    Burger!
    Brian V.

Solid burger joint and good drinks as well. Our waitress was awesome! We had a large group and sat upstairs, and she was in the mix of it with us which we loved. Good ribbing and strong recommendations. -Excellent burgers and fries. -Wings we're tasty as were the fried pickles for an app. -plenty of other dishes everyone enjoyed. I'll be back. F

Looks better than they taste. Luke warm, rubbery skin chicken wings.

Stopped in as a second choice. Area was busy. Service here was painfully slow. The chicken wings were rated 2/5. I hate my wings without a crispy or grilled texture. You could easily pull off the soft, fatty skin and the wings were warm not hot. I even questioned to myself if they were cooked enough. I would not recommend getting wings. We got the smash burgers. Two 1/4 pound patties. On the dry side. You get charge extra for cheese. You can also add on toppings and sauce for an extra charge. Sides are a la carte. Large truffle fries was not that large. Barely shareable w 2 people. All and all, I would move on to a different restaurant. I was not impressed. Also, the menu is very limited.

    Rodeo Burger

First time coming here and was happy to say the food was amazing. Got the Mozzarella Fritters and the Garlic Bread to start for the table, both of which were well seasoned and perfectly paired with marinara sauce. Then for the main course, the rodeo burger with a side of parmesan fries cooked exactly to medium with tons of flavor. As for the service and environment, our waiter had to tend between our group of 4 and a loud and obnoxious group of drinkers. After delivering our food she was gone out of sight until we needed the check. Overall food was great, however service was lacking in terms of hospitality and respect for other paying customers.

Wow! What a great place. Sandy was so efficient in getting our group situated and making sure we were seated in a timely manner. ( we had one group of 3 who preferred the bar and one of 3 who preferred a table). She handled the influx of people on MLK day weekend professionally and friendly. She had a inviting demeanor and was very accommodating. She even checked up on us after we were seated to see how we were doing. The food was GREAT! Tasty and filling. Portion size was perfect. Adding pictures to confirm! Would definitely come again.

Mr. Darcy's is such a great spot for live music, great food and has an incredible staff. They have outdoor seating available and you can bring your dog! The vibe is definitely casual, and it's a great place to bring your family. We got this MASSIVE bacon wagyu beef burger with Vermont goat cheese, smashed avocado, and chipotle mayo. We also tried the baked Brussels sprouts for an app. Absolutely delicious! The only reason I took off a star was because the avocado on the burger wasn't fresh, but other than that we had a great experience.

We were visiting the area and had passed by this place a few times and thought we would give it a try for dinner. The menu is mostly Italian fare, but I opted for the mac and cheese (always a risk for me in a restaurant as I am uber picky about my mac and cheese.) It was super hot so the first few bites were hard to taste but after it cooled down a bit it was quite good for restaurant mac and cheese. My husband ordered the chicken parmigiano which he said was good but not his favorite. He didn't eat the accompanying spaghetti because he said the sauce tasted like canned tomato and not much else. The service was good and the ambiance was nice. I would go back, but it would probably not be until I had tried some other places first.

    El Diablo burger with fries
    Ann P.

This is a spot we come to every time we are in Ludlow. The fries are to die for. Tonight I had the Diablo burger, hubby had chicken parm, 8 year old son had a burger with fries (there is no burger on the kids menu), 5 year old had the kid's chicken fingers. The chicken finger portion was generous and were eaten all up! The Diablo burger wasn't spicy and the chicken parm had a lot of oregano. Satisfied once again! February 11, 2019 - UPDATE We are back for our yearly trip to Okemo. I need to decrease stars. The host, David was unwelcoming, unfriendly and never smiled. Why is this guy the first person you see??? He really should stay back of house. On to the food. I had El Diablo burger again and this year was a kick to it, which was good. Otherwise, the plate/presentation was messy, they didn't sprinkle any truffle on the fries and thee fries were sitting in a pool of oil. My friend had the short rib bourguignon and said it was just so-so. It had only 2 little pieces of beef. My husband had the prime rib sandwich and it was missing the horseradish sauce. He said "this place is a burger and beer place". Enough said. Mr. Darcy, we want to keep coming back but you're turning into a run-of-the-mill burger joint.

    The Frenchie Burger
    Matt L.

While staying in the area for a long weekend, the craving for a good burger overpowered me which landed my girlfriend and I here for dinner. I had The Frenchie burger topped with French Brie and caramelized onions which was delicious. The truffle fries with Parmesan were great as well and my girlfriend had the Fog Horn Leg Horn. All in all, the food, drinks and service was good and we look forward to coming back next time we're in the area.

