I'm teetering between a 4- and 5- Star review and in a perfect world, I'd give Mr. Mustache 4.5 stars. This is a *very* popular counter so be sure to make extra time to stand in line. There is only one chef working alone and I know he puts his heart into his work! The prices are amazing, yes. But know they're small portions for what you're served. There are no choices for bread so if you're Gluten Free, this probably isn't the sandwich place for you since Focaccia is the bread of choice. If you're sensitive to spicy foods, this probably isn't the place for you since there's spicy ingredients in several sandwiches, as well as the soups (except for Tomato - that's mild and lovely). I've only had the Market chicken sandwich and I'm telling myself it was a fluke: the chicken was rubbery and felt like I got a giant piece of fat. As I mentioned before, I ordered the Tomato soup which was a great side dish. There was another time where the Chef was out of Tomato soup. He offered me the Corn Chowder and I expressed that I wasn't sure asking, "is it spicy?" And he kindly gave me a sample. It's spicy, so I passed. Good man but lack of ingredients and choice is why I don't order here more. But I have no doubt this counter will continue good business with it's endless lines (and fans)! No cash. read more

AHAHAHAHA you're all welcome in advance. No other review talks about HOW to get here, so unless you're ready for a TREK, buckle up. TLDR: underground parking lot to park. Valet only but can be talked out of. Validation is only if u talk to the valets, say you're there for pickup. Otherwise it's $14.50. Go to floor B, take the escalator, not the elevator. Long line. Not fast. Probably good food. PARKING is underground and the entrance to it is a TINY little inlet off the upper street. I had to circle the building multiple times before finally venturing down the tiny driveway. Valet parking is "required" but I chatted w the valet and they let me park myself (thanks guys!!) once parked, find a tiny lobby with elevators, ignore the elevators and go thru giant doors into another bigger lobby- there you'll find escalators. Take it down to FLOOR B. You'll see a directory with a list of a bunch of food places. Turn sharp right and you'll see the looooong line of people (all of whom probably work IN the building and didn't just make the ridiculous trek you just did to get there) waiting to order their lunch. The line does not move quickly. I'm currently standing IN the line as I write. The menu is very simple. You can decide for yourself if the adventure is worth the destination. Im sure the food will be good based on the 100+ reviews only about the food but unless I get a stubborn craving for THAT sandwich and find myself with A LOT of time to spend, or if I land a job IN that building, I won't be coming back. A true hidden gem right smack in the middle of the financial district in downtown LA. This is my preferred grab and go lunch option during the weekday and is totally worth the walk if you're nearby. They are located in the basement level of the city national tower. There's ample seating in that basement reminiscent of a mall food court. You'll always see a line of people, but fear not. This line moves QUICKLY and takes average about 5-10 minutes. The market sandwich is my personal favorite. Simple chicken sandwich with great bread and sauce. I had a good experience the first time when I ordered a sandwich & tomato bisque but on the second time... I ordered a lemon pharm salad & tomato bisque again but received no dressing. If it was sold separately, I wasn't informed. They also gave me no spoon! For $13 for two items - a box of mesculin salad and a small cup of soup, it's a bit too much. Last time, I spent $18 on the soup & sandwich combo. Really oily and far from healthy. I don't feel bad about this review because this place is grossing a lot $$$ per day. The best soup and salad i have had in a long while. The poblano corn chowder was delicious and not overly rich with lean chicken and black beans in it. It had a hint of spice and heat without being overpowering. I got the mediterranean salad without gorgonzola and added chicken. It was very fresh and well balanced with lots of lean well seasoned chicken. I got there early because i saw that there is frequently a long line and took my food to go. The service was excellent and friendly. They were happy to accommodate my removal of the gorgonzola due to an allergy. Next time I will have to try the cookie or the breakfast burrito. read more

I remember getting his sandwiches when he was at that pocket in the wall of the bar at the basement of Flower St. And now he's got his own to-go kitchen in that same basement! The ingredients are super fresh! You will not be disappointed grabbing food here. A mainstay pair are the Herb Chicken sandwich and the corn chowder. The sandwich is toasted on what reminds me of a high quality focaccia bread, brings me back to my days in Florence getting sandwiches at the corner bakery and chowing down by the Arno. The crunch is satisfying and it being freshly toasted is just the cherry on top. The chicken is paired with some thick slabs of bacon and greens, along with a creamy sauce that brings the whole thing together. And the soup may even be better than the sandwich. Creamy, flavorful, sweet with a hint of spice. It had beans and charred corn, pieces of chicken and i think bell pepper? It was so so good! Highly recommend getting a sandwich and soup. This is located with the lemonade and the pho place so there is plenty of food court seating. I also ordered a bowl of tomato bisque, and that was janky - it was a weird orange color and tasted lousy, so I threw it out after a few distasteful spoonfuls (note: I ordered around 2:15, so it had been sitting). Decided to drag a dozen of my co-workers today to try it for the first time and we were all pleased with the quality & price - Good artisan specialty sandwiches & soups at reasonable pricing that's hard to find these days. There were 30+ people waiting in front of us but the line moved quickly attributed to relatively simple menu and operational efficiency. Will definitely go back, probably weekly. read more
