Stopped in here for dinner when we were in town for a few days. It was about 6:45 on a Tuesday evening. We waited a few minutes to order because there was a line but no biggie. I got the regular size Italian beef dipped and my husband got the gyro plate. Delicious. Being from Chicago I love a good beef sandwich and this did not disappoint. I have been going here forever and sometimes the pizza came out just right! A few times the deep dish pizza on Thursday just didn't taste great! Last night i had walked into Mr. Beef n Pizza and ordered a slice of deep dish sausage pizza and it was just plain gross! Not the first time that this has happened to me! I will guarantee that i will NEVER be going to Mr. Beef n Pizza for anything ever again!! Too many good pizza places to go to without feel an upset stomach!! the ONLY place to eat an Italian Beef. I've tried them all and this is the best. Beef here has a fresh taste to it-unlike Portillos which has a very chemically taste to it. This is because portillos loads their beef and juice with an insane amount of MSG. They don't do that here. The sweet peppers they use here are the best and the hot are also very good. Get the sandwich totally dipped. Sure it's a little more expensive than other places but it's worth it. Freshness doesn't come cheap. read more

Went through the drive thru the other day. My office is located nearby and I won't be back. They were very slow and the girl at the window was borderline rude when asked for Ketchup and if there was napkins etc. The fried shrimp and fries I got were soggy. Mr. Beef has definitely improved a lot since the first time I was there years ago. They have a really good Italian Beef with decent spice. Problem is that it is a bit fatty which leaves a lot more grease on your hands than beefs from other places. Still worth having though. read more

I have been going to Mr. Beef & Pizza for about 15 years or so. Nice, casual place to have a burger or slice of pizza. I really like their pizza-by-the-slice. It has good flavor and texture, very cheesy. Hadn't been there in a long while and went through the drive-thru the other day for a couple of slices of pizza. Was excited to see they now have daily cupcakes. Yum! The Dutch chocolate cupcake with the whipped chocolate buttercream is delicious. Only when I'm on a carb-splurge though. Not for every day. But I did call today to see if they had any chocolate cupcakes left today, as I was craving another one. The last person to buy a cupcake bought their last 5 for the day. Oh well. read more

I LOVE this place. I've been going here since I can remember. Over 20 years. For the most part, the staff is always friendly. The food is almost always to our liking. The cheese fries, in my opinion, are the best cheese fries I have ever had. The pizza is very good. The pepper and egg sandwich is pretty much the only pepper and egg sandwich that I have had that wasn't greasy. It's very good. I have had and attended multiple parties here. It's really a great place to be. It seems to be the hotspot for team sports to go to after a game. The 50's diner feel is really enjoyable. It's very family friendly. I'm an event planner (side job) and good food is HUGE when hosting events. I am a regular customer of Mr. Beefs and have been for a few years now. The food is sooo tasty I decided to use the catering service for a bridal shower I hosted on June 21, 2014. I ordered the large beef's, baked chicken, mostaccioli, about 80 plus cupcakes (different flavors) and the key lime bars. I can not say it enough how GREAT the food was/is!!! So many guests came up to me during the shower asking who catered the food. I recieved several calls the next day asking where are they located. The Mother of the Bride MADE me order more of the key lime bars today!! I will be placing more catering orders for my upcoming events on Aug 2nd & 9th of this year. I live all the way in Berwyn with hundreds of resturants all around me and I will continue to use Mr. Beefs!! This is my #1 pick by far. We've had Mr. Beef for lunch during our training seminars, and it's always a hit. I'm a huge fan of the BBQ Bacon Mushroom Burger, it's pretty amazing. The fries are better than most as well. I tried the beef sandwich once and it was alright. I always seem to stop here when I'm in the area and want something quick, something about the lighting, layout and colors is just very attractive. Today's visit was not as enjoyable however, I ordered a hotdog with everything and fries, an American tradition! The fries were great, and fresh tasting. The ingredients on top of the hotdog seemed fresh, the bun was a bit soft and soggy which I found somewhat alarming. When I tasted the hotdog, I felt great fear building within me because the hot dog had no casing and was soft like Nathan's or some kind of generic brand. Calling it terrible is doing it justice. I left when I was finished thinking the ordeal was over. Nope, I've been having stomach pain all day, as if the thing was tainted or some kind of Chinese import. We came here for my daughters 3rd birthday. They let us use the party room for our meal. It was great!!!! The kids had lots of room to run, it's quaintly decorated and the food was good. The western pizza was a hit!!! I wish we ordered the largest size of that. The spinach Bianco was really yummy also. The staff was amazingly helpful and kind. I've heard that Mr. Beef is very good, but very bad service. Had scheduled a party, but the guests were going to have to order themselves at this event that we were having for my grandson's birthday. It turned out that we had to cancel 2 weeks before the time of the party. I had asked my daughter if she had called and she forgot to call to cancel. When she called it was over a week notice before the party. When my daughter called Mr. Beef's owner said that she was charging my credit card $75. I had no service and this wasn't even an official room with waitresses scheduled to work. WHAT!! I didn't even try any food and you are going to charge me $75! So I called to talk to the owner and she confirmed that she was going to charge my credit card $75 for nothing. It appears their business isn't doing so good. I recommend staying away from Mr. Beef. AND don't schedule any parties because you will be in big trouble if you have to cancel over a week prior to the party. My bank credited me back the $75 that Mr. Beef stole from my account. I stopped here out of desperation because I was starving & didn't want typical chain fast food like most places that were in the area. My buddy recommended this place because he's eaten here before & said the food was good. I ordered a cheeseburger, cheese fries & a cup of water, my total was $8 & change. As I waited for my food to come out, I kept looking at my receipt. $4.90 for the burger, $2.50 for the cheese fries, $0 for the water. When my food was ready, I almost laughed when I saw how little food was on the tray. The burger was a 1/3 lb but looked smaller than a quarter pounder from McD's & had no flavor. The cheese fries were good, but you need to use a fork since cheese is poured on the fries & they're a mess to eat. Next time, I would try ordering fries with a side of cheese since the fries were good, but got soggy after a while of sitting in liquid cheese. I was surprised to only see about 7 people in the place on a Friday night, but maybe this is more of a lunch destination. I was a little disappointed at how little food I got for the price I paid, but that's the risk I take for getting a burger at a place that specializes in other things. I haven't been here in awhile (used to go quite often years ago). This place does make AMAZING beef sandwiches. When I first started going, I'd get the cheesy beef with hot peppers soggy (the cheddar cheese is like that processed nacho cheese you get at gas stations, still very yummy tho!, the mozzarella cheese is the real stuff)..anywho, huge sandwich not stingy on cheese, peppers or au jus. Really good cheese fries here too. They have large fries and douse them in cheddar cheese (much better than the places that give you 'shoestring fries' and a tiny cup of cheese).
