Went to this place on a Friday at noonish right when they opened. They had a great deal at the time for 23 dollars for all you can eat. Honestly we went in with low expectations but for the price the quality of meat was decent. They also had a ton of side dishes and accompanying dishes (soups, egg, etc.). Everything was decent quality and I would recommend coming during lunch hours as the deal is great but we noticed that it gets busy quick so make sure to try and come when it opens. I guess I should preface this review with the fact that I am directly comparing it to Mr BBQ in Fullerton. We came on a random Thursday, and, I gotta tell you, it wasn't THAT busy, but it was quite steady, and after we got seated, there seemed to be a few parties waiting for a table. Again, we got seated right away, which was nice. The servers were very informative, but truthfully, the whole thing was pretty self-explanatory. The whole restaurant was pretty small, comparatively to Mr BBQ. It's right next to the AMC at The District, so space is limited. I think it serves its purpose well, though. We ordered pretty much all of the meats on the menu. Pork belly, brisket, bulgogi, jowl...lots of jowl. I think it's crazy that the jowl is offered, because it's my favorite and not the easiest to get at your standard KBBQ spot. The brisket was mid, but what can we expect? I think brisket is great, but very rarely is it preferable at an AYCE place. No change here, but no problem. I think you really should be getting something else. For the price, everything was pretty darn worth it. I'd go again in a heartbeat, but let's hope the crazy crowds that form at Mr BBQ don't migrate over to Tustin. read more

We were so sad when Zip BBQ closed down at this location because it was our favorite, but Mr. BBQ Jr. just opened up and we got to eat there during their soft opening. I was honestly blown away. The food was so delicious, and everything we tried was amazing -- the sides, the soup, the kimchi fried rice, and of course all the Korean barbecue. I also loved how easy it was to order from the iPad. The lunch special is such a great deal at $24 for all-you-can-eat lunch, and you get so much food. For those who know the OG mr bbq in fullerton and have been skeptical about their new "jr" location in Tustin, I can confirm, it does the OG location proud Their pricing is $23.99 for lunch, Monday through THURSDAY 11:30am - 4pm Friday, plus the weekend is $33.99 pricing (dinner price) Biggest difference between lunch and dinner- they have shrimp on the seafood menu, and they have a "Mr bbq" marinade option included within the meats menu Apps are the same, soups are the same, noodles are the same Small and large intestines are included in both lunch and dinner menu. Both were really good quality. Our server Jacob was so attentive, personable, even helped cut our meats (and he definitely didn't have to!) During lunch the ambiance is fairly calm, they still have music playing but at a reasonable volume The meats were all super fresh and presented well. The street tacos are a must try!!! Location is nearby the AMC theater. They don't have reservations would avoid for groups larger than 4 people. Price is reasonable for KBBQ. The menu doesn't have the high end offerings that other KBBQ places have but it's a good selection for the price. Banchan was below average. However all of the kitchen made Korean street food appetizers were great, wish the portions were smaller to sample more. Okay meat variety for the price bracket. They included an ice cream bar for dessert. Service was excellent and I like that you can order from a tablet at the table though it was a bit restrictive on the time lock between meat ordering. I came here with the hope that it would be close if not the same in terms of quality of the popular Mr. BBQ in Fullerton, but, I was thoroughly disappointed. Definitely not worth the $33.99/person that we paid. We arrived around 5PM on a weekday. The restaurant was almost empty with only 2 other parties that were dining in. We got seated immediately and were instructed on how to order (order food on the tablet, drinks with the server). All the names of the meat on the menu are in Korean (words) and require you to click on the item to see the descriptions in English. There are photos as well. We ordered the following: K-Street Eats: - Kimchi Fried Rice: Their take on classic fried rice with kimchi and spam. I had high hopes but was disappointed in this. It lacked flavor and the rice tasted pretty soggy. - Bulgogi Fries: These bulgogi topped French fries were pretty good and were the only item I liked during my meal. Thin cut fries with tasty pieces of meat and a good sauce on top. Soups & Noodz: - Kimchi Jeegae: Homemade kimchi stew that somewhat tasted homemade... like a jar of boiled kimchi. - Spicy Ramyun: This was basically a bowl of cooked Buldak noodles, the spicy ones, I believe the black bag (1x spicy)? AYCE Meats: - Chadol - Mr. BBQ - Woobaesol - Bulgogi The meat quality wasn't the greatest, and definitely