    Pesto chicken so good

Probably one of the best Peruvian places I've tried in southern California. This is a small family owned restaurant in the corner of a small plaza. When we arrived, we were greeted by our nice lady who started us off with waters. She may have been the owner. She was friendly and helped us with our orders as it was our first time at the restaurant. For a party of 4 we ordered: Ceviche Mixto - 10/10 best Peruvian ceviche I've had. And it was full of a variety of seafood - octopus, fish, shrimp, squid. The sauce was perfect. My only complaint is that I wish I had more. Lomo Saltado with noodles - 10/10 This wasn't my order but I wish it was. It was perfectly seasoned and the meat was tender and juicy Tallarin Verde Con Pollo - 9/10 only because the lomo saltado was so good and I wish that it was my order. The chicken was still good, although just a tad on the dry side. The noodles were very flavorful and very saucy as well saltado de mariscos 10/10 delicious. It was full of seafood and very well flavored. Highly recommend for seafood lovers Aguadito de pollo 10/10 Very heart soup. This could be its own meal if you aren't extremely hungry. The soup is savory and so good on a cold day. If you love hearty soups with lots of flavor, this is a go-to! All of the plates were large and very delicious. Next time I 'll be back to order a soup for myself! Highly recommend this location if you're ever in the mood for Peruvian food or want to try something new. You won't be disappointed!

Sabor a Peru is always a great place to come and get your Peruvian food fix in the area. This place is so welcoming to the patrons. The entrees are always hot when they come out. Try the steak empanadas which are a nice appetizer. Made with nice chunks of steak and piping hot when it comes out. Don't forget the ají sauce. Great food and great service.

First time at "Sabor a Peru", stopped in after the gym. Place was clean, people were super friendly. I ordered the chaufa de pollo and tallarin verde con carne. Both were delicious. They mentioned a lot of people come for the ceviche so will have to try that next time

4 stars is for the whole experience. I give 3 stars for the food, and 1 extra for the great service. The restaurant was very clean and has nice, vibrant framed art. Service was very friendly and quickly while the food was still served piping hot, for the most part. I ordered the lomo saltado, chaufa de pollo, and a beef empanada . The food smelled really good when it was handed over. The lomo saltado had a lot of visible pepper but it wasn't overwhelming. The other place I like to order the dish from has a bit more sauce, flavor, and tender meat. I didn't mind this restaurant's version overall and finished the leftovers. The aji verde has a good kick to it which helped elevate the dish, and is probably one of the things I liked most. Unfortunately I really didn't enjoy the chaufa de pollo. The first bite or two was okay but I realized it was overly salted. I had someone else try it and they agreed. I did not finish this one. The empanada was served cold but the flavor was good and the meat was tender. It has great reviews on here so maybe I'll give it another try.

Had the best meal with my mom at this Peruvian spot and I already can't wait to go back. We ordered the ceviche, tallarín verde, and lomo saltado con chow mein, and everything tasted incredibly fresh (the staff even told us it's all made in-house, which you can absolutely tell). Every dish felt like it was made fresh! We finished with lucuma ice cream and homemade alfajores, which were the perfect ending. Such a warm, family-run restaurant serving truly authentic food. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to.

This place is a small restaurant located in the corner of a small plaza that has some simple decor and posters broadcasting their food. The interior is clean with several tables and a few Christmas decorations up. We ordered a tallarin Verde, bistec a la pobre with sunny side up egg, and chaufa al pollo. The chicken fried rice is delicious with plenty of meat and not overly oily if a bit salty. The green spaghetti was rich with cheese but could use more pesto or whatever green condiment they use. The beef on both beef dishes was tender, but lacked impact in terms of seasoning. The fries and plantains on the bistec was pretty good, but I didnt try the white rice or egg. All in all the food was very delicious, with the favorite being the chicken fried rice, but there is a discrepancy in price due to them using outdated menus at the time. Something worth checking out if you enjoy Peruvian food or are in the area for other matters.

Mom and Pop place in Covina, my guy wanted to try. Nice young man waited on us, gave us a quick "my grandmother's recipes." A rundown. I ordered my favorite Peruvian dish Saltado de pollo, which was a huge portion and very tasty. My guy ordered the Tallarin de pollo which is with spaghetti noodles , delicious as well. Portion s are huge so shareable. The service was ok, the food delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant.

My first time here at Sabor a Peru, let me tell you IT IS DELICIOUS!!!! The service is 10/10, and our waiter is the owner of the restaurant. Overall the ambiance is 10/10 as well!!! Would definitely recommend & will come back

The restaurant is tucked in the corner of a small strip mall with ample parking. We came during lunchtime on a weekday right when they opened so we were the first patrons there. Inside looks a little dated, but it was clean. We were greeted warmly by an employee who offered some good suggestions. We ended up trying 3 different chicken dishes. It took a little while to get our food but understandable as we saw that same employee over the stove, flames flying, cooking our food from scratch. I got the Pollo a lo Pobre and the chicken was moist and flavored nicely, I loved the addition of the egg to the rice and of course plantains to complete this very tasty dish. We all enjoyed our meals and devoured it quickly. It looks like we will be adding this to our lunch rotation!

Great little spot with delicious eats. I got the lomo saltado and tallarines Verde and they were both well made and filling. Their alfajores cookies are amazing! Definitely recommend trying them if you haven't. These peruvian cookies have a firm crust with caramel in the middle. Call ahead or go early because they tend to sell out of the cookies, but even then they have other great options to eat. The staff was so friendly and so attentive. It's always a treat to go back!

