Updated Review - After a bad first experience with the cilantro issue. I decided to give this another try. This time I emphasized the NO CILANTRO lol. I went with the Pollo Saltado and a Tallarin Saltado Pollo. Both dishes were great and when the cook gave the dishes to the front employee, she made sure that he did not put cilantro in it. After it was confirmed that there was no cilantro, she bagged it up and called my number. The chicken was nice and tender and very flavorful. The employees are still wearing masks - which i think is a nice touch in my opinion. The dining area now have tables (it did not during the shut down). The 2 staff members were friendly and kudos for her to make sure my dishes were correct. Will be coming back! read more

This place has been on my bookmarks for years. Maybe a decade. Finally got to try it. Theyre known for their chicken so i got a half chicken with fries and beans. I asked for all the sauces so I could try them all. It's a pretty small store located in a plaza on a busy street. There's a few tables that you can sit at but yeah. Typical fast food looking place with a counter that you order at. The chicken was fall off the bone. Slightly over seasoned and didn't need the sauce much at all. It was pretty delicious. The sauces were kinda meh, Aji was not as spicy as I'm used to (thank god) and felt a bit under-salted. The Chimichurri was really good. The Salsa roja caught me by surprise. They use a v sour addition to kind of give it some flair. maybe a little too strong. I'm pretty sure it's Tamarid but who knows. I was surprised by how good the fries were! Just as I was about to pay, a kitchen worker came out looking very dirty and said there wouldn't be any chicken ready for another 45 minutes. I wasn't willing to wait that long, so I left. Besides that, I noticed the restaurant looked quite dirty overall. The kitchen staff's appearance was unhygienic, they didn't offer the traditional Peruvian sauces that usually come with pollo a la brasa, and even the pictures of the dishes on the wall looked old and grimy. We've been driving to Mr. Pollo from Glendale for years and we keep coming back - this place truly deserves recognition. Our friend's mom recommended it to us and we are so grateful she did. Other Peruvian places we've tried are either stingy with the veggies on their lomos or the sauce, but NOT Mr. Pollo. Their lomo saltado is indescribably delicious and beats any other place I've tried - even Mario's in LA or other places in Glendale. Although we started with just trying their chicken, once we tried the lomo, we were hooked. The aji sauce is to die for and the cilantro oil sauce is just as amazing. Although I do occasionally get the tallarin verde con pechuga de pollo (chicken with pesto), I always have to sneak a few bites of my husband's lomo because it's just that good. The workers at Mr. Pollo are incredibly friendly and kind. Although the place is small, they always manage to seat you quickly. They offer drink refills and takeout containers like the friendly workers at Chick-fil-A - it's truly fantastic service. Chickens on spits roasting in a fire pit. Smells heavenly. Whole chicken meal with two large sides amounted to about $30+ with tax. Juicy and quite flavorful, I didn't even need the sauces, you can choose from three: spicy green sauce, 'Asian flavored sauce,' and Chimichuri. For the whole chicken meal you get 6 little containers, so I chose two of each. I enjoyed the spicy sauce the best. For the two large sides, I got the beans and french fries. Beans were good, fries were lightly salted, just how I like them. The fries came out piping hot, but soggy. I'll enjoy them more when they are crispy. The best part of my meal was the dessert which I enjoyed while waiting for my order. The alfajor was a lightly sweetened, crumbly cookie filled with ooey-gooey caramel. I found Mr. Pollo since I was working nearby and didn't want to hit rush hour. I got lucky at 6pm, minutes before the dinner rush. I was told upfront the wait was 35-40 minutes and I'm ok with that since it means the food is prepared to order. I ordered the Tallarin Verde con Pechuga de Pollo, my 2nd favorite Peruvian dish since they don't have Ají de gallina - but I got it with Ají Verde sauce which was perfect - and, of course, Inca Kola. Great service, they bring your order to the table with real plates and flatware, so eco-friendly. The chicken was a bit dry because it's thin. I'm sure the rotisserie chicken is better. But that's what Ají Verde is for - 2 cups. The spaghetti with spinach/basil sauce is like pesto and was really tasty! Inside had Peruvian art on the walls to add to the theme. Comfortable chairs and tables. Definitely not a romantic date spot, as it's mostly takeout. I'll definitely return when I'm in the area - maybe even sooner since it's 30 min away and not sure I'll find something similar near home - i.e. a good Peruvian meal for $20. read more

I used to love this place but the quality has gone downhill, I was craving lomo saltado and this place used to be great. On Thurs 10/26 I called in 1 order of lomo saltado and 1 order of pollo saltado, picked it up at 11:40am. The meat in both dishes were super tough, either they were overcooked/well done or from the previous day but it was no good. Their beef used to be so tender. I wish I could say it was a one off but the last time I went here maybe a year ago it was similar, I had hoped that time was a one off but it seems not. For the price they charge for this dish it needs to be much much better, the flavor is there but the dry tough meat just ruins the dish. read more

The service from the new girls was great, they are still proving the small to go containers for dine-in which is weird because before they used to have salsa in bottles for dine-in.
