I'm gonna have to give this a place 3 stars, but this is totally based off one visit and I only tried three drinks on their menu: 1) Watermelon milk: Don't know why he likes fruity milk drinks...I think they're gross. I saw that they used real watermelon to make this though, so that's kinda a good thing that they use fresh ingredients. But this wasn't something I'd ever order myself. It tastes like watermelon juice with milk.. 2) Bubble milk tea: I felt like I haven't had regular milk tea in a while so I decided to try this. They ran out of boba so I decided to get grass jelly. Didn't turn out to be a great combo. It gave the milk tea a medicinal taste. Got a different drink instead. 3) Rose green milk tea: Been into rose tea lately so I decided to try this. They had boba ready this time. This was definitely better than the milk tea and watermelon milk. Don't really like how there's rose petals in my drink...gotta spit it out the window on the drive back to SJ lol. It kinda tastes like rose jam shower gel from Lush (I got weird descriptions of how things taste so don't listen to me). The location was pretty clean and well lit. It wasn't too crowded when we went and we got our drinks fairly quickly. They had TONS of drink options which was a little overwhelming for indecisive people like me. You can customize level of ice/sweetness to your liking! They had board games to play, but I didn't know any of them...but we tried playing Battle of the Sexes. Thumbs up to all the 90s R&B they were playing while we were there :) Would possibly give this place another try only if I'm in the area. After having lunch with a friend we still had some room for some bubble tea and this was the closest location, so we decided to give it a try. This place is located on the corner of the street in Piedmont, but for some reason it was difficult to find. Walking in to the bubble tea place, the place is like seriously green...they really are "Mr. Green Bubble" where I think I might be a little tired of the color. They have a lot of variety on their menus and just like other bubble tea locations, you can customize your drink in terms of sugar level, amount of ice, boba, jelly, or popping jelly. They also offer egg puffs, and popcorn chicken. Not only was this place very green, but they also had unique seatings which I thought was cool. They do not accept credit cards if your order is less than $5. While you're there they have board games for groups to play. Stopped by here after seeing this for the first time, as I'm always in the mood for boba and always willing to try a boba place I haven't been to before. The interior is really fresh and welcoming, keeping true to the name of Mr. Green Bubble with a green and white color sheme and modern, rounded furniture. The line was short and we got helped quickly, so I ordered the banana milk and added boba; there's only one size drink here, but the standard is the size a large usually is at most bubble tea places, which is generous. However, for some reason a small can only be ordered with two particular drinks on the menu, otherwise everyone gets the same size drink. The menu is extensive, with lots of different milk teas, flavored milks, hot teas, coffee drinks, and snacks to choose from. Adding boba is a fifty cent charge, and my drink, standard, was $3.75, but came out to $4.25 with the boba. I guess the flipside to getting a large drink is paying more for it here than at most other bubble tea places. They move quickly to make your drink, but honestly they're a little sloppy here as a result; the guy behind the counter would scoop ladles of tap or jelly into the cup haphazardly, splashing the syrup everywhere and putting too much of it in the bottom of the cup. My banana milk was delicious, but I dislike when I can taste the syrup the tapioca is in at the bottom of my drink, rather than just the drink itself. $4.25 for milk blended with a banana with tap seems a but steep when I can go to, say, Tapioca Express and order a large drink for a bit cheaper, but it was good nonetheless and the wide array of choices on the menu along with the cute interior of the shop earns this place an extra star. But it's a $5 minimum to use your card, so make sure to have some cash if you're only ordering a drink. read more

