Great food but service is hit or miss. Above average food comes with above average prices. Service can be extremely slow and haphazard.

Went to mr. Chefs for some food due to my other two favorite spots in stoughton being closed and the first thing they did was give me an hour wait for pick up. I return in a hour get home and the food is cold and stale like if the order been sitting for about 45 minutes. Don't think I'll ever be stopping here again waste of money and time!!! read more

Have you ever been really craving sushi and your friends either hate it outright or just don't want it as often as you do. Well Mr. Chef is the answer. It has a nice variety of Chinese cuisine as well as Japanesse items including sushi and some Thai dishes such as Pad Thai. I have sampled a little from each of the regional options and I have not yet been disappointed. Friends I have dined with have reported that the spicy level of a dish can range from time to time though. Since I stay away from the very spicy items I can't confirm that finding. They have quite a few signature sushi rolls including a Red Sox Maki, Black Dragon Maki, and the Paradise Maki which are a little more pricey arounf $12 each. The Paradise Maki is very tasty though and I think it is worth it. The restaurant has a eat in and take out/delivery options. I have never eaten in the restuarant but I have been inside to pick food up. The dining area is small but nice. People may think that since they are trying to cover such a wide variety and styles of cusine they may all be sub par compared to establishments that specialize in just one, but I disagree in this case. I think they do a great job. I would recomend trying it out. read more

I could eat sushi every day of my life and if this was the only place available I'd be O.K. with it. super nice wait staff and fresh, fresh sushi. I ordered the Chirashi bowl and while the selection of 'chef's choice' fish was standard, it was all delicious and prepared excellently. the rice underneath was well seasoned and moist. The other members of my party ordered an array of rolls and the volcano looked and tasted amazing. great sized portions and decent prices for the amount of food you get. my only complaint would be their bar, or lack thereof. not a huge selection but they did only recently acquire a liquor license so that could be the reason. super small dining room so i'd say keep your party to 6 or less. read more

Such great people, their crab Rangoons are so delicious. They always have your food ready by the time they provide you. They have such a professional environment, if you are dining in they are always coming around asking if you need anything else, and if it's take out they are always on time. Workers were very friendly and approachable. We had no issues with our servers, they were great. We got a bunch of sushi to share and our favorite was the volcano maki. Definitely the one thing you need to try if you come here. The sushi was just okay, not as fresh as I've had elsewhere. But the price is not bad here if you're looking for a light meal. Our wait time was kind of long, but understandable since we ordered a lot. We just expected the food to come out as they were made, but everything came out altogether. One thing I wouldn't recommend is the salmon nigiri. I was expecting fresh, raw salmon but instead we got smoked salmon which left a weird taste in our mouths. read more

We love it here. The food is lighter than most Chinese around town and by far so much better. The combo platers are hearty and reasonably priced. It is easy to get something for everyone and include sushi. Dine in or carry out they are quick and eager to please. Love the House Fried Rice, Lo Mein, Crab Rangoon, Orange Beef are really tasty. I was there recently and it was a terrible experience. The server was awful, very forgetful, took a very long time to take an order, it took forever to get my food, it took a long time to get my check/pay the bill and it was a very unprofessional atmosphere. The food was just ok. The edamame came out room temp, not hot, the sushi rolls were ok but the experience was awful. Oh Mr Chef, I ha such high expectations based on your reviews and some personal recommendations. Unfortunately I was disappointed. I will preface though that Mr Chefs's service is actually very good, where they fell short was flavor. I called for take out tonight to avoid the bitter cold, and felt welcomed by the very kind and sweet girl who answered the phone. She was pleasant, made me feel important and answered all of my questions. She also told me that my take out order was going to be about 35 minutes when in fact it was only about 20. (Points! especially for a Friday night.) The food however was not as high ranking as the pleasant staff! I ordered the beef fried rice (not bad), Sweet and Sour Soup (flavorless and far from spicy), Sweet potato tempura (ehhhhhh) and Peking Ravioli (On their suggestion, but also lacking in flavor) I actually feel bad b/c with the exception of the poor food, they did make the experience quite nice. But with the less than flavor food, I have to give this one a 2 star which covers the great staff, and quick delivery. read more

