This place is wonderful! From the moment we walked in, the employees were helpful and kind. I ordered the chipotle chicken shawarma, and the food was beautifully plated (I wish I took pictures!) and absolutely delicious; the portions were great, too! I ended up needing a to-go box for half of my food. This place is really good and stands out from the rest of the food options in the area. The first time we ordered from here, we ordered via GrubHub near closing. We ordered a beef and a chicken wrap. We got a call shortly after placing our order letting us know that they were out of beef but would replace it by giving us extra chicken for both of our chicken wraps. The food was delivered promptly and the food was HOT, like piping hot. Superb service and great customer service! We've only ever tried their chicken and beef wraps but I highly recommend their chicken over their beef. Beef is a little tough and not as juicy as the chicken. The chicken wraps also come with garlic sauce I prefer over the tzatziki sauce with the beef. Food is very filling and portions are generous. The wraps come with fries (sometimes soggy when food is delivered) and pickled veggies (cauliflower, carrots, jalapenos). We visited several times after the initial visit and while the food is always good, we've had a couple negative customer service experiences which is why I deducted one star, otherwise, food is definitely 5 stars. Another time we ordered, we ordered their passion fruit drink. I assumed they were out so they replaced it with two cokes. Price-wise, it probably evened out but not really being a soda-drinker, I wish they called us like our first delivery experience with them to ask us if we wanted to sub it out with anything else. Another time, I picked up the food in person and service was very mediocre - employee who took my order was very hostile and short. Regardless, the food here is amazing and I highly recommend. Mr. Shawarma is a food truck currently stationed curbside at an unassuming VP Racing Fuels gas station. This is important to note because I once thought the food truck had driven off early because it wasn't at the old spot on the other side on the premises. The first thing I notice is the irresistible aroma of spiced top sirloin, lamb, and chicken slow-roasted on a vertical rotisserie. Instantly, I crave shawarma. How do they taste? * Beef shawarma (3.25/5) - This should be called beef and lamb shawarma because...it has lamb. It also has onion, sumac, parsley, tomatoes, and tahini sauce, all of which complement each other. So what's the problem? On a chewiness scale from carne asada to medium rare steak, the protein is in the middle. The smoky, meaty flavor is there, but the idea of physical labor doesn't appeal to me. If you don't mind carne asada chewy, you'll love this. * Chicken shawarma (3.75/5) - It won't win any culinary awards, but it's nonetheless Delicious with a capital "D." And while the menu lists only two accompanying ingredients, garlic sauce and what they call "cucumber pickles," I much prefer this over the more complex, but chewy, beef shawarma. What I like most about this shawarma is the simple but satisfying contrast between the moist, savory chicken and the crisp, tangy pickles. Contrary to the menu, these aren't ordinary pickles though--I'm fairly certain they're Mediterranean pickles, which are tiny, crunchier, less tangy, and have garlic overtones. Also contrary to the menu, I suspect there's more than two accompanying ingredients. In other Yelpers' photos, it appears there are "secret" ingredients. It's hard to believe that a wrap can taste this good with just chicken and pickles. But that's not to say there isn't room for improvement. To elevate this shawarma, perhaps tabbouleh would introduce some welcome acidity and herbaceous bite. It'd be a low-cost experiment since tabbouleh is already offered as a side. Speaking of tabbouleh... * Tabbouleh (4/5) - I'm not sure how to rate this. At first, the complex combination of herby, sweet, garlicky, yeasty, and citrusy flavors is delicious, but after a while, it's tiresome and heavy with its dense consistency. I'm unsure whether tabbouleh is meant to be consumed in smaller portions, so I'm giving this the benefit of the doubt. The service here can be direct. Some people may misconstrue this as rudeness. Understand that the staff can be overwhelmed at peak hours. Having worked in incredibly busy restaurants, I know the feeling and can see it in the body language. Every second matters; there's no time to look at you; you're too focused to smile; and communication will be direct. Please be mindful and let these guys work. Try to minimize interruptions, and if you must, consider what other questions and interruptions you may have and consolidate them all so there's only one, not multiple, interruption, ideally made at a convenient time, e.g. the moment between shifting