We've lived all over and have been so disappointed in both the food scene and specifically pizza here in DE. BUT Mr. P's was great. We decided to finally drive over and try it after an appointment in the area. I'm Gluten Free not by choice and even ordered a second pie to take home! I was really impressed with them immediately asking "Allergy or Preference", it seems like a small detail to others but truly isn't. We stopped in on a day trip to Lewes and we were so happy we tried this place before heading back to Cape May on the ferry. We ordered four personal pizzas different varieties. The crust, sauce and toppings were fresh and tasty. The crust had a very pleasing chew - not too thick not too thin. Service was good and our server was very friendly and quick. We tried out Mr. P's after seeing a video someone did on Lewes and the pizza looked amazing. Honestly, the pizza was very good. It was the service that was lacking. Our server barely came to our table, and we needed drink refills more than once. The thing that surprised me is there were several people standing around behind the bar doing absolutely nothing at various times while we were there. If this place wants to up their game, their wait staff should watch other server's tables and if the assigned server is busy with something at the time, the other employees should pick up their slack like they do in better serviced restaurants. I mean, a glance at our table would've shown somebody (anybody) that our drinks were out. For what they're charging for pizza, the service needs to be spot on, and it's not. As an aside, and it's not a huge deal, the interior is very dark. They could probably lighten the place up a little. But that's not the deal breaker. I don't know if we will be back. read more

I've lived in Lewes now, for 5 years. Read all the good comments about Mr. P's. I could never smell the wood oven. Lotsa 'just ok' pizza places in the area. Recently, I had a contract (close to Mr P) for a month. I had the "2 slice + small soda" lunch 7-8 times the last month. Gotta say, best in the area. Meh. I wanted to love it but found it to be just ok. We tried to call in an order to pick-up but nobody ever answered. So, we decided to drive over. We put in our order and waited. CASH ONLY. I only carry credit so I had to scrounge for cash before we left the house. I would have tried more, but I only had so much money. The service was pretty gruff. Not quite the Soup Nazi style, but it felt similar. It took a pretty long time for our pizza to come up. About 45 minutes. They said 20. I don't think I would have waited if I knew how long it would take. Particularly since we were waiting. We ordered one Vito (tomato Sauce, shredded whole milk mozzarella, pepperoni, fresh garlic - $15 $18 $20 $25) and one Alla Puttanesca with Goat Cheese (tomato Sauce, shredded whole milk mozzarella, artichokes, capers, black olives, fresh garlic, goat cheese $16 $20 $23 $29). First to the size. The crust on our pizzas was almost three inches wide on each slice. We ordered the medium pizzas which were $18 and $20 respectively. They are supposed to be 13" wide pizzas. But with three inches of crust on each side, there was only about 7" of toppings. Each slice had about 3" of crust and 3.5" of toppings. Maybe we just got bum pizzas but for the money I want more toppings. Good pizza should leave you satisfied. We were full from all the dough but hungry from a lack of toppings. Maybe we just got a pizza maker who likes a super thick and wide crust. It was the same for both pizzas. The toppings were low in flavor and sparse. None of us liked the sauce. The crust was too thick. The crust portion under the toppings was undercooked and floppy and soggy. The portion around the edge was burned and overcooked and thick and it tore up our mouths. I did like that there were lots of locals. Of course, this was off season, but it was still nice. read more

Came here for a slice over Thanksgiving weekend and it didn't disappoint! I sat a the counter with two friend and we each got a slice of pepperoni. It was nice and hot when we got our slices even though they were served out of a case. Shocker, considering that just 2 hours later it would be a three hour wait time for one large and one medium pizza... this is the most disgusting pizza I've ever had. There's no flavor, the dough is not even cooked fully, yet it's somehow burnt to the pits of H E DOUBLE hockey sticks, the ingredients literally fell off of the pizza while you went to pull the slice out. It is burnt, greasy, GROSSSSS!! I'll still drive to Frederica Pizza even though I'm further away. It's sad the Grotto's is better than this place too. An unexpected winner. We left the beach and was heading back to our hotel and decided to randomly stop here since we saw the pizza sign. Turned out to be a great decision. They have good deals - buy a certain amount of slices and it comes with a free soda, etc. Pizza was piping hot, full of flavor and just enjoyable after a full morning in the sun and sand. Another great location that I can't believe I haven't gone to before!! . Their pizza is delicious & wood-fired. We ordered the classic margarita pizza, and it was fabulous! The crust is slightly hard on the outside but pillowy-soft on the inside, and slightly sweet. The basil was shredded all over - this is great because we constantly ask at pizza places to add extra basil. If you don't like crust (wood fired is yummy & can be dipped in sauce or whatever!), you may not appreciate this pizza as much. The salads were huge - the Greek was tasty and included capers, and my Mom loved the spinach salad. They make their own salad dressing too! The meatball app (3) was tasty too. For the first time ever in my life I threw away almost an entire pizza. I ate one and a half slices but just couldn't stomach the rest. Very doughy, had a nice char in some spots yet somehow tasted very raw. And super super greasy- and it wasn't simply the usual grease of a pepperoni pizza- it was excessive and made the bottom of the pizza totally wet. The is a real deal pizza place. The wood burning brick oven creates near perfect crusts. Toppings are not too ambitious but hit all the usual favorites. Seating is limited and the wait can sometimes be lengthy. Suppose that's the price you pay for delicious pizza. read more

We are very happy with our experience at Mr. P Pizza & Pasta last Sunday! We were disappointed to find out our usual woodfired pizza place at the beach was having oven trouble and not serving pizza. After researching others in the area, we discovered Mr. P Pizza & Pasta. Service was excellent! Since it was our first time in, the wonderful young lady at the counter took the time to make recommendations and explain the menu to us. We decided on the Margherita and Cheddar and Bacon with white sauce. We sat at the bar to wait and have a drink. A very kind young man offered my boyfriend generous samples when he was having trouble deciding on which beer to try. Ambiance was laid back and most of the patrons appeared to be locals who were there to watch the game. The pizzas were ready in a reasonable amount of time and it was torture having to smell the delicious smells on our drive back to Dover lol As soon as we walked in the door, we both tried a slice and all I can say is WOW! Just the right amount of char on the crust and perfect ratio of toppings and sauce to crust. Mr. P's Pizza blew our former favorite pizza place at the beach out of the water!