Mr. Green Bubble was founded in 2010 on Piedmont Avenue. I have been going to Mr. Green Bubble ever since they opened. They specialize in serving premium hand-crafted tea from Taiwan and Japan along with a large selection of snacks such as popcorn chicken, tofu, and chicken wings. Everytime we would drive by Green Bubble, my dad would always say "there is no way Mr. Green Bubble will make it; they are going to close soon." Little did he know, they would be open for another 13 years. In fact, they now have 8 locations. When I was younger, my drink of choice was Thai iced tea with boba and popcorn chicken. As I have gotten older, I find that I usually order the original milk tea with boba and fried tofu, spice level 1. Surprisingly, spice level 1 has enough heat without being overwhelming. Mr. Green Bubble is my go-to boba place and they can count on me to remain a loyal customer - even as boba shops continue to open around them. I find that their drinks are consistent and they offer a wide variety of options for when I am looking for something new and different. The staff is quick and friendly and always seem to make an effort to say hi to each customer. It is very kid friendly and they even have games and toys in the back part of the store. If you are ever in the area and craving boba tea, I recommend you go to Mr. Green Bubble. Although the service can sometimes be slow, it is a local boba tea place and everything always tastes great. The store opened Spring 2010 and still looks relatively new. It's bright, clean, and green-themed with green tile, green paint, green cup tops, and green straws. The rest of the interior is white or light wood, making the space feel wide and open. The lighting fixtures and furniture are stylish and modern. You can't miss this place at nighttime, as the store is luminously lit up. The menu boasts about 30 different varieties of milk tea, 30 regular teas, a half dozen fruit juices, a half dozen flavors of milk, parfaits, 30 smoothies, coffee and tea lattes, and 4 flavors of froyo. If you're hungry, deep-fried Asian snacks are available as well. The drinks come in one size and almost all are priced at $3.55 each. Toppings such as bubbles (tapioca pearls), jelly, aloe vera, pudding, and nuts are $0.50 each. Compared to a bubble tea joint like Quickly, this is expensive. However, Mr. Green Bubble is cleaner and nicer than Quickly. The other drinks are in the same $3 price range. There are three sizes of froyo: 8oz small ($2.95), 12oz medium ($4.25), and 16oz large ($5.55). The four flavors are original plain, coffee, Dutch chocolate, and vanilla. Toppings are additional. I think these prices are roughly comparable to Pinkberry. I've tried three teas here: the brown rice milk tea, lavender milk tea, and the yogurt green tea. According to one of the workers, the brown rice milk tea is one of the more popular milk teas on the menu. I enjoyed the brown rice milk tea. It's flavoring was subtle, as was the lavender milk tea, which was light and aromatic. The one significant difference in the milk teas at Mr. Green Bubble compared to other places is Mr. Green Bubble's milk teas are not super sweet. I appreciate that because milk teas are often loaded with unhealthy amounts of sugar. I'm not sure what was going on with the yogurt green tea. It was a little bitter and I don't know where the yogurt component was. The yogurt green tea is not listed under the milk teas, so that should be your first clue to not expect a creamy or milky tea, regardless if the word "yogurt" is in the name. I personally would stick with the milk teas. They're a safer bet. The toppings, such as boba and jellies, are all fresh and appetizingly chewy. Service is fine. Mr. Green Bubble has become my new and terrible (but terribly delicious) addiction. I've known about this place for quite a while but doubted all the hype. The discovery of its perfection and close proximity to my workplace has been a dangerous realization. The milk tea here is great and decently priced. I've tried a few flavors so far, including rose, oolong, and earl grey. I really enjoyed each one of them. In my opinion, the best part is that their regular sugar level (100%) has just the right amount of sweetness, a.k.a. doesn't taste like diabetes. The boba pearls are also made right--fresh and chewy, not that mushy nonsense often found elsewhere. On Fridays and Saturdays, they offer takoyaki, which I personally find to be so exciting! The takoyaki has great flavor and I definitely recommend it. Their popcorn chicken is also excellent. The pieces are crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned really well. Both of these savory snacks are super yummy and not too salty. There's usually a line, but service here is always friendly and pretty fast. The interior is clean and the atmosphere is fun and bright. There are quite a few seats and tables and also BOARD GAMES available to play. Their selection of games is quite good and I didn't recognize many of them. The one bad thing? Parking is sometimes hard to find so you might a have to walk a little. But that's not Mr. Green Bubble's fault :) TRY THIS PLACE. Lame service during COVID. First of all, only online service. Which they don't advertise on their website or on their