You can't see this business from the street. It's tucked in the corner. My Peruvian friend and I ordered the Lomo Saltado and a mixto Marisco platter with shrimp, octopus, etc. which had a few pieces of fried shrimp on top. The Mariscos came with lots of marinade called "Leche de Tigre." According to the owner, this marinade cures colds and flus. These dishes were so fresh and flavorful. Their seasonings were on point. We also ordered a sweet purple corn drink that's made from corn at 13,000 feet in the Andes. It's big enough inside to have a large group and catering is also available. The owner was very kind and we talked about the struggles of being a small business owner and how his business is word of mouth or Yelpers. We were the only ones in there for lunch on a Thursday. Please support this small business.

Amazing food! Started off with an empanada and it was amazing. Then shared the two dishes below among 2 people. Had leftovers to take back as well. Would definitely come here again! The service was also great and they were super efficient. Highly recommend

First time eating Puerivan food, I heard of this place through IG. Thought I give it try, the food was amazing, I will come again to try other dishes. Come and check them out.

However, our waiter immediately discouraged me from ordering the Tacos Gobernadorbecaise they don't sell alacart, which was disappointing. The taquitos plate was heavily smothered with no beanswith no flaver, which overpowered the different protein flavors and made the dish taste somewhat bland. A side of guacamole or crema would have helped balance the flavors and improve the overall presentation. My daughter ordered the enchilada plate, and to our surprise, it didn't come with beans and rice. This was the first time we've ever been served enchiladas without those traditional sides. The price difference to add them was less than $1, so it was difficult to understand why they weren't included. Oh, and one of the TVs showing the soccer game was about 15 minutes behind the others. LOL. Window blinds were off balance and paper material making the place feel cheap. It's a shame because the issues I mentioned seem relatively easy to fix. Addressing them would go a long way toward improving the overall dining experience. I do admit that the other dishes we tried had very good flavor and I may come and try again in a few months... Ambiance needs improvement, it feels like a cenaduria.. eat and leave. But then again I was there at 11am

The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. The atmosphere had a welcoming vibe that reminded me of being in Thailand, which added to the overall experience. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable, making it a great spot to enjoy a meal. As for the food, their fish and chips are hands down the best I've had. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and every bite was worth it. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality, service, and overall experience make it well worth the splurge. Some items were delicious; others were lacking in flavor or had an "unusual" taste. The dining area is a decent size, it was clean, and there is plenty of parking in the shopping center's lot. FOOD: We ordered a varied selection from the menu. Some items, Breaded Shrimp ($7.95), Smoky Seared Ahi Tuna ($20,95), and Ocean House Halibut ($33.95) were very tasty, but the Ahi Tuna Grilled, served rare ($18.95), Clam Chowder ($9.95), and Seafood Bisque ($10.95) were only okay. I mentioned an unusual taste, not bad, but the flavors of the chowder and the bisque were different than I've had at other seafood restaurants. I tried their Thai Iced Tea ($5.25) which was good. Overall, we felt that this dinner experience could have been better, but I would be willing to pay them a second visit and try some different menu items.

This plate also includes refried beans, rice, "garnished salad," and warm tortillas. I left El Camichin (Covina) full and satisfied. (Important Note: Bring cash. There's an increased cost of 3.84% for card.) I arrived at El Camichin (Covina) on Sunday (around 1:40PM). There's street parking; however, there's also many nearby public parking lots. El Camichin (Covina) is located in Downtown Covina near a Taco Bell. El Camichin (Covina) is crowded and popular. The customer chattering echoes loudly; the strong Latin American music flies off the walls; and the bar machine's occasional grinding & clanking noises are blaring. El Camichin (Covina) felt cramped and chaotic. A basket of chips and salsa were quickly placed on my table. Soon, I received a cup of water. These complimentary chips tasted crusty, hard, and a little stale. Thankfully, the salsa tasted fresh, and it carried a lovely addictive heat. The cup of water also tasted fresh and clean. My server (name tag said Lalo) is prompt. Lalo spoke English and Spanish. I observed how Lalo glides from table to table to check-in with guests. "How you doin, brotha'?" he'd exclaim. I ordered the Al Mojo de Ajo / Camarones Shrimp Plate ($24). It arrived in 12 minutes and 22 seconds. Very fast. Concerning the food, there's genuine fresh and flavorful quality hidden amongst its ugly plating and presentation. At first glance, the Al Mojo de Ajo / Camarones Shrimp Plate appeared underwhelming and unappetizing. It looked clunky like something dumped from a cafeteria. However, as I slowly tasted parts of its dish, I found myself pleasantly surprised. Its jumbo shrimps came huge, plump, and dripping with butter. They felt fresh, soft, and juicy. Next, the refried beans came thick, fresh, and clean. Its melted cheese created a welcomed savory creaminess. The rice was warm and dry, but its texture and flavor were enhanced as melted butter drizzled over its grains. I especially enjoyed the corn tortilla. These tortillas felt fluffy and stretchy. Unfortunately, I disliked the "garnished salad." It tasted like warm, old lettuce that was scraped off a few random tacos. The ambiance at El Camichin (Covina) felt chaotic, almost like a festival. It's reminiscent of a noisy sports bar at times. El Camichin (Covina) has many flat screen TVs playing football, and many customers appeared absorbed into the game. Fortunately, El Camichin (Covina) felt relatively clean despite being so busy. The floors looked a little messy, but the tables were shiny and smooth. Thankfully, the interior also felt well-ventilated. I also appreciated the beautiful art murals on the walls. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at El Camichin (Covina). This location felt popular and chaotic, but there's genuine good ingredients and food hidden within. I left full and satisfied. 4.5 out of 5
