So, I don't know why this place is getting low reviews. The truth is, if you don't get up early enough to get in at whitewater express, then you quickly get in line here. It's almost exactly the same, meaning you pay a similar price, go up to the machine car wash and someone scrubs your car a little to loosen any debris and then you go through a machine with colored foam. I personally think the gentleman who wipes the water droplets off your car after the dryer is a nice touch because for people like me who have never waxed their car in life, my car can look like it cried if water dries naturally AND the only reason I go to whitewater is for the self-serve complimentary vacuum situation they have going on. That said, I didn't have any cash for the vacuum machines Sharky's offers and so my car is a little dusty still, but my plan is to wake up earlier and go to whitewater next time. Sign up online before you go if you want a monthly membership it will save you time. I went with the basic monthly package around 18 a month still included hand dry & free vacuums. I used to got to palms on william. Cannon but I felt like the wash itself was always packed with long waits & it never got all the dirt/pollen off my vehicle. I don't know if APD gets free washes but every time I've gone, I've seen them going through the car wash so if they're testing it on City vehicles, I trust it on my own personal vehicle. I went through the car wash and took these pictures 5 minutes after the wash when I got home. As you can see it hardly took the dirt and dust off my car. My car was in need of a wash as I think the last one was right before Austin's shelter in place. My car is lucky as it lives in a garage at my house and at work. The car was dirty due to the pollen and rain that Austin has endeared in the last few months thanks to spring. The car wash had a few options for the automatic and I went middle of the road. Sharky's takes cash or card. Someone is outside the automatic wash to spray your car as you head into the wash. After you are done there is someone on the other side who will wipe down your car. Overall my car looked great minus the back. However I am not sure if it was automatic's wash fault or just driving on the roads as I didn't look at it right away. read more

I used to like bringing my car here to clean until my recent experience. I came BEFORE closing however it was close and they were starting to pick up trash, but I reiterate, it was BEFORE their closing time. After hand washing my car I pulled up to the vacuums and just as I was about to start vacuuming, an employee shut off the vacuum I was parked at without even acknowledging me. If he had been like "hey sorry we're shutting off the vacuums now" I would have said okay no problem, but to stand a foot away from me while I'm obviously about to vacuum my car and shut it off without a word was a top tier d**khead move. read more

Decided to join a monthly car wash membership. This allows unlimited visits for the drive through. Staff are great and I'll continue the membership. Came here for the first time last week, and went through the automatic car wash. For $9, I got a manual pre-rinse/scrub from the car wash employees, and a trip through the automatic car wash complete with foam bath, triple shine polish, and a spot-free rinse. My car looked fantastic after the wash, and I loved the convenience of not having to leave my car. Much higher quality than other automatic washes in the area. Only downside was the line. I came at around 1:00pm on a Wednesday, and they were slammed. I waited at least 15 minutes for my wash. They also sell monthly memberships, have full detail services, and a dog wash! read more

I have never been anywhere other than Palms Car Wash and I completely regret ever going anywhere else other than Palms. I took my car to Sharky's car wash to only look at the back of my car with scratches all over my trunk and back bumper as if it was scrubbed with a brillo pad. Guys whatever bristle brush is being used to "scrub" off the dirt on the back of vehicles is actually taking more off than just that. My beautiful paint on my car was totally trashed by the cheap products used to "take off" the dirt. Never ever will I return here. Do better guys. read more

I feel like I should address this issue right off the bat: I was just there yesterday and the VACUUMS ARE FREE; at least, the ones on the right when you pull in off Manchaca. (Should you want fragrance however, you will need to insert coins.) Both vacuums we used had some cracks in the end nozzle (i.e. they are a little beat up) but did not seem to affect suction power. I have only used the manual stations and love the ease of use (you can switch between modes at will). Five minutes and a few bucks is all you need. I appreciate the design of the dispenser and separate soft brush (looks like a large industrial broom); it is easy to maneuver around any type of vehicle. We just do soap/rinse but there are all sorts of options including wax and some fancy dryer. There are also clips to hang your floor mats if you really want to get into it. My only complain is that the credit card doohickey seems a bit shaky on some; if you find one not working, just go to the next. Sharing a hack I saw the other day: Since you are charged for time, a guy brought a cooler and filled it up with the soapy water. Then he turned off the machine and took his sweet time washing his car with the broom/brush attachment (standard in the bays) and a big sponge he also brought. Genius. I have not used it, but they have a dog washing station. Awesome. (Note, you could also wash your dog - or anything really - in the bays). read more