phone. There's no message indicating that they've switched to online service only. Second, I put in an online order of almost $90 and when I got there 45 minutes later, they said they cancelled it because they were "too backed up". They said they called me twice but I didn't answer so... too bad? They didn't leave a message when they called. I did notice I missed their call and tried to call back, but of course they didn't answer and you can't leave a message (voice-mail all full). Lame customer service! COVID PROTOCOL EXPERIENCE Their new covid protocol is completely contactless, even no over the counter payment transaction. You must go online on their website at clover to order ahead for pick up. (Even if you call to order head, they won't pick it up bc you can ONLY order online thru clover, doordash or UberEats). I thought it was a phenomenon idea to run the business contactless this way. Keep in mind that ordering on clover is slightly cheaper because you don't have to pay doordash or ubereats fees. I went to the store expected to order regularly like gongcha n happy lemon. Then found out about their online order contactless protocol so I immediately went on clover to submit my order. I probably waited 10-15min as expected for eta. Ordering ahead was very simple and convenient. I wish I know the contactless protocol ahead of time so when I drive by I can just pick it up without waiting. We would literally have boba every weekend, but the bad customer service finally chipped away at my love for this place. Staff is always so rude for no reason. They just look at you when you walk in. All of them were pretty good, and I really appreciate how they actually use real fruit for their drinks rather than powder or fruit syrup!! While handing out snacks over the lady dropped a big piece of calamari and just stared at it. I then asked for a replacement and when she asked the cook for it he started yelling at her in their language. She then told me 2 more mins and I said sure. When I came back to pick up the replacement they gave me the exact same piece that she had dropped. I didn't realize it until I came back to our table and at that point I was just done with the staff. Like I said, the food was good but the service was terrible. The boba was nasty! Don't suggest coming here, I ordered a honey milk tea with boba. They have a big menu, but I craved for some honey milk tea. My boyfriend ordered it for me, and we both shared. We got the regular size which was a descent size to share. The wait for our drink to be made was not long. The place setup is cute. I thought this place was hard to find since it's located in the corner. FYI this place have no parking, so you'll need to drive around to look for one. Good luck! So now on to their drink. First sip, gross! The honey milk tea did not taste like milk tea at all. It tasted like water and honey. Really watered down tea with no milk added. Just sayin, honey milk tea isn't hard to make. Second, the boba was not freshly made. It tasted hard and not chewy. Also, when they were scooping out the boba, my boyfriend noticed that it didn't look fresh because they were stored in a cool place. Overall, I wouldn't recommend coming here for their milk teas. Came here on a Friday night around 7. Definitely beat the crowd because about 30 min later, the place was jam packed full of people. Located right across a school so that would probably explain all the teenagers in the place. Ordered a milk tea with lychee jelly and boba and a honey lemon tea. Milk tea tasted pretty sweet. Plus for giving a very generous amount of both toppings I ordered. Took a sip of the honey lemon tea and it tasted like those packs of Vitasoy! Not complaining though.. The fact that it tasted like the Vitasoy packs reminded me of childhood. Another thing that I liked about the honey lemon drink was that they put real slices of lemon in there! I definitely don't see that too often. Cute place overall. They have a rack that they hang their condiments on for the snacks that people order which I thought was pretty neat. This is my favorite bube place in the bay area. Online ordering only which is quick and simple to use. And the Boba is just delicious. I get the jasmine green tea Bube with 25% sweetness and less ice, and it's always perfect. I also really like that they are trying to come in reusable cups. So I keep them and use them for cold drinks on the go at home. The service is really friendly and I really don't think you can go wrong. It's also super great for vegans like me. I've been coming to Mr. Green Bubble since college when they first opened. They used to be the only decent boba spot within a 2 mile radius of campus. We were limited to just Quickly and Sweetheart Cafe...students don't know how good they have it now! While Mr. Green Bubs has a really great selection of fresh fruit and milk teas, I'm not a fan of their boba balls. They're chewy, but not bouncy, and soft to the point where it almost seems bloated. Sometimes they barely fit in my straw! They used to offer macaron ice cream sandwiches from Maven's Creamery, but during my last visit they repurposed the ice cream freezer for ordinary freezer storage. They've expanded their menu to include egg puff waffle cones with ice cream though, which I think is better because it's a made to order item. If you're on Piedmont, they're a solid pick for boba or dessert, but unfortunately not a destination spot for me anymore. read more

