I love American Diners and that includes this one. I went to a Mr. D's in Kingman AZ and loved it.... i assume this one's related to that? Perfect to visit if you're traveling on the neighboring 210 freeway. The interior and exterior are classic yet well maintained. The staff were friendly and attentive on my visit. My order of the Cowboy Burger was pretty decent; not mind blowing in the taste department considering all of the ingredients, but still pretty good. The accompanying steak fries were tasty. I ordered a Pineapple Milkshake since it seemed a lil different from the usual options; it was thick and creamy and not a huge portion. The menu is very extensive and a lil overwhelming. There's something for everyone. All in all, a good Sunday morning meal. read more

This has been my Sunday go-to spot for breakfast since I moved from Pasadena. I get a Payday omelette or a Chili and cheese omelette with grilled veggies (no onion), and toast. I'm glad I've come here long enough to know Gaby and Rachel by name. They know my order. The food quality has always been consistently good, and I have nothing to knock on in this area. There are other regulars, and I'm glad a number of us continued to order takeout through Covid lockdowns to see the restaurant recover and come back to full-service. Even with the rainy weather this week, it's nice to see loyal and repeat customers coming through. This is a diner that has great food and better service. 11:20am February 15, driving through LaVerne CA. Closest street baseline. 919 Foothill blvd. Stop to eat at Mr. D's Dinner for lunch. As we entered restaurant I saw a booth that could seat 4 people and more than 6 counter seating available. We weren't greeted as we entered the restaurant so we stood in front of the register and looked through menu's. A staff member walked by me as if I was invisible. Another staff member inside of severing counter next to register made eye contact with me NO WORDS. A staff member is on his phone on the clock pretending like he doesn't see us. Another awesome staff member who doesn't use her words but sees me . Finally, a staff members who DID NOT say hello but , we did get a! be right with you. She finally came back and seated my husband. While waiting I entered the restroom to wash my hand and it was disgustingly dirty just like the service I experienced. I'm going to say that we dodged a bullet from getting food poisoning. A Route 66 detour real fast for a meal. Was heading east from Los Angeles county and found this while browsing Yelp. Mostly wanted a break from driving and a quick meal but stayed once I saw they had some outside dining. Shared a bit of food with my travel companion. The meatloaf was delicious and reminded me of a home cooked meal like my family used to make. The loaded tater tots were the best part so I suggest giving those a shot. A good spot to try. After driving past this restaurant many times, I finally decided to stop and give it a try. I had been wanting to for a while because of it's 50s style and I'm glad I finally tried it. The service I received was absolutely great and the food was wonderfully tasty. Plus...their coffee servings are generous! False advertising and deceptive business practices. My wife and I have eaten at Mr. D's several times, we found the food to be average at best, but they are local and we like doing business in our own hometown. We have driven by Mr. D's and noticed they have two giant banners on top of their building for a breakfast special, $6.99 with two options. we figured that we would give our local restaurant another chance and went into order the breakfast special and were told that we were too late, another waitress said it's only Monday through Friday. Looking at their sign. It shows a breakfast special and open 9:30. It doesn't say anything about any kind of time constraint or days of the special. so, we left the restaurant and will never be back. I called the manager of the restaurant right after we left and all I got was lame excuses from him about the special, I told him to go outside and read what his sign says. I'm sure that anyone looking at this banner that is displayed on both Route 66 and baseline Avenue shows of deceptiveness. I'm not sure if this type of sign based on its location is legal to display in the city of La Verne? If this is the way this business treats seniors, then I can no longer patronize this business and it's up to you if you want to patronize us business that advertises like this, local or not! We ordered food for takeout, which was very good. We didn't get the garlic bread however. We also were shocked at the tipping options online for a $29.75 takeout bill.... $18, $20, or $22 AKA between 61%-74% for a tip? I mean even $5.95, a 20% tip, is very generous on a takeout order. I rarely leave reviews, but the service was so good I felt compelled to write this. First off, we have a large family (16) and my daughter was turning 6. She asked to have her bday party dinner at Dennys. I called one to give them a heads up we are a large party and they were beyond rude and ended the conversation with "we only have one server tonight, so it's going to be a long time before we would get to you" well... no thank you, I'll just go somewhere else. I called Mr Ds super last minute and was treated like family! They accommodated us and went above and beyond. Our server was Jocelyn and not only did she do amazing serving a large group, she added a special touch to my daughters bday pancakes. I turned to my husband and said.. "wow, our server is so nice, what a breath of fresh air you don't normally see in this world" The entire staff sang happy birthday , split the checks without issues, service was fast and the food was great. Order: Chocolate Chip Pancakes and the Denver