We live in the East Valley (Chandler/Tempe) and it's always a treat to go to some local favorites. From the moment you arrive at The Phoenician, you walk into an idyllic setting. We tried Mowry & Cotton the other night to celebrate our anniversary and spend time with my mom, sister, and son. We were immediately greeted by the staff and sat in a comfortable and elegant setting. Our server, Dora, was knowledgeable about the wine and pairings. Her dining assistant, Iris, was prompt, never let our waters deplete, and made sure the table was taken care of. Dora specifically recommended a delicious white, a rosé, and delicious reds to complement our appetizers and dinner. The food was spot on! The branzino delectable! We chose Mowry & Cotton at The Phoenician in Scottsdale for our New Year's Eve celebration, expecting a special, well-executed experience worthy of the venue and the price. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. At $120 per person, we anticipated attentive service, a festive atmosphere, and food served properly. Instead, our meal arrived very late and cold, which immediately took away from the experience. Even more surprising was the complete lack of any New Year's celebration elements -- no champagne toast, no countdown, no party favors such as blowers, crowns, or leis. There was nothing that made the evening feel like New Year's Eve. For a restaurant associated with The Phoenician, the overall execution fell far below expectations. This was not the quality, service, or celebration we expected for a premium holiday event, and sadly, it did not feel worth the cost. read more

This is hands down the best restaurant we've ever been to in a hotel and we are avid travelers! Every ingredient seems to be intentionally picked to create a perfectly balanced bite. We have had their sandwiches and brunch and everything wowed us. We have already eaten here multiple times this trip and we will be back, The Executive chef at this resort is so incredibly kind and talented and the first ever female in the luxury collection. Her attention to detail and talent are evident not only in her food but in the joy and engagement the staff bring to their work. Great breakfast spot on campus. We came back here daily, especially if you are a hotel member and can get discounts on the breakfast. It really made sense to bring the whole family here and it was nice to be able to switch up the order every day for something new. Also kids under three eat for free so my son had the opportunity to grab the buffet which was clutch, especially for a picky eater. Beautiful setting in a luxury Resort. We had a nice table outside on the patio. Four of us met for lunch and hadn't seen each other in years. The food was good. The Brunch menu was decent. Our Server interrupted us constantly. It was so annoying! She couldn't just swing by and look to see and make herself available if we needed anything. We had to stop the conversation to answer her over and over. It left a sour taste in what should have been a wonderful meal with old friends. read more

I didn't get to take pictures of the food, but everything was delicious and freshly made. We ordered the lamb ragu pasta and the skirt steak with a side of mushroom soup. My pasta was freshly cooked and the lamb ragu was delicious. The staff was welcoming to my kids and that's always a plus. Kids eat free! They got the salmon with broccoli and rice and the burger and fries. Somehow they still put it on the tab, but i pointed out to the server and he gladly took it off. We came here looking for dinner during our first night at the Phoenician. We were able to get quick reservations and Hector was our server. The location and view is lovely, very relaxing vibe. We wee seated right when it opened and they were out of scallops, which we had ordered. I moved on to order a filet, it was very tender but a little dry. The mashed potatoes were absolutely wonderful. The salmon was good, crispy potatoes good. Kids chicken breast was dry and we ordered fries as the side for the kids meal and was charged 7.00 for the side! This was our first and only meal here while staying @ The Phoennecian. It was the only breakfast option on the property. We were not disappointed. I didn't want a gut buster breakfast so I opted for the Egg White Frittata and I skipped the pesto which I like but I didn't need the extra calories. The goat cheese and veggies added plenty of flavor. It was served piping hot too. The ONLY way to eat eggs am I right? My husband ordered the French Toast. It was made of 2 huge thick pieces of bread topped with blueberries and a lemon sauce I think. It really didn't need any butter or syrup TBH but he wanted all the flavors lol. After several calls and a voicemail with no response, I had to call the concierge the day of just to get someone on the line. We stayed at The Phoenician and had breakfast here every day. On warmer mornings we ate outside and it was really nice. There were a few cooler days that we did eat indoors. We had Rachael as our server the first day and really liked her fun personality. We asked to sit in her section everyday and were able to! She provided us with great service and menu suggestions. Rachael was not working our last two days. Unfortunately, the service wasn't very good those two days. We had breakfast there seven days and I don't think we had the same thing twice. I'm not a huge breakfast person and the portions are a nice size, so my husband and I ended up splitting an entree each day. I recently stayed at the Phoenician and decided to try Mowry and Cotton for brunch. The resort is beautiful and the ambiance in the restaurant gives off a very cool vibe. I sat on the patio and had a great view of the pool. My experience was so good I came back the next day for lunch. Let's dig in. The staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and honest about what they liked on the menu. I love that. For brunch I had the croque madam which was a fantastic version. It's served on thick brioche bun and was seasoned perfectly. The rosemary ham was a nice touch. A few glasses of rose paired well with the meal and the chill ambiance and view of the pool left me relaxed. For lunch I had the Mowry Burger and fries. Again, everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The burger was exactly medium rare, the fries were crispy, and the shallot jam on the burger elevated the flavor. Not sure why this place only had 3.5 stars. Excellent food (twice), a beautiful and relaxing feel, and a friendly, professional, staff. It's an easy return for me next time I'm in town. read more

