I've never had a negative experience here. The food servings are huge and for a great price. A friend introduced me to this place over a year ago and now I find myself going at least once a week for lunch. My favorite thing is the salsa they make; it's top notch. They also offer complimentary chips for appetizers. (Not a lot of places do that anymore). If youre on a budget then go in on Tuesday's for the packed tacos for only 1.25 each. Horrible experience two days in a row. Day one I bought a pork torta and got big square chunks of pure fat with small scraps of greasy carnitas. I would not suggest catering here. I catered for the holidays and got 20 tacos that looked like they were 2 for $0.99. They were greasy with nothing inside but a tablespoon or so of meat. No cheese, tomato or lettuce. You had to put those on yourself (and they forgot mine from my $200 catering order). They were so stuck together you couldn't get the taco's open to add anything outside of the very top of the shell. They were not good. In fact, they were awful. They looked nothing like the catering menu. Nobody ate them and they were the a big part of my meal. I was told I'd get a credit by the owner but instead have been blown off for several weeks by him. Non authentic Mexican food. I came here with my family on a Thursday night around 7pm. There was no line and the service was pretty good. Very polite employees. I ordered the taquito plate and my husband ordered an el pastor street taco and an asada hard shell taco. The meat in my taquitos were very mushy and tasted uncooked. The beans and rice were not fresh and none of the salsas had any spice to them. My husband said the el pastor meat didn't taste good and the hard shell taco was very hard to bite into. The food here is very good and decently priced (the tacos are HUGE and only $2!) the only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because their customer service. The women who work there were not nice, and that's putting it very politely. My experience was uncomfortable to say the least, particularly because the servers bumped in to me (more than once) while I was standing in line to order and did not say excuse me or anything. I really enjoyed the first couple times getting takeout from this place. I was able to order one of their small catering packages for $24.95 that came with 2 pounds of meat, rice, beans, salsa, chips, and 15 tortillas. Service is very friendly. I LOVE the extra spicy salsa. My only complaint at the time was that had I not ordered the family pack, I would have had to pay for tortilla chips to go. I have never understood that concept since those dining in could eat unlimited amounts of chips and the bags would have been a limited size. A small bag packed by the cashier would be more than sufficient. The meat was decent in flavor but for the value, I had little else to complain about. Nonetheless the 99¢ fish taco Wednesdays brought me back. I ordered takeout for my parents and they loved the tacos, especially with the pickled jalapenos and the cactus salad offered at the salsa bar. I did not care much for the horchata as it was way to sweet and thick for my taste. They offer a fruit salad which received many good reviews for value and freshness; however, I may not be returning to try any. The last time my coworker and I went to get fish tacos for takeout, we waited an extremely long time in the cramped entry way. We watched as the customers dining in received their huge platters filled with huge fish tacos. Mind you these customers were sitting out on the patio sipping beer and eating chips and salsa while enjoying the mist from the swamp cooler. When we finally returned to the office, we each found fish tacos with one small nugget of fish in each pair of tortillas. We felt as if the cook had run short on fish and were just throwing them in just to complete the order. We would have been ok with other tacos or even our money back. When I recommend a place to someone and the end result falls very short of the recommendation, I find it very hard to return. The owner/manager figured we were from a business office and informed us of their delivery service for a charge and handed us a stack of menus. I used to come here all the time, I went over the weekend with my husband and ordered a Chile rellano burrito and a michelada, he got tacos and a michelada. My burrito was literally just a Chile rellano. I used to get these all the time and it would have beans, rice and cheese and it was nice and thick. This burrito was thin and just sad looking. The michelada mix tasted like those 99cent store cup ones. We figured maybe it was an off day. (At this point I didn't know the price of anything because my husband paid for it). TODAY 10/15/2020 I preorder for me, my mom, and my brother. We got 6 tacos de carne asado con guacamole (those were fine), 2 tortas con carne asada (1 without jalapeños but with everything else), if you look at their menu you see what's included in the torta, both tortas had jalapeño, no beans, no tomatoes, and no lettuce. It was just ham and the panela. Both torta combos were cold (fries/torta). I also ordered 1 michelada, she charged me for 2 (mind you a tall can is $9.50 + the price of the michelada mix) I thought the whole drink was around $9.50 (either way I would have no problem paying it if it was good). So we call and talk to Alma, I start to explain about the order and she cuts me off and says no the guy said there's no jalapeños so there's none in there, I said ok and continued to try to explain and again she cut me off and got loud with me, and talked over me about the guy said my order was correct. I said ok, that's not what I ordered so I'm not sure what to tell you other than the order I placed. Honestly I'm so disappointed, we spent $61 and change and she's like well I can replace the tortas. My nachos looked like they had been sitting there for a while. The cheese wasn't even melted. Also I witnessed a waitress bring out a plate of food and dropped the burrito on the floor and a taquito. She placed them on a table then walked in the door, walked out and took the platter and burrito to the table. I don't really understand the obsession with this place. There's flies everywhere, the place is clearly dirty, and the customer service could be better. I guess they have a usual crowd come in and they get the top notch service. Well anyways, the hours of operation listed on here and online are apparently wrong. Twenty minutes to closing (8 apparently) and they refuse to take an order. Ok, you close at 8, not 7:40. Well the food is not that impressive. The chicken is way salty and the meats are dry. I live nearby and had read many of the reviews of this place (which is easy to miss after dark and seems to be confused with the "other" Mr. Taco across from the courthouse downtown) - but I must say that the food here is very good and the service is always courteous, even on Taco Tuesdays. I've had the fish tacos (which are great and on sale on Wednesdays) and the chile relleno/chicken enchilada combination w/beans and rice. The relleno has some "bite" to it and the cheese and sauce are terrific. The chicken enchilada has a unique sauce that's unique and has a "smokey" flavor to it. And the rice and beans are terrific as well. The salsa bar and free chips (for patrons eating in) are fresh, while the salsas range from "gringo" mild but tasty to "set your mouth on fire (but still tasty)." They also serve beer by the pitcher. All of this for an incredibly reasonable price that you can't match anywhere else for what you get. Slightly hard to find in the auto repair district, near a Bakers and caddy-corner from the 76 gas station - but well worth stopping by. And despite the location, don't worry, the service is friendly and they have great take-out. Just take a look at the pictures of the food at this place - all taken by patrons. Even the pictures are delicious - and this is the real, actual food you get - not like the pictures in the fast food ads. read more

I've gone to 4 different ones and although I have a closer one to my house I drove all the way here with my dad...only to find out they wouldn't serve us for dine in. They had 25 minutes before closing. Past times that was not an issue...we have gotten there 15 to close and we have ordered for dine in. P.S. There was another customer complaining to cashier when we first arrived, of how she had been waiting more than 20 minutes for her food. It's alright. Taco Tuesday special/tacos are the best deal and beat tasting item on menu. Beans are odd tasting, and reddish in color. Must be something they add but I wish they didn't. Rice is alright, definitely better than the beans. The chipotle sour cream sauce or whatever that is, yuck. Don't get it on your food, it ruins everything. The joint is small and doesn't have enough room to wait in line and allow people to move through. The chips/salsa are self serve but stuck in odd spot to the side of register without enough room to serve yourself. Half the time there are no chips in it or just crumbs. You have to ask and then the girls make you feel like you are bothering them. The baskets have no paper or anything, so don't grab the broken chips, they just fall thru. The salsas are average at best. None of them had any real heat so if you like it hot you will probably be disappointed. No a/c, all outside seating so make sure to go on a cool day. Place is always busy so be prepared to wait or find yourself w/o a seat. I suggest calling in your order and just picking up. read more