This is my favorite Chinese food! We come up all the way from the Cape to eat it! I haven't ordered anything on the menu that hasn't been a hit. My husband loves the udong with tempura. He says it's the best Asian food we've had since we've moved here from Korea. The waitstaff is always friendly and they go above and beyond to keep customers happy. after the dozenth time dining in here, and many more doing take out and delivery, I felt I was qualified to write my review. This place is great. Easily the best chinese/japanese place I've found. From spicy shrimp to scallion pancakes to sweet potato Maki they CONSISTENTLY impress. Waitstaff is incredibly courteous and friendly. On several occasions I have had a cook come out from the kitchen to tell me to have a good night. The interior of the restaurant, while small, is clean and bright. Being tired of the expen$$$$ive Chinatown, I decided to try Mr. Chefs. After all, they had a decent rating here on Yelp and their prices seemed more reasonable. Sadly, not good news to report. I ordered take out: Moo shi pork, Kung Pao chicken, and Szechuan spicy green beans. My overall bill was decent, that made me happy. When I returned back to my house with the goods, I was dismayed to find out that they left out the moo shi pork despite reviewing the order with me. They had included the pancakes, but no filling. I called them back up and they said they would have it ready for me if I return. Disgruntled, I drove back. The hostess was embarrassed, kept trying to make it seem better with nervous chitchat that was just plain irritating. Never once did she offer to refund me the cost of the moo shi pork or offer me a credit towards something in the future. For my double trip, I feel they should have offered something. I then returned with my food back to my house. My husband goes to serve it up. The moo shi pancakes were stuck together in a solid mass. Turns out the restaurant used wheat tortillas instead of rice pancakes. I have NEVER seen that before. Overall, the food was well spiced and there were adequate portions of veggies to meat. However, all of the sauces seemed very sweet, not so savory, and very goopy. Service: mistake not properly acknowledged. Food: only mediocre. Certainly nothing that made up for the previous mistake. We had to wait 30 minutes for our food to be served and saw two later customers get served before we did. The staff wasn't professional either. I am not a fan. Went there when was new to area and it looked nice from the outside but it was basically a take out place. I wouldn't recommend anyone bring a date here for sushi. Just had take out and ordered a sushi roll, mango fried rice, and honey chili chicken wings. Sounds awesome but fell short. The wings were so soaked in sauce they were inedible even in my own house. A friend and I decided to try Mr. Chef's a while ago, for lunch, and oh what a disaster! Firstly, the food took forever to come and being on a lunch break means one is limited to time. Even getting the menu and taking down our orders were time consuming. Secondly, after waiting for what seemed like forever, my friend's salmon arrived and it was raw. We told the waitress and said we didn't have enough time to eat it there so they could just box it up. This was a mistake as we had to wait almost double the time we waited in the first place. In the Stoughton area, we have 5 Chinese restaurants in a 2 mile radius. That being said, we have an abundance of decent choices in the limits of the town. With that being said, I like Mr. Chef's. I find that when I get things off the menu as opposed to the standard combination plates, it's actually excellent. Or, if I order my dish made specifically to my liking, (Kung pao chicken, hold the celery) it's fresh and awesome. The atmosphere is pleasant in the dining room. It is not a huge dining room. It best accommodates parties of 2 or 4. Take out is pretty fast. The prices are about what you would expect. A combination plate will run you around $10 by the time you have added in the tax. They elegantly prepare the dishes with sculpted radish roses and orchids, which makes the presentation nice. If you are ordering the standard appetizer/pork fried rice fare, you might not be incredibly impressed. It's perfectly fine, but it wont knock your socks off. This restaurant offers Japanese/Sushi offerings also, but I have never tried Sushi. read more