Great little car wash! Sharky's hand washes your car before it heads down the car wash. You can sit and relax and let the car wash do it's thang. When you're done, someone hand dries your car. Dog Wash: I don't know how reviewers found this place clean it's nearly impossible for it to be unless you are the first person there in the morning and maybe not even then. I got there and there was wet white hair in the tub - tons of it and dark hair and mud up to knee level on the walls around the one working tub. I looked around for a trash can and there was not one inside... (And it's not a good idea to leave a dog on a choke tied to a tub. Could hang themselves before anyone could get back inside to use the trash can outside.). I did my best to clean it up holding my dogs leash - no ties or hooks for leashed dogs - and with the muddy floors I didn't want him laying down and getting worse! It cost me $8.00 just to disinfect and clean the tub and ramp before putting my dog in the tub. The water pressure was poor and the water was to hot for a dog's alkaline skin. The dryer was anemic on the 'super' setting and I had to disinfect the end of it since the previous user left it on the floor in the mud. As I was leaving the attendant came in to clean armed with one glove and a pissy attitude. No mop, no bucket, just a glove. He sprayed disinfectant on the walls and tub using the dog wash sprayer. With the holed floor covers there is no way that place will be clean in the morning. After it was a said and done I spent $40.00 and left with a wet did I question how clean he is. . . . When I compare that to $16 at other self service dog wash places this was not a good value or experience. read more

First, I want to say that I absolutely love the idea behind Mr. Sharky's dog wash. However, there are a few things they could improve on that would make me a loyal customer so long as I'm living in the greater Austin area. 1) a pause setting for those that are needing to use specialty shampoos. While Mr. Sharky's has a nice variety of pleasant smelling shampoos, even a "veterinary formula" (an ingredient list would be fantastic!), I opted to use my own for my girl's sensitive skin. But that led to a lot of wasted time while I used her shampoo since I couldn't pause the timer. 2) adjustable water pressure and temperature. One tub was pushing cold, the other tub was pushing hot and neither had quite enough pressure. More specific about out experience: I have two 50+ pound dogs that I made 2 trips to get bathed, one each visit, because well, I'm not crazy. The first time I used the tub furthest from the door and that one worked really well minus the colder water temperature. On my second dog/visit, we used the tub closest to the door and had a few issues. The water pressure was inconsistent and the temperature was pushing being too hot. The oatmeal shampoo, which I used on my first dog/visit/furthest tub, was either was not connected properly on this tub or they were out of it and put the veterinary formula in it's place. Lastly, the dryers did not blow air like they did on the other tub. When I selected both dryer settings, you could hear the dryer working from behind the brick wall but nothing was coming out of the hose. I bathe my dogs twice a month and would be willing to cone back to give Mr. Sharky's another shot. But if I have similar issues, it might be worth it to fish the dog hair out of my bath tub at home. read more

This is a fantastic car wash. For $13 in the "automatic" wash you get a pre wash by hand. There is a track that takes your car through, your only job is to sit back and let the auto wash take you along. When you come out the other side ab employee is waiting with shammies to dry your car off, and you are on your merry way. This is the best deal I have found for a wash with the added personal service. The employees are nice and helpful as well. I highly recommend this wash to anyone as lazy as I am who wants a great wash without doing a thing! read more

I've been here multiple times as I play soccer at the indoor soccer field next door. The prices are a bit steep, but they do have a rewards card that you can use to get free washes. Despite conflicting reviews, the vacuums ARE free, but just the vacuums. If you want to use the fragrance or cleaning machines, you do have to pay for those. read more

I have to say with the recent change to free vacuums, this place is really great. I usually wash the car myself there since I can do it easily for under $3.50. The fact that they take credit cards and it only charges you by time used is great. Some places that take credit cards will charge a minimum like $3.50 and then add-on times are $1 extra. There is a minimum, but it's not high. I believe it's around $1.75. Did I mention free vacuums? :-) read more

After reading the reviews, I decided to get a wash today, 08/28/16. First, the vacuums are NOT free; cost is $1. Next you can select the price of the wash from $7 to $13. I selected the $11 and it was OK, nothing special. The attendant will power wash your vehicle and then brush it off. I noticed him putting the brush down on the ground before the next wash. This allows it to collect dirt and debris, so then he puts it right back on your vehicle. Note to Manager: Train your people right and teach them how to wash and dry vehicles! I think I will keep going to Palms Car Wash on Brodie. They are better and have free vacs. read more

I'm on a monthly wash package and I feel like it's a good value. Downside, the dryer. It barely runs and leaves most of the drying to attendants. A spot free rinse is useless once you start using a drying towel specially when it's dirty leaving the exterior a mess. More air time or clean towels after every car. read more
