I had really high hopes for this place, as various Instagram pages I follow gave it great reviews, but it left a lot to be desired. The place itself is really nice and clean, service is friendly, and seating areas were clean. The bakery selection is ample and they have cakes, macaroons, eclairs, tea cookies, cupcakes, and more. We ordered a Napoleon, which was served all broken up, a cookies and cream mini pie, which was a simple custard mini pie, covered in a thick mountain of whipped cream, with a layer of crumbled Oreo's, and a chocolate and peanut butter cupcake, which was a plain chocolate cupcake, with dark chocolate frosting, and 2 small, cut pieces of Reese's on top. The frosting on the latter was delicious. The cookie pie was simple, just custard, and plain tasting. It tasted a lot like my chocolate Napoleon...plain and boring. Not bad, just...plain. We also got two coffees, one white mocha, iced, and a hot hazelnut latte. My fiance was not impressed about his iced latte, but my hazelnut coffee wasn't too shabby. Currently here. So far I ate the "Black forest" cake. It's ok. If they didn't put cherries it'd definitely be dry. I put it in quotes too because it doesn't taste or look like a black forest cake. I've had it in Germany and other places it this tastes and looks like, barely chocolate, cake with cream and cherries. Would I get that here again? No. I'll be updating later l after I eat the rest. Mr Baker is a yummy bakery located in Terra Vista town center. I've gone a few times to grab cupcakes, pre-order pies for Thanksgiving, and get a dessert to bring to a friend's house for dinner! First time here so I had many questions since there's a lot to choose from their displays. Cookies, cupcakes, cake slices and whole cakes... I was excited, since they look good, but I was disappointed when I tasted them. 4 stars - Cronut Bites - Got a sample at checkout of a Cronut bite and it was good. It had the perfect amount of sweetness inside. 1 star - Strawberry swirl cupcake - no flavor in the frosting, it needed something, but cake was moist and had a little strawberry flavor surprise inside. 1 star - Double chocolate cake slice was just okay, the chocolate was not rich enough for me. Pecan pie was awful. I don't know what they did to it but it looked overly cooked and was very hard to cut and chew. It's like they used a cookie crust on top and over cooked it. Tasted like it's been out for awhile, but the employee told me they just made it a few mins ago when I bought it today. Maybe I chose the wrong things, but I felt like I did get a variety of things to sample their quality and sweetness. I was just disappointed overall. Thank you Mr Baker, you have no idea what a life saver you were today!! It was my mom's 85th Birthday today, I was in the process of baking a special cake "Chantilly Cake" for her, I had the cake in the oven and the cake mix spilled over the cake pan onto the bottom oven area, well smoke started spewing and filled the entire house...fire alarm going off, it was a disaster. I was so upset, crying cause I wanted this to be a special cake for my mom. So, I sent my son over to your bakery to pick up a replacement cake. He brought home such a beautiful cake, and it was very delicious. The only thing is it was very cold, I think we needed to let the cake sit out for a bit but we were fine with it. I just wanted to say I'm glad you had cakes on hand that were different from grocery store bakeries that all look the same with that fake buttercream frosting. Came here the other day looking for some desserts I could bring to a party. This is a corner shop next to payless and game stop in the terra vista shopping center. Its a pretty big bakery with a lot of pastries, cakes, breads and other baked goodies. You can even order customized cakes for any type of event. Customer service wise I felt as though it was lacking. Bunch of people working there just staring and not being friendly or conversative at all. It felt like they didn't want to be there. It was so quiet, almost felt like a library or a mortuary. Price wise they aren't too expensive. Comparable to the other bakeries around Rancho. I ordered a dozen cake balls and a double chocalate deluxe cake. The cake balls were $0.99 each and I had their rum cake, almond cake and red velvet cake balls. They were a good size, batter was dense and of all the ones I had the red velvet ones were the best. The almond one tasted rancid, almost like gasoline. The chocalate one wasen't impressive either. The double chocalate deluxe cake ($30) was another story!! It was visually beautiful. But it was also moist and it tasted wonderful. I would definitely recommend ordering this cake!! Overall this place was so so. It didn't put a smile on my face, customer service was just like their cake balls. Bland at best, distasteful at worst. I love the neopolotin and latte they even have a delicious treat for your dog, shaped as a dog bone my dogs devoured for their birthday. We love Mr. Baker! Our go to bakery for every event we need a custom cake for (or even a general cake). They're always quick to respond by email and pay attention to every detail. I sent them my dream cake for my bridal shower from Pinterest and they made it perfect! I got so many compliments on how beautiful all the pastries are. I also got a lot of compliments about the taste! I went to the grand opening this week. I arrived about 15 minutes early and they cut the red ribbon 20 minutes late. Besides the long wait, the staff were super nice and passed out water to those of us waiting in line. The inside eating area was well laid out with comfortable seating. All of the desserts were displayed beautifully. Everything was fancy and looked almost too delicious to eat. I have been here twice and have been disappointed with their