The place is very small. When you walk in there is a sushi bar with 6 seats. The side with the bar has maybe two tables and there are seven tables on the other side. The restaurant is bright and nicely decorated, Dinner conversation did have to compete with a television on the wall. We ordered saki and the waitress asked if we wanted the house or the other hot variety. I asked if the other was better and she thought so but brought over a small glass of the house for each of us to compare. We liked the non-house better, but drank the house too. We had Hot & Sour, Miso, and Vegetable & Tofu Soup (requested to make it spicy). All were very good. We also had Szechuan Fish and it was sweet & spicy and not too greasy, Sake Kinuta Maki - thinly sliced daikon radish marinated in sweet vinegar, rolled with salmon, avocado, cucumber, scallions and flying fish roe - they didn't have daikon so I agreed to a cucumber substitute. It was good but I wouldn't order it again. Eating it with chop sticks didn't work very well because they were too slippery and the fish was too chopped and mushy. The flavor was nice though. We also ordered our usuals- Sweet Potato Maki, Spicy Tuna Maki, and a California roll. Everyone was happy with their meal but we wouldn't go out of the way for it. read more

I get takeout from here occasionally and there were some things i liked and some things i hated, so i have mixed feelings about this place. The dumplings are great, chicken fried rice, lo mein, teriyaki are all delicious options. The sushi is good, but i've definitely had better. I absolutely hated the pad thai here :( literally, a bunch of rice noodles stuck together into a blob, plain chicken on top and sprouts. It needs some sauce and some brown sugar in there for sure. I'm a bit of a pad thai connoisseur and this one came all the way at the bottom of my list. Mr. Chef's is my families GO TO spot for Chinese Food. It's a bit of a drive from my home, but it's worth it. We always get Take Out. It's a clean, comfortable restaurant with seating for Dining In. It's small and quaint, but you should be able to be seated anytime you come. Not all Chinese places you can trust, but this one you can. I'm very particular with the places I eat. You can see through to the kitchen, though it's not an open kitchen concept restaurant. The owner and staff are always friendly. They have a Sushi Bar if that's a delicacy you enjoy. After your 10th visit, you get a free appetizer for all orders over 15$ per visit. I have no idea why I haven't reviewed them until now. I've been going for 8 years. Go to Mr. Chef's. I hope you enjoy it. And try the Szechuan Spicy Beef if you eat red meat. read more

Most everything here is really good. The service people are very nice and friendly! Sometimes they even offer free hot tea if you have to wait awhile for a takeout order. The beef teriyaki is The. We eat here often. Discovered a couple of years ago by accident - only place open during a nasty winter storm. Delivered to my door. The food is excellent. My wife and I go basically for the sushi and our 2 boys get Chinese which. We also get pad Thai as a main dish. I am very particular about my sushi and it's quality. Every time I have been here everything is as fresh as can be. The quality is top notch. I stopped in for lunch one day after golf and Michael asked me what kind of sushi I wanted. I just let him create a dish and I was very pleased and full. No junk and new stuff to try! The staff is very friendly and always greets us immediately with a smile. The service is good and the food comes out quickly, but not too quickly. The dining room is small and i think most of the business is take out. Never had a problem getting a seat. They only serve wine and beer, so no exotic Asian drinks. Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed. read more

The food is just okay, nothing terrible but it won't blow your hair back. The biggest problem at this restaurant is the inconsistent waitstaff I've had interesting experiences with the guy with the ponytail if he comes at me with one more of his crazy jokes or comments I don't know if I can handle it...there is usually a nice lady at the front who's customer service skills seem to be great, I wish she was more involved instead of just taking phone orders. read more

After my favorite Chinese food restaurant burned to the ground, (RIP Cheng Du), my girlfriend and I decided to try some takeout from Mr. Chef's. We've been coming back ever since. Very fresh ingredients, lots of flavor, and good prices. I've tried many things on their menu at this point and have yet to be disappointed. If you're looking for Chinese food in the Stoughton area, skip by Chinatown (sorry Chinatown, quality seems to have gone way done in recent years) and try this place out.