My husband comes here after work a few times a year and he loves it. After a hard day/night's work when I know he isn't looking after himself, Mr. Darcy's staff and menu reboot him back to a human again. He loves the menu and the good costumer service. Special shout out for the mozzarella sticks, the hamburger and the friendly servers. Especially Nathan. Thank you so much for remembering what we like and for going that extra mile to make things exceptional. Comfort meets class. A++

The Wagyu burger, truffle fries, and Brussels sprouts. The BEST burger I've ever had in my life.

This business is closed for good. It was part of the flood that hit Ludlow. It was a fine restaurant but it is no longer.

For a starter, I ordered the shrimp cocktail. It was fine, though the shrimp were a bit rubbery. My entrée was the beef Wellington. The pastry outside was crisp, but the steak inside lacked seasoning and didn't have much flavor. The service was friendly but slow. There was only one server covering four or five tables at the same time, which made it hard to keep up, especially since the dining room was fairly busy. I understand it may be off-season, but one server for a full room wasn't enough. It wasn't a terrible experience, but it wasn't great either. With some improvements to seasoning and staffing, it could be much better.

All of the dishes are classics and the kitchen doesn't take any risks. Our filet mignon needed a bit more sear and the lamb ribs had a tasty mustard crust but not enough of it. Everything needed more seasoning. Especially the steamed vegetables, which were served plain and really needed something to bring out the flavor. Not a bad dining experience, but has the potential to be so much more, especially at this high end price point.

Our server was very friendly and efficient even on a super busy night like the one we came on. Once our food came we all agreed - best Irish pub food we've ever had! The chicken wings were super crispy as well as the fish and chips. I normally don't care for corned beef and cabbage, but it tasted better here than where ever I've had it in the past and the shepherd's pie filling was juicy with a lot of flavor. The selection of entrée items is absolutely the most I've ever seen in a restaurant, it made it hard to decide. I asked the waitress and she said the chicken Cordon Bleu was one of the top items so that's what I picked. It was basic stuffed ham n cheese in the chicken breast, it wasn't breaded, which I liked. It was smothered in a kind of a gravy or white sauce, not quite sure what sauce it was. Hot fresh baked rolls, a basic chopped iceberg lettuce house salad and baked potato included. Also ordered was the chicken tender dinner, very plentiful, enough for 3 people I'd say. Sadly the dipping honey mustard was so bad, like salad dressing with vinegar flavor, not good! I had a glass of Merlot, I'm not sure I've seen an eight dollar glass of wine on a menu in the last decade, so that was pleasant. In general, the server was very efficient, the host not so friendly, and the place was spacious but has very dated decor, which some may consider part of its charm. Unfortunately we're sitting by some very noisy people, taking phone calls and playing sports out loud on their phones acting like they owned the place, kind of ruined atmosphere. But they knew the staff and must think that behavior was acceptable. Bottom line we needed to eat and it was food.

In my nearly 30 years now working in, with, and patronizing the food and beverage industry, I've never experienced such repugnant service as what Suzy and I had at The Downtown Grocery. I should point out that we weren't just the usual tourist who come to Ludlow to ski. We actually lived here for several years, and I couldn't post this review until we moved away because of the owner's repeated behavior of attacking people on social media who disagree with or criticize him. The food here is "fine", it's not actually bad or anything. But it is tiny in portions (a rarity for Vermont), and it's overly "chef-y" without actually executing well. It's one of those places where the chef probably thinks that he would get a Michelin star if only they would come to see him, but I can tell you having eaten at over 100 cumulative Michelin stars in my life this is nowhere close. It fails in flavor, presentation, and execution. But again, not terrible. The setting is actually kind of nice too, somewhat homey which is juxtaposed and ruined by the arrogance of the staff. If you don't mind being guaranteed to wait well beyond your actual reservation time, and then waiting probably another hour just to get some meager first courses, then maybe this is the place for you? I doubt it though, there are so many options just in Ludlow alone, and even more that are worth the 45 minute drive to Woodstock or Manchester to avoid having to eat here if you want a "nice" meal. Whatever you do absolutely avoid coming any time near "stick season" or "mud season" (Vermonters will know) because you're guaranteed to get even worse service then. Ludlow has a ton of restaurants for such a small town, many of them quite good. This is the ONLY place we actively recommended friends and guests of ours to avoid. Even the crappy fake taco place down the street got occasional business over this place due entirely to the repeated piss poor attitude of the two owners.