Beautiful venue with a very relaxed vibe. The bar area has a Speakeasy feel and an outstanding cocktail selection. Bourbon drinkers will rejoice in a long list of top shelf whiskey to choose from. Menu is small, but solid. Flatbreads are excellent and the Chopped Salad is fresh and perfectly dressed. Hangar steak was good, not great. The side of roasted potatoes however were outstanding. Mowry and Cotton is located inside the Phoenician. We were staying here for the long Labor Day weekend so I decided to check it out for dinner on Thursday. The staff was very friendly and chose to sit outside on the patio which overlooks the pool area and hotel grounds. They have misters around the patio which keeps the heat down but they did drip water on me. I didn't mind but something to be aware of if you're wearing a fancy outfit and don't want water drops on it. My server was friendly but I found the speed or the service very slow and often I was looking around for her to order. The drinks took forever to arrive I had finished my entire meal and she never checked on me once and I still didn't received my drink order. I would have given the place four stars if the service was better. The branzino was fantastic, probably one of the better ones I've had. The char and crispy skin was incredible and it was seasoned perfectly. I also enjoyed the buttermilk buns. I didn't love the butter or pickled vegetables. The flavors didn't work for me. But I appreciate the unique spin and complexity of the offering. I think I would have preferred just basic butter as an option, instead it was just two specialty ones. The buns were good enough on their own though without any butter. The cocktails were also refreshing. I would go again but maybe sit in the bar to get better service. read more

I went in March during Spring Training in March. This is located in The Phoenician. I went for breakfast. The place is nice and located at the bottom level of the property by the pools. They were busy but still had tables available. Our food took a long time to come. I think they were short staffed. One guy in our group got hangry; meanwhile, I was just enjoying my latte and relaxing. The presentation of my Avocado Benedict was nice and it was good. The bread part could've been a little more soft but good otherwise. My latte was good as well. As with any resort, I thought the food was a little overpriced but great if you want a nice breakfast out with friends. read more