didn't carry the greatest of flavors. Both the sesame oil (which was severely watered down) and salt nor the dipping sauce helped at all. Nothing special to say about the side dishes. The spicy cucumbers looked good but were definitely watered down. The salad was OK. Parking is plentiful and the best place to park is the side where PetSmart is. There's less traffic and intersections to worry about ant it's as short of a walk compared to parking in the busy Whole Foods lot. Service was OK, we were checked on a few times during our meal. Excited to learn that Mr BBQ opened a jr location, and came here for a dinner with some friends. They're currently in their soft opening phase, so the staff was still in training, and the menu felt limited. Popular meats like the brisket and beef belly were on the menu, so we opted for that and some other marinated meats. Soft opening has a lunch and dinner menu ranging from $24-34. I liked that they had a lot of apps and noodle options! Although the staff was in training, they offered great friendly and quick service. We had some mishaps with getting the wrong items a few times, but it was a super easy fix. I loved that they also had buldak noodles here. They took over what used to be Zip BBQ, so the restaurant is fairly small. Wait times look like it could be long, but they do have the online Yelp waitlist that allows you to join before arriving. Wanted to try this place out since its closer to my house compared to the original location. Service was great out server was always asking if we needed anything and asking us how everything was. The meats did come out slower on comparison to the other location but the sides and small dishes such as corn cheese were by far better than the original location. Our meal came with all of my favorite banchans that tasted the same as the Fullerton location. There are also a variety of appetizers (tacos, baos), but I would rather save my stomach for more meat! MR. BBQ JR might be our new favorite KBBQ spot. We found this place on TikTok and knew we had to try. It is located in the district in Tustin and we went around 2pm on a Thursday. We went specifically for their lunch speacil which is only 23.99. The inside was a decent size and not too packed when we went. I loved the theming and cute pictures of small cartoon animals to represent that this is a Mr. Bbq JR. All of the staff was very nice and our server David did an amazing job. He was really nice and helpful as it was our first time here. I really enjoyed that they gave you all of the banchan/sides without having to ask and also enjoyed that you get to order yourself on a tablet so you don't have to wait for a waiter. All of the items we ordered were 10/10. My favorite had to be the wagyu beef belly and Soondabu soup. However everything we ordered was amazing and high quality. All of the food was prepared fresh and came out quickly. They also give you dessert (melons popsicle) at the end of your meal. So we went there to check it out and was truly disappointed. Meat selection is not the greatest and tough. We tried the hot plate stuff as well. Ordered fried chicken that comes with a dip which their dip was a line of mayo. I ordered 2 kimchi fried rice with spam and they forgot about it. when I reminded them they only brought 1 with 4 pcs of spam as a garnish Bwhaha. Fountain drinks are flat. I used to go to Mr. BBQ in Fullerton all the time and was excited for this being much closer to me. We went on their grand opening day and the wait was 3 hours, which was expected. Service was quick, however I felt like it wasn't the cleanest, which was a surprise since they are so new. The smaller menu is good since it's basically includes what I normally get and is much cheaper than Mr. BBQ. However I felt the food just wasn't that good this time. Not sure if they use the same meats or it was just a one time off. Maybe I'll give it another time once they get settled cause it's a $12 saving from their more extensive menu in Fullerton. read more

This new location of the famous Mr BBQ of Fullerton aptly named Jr lives up to the hype. We visited for the first time this evening after a movie at the AMC theater next door. This is a good spot for food before or after catching a movie or just visiting the open air mall. The host greeted us warmly and promptly helped me answer a menu question and dietary restriction request. Great friendly service right off the bat set the stage for a delicious meal. The banchan or sides were tasty and the included steamed egg bowl was freshly made. They have a table side digital ordering tablet to get your meats, apps, drinks etc. The waiters brought our dishes out fast after inputting them to the pad. They also kept up with providing us with new grill tops throughout the meal. The meal includes ice cream at the end too. The meat selection was good for just $31.99 for dinner price. Ask for a side of sliced garlic and/or jalapeños to grill too. They recently took over this location from a previous owner so it's under new management now.
