The Lomo Saltado is probably the best dish to order here. It has great flavor and their gravy over the fries is pretty damn good. I am a pesto Queen so I eventually started ordering the Tallarin Verde with the Steak. Unfortunately, each time without failure, the beef is sooo overcooked it's almost inedible. The pasta itself and sauce are terrific, it's the steak I have beef with I suggest ordering the Tallarin Verde with the pollo and not the steak. My son also loves the beans and half chicken order. The chicken has great flavor and is super tender. I would also recommend trying the Aji verde sauce and Chimichurri sauce along with their Maracuya (passion fruit) drink! This place is a small establishment but do not fret and do not get discouraged because they have one of the best rotisserie chicken in the LA area if not the best. My order usually is the rotisserie chicken with rice and plantains with their Aji verde and chimichurri sauce. I also enjoy their tallarín verde con bistec. My family members really love their lomo saltado. Their chicha morada is one of the better ones I've tried, and it's a perfect refreshment in summer. The service is always great and kind. Mr. Pollo -- I've become dangerously addicted to their Lomo Saltado and chimichurri. The last time I had Mr. Pollo, before recently, was around 6-7 years ago and that was only because I moved out of West Covina. I had it a few weeks ago again due to my cousin recently moving nearby, and, my goodness, it is still as delicious as before. My only complaint about the Lomo Saltado is that there wasn't enough. I've tried to recreate the chimichurri and have not been successful at it. I usually do take out and they're super fast getting the order ready, even when it's a big one. They're also super friendly and offered help to take my big order to my car. It's easy to miss it since it's a smaller, hole-in-the-wall restaurant. A small hole in the wall restaurant located within a strip mall, this place may not seem like much at first but the food here is very delicious. Inside is a bit cramped, but has enough tables for a dozen or so people. Cashier was very friendly and was able to interpret my order even though I couldn't pronounce the menu clearly. Price of the food is between $14 - $20. However, servings are definitely big enough for one person. The wait time was about 20 minutes or so (I came on a Sunday afternoon, and it seemed like they were also busy with mobile orders. Additionally, somewhat understaffed). Ordered the Peruvian Pesto Spaghetti w/ chicken; the meat was very big, flavorful and moist, and the spaghetti was also great with the pesto it was swimming in. Wanted to get the Pollo Saltado at misky misky, but they have been closed both times I went there. Heard from a coworker that this place is the same owner, so decided to give it a shot. Called at 1:00 to place an order and they said it would be about an hour. When we got there, they were really busy, but our food was ready. Place looked clean and everyone followed the safety procedures. Haven't had pollo saltado in a long time and it hit the spot. Don't know how authentic it is or how it is compared to other Peruvian places, but all I know is that it was delicious. Mix everything together and every bite is tasty. Ask for the green sauce, but be careful as it has a little kick to it. Decent price for the amount of food you get. I'm able to eat a lot and I almost couldn't finish it. I had an average experience my very first visit but I'm glad my craving for their bomb fried plantains brought me back here because this second time around was amazing and definitely made up for the first! The first time we ordered the famous half chicken with beans and rice and were disappointed with how dry and cold it was. It was as if it was a chicken they cut and put back in a warmer to be served again. This second time around, maybe I came on a better day because the restaurant was packed inside, or I got lucky and got the fresh half of the chicken rather than the one saved in a warmer because this half chicken was hot and juicy and the skin was crispy and flavorful. Both visits were around early dinner on a weekday as well. The food was still delicious even having eaten it 20 min later due to having done take out since seating is limited inside and it was still somehow piping hot! The rice is delicious with garlic flavors, fluffy and flavorful. The beans on the other hand were average and tastes like your regular canned pinto beans. The must get is their fried plantains!! If I had to pick one thing I would get these. Dipped in their delicious chimichurri or green sauce or on their own, these things are addicting. This is not on the menu for some reason but this "not so secret" item comes in 4 or 8 count. Better get the 8 count or you'll be kicking yourself later! We also got the spaghetti tallerin (green spaghetti) with the flank steak and it's the absolute best if you pour more chimichurri all over it. Without it, it is still good but to me it felt like it was missing an herby garlicky dimension of flavor. I expected a garlicky pesto like sauce but it is a more subtle mild green sauce as if made with blended spinach and herbs. Pasta was al dente and steak was tender. Lastly, on our first visit we ordered the famous lomos saltado. It was delicious and the fries weren't too soggy in the flavorful sauce and the beef was tender. However I think due to personal preference this was not my favorite dish out of the bunch but definitely an iconic dish you must try if it's your first time eating Peruvian food. Overall, I highly recommend trying this place out. Would love to go more often if it was closer but for now, the 20+ min drive is worth the occasional splurge! read more
