A hidden secret of Riverside. This place reminds me of the restaurants of my childhood in the East Los Angeles area. The place isn't made for looks but once you eat the food you are hooked. You might miss it from Main street, its tucked in between some industrial lots but don't judge a book by its cover, this place is a Riverside gem! The owner Fernando is so friendly and helpful. I went in one night not even realizing it was taco Tuesdays but was thrilled when the girl at the counter recommended the 99 cent carne asada tacos. I'm from Southern Arizona so i'm had my fair share of carne but these were the best carne asada tacos i've ever had! I originally went for the micheladas that i had heard such good things about and it was phenomenal! Perfect balance of flavor and spice. I will be back for the fresh fruit which looks amazing. This is hands down my favorite mexican food place in Riverside. I work down the street, and my company always orders Mr. Taco for parties. I also had them cater my housewarming party. Mr. Taco is a hit and miss. Sometimes it's good sometimes it's bad. Tonight bad. I can't believe I waited 40 minutes for 2 fruit plates. I was so upset. I saw another person order 1 fruit plate. They got there's within 5 minutes! When I told them my problem I got my fruit. Then they offered me a refund. They should have refunded me my money and gave me the fruit. Mr. Taco needs to have better training for there employees. But I'm sure they don't really care about their customers. At least I know this for sure now. read more

Parking sucks. Barely any room inside when you are trying to get your beverage or chips/salsa at counter. Eating outside in patio means sitting on cold cement benches. Dining inside you are almost touching elbows with other patrons while eating. Line for take out is ridiculous when customers are eating and you are in line right next to them. I've coming to this location for many years. They have really good authentic Mexican food. Its small building and all but don't let that fool you,stop on in the and you won't be disappointed. They also serve fresh cut fruit bowls with creme on top that's really good and always fresh. You can view the cut fruit right behind the glass at the counter and see what you are getting. Service is always prompt and very friendly. This hands down is my favorite Mexican place in Riverside. read more

So I been living downtown for about 7 months and in need of a good Mexican place and couldn't find one in Riverside. So my dad referred me to this place. It is seriously a hole in th wall type of place but th food was amazing and authentic. My husband got th carne asada burrito and I had to put them to th test so I got th combo plate of carne asada quesadilla with rice and beans. The way I judge a Mexican place is by the taste of rice and beans. Omg th food was amazing, you can taste that it's truly authentic and th prices aren't bad. I found my new Mexican food spot. The only thing I didn't care to much at this place was th salsa, it was more spicy than tasty but it compliments your food well just not good with chips. Ordered the veggie burrito and a bag of chips. Really enjoyed both. Chips were nice and warm and thick. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time with pitchers of beer and lots of laughter. Definitely going to return with some friends and stay a while! read more

I usually forget this place exists. It's easy to do. It's on the very old side of main street (north of the Convention Center, not the downtown one), and in the middle of light industrial businesses. The clientele are very blue-collar, the location is a bit scary at night, and the whole place is old and small, so if you're a gastro snob, this is not the place for you. However, if you just want some damn good food, this is your spot! Inexpensive, flavorful, large portions... mmmmm!!!! God help me, the carne asada!!! Tender, juicy, flavorful, and served with a grilled jalapeno. Oh. My. God. Shrimp dishes are excellent, too - not rubbery and dried out. Salsas are good, but I do have my favorite. The only thing food-wise I would ask is for way less lettuce. The portions are huge enough already, and - let's be realistic - I didn't come here for a "salad." Just leave it off. BEST MICHELADAS I'VE EVEE TRIED! The food is okay. I've tried tacos, burritos, shrimp, cocktails, tostadas, and it's all OKAY. The best out of these items is the tacos, those are GOOD. I like the free chips and salsa. The place has very limited parking and seating area. But I like the tvs outside and that they have music playing. Kinda always have to clean your own table cuz they're always busy but that's understandable. Honestly more than anything I come for the micheladas lol read more

So Mr. Taco is supposed to be this amazing place but the best thing I tried was something that isn't even on the menu. I got battered shrimp tacos, those were perfect although they brought one of my tacos out grilled and had to correct it. The chipotle sauce was on point and if I came back that's what I'd get but trust me I'm not coming back. I get a michelada everywhere I go and these were like a 6 out of 10 (not amazing) and were tooooo over priced. Really $15 for a michelada like wtf were not at a baseball game. The place is dirty! I had to scarf my food down just so the flys wouldn't get to it first. My gf got nacho fries and they flavor was over powered by lard and grease. I tried eating them with her because it's really for two people but I couldn't. So would I come again? No definitely not because we went out of our way to try this place and it wasn't worth it, way too over priced and dirty. read more

Very huge portions...cant go wrong with an all meat burrito. This place is very small sometimes crowded but they are very fast and efficient. You either need to come here because you are starving or because your in need of a michelada. These michis are the BEST in town. The mix is a create fast and spice. They even sell the mix to go. The restaurant also has a complimentary chip bar with different salsas warm tortilla chips and chiharrones. The menu for food is delicious and large helpings you can't go wrong . My husband orders fish tacos and loves them . They are very popular here. This last visit I got pastor tacos . Everything was awesome. It's just a bit pricey and is the same check as a large restaurant but you get what you pay for. read more