tasks. This may sound like a lot to ask for, but you're already doing this: At work, you wait for a convenient time to interrupt your boss with a "quick" question. This consideration applies not just to Mr. Shawarma and work, but also to any busy establishment. Alternatively, stand patiently within the staff's peripheral vision (trust me: they're aware of your presence) and when it's convenient for the staff to tend to you, they'll speak up. If it's urgent, interrupt mindfully; if it can wait, wait patiently. When I said that the staff can be overwhelmed at peak hours, I mean it literally. I have a side gig as a courier, and there have been a variety of errors in the orders I've picked up. Once, an order never got started until I arrived, and it turned out they were so engrossed in their current orders that they either forgot about or didn't notice the chiming alert of the delivery order. Wait times can also be around 15 minutes due to demand and shawarmas being made to order. Maybe the food truck is too small to fit another staff member. Mr. Shawarma has its mostly minor issues. But when I'm craving comfort food, their chicken shawarma is at the top of my list. This place is a great late night bite to grab. Food trucks can be overpriced, overrated and overall just not worth it. I gotta say this is definitely not one of them. My cousins and I are obsessed with this place because growing up middle eastern has taught us a thing or two about shawarma. My preference is beef over chicken, but they were out of the beef by the time we got there. I try to stay away from ordering chicken because some people will serve you an over cooked dry mess. However, the chicken shawarma here is outstanding. Still nice and juicy, cooked perfectly and went well with everything in the wrap. Chicken shawarma is always supposed to be seasoned with cumin and they had a perfect amount on the chicken. The garlic sauce is delicious and just added even more flavor to the wrap. The fries that came along were crispy seasoned perfection. Pickled cucumbers had that perfect crunchy texture and all the pickling spices I remembered as a kid. The guy taking our order was awesome. Super friendly and assured us that the chicken was just as good as the beef. He was definitely right. Some very authentic shawarma coming out of this food truck. If you are a fan of Middle Eastern food, then you'd know that well made and served shawarma (beef, chicken or lamb) is VERY difficult to come by. From my personal experience, the meat is often dry, shredded until it loses all of its flavor and just haphazardly put into some form of pita wrap with ginormous crunchy pickled vegetables. Not at Mr. Shawarma. This place has it all figured out! They first carefully shave their meat (chicken or beef/lamb) from the vertical rotisserie - you know you're getting freshly cooked meat here. Then they lay it in what is close to a foot long of sandwich pita wrap, pour some magic secret sauce, sprinkle onions and cut up veggies and fold it like a burrito. They then cook it on a flaptop to crisp up the wrap. The end result is shawarma heaven - the meat is tender, well seasoned and not dry. The veggies are cut up small enough that you can taste it but it doesn't take over the flavor and texture of the meat. The crunchy wrap lends itself a nice crisp texture while the creaminess of the sauce inside of it balances it all out very nicely. Yes - you will have to wait 10-15 minutes but once you appreciate the attention and effort that goes into making 1 wrap, you'd understand it. You can get the wrap a la carte for $7 (beef/lamb) or $6 (chicken) but I'd recommend anteing up $2 more for a side of crispy fries and super delicious garlic sauce. If anything, forego the fries and just ask for a side of garlic sauce for you to dip the wrap into. I also ordered a side of baba ghanouj for $3. Hands down, the best baba ghanouj I've ever had in my life. If I had one negative feedback, it is because the baba ghanouj was slightly too salty for me - then again, this is subjective to each individual. These people know what they're doing and they're doing it great. Yes, it's a food truck instead of a sit down restaurant and it's located at an obscure place but if that's your criteria for great food, then I'm sorry to say that Mr. Shawarma is not for you - more like you don't deserve Mr. Shawarma. Life hack !!! - if you can't decide between chicken or beef/lamb, ask them to do half and half wrap. Oh.. and if Mr. Shawarma is reading this, I'm letting you know that I fell in love with the vegan girl who served my food That's all. Stop reading. Go there now! read more

I was passing next to Mr. Shawarma and smelled the food that brought back memories from home. They're all super delicious and good. My favorite is the chicken shawarma because I grew up eating it back home. The sauces they put with their food is so yummy.