Omelette. Service: Drinks a little late, SEVERELY UNDERSTAFFED, CLEARLY dirty coffee cup, refills for it took FOREVER, and there was no cleanup for outside seating. Food: The pancakes were tasty and reheated well later on. The Denver omelette my mom ordered was delicious and definitely worth the wait. Overall: Don't come on weekends unless you have a lot of leisure time. They are severely understaffed for the amount of people coming in. Usually love this place but today they make me feel disrespected and were completely unprofessional. Got there and the cashier told us they were cleaning a booth and we could sit there then we sat and were looking at our menus. I guess there was someone who requested a booth before and sat us before "they were so mad" according to the server and asked us to move tables. We left instead because it made us feel so belittled. It was also very discriminating, a white lady complaining vs some Latinos we took the higher road and left instead. Hope the party of 2 grump old hags we're content. They lost some good customers. This really pains me to do this because I really like this place, however, if you are going to do delivery you MUST make sure to do a good job with it and give the same attention to detail to you delivery clients as you do your eat in clients. This is the second time that I have ordered food on PostMates and have had my order shorted. This a a big problem especially since each plate costs on an average of 3.00 bucks more to be delivered. The first time my grand child's chicken tenders plate was totally missing and this time my 3 poached eggs were missing from my country fried steak and eggs plate. The food was okay but this review is more for the customer service. I placed an online order for curbside pick-up. I arrived, parked in the furthest stall for mobile orders and received a text that my food was ready. Instructions say to call their number when you've arrived so I did. An employee named Yesenia answered and I proceeded to tell her I had placed an order for curbside pickup. With an unnecessary amount of attitude, she asked "well are you here?" I replied with yes ma'am. She said ok and confirmed that my order was ready. She then asked where I was parked and I let her know I was at the very end. Again, with attitude she asked "at the very end...of the parking lot?" I said at the very end of their curbside spots (because where else would I pick up ??). She asked what vehicle I was in which I had included when I placed my order. Someone then brought my food out without further issue. Been here a few times, seen some customers feel entitled on how they should be served and seen the pleasant side of customers understanding small businesses hurting to find potential employees. The point is the staff was low staffed when we dined (like one person working the entire floor), actually working hard to accommodate everyone and was yelled at because she wasn't fast enough for them. I can see if the employee was taking their time but this employee was working hard to satisfy everyone in that restaurant. Kudos!! The food was served hot with a smile and positive attitude. My son and I enjoyed our father son quality breakfast. I have yet to come across negative employees here always been respectful and helpful with recommendations from the the menu. This is our usual spot when we take friend for breakfast. We like the many options offered. The service as usual was good. We normally are able to be seated promptly. Our waitress was great and even though she was busy she was still able to check on us a few times and refill coffee which is always a plus. The prices are reasonable. My wife and i have enjoyed this comfortable retro-dinner for several years and this morning we stopped in for breakfast. The Route 66 decor takes you back in time as you drive up and enter the doors, so that's a good start. As for our breakfast, our eggs were prepared deliciously, the portions of the sides were generous and the salsa was zesty. Our servers were friendly and attentive and our order arrived quickly. My First time here to check out another 1950s diner in East San Gabriel Valley. The nearest one to this establishment is Legends in Glendora. 1) Parking: There is ample amounts of parking but it seems like it's always crowded on the weekends. 2) Restaurant: This is a sit in diner where you will wait till they get your tables ready. It feels like a Denny's and a bit cramped. 3) Service: I commend them on their service. Everyone appeared to have a smiley face and very they were very eager to serve us. 4) Food: There's a plethora of items on the menu which probably was hard to pinpoint what they were actually really good at making. They had all day breakfast which sounds awesome. To me it appears their burgers, sanwhiches and breakfast are the safest bet to order. My family and I went the other way another order a Greek Gyro, Carne Asada Breakfast and Speghetti for the kids. My kids are 3 and 5 and 1 kids meal is enough for them to share. The food i thought was edible until i saw the waitress, a young lady with red hair & acrylic green nails, scrape off a waffle, tap the knife in the disposal bin & keep scrapping with the same knife she tapped on the trash bin. They served this waffle to some poor customer (i assume it was their cheap & disgusting way to fix a mixed up order of toppings on the waffle) It's really awful, STAY AWAY !!!! Service was really slow. From the time we sat down to the time our order was taken, it was 15 minutes. Once we placed our order, it was another 30 minutes until we got our food. The food was cold. The chilaquiles were horrible. Egg on top of chips with green sauce, that is it. Go to Butter for great chilaquiles. Won't be going back to Mr. D's. That is for sure. read more