product both times. The presentation was beautiful but the taste was lacking. I tasted all three sample pastries given at the grand opening and only ate a bite of each one because to finish them would be wasting calories. I came back and tried their stuffed croissant and it was just okay. I really wanted to like this place, others might , this was just my experience. My daughter and I were at the farmers market and saw Mr. Baker so decided to give it a shot. Beautiful line of pastries and the dining area was clean. Restroom needed cleaning and freshener. We ordered the pizza which was a fail. When I asked the manager if the pizza was fresh, she told us that it's made in the morning and put in the fridge. against my better judgement we ordered two cheese pizzas which later we were told they only had one so we switched to a veggie pizza. After 20 minutes our pizza came and was a total disappointment. Let me just sum this bakery up for you real quick. The bakery's interior and all of its pastries that are in display are all visually appealing but the taste and quality of their pastries and drinks do not taste as great as they look. I've always looked forward to finally stop by and try this place and I was upset to find out that the quality of their food isn't what I expected it to be. The exterior of the location (right in front of the entrance) you have a very wide and lovely patio under some shade from the buildings along with y'all palm trees. Great to just hang out, study or just enjoy your drink alone. Entering the bakery, I was astonished to see the wide variety of samples they had in their fridges each and every one of them appearing very appealing. I walked in expecting great taste in desserts and drinks from the looks of it but that's not how it went. Overall taste and quality of their drinks and desserts are 5.5/10 STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE - ($4.25) the most popular cake sold (according to one of the employees) the frosting is very light, nothing thick or overly sweet. Strawberries were ripe. Similar taste you get from the cakes made at your local grocery market. Tasty but not extraordinary or is unique in its own way to the bakery where you would say "that's from Mr Bake Bakery & Cafe" HONEY ALMOND CAKE - ($4.25) layered with vanilla cake and honey/vanilla pudding, frosting, sprinkled with shaved almonds and a fallow of frosting MATCHA LATTE - ($5.65) tasted like whole milk more than anything. Was not rich in flavor. The latte design was nice but a little over priced for its poor taste. We have been coming to this bakery since it opened. We have always received good quality cakes. Yesterday my husband bought two cakes a tiramisu and a mixed berry. I have never been so disappointed by a cake the mixed berry tasted like it has been sitting at the bakery for days it was not fresh like they have always been in the past. I would have gave them one start just based on the mixed berry but the tiramisu was actually very good. We paid 112 for two cakes and I am extremely disappointed that at such a high price point these cakes are not made fresh daily. read more

The desserts are pretty and the staff is really good about telling you what in each thing, in case you have allergies. If you're looking for a cake for a party, they usually have some full size ones, but I would recommend pre-ordering one so you get the exact cake you want. If you order hot lattes, they do cute latte art. Every espresso beverage I've had here has been good. They do have milk alternatives for those who avoid dairy. OK, I stopped by this wonderful bakery in search of an ALMOND CROISSANT because Starbucks wasn't cutting it, as well as one other bakery we tried that was a let down. But this one IS so DELICIOUS! UPDATE: I have been really dreading this update because I truly loved this place, but I have had 5 cakes in the last month from here (2 for work party and 3 for different birthdays) and they are not the same quality as before. I had the Mocha, Mixed Berry, Strawberry shortcake (2x) and Bow Tie. All the cakes were dry and did not have the same light spongy soft texture. The frosting has also changed with the exception of the strawberry and mixed berry which did have the whipped cream frosting. The frosting is the same for the cupcakes which I never did care for, it's a weird thick almost like I'm eating crisco waxy texture/flavor. Every time I have gone to get a cake they are limited on the flavor, which was never an issue previously. The actual place is always hot and the temperature seems to affect the quality of the baked goods. As far as customer service I have not had any issues, also helped promptly and very nice. So that's where I keep the 3 stars. The quality has just not been the same, very sad. My previous 4-5 star review: Amazingly Awesome! I have been to this bakery consistently since it's open and have not been disappointed. I have purchased small drop cookies, cupcakes and cakes, mixed berry being my favorite flavor. This type of cake is not for those use to the overly sugared store bought cakes. This cake is light, moist almost sponge like, the creams for the cakes are lightly sweetened where you can taste the delicate flavors. The cakes are not heavy or overly flavored, they are nicely flavored and fresh. I decided to get a custom cake for my son's birthday and it did not disappoint. The customer service has been great every time I have been there. Having been part of a tea shop in Rancho that closed years back; I can say opening a business and learning the customer base and what they want is very challenging. I applaud them. The birthday cake macaroon was a hit with my kids. I wish it was a room temperature since it was a bit hard. Overall taste was good and the customer service was good. We ate a lemon drop cookie.