My three favorite things about Mr. Green Bubble? 1. SUPER CUSTOMIZABLE DRINKS. Not sure if this is just a personal preference, but I know I hate it when my drinks are overpowered with sweetness that you can't even enjoy your drink OR when there's so much ice that if I just sip it, it gets super water-downed, it's water and not tea/milk tea. If these are some of your concerns too then have no fear, Mr. Green Bubble has you covered! You can choose your sweetness level and how much ice is in it too! I know that many places do this, but I don't know man do they do it with.... 2. REAL TEA. I really love me some quality tea and milk teas & being a native to these parts (510 Wadduppppp), I know that finding good authentic and quality milk tea can be a struggle and I really feel like you find it here. They brew the tea on location and use it to make their drinks, which I really believe adds to the quality of the drinks. They're not just powder and syrup folks. Let me stress it and help ingrain this into your mind - REAL TEA. 3. CUSTOMER SERVICE. I know that other yelpers complained and said that they encountered miserable workers here that were rude or whatnot, but for me this did not happen! I was greeted by a young man at the cashier and he answered the questions of me and my friend and even answered all our questions! It took us some time to decide what we wanted, but when we chose our drinks we certainly were not disappointed. It's not for everyone and some complain about it having an overly floral perfumey kind of taste, but I love Rose Milk Tea. If not that, Jasmine Milk Tea is delicious too! But don't be afraid, try one of their best sellers or ask the staff for their personal faves! This location is also great because it's really clean and has pretty cute decor. It's in Piedmont, a short walk from Oakland Kaiser so I can really see myself coming back here if I'm in the area for doctor's appointments or if I'm just in town! It's a frequent spot for High Schoolers too. No complaints about this. Just an observation and also kind of a warning because thinking back to my past high school days when my friends and I had our go-to food or boba spots, we were usually taking up tables and being there for a good hour or two just hanging out, drinking, and eating snacks! So what should you get from this? Well, #1 it's a good place to hangout and chill with friends and #2 it will make you nostalgic for your youth as you see the hope in the high schooler's eyes. Boba drinks are overall good as I typically just stick to a plain milk tea with boba. Others have gotten flavored drinks and really enjoyed them. The egg puffs are good. The matcha one has no flavor so I would stick with the plain one as that has more flavor/sweetness. As of right now due to the SIP you can only order online. read more

The prices are much better than most milk Tea places that total close to Five dollars after tax. Their small milk tea is $2.50, no tax! Good selection of smoothies, and other drinks and snacks too. Apparently their food gets amazing reviews but I have yet to try it. They have FiveStars with a good rewards program, and free wi-fi, several tables and nice seating areas. The only downside is this place gets packed after 3pm and all the way until late at night when they close at 11pm, and there's nowhere to sit. There is also NO nearby parking at all. I've made it a point to only write 5 star reviews to help businesses and never to write any negatives. Welp, that didn't last long because here I am writing this review. Now first things first, I LOVE their milk tea! I actually come here all the time. BUT, whoever owns this place really needs to train their employees in customer service, ESPECIALLY THE GIRL WORKING REGISTER THIS PAST WEDNESDAY NIGHT AROUND 10pm (10/9/19 to be exact). Her attitude is something else. I rarely get upset or mad, but this girl made me want to flip a table. I seriously wanted to turn around and walk out halfway through my order, but of course, milk tea is life, so I continued. Please please please train your staff about customer service.