We booked a dinner at Mowry and Cotton after spending a day by the pool for our guest of honors birthday. The cabana people must have told them or made a note that we were celebrating as the waitress acknowledged the birthday and offered us a free drink to upon sitting down to celebrate. The waitress was quick and attentive the entire service. We got to sit out on the patio night and it was wonderful. We could overlook the empty lot up pool and the mountains in the back. For a starter we got the buttermilk buns. They came out on a charcuterie style board with the buns and couple different spread options. We especially loved the jam. We also got the veal meatballs and they were wonderful. Then we ordered Brussels sprouts for the table and they were delicious! We complimented them and the waitress told us they were one of the chefs specialties! The mashed potatoes were also amazing. The entrees were equally as amazing as the rest of the food. This place has a super cool atmosphere, but so far every time we have gone it's been pretty empty and I'm not sure why. The service has been good and friendly. The food is good. I enjoyed my salmon both times I ordered it. They have a kids menu which is nice. They have a unique selections of flatbreads and you can watch them get made which is kind of fun. Update to my older review. We recently did a staycation and got the breakfast option again. It was still great! I got the pancakes one day and French toast the next. Hot tip: kids under 3 eat free! Which is great because my two year old is VERY particular about her food so I always feel bad to waste money on a meal she doesn't touch. She loved the waffles. The tiny syrup that they give you with each breakfast is so cute too! I had a latte, which was great and some fresh squeezed oj! First time at Mowry and Cotton at the Phoenician. I have to say trying to find parking was a little challenging but the valet guys were able to direct me. Valet parking at the Phoenician is 28 dollars in cash, but the parking garage is 12 dollars for 4 hours. It is a little challenging getting to the actual restaurant because you have to take two different elevators but the front desk or any worker is more than happy to direct you. Moving on the best part my experience, the food. Sunday brunch is the best way to spend your Sunday and my dinning experience was lovely. I ordered the caramel latte with oatmilk, I love how it came with a little harden stick of sugar to sweeten your drink to your liking. The lonely monkey bread was really good, it was warm filled with nuts, fruit jams and cream. For my main dish I got the smoked brisket Benedict. I was informed the brisket is smoked in house. It was absolutely delish, well seasoned and tender. I will definitely recommend the smoked brisket Benedict. I have to say the service was really good. Food is a little better than average. It is not like "food is so good that I want to come back". But slight above average food with nice ambiance made me want to come back again. We ate here everyday during our stay at the Phoenician either for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The staff here is wonderful and the service was great. I loved seeing the diversity of the staff as well. I thought the food here was very good so I was surprised to see some of the bad reviews. For breakfast, we did get complimentary breakfast as part of the Marriott program which was the continental breakfast that consisted of a croissant, fruit with yogurt and coffee or juice. I loved how they were accommodating and allowed us to swap out the croissant for bread and getting oatmeal instead of the yogurt. One of the days we opted to get the breakfast buffet and just paid the difference and it was a very good buffet. There was a variety of food to choose from: omelet station, smoked salmon, charcuterie meat selections, different types of pastries, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, fruit, berry smoothie and green juice, roasted vegetables, cereals. They have a nice indoor and outdoor seating as well in addition to the bar area. read more

I've been to Mowry & Cotton more than a handful of times since it opened... I've enjoyed breakfast once or twice and dinner at least five times. It's always been good - some experiences better than others. It is pricey, but remember, this restaurant is in a high end resort! The staff is always super attentive and friendly. On a recent visit with a large party of 9 (5 adults and 4 kids), Romeo was our waiter. He was personable and went above and beyond... especially with his interactions with the kids. We often have friends and family visiting from out of town and staying at the Phoenician, so dining at Mowry & Cotton is an easy option during those times. We'll continue to visit in the future and likely request Romeo as our waiter! read more

Phoenix has such an amazing brunch scene that you really expect a lot when you come to The Phoenician. The food was okay, but I was really underwhelmed by the service. I ordered an egg white farmers frittata, which was excellent. To drink, I had a Green Nectar juice, which was underwhelming because it tasted pretty bland (it needs citrus or ginger to really make the flavor pop). We sat out on the patio, which has a lovely view of the back of the resort. There is a "hawk guy" who walks around with a large bird to educate the guests about. My issue with the service started when we checked in with the hostess. I sensed a little bit of a bad attitude when I said we were there for brunch and she mumbled under her breath that they were serving breakfast, not brunch (I didn't realize there was a difference!). The waitress seemed annoyed whenever we would ask her for something. I'm not a demanding customer, I just have a higher expectation for good service at the restaurant of a fancy resort. I would recommend going somewhere else for a good brunch in Phoenix but then come back to The Phoenician for drinks at the Thirsty Camel upstairs. read more
