It doesn't get any worse than this when it comes to customer service. We were without a refrigerator for 11 days and had to throw out over $600 of food that needlessly spoiled. It all started out on a positive note. Mr. Appliance in Homewood IL responded quickly and were courteous. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. The techs analysis that Tuesday was that a new compressor was needed. I asked if he had one with him and he said no, but even if he had one, he didn't install compressors. They have only one person who does that and he was out of town until Thursday. It was cold outside, so we placed all the frig contents out on the patio in bins. On Thursday I called and was told that they couldn't install the compressor until Saturday. Again, the tech was polite and seemed caring. He said he didn't have a compressor but would get one from the warehouse and call us. I emphasized that it was very important that we get this done that day as the forecast for Sunday was 60 degree and all our food would spoil. Saturday came and went and no call from the tech. I placed three calls to Mr Appliance's main line only to get a recording each time and no return call. Sunday came and went and our $600 of food was now garbage with 60 degrees outside. By Monday I was furious. And again more grief and another disappointment. They didn't have a compressor and no one in the city of Chicago had one. I found this hard to believe and LG wouldn't stock a compressor is a major city like Chicago. But that's what I was told. They said the nearest city that had one was Indianapolis and it wouldn't be here for a few days. On Wednesday I called again to see when this would arrive. I was told it had to be ordered from Los Angeles since Indianapolis didn't have one despite being previously told they did. Finally, on Friday, 11 days after the first call, the compressor was installed. This fiasco was really a total failure by both Mr. Appliance and LG. If what I was told is true, why wouldn't LG have a decent inventory of compressors for a city the size of Chicago ? As far as Mr. Appliance, they are polite but it ends there as far as customer service. Throughout this whole fiasco I had to call them to find out what was going on. They didn't call me. It was one excuse after another. LG products may look good and pricing may be decent, but their customer service is beyond atrocious. To make things worse, they have only 3 firms in Chicago that will even service LG refrigerators. Most appliance repair firms won't touch LG refrigerators. This is the second time we've had to have our LG refrigerator serviced and it's not even five years old. Buying LG is buying grief. Obviously, I won't buy another LG product. read more

Mr. Appliance is great. We've used them two times over the last year, and will continue to call them. Appointments made quickly, they stay in contact, they have the needed knowledge and equipment, they're on time, and the price is right. Rodney Cohns has been our technician, and he is great. Large appliance repair can be a real crap shoot if you bought from a big box store, or *gasp* Sears. Sears is but a whiff of what they used to be, and if you bought from Best Buy.....good luck. Mr. appliance does one thing. Fix your appliance. Call them. You won't be sorry. read more

I have NEVER had a service company go so far to communicate. I could set up the appointment and describe the problem online. My tech communicated when he was on the way, and he solved the problem (a washer was leaking!) quickly and easily. This is the way service is supposed to work. We HOPE we don't have to call them again. If we do, Mr. Appliance is going to get our call. read more

The tech arrived 1 hour after the window to which we were told he would be there. When we called the dispatcher they said that he would arrive within 30min and that turned out to be a hour and half later. The repair was not done because the service person send it would cost $450 for a $65 part to be installed. We were told that we would be sent a copy of the bill with the part number on it by email that night and we did not get it. We called the next day and talked to the dispatcher to have them resend the invoice and still have not receive the invoice. BTW when talking to the dispatcher she said the repair was going to be $600 now. I requested the copy of the bill for my records because I am bit of a DIY'er and wanted to attempt the repair myself. Of course I wanted the exact part number. Keep in mind I did pay $89 for the diagnose. read more

I called this morning and was able to get an almost immediate appointment. Victor went beyond fixing the main problem by ensuring my Electrolux dishwasher was properly installed and functioning. If you like being LIED TO and RIPPED OFF this is your place! Our vent-less washer/dryer wasn't drying properly; we assumed it was our 4 pets causing a clog so we called Mr. Appliance. Visit 1 (Oct 10th) technician could not find any clog. Decided it was a burned out blower. Charged $240 of a $480 bill and ordered the part; said he'd be back on the 19th. Oct. 19th--no tech. Called and was told the part was back ordered--rescheduled for Oct 26th. **THIS IS THE BEST PART: I received an email receipt that OPENLY ADMITTED I WAS LIED TO, that the part was NEVER ordered in the first place! (Can't figure out how to get the pic on here...) Oct. 26th Blower put in and deemed NOT to be the problem. New control board ordered Nov. 5 New control board put in and balance charged DRYER STILL DIDN'T WORK. Side note: the tech quit during this time after calling the company, its office staff and owner "a mess" Nov. 14 Finally the owner Alan came out and wouldn't you know it? HE FOUND A SIMPLE CLOG! Suddenly the dryer worked fine. But shockingly in a case of unbelievably poor customer service, dishonesty and awful business practices--ALAN WOULD NOT REFUND ANY OF OUR MONEY! We were happy to pay the $90 service call fee that should've handled the problem on the first visit...Now we are out over $430 on the bill, another $175 from using the laundromat unnecessarily for two months, and I wasted THREE days off with repairmen. I called this company to get service for my oven that has a part that's discontinued. I gave the woman who answered the phone the model number and the part number to see if they have in stock. They did not and I asked can she talk to the technician to see if they know of a compatible part and I was told the technician has to come out for a 89 fee first. I tried to tell her that I know the problem and couldn't you just check first and we can schedule. It's a easy fix if they can find a compatible part but why pay for them to "troubleshoot" the situation if you already know the problem? Long story short I was treated very rudely and was reminded how much money their company makes with or without my service call. They will never get any business with me with that attitude but it seems like their customer service or woman that answers the phone does not care either way. Bad way of conducting business. read more
