Small shop with yummy Mexican food. They offer tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and tortas. I had two el pastor tacos filled with tender pork and little bits of cooked pineapple. Very good. My husband said their chicken enchiladas were average. Very busy on a Tuesday afternoon. Family run with great service. This is a decent taqueria with a huge menu, so this review is just for the meats that I sampled on their street tacos - always a key indicator for me. The tacos are more costly than average, but they do include a lot of meat. The pastor has a good base of seasoning and the meat quality is good, but salt dominates the palate. The asada is good with proper marination and very few pieces of gristle, but it was overcooked and a bit too chewy. One of my pet peeves applies here: I want just a handful of chips but you have to buy a big bag for $3.00, and on top of that they are stingy with their two bland and watery salsas, as usual one green and one red. If Yelp allowed decimals, this would be a 3.4 for me. read more

The food is ok but they are very stingy when it comes to salsa/hot sauce. I buy a their food and ask for a couple extra hot sauce and the lady at the front said she can only give me one more. It is just not one time but on several occasions the lady would refuse to give extra hot sauce and give you a mean look like I wanted free food or something. This place has been a staple for 15 year maybe more. The food has always been good and consistent. Staff have also been friendly. I find it annoying how they no longer provide the salsa bar for dine-in customers. Everyone, including take out is limited to two salsa per order. And it's $0.25 for each extra. I have been to other taco shops that have returned to pre Covid time. Mr Tacos is just cheap for not offering salsa bar for dine in, and expect customers to be pay for extra for more salsa. They also limit you on drink refill to just one. Not to mention that everything on the menu has gone up in price. read more

After eating a burrito from this place 2 days ago, I developed the worst abdominal pain I've ever experienced in my life, associated with nausea and chills. I don't know about you, but when I order guacamole, I expect avocado. That's not the case at Mr. Taco. We ordered two senior combos with two taquitos each. It came with about 1/4 cup each of beans and rice. Lots of lettuce and some cheese. We paid an additional $1.85 for guacamole. What we got was some weird runny dark green sauce with a brownish/red liquid squirted on top. No resemblance to guacamole. Didn't look like it, didn't feel like it, and certainly didn't taste like guacamole. The taquitos were crispy and tasty and a nice size. The rice and beans had good flavor as well. I've been here, oh, about 500 times. I'm not sure why I haven't updated my review. I'm probably too busy eating the food here. I LOVE their Al Pastor Burrito. I've never seen Al in person but I adore the burrito named after him. It's gigantic and absolutely stuffed with flavorful meat. It's outstanding. Their shrimp burrito is terrific, too. I'm also a huge fan of their salsas/hot sauces. Their salsa, in particular, which comes in a much bigger cup than the hot sauces (no, they are not the same thing), looks and tastes homemade although I have no idea if it is or not. Their menu is massive. They haven't downsized it at all. You want something? It's probably on their menu somewhere. Kids' meals are a great deal, too. You get a ton of food, with sides, and a small drink. They are almost always busy but they churn out the food like a machine. Say hola to Sr. Pastor the next time you're in there. The sopes were buried under LOADS OF SAUCE /toppings literally making a soup in my to go tray. ample parking..handicap spots in front..well known for their great food...Mrs Taco delivered a very good shredded beef tostada with plenty of meat and all the toppings..salsa included..Burritos are generous in size...plus each weekday has a different food item featured. I hadn't eaten here in a while, but it's as good as I remembered ! It was around 1pm and busy, but service at the walk-up counter was quick and friendly. Hello Everyone.... PLEASE READ OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!! I want to first start off by saying this place is extremely good. I have been coming here for over 5+ years and I lived off of their food while in college. However recently the prices of the food have gotten outrageous!!!!! For a California Burrito the price used to be $9.75 and you could have spicy carrots included now it is $15.75 not including carrots. For carrots it's now an additional Charge...I understand that inflation has gone up and prices have been adjusted to that but that is actually robbery. I love this place but I will not be paying almost $16 for a burrito..... you might as well advertise STADIUM PRICES HERE on the window. I felt like I was at the Padres game ordering an overpriced hot dog. I'm not sure what this place is thinking but they have now lost a Loyal customer because they are being GREEDY!!!! read more

I was super upset like how you look so damn good but the taste just isn't there. You're starving Sara, what do you mean? It should be amazing right....dig right in. EHHHH, pump the brakes. After the 2nd one, I was honestly just sorta eating the toppings. SHOCKER. Never in my life have I been one to act so unappreciative. Moral of story: I don't know if the formula of the potato mix or it needed salt or lack of flavor.....they just were "BLEH" it was so bizarre. So I was at the hotel down the street right, and I was really searching for some Mexican food nearby. Turns out there's this local legendary family from the mid 80s that has kept this place fed. Well, I 'm not much of a believer in legends but I just felt it you know or my tomqch felt some kind of way? Visited this place a few days ago and ordered a Taco. I was there waiting almost 20 min. I asked the waitress where my taco was and she was oblivious. This place wasn't that busy. The server went back to the counter and got a hard shell taco and came back. I sent her back and told her I specifically ordered a soft taco. I'm very conflicted about this Taco Shop. I think they do many dishes very well for example their crunchy beef tacos are really good and fresh and their quesadillas are never overcooked and the cheese melted really well. Salsas are great too and their refried beans are very authentic, but unfortunately, in my opinion, the cornerstone of any great Taco Shop is the classic Carne Asada burrito and unfortunately, there's is very bad. The meat is way overcooked and mushy and basically taste like ground beef with no flavor just salt and there's no freshness to the pico de gallo salsa. You should get a nice aroma of cilantro and onion and tomato but you get none of that and they put very little guacamole in the burrito, such a disappointment considering this burrito cost approximately $14. I will return for other e items on the menu but will never order Asada burrito ever again. I threw half of it in the trash. read more

Came by last week. You order at the counter, then sit at a table inside or outside with the number they give you. There's a salsa and carrot pickles station towards the back. My hubby got fish tacos and I got the pork burrito. My husband didn't like his tacos as much as he's loved them at other restaurants. My burrito was delicious. It was huge! Mr. taco is a usual spot where we go for our Friday lunches. I have had the chicken salad, which is my favorite, bean and cheese burrito, which is super yummy. And I am very picky about bean and cheese burritos. The chino Riano was probably my least favorite. The Chile Riano was too small.the taco salad is good, Carne, Asada tacos, Carne Asada fries. I've always been super happy after dining at this location and their menu offers something for everyone. This particular dining experience I wanted to try the chicken soup. Ridiculously good and enough for two people. Their was depth of flavor and topped with avocado...which was a perfect with everything going on inside that bowl. This visit was based on a recommendation for their pozole. My boyfriend was down to try out a new pozole spot. I on the other hand was excited to see potato tacos and veggie tacos in their menu. Also, soy chorizo?? Score! My boyfriend really enjoyed their pozole. It was best that they give the toppings, including Mexican oregano, and two tostadas. I ordered two potato tacos and one veggie taco. The veggie taco is a soft taco with rice, beans, and lettuce, cheese, and tomato. I enjoyed the taco with the jalepeno green salsa. In the potato taco, the potato is seasoned, but the one thing that was missing was crema. It would've have put it to the next level! With that, I give it a 3 because my tacos were good but sour cream would make such a difference! And with a score of 3, it means I'll be coming back to try more and so my boyfriend can have their pozole again. I also liked the ambiance of this taco shop. With outdoor seating and plenty of indoor seating, this is a cool spot to get your quick and yummy Mexican food to eat here. read more
