As someone who has gone to Flame Broiler and Waba Grill for years I will say I'd pick Mr. Teriyaki over both. You can get the same things and more from Mr. Teriyaki at a fraction of the price. They also play music and have all the doors open so you get a nice breeze when it's hot. I have driven past this place for years and never stopped in until today. Tried Mr Teriyaki after driving by for years. We chose the Deluxe Size Teriyaki Chicken & Beef & an order of Crunch Rolls. Both were good overall. The Deluxe comes with a lot of rice under the meat so the protein to carb ratio is a tad out of balance. The beef is cut into thin ribbons & there were small to medium pieces of chicken that I liked more than the beef. Chinese Chicken Salad comes with it. I wish I saw more chicken in the salad though. My BF enjoyed the creamy 1000 Island style dressing while I prefer the oil-based, somewhat sweet salad dressing that several other places use. Would have loved to see some shredded chicken as opposed to a few bits of it as I mentioned but liked the crunchy topping. If they included a scoop of macaroni salad it would have made the Deluxe...well, more deluxe. We also got the Crunch Roll. It's less expensive than most places & it was a good choice. There's more to the menu that we'll try next time. While we weren't overwhelmed with the portions we didn't feel gouged with super crazy prices either. These days we're all paying more for food so we appreciate their efforts to offer decent meals & beverages for a decent price, hence the 4 stars. The man who helped us was nice & seemed to take pride in his business. It's located in a small strip mall with a smallish parking lot. I decided to try several different teriyaki places in LA and Orange county area for the 2018 &2019 @EatCheapwithPete Teriyaki Challenge. Mr. Teriyaki did not make the top three. I got the deluxe chicken and beef combo for $9.99. It comes with Chinese chicken salad and it had a creamy dressing and a crunchy topping. The plate at first looked like a nice size portion however I discovered a lot of rice when I started to dig into my Styrofoam container. For the cost, I was expecting more protein and less rice. I enjoyed the chicken more than the beef. The chicken had a nice char and good teriyaki flavor. The staff is super friendly. The restaurant is part of a shopping center and there is plenty of parking. read more

The owner I think it was took our order, we sat down and when it was ready, he showed up each plate to ensure everything we ordered was correct. NOW I APPRECIATE THAT!!! Anyhow we ordered 2 beef bowls, 1 Mongolian Plate, and 1 half and half. Its made fresh as you can hear the grill in the back cooking up our items. Its very clean on the inside and you get what you pay for. There are lots of tables if you decide to have a big party there. Bathrooms are clean and overall a great place to eat. What a lovely mom 'n pop teriyaki shop. I remember going to places lik this in my childhood days but this spot is CLEAN! The overall "layer of grease" you find in other places has been wiped away here. Called ahead and the owner(?) presumably took my order. Polite and efficient, very friendly. The food was solid. I usually default to chicken but got the combo to try the different proteins. I might skip the beef (tender but the flavor was just okay) and try the spicy pork next time. I'm a huge fan of Korean spicy pork but ymmv. Will report back on how spicy it really is. Came with extra teriyaki sauce (yes, please!) and sriracha. In and out in about 5 minutes. The plaza is on the corner and shares parking with a few other stores. I came later in the evening so it was pretty empty. Lovely Stanton everywhere. If you're in the area, I'd pop in for a chicken bowl or plate. The fresh green salad (ranch dressing) + mac salad were good balance to the rice. read more

I've heard good things about this spot and have tried to eat here on two separate occasions but was unable to due to their inconsistent hours. The first time I came on a Friday at 6pm and the owner flipped the sign closed just as I pulled in and didn't let me order despite their hours saying they are open till 7:30. Today I came by at 4:00 on a Monday and it's closed again with workers inside. The hours are posted Monday-Saturday 10 am-7:30pm closed on Sunday's but don't trust the sign. Also there were a ton of homeless people out front that almost deterred me from pulling in but I shouldn't have wasted my time since their never open the hours they say they are open. I didn't feel like cooking and this place appeared on my radar. Specializing in Teriyak bowl and plate style dishes with friendly service. Spicy pork plate was plentiful. Blanketed on a pile of rice, served next to a little green salad and a scoop of potatoes salad. A real winwin to the Mister. Teriyaki beef bowl made to order, garnished with some green onions. Very clean, music was low enough. The place was very comfortable. Owned by a Korean man who was very nice to talk to. I came in because I was close by and was dreaming about Mongolian noodles and seared beef after I saw it offered on the menu. Alas, I had Great Khan, Gengis Khan or Caesar's Mongolian BBQ in mind so I was a bit let down. Don't get me wrong, Mongolian it is not...but that being said, its ok as a beef chow mein. The meat had no char but it was cooked very nicely. The fermented black beans was what threw me off from trying to convince myself that the dish would pass as Mongolian. On a happier note, I would definitely suggest the chicken and beef teriyaki combo. Nicely cooked and a great portion size for two adults! I had the siriacha and extra teriyaki sauce on the side and loved kicking it up a notch. Very very tasty! I'm giving a weak 4 stars because although specifically the teriyaki was good, but I know that about a block away Krazy Smokey Teriyaki exists. For the difference of a few bucks, I would rather go there because the seasoning is better and the quality of the meat is a little higher. If you just need a teriyaki fix, Mr. Teriyaki will do. I've been driving passed this place for years and have never given it a shot. After it popped up as a 4 star joint on Yelp, my fiance and I decided to try it out. Needless to say, we're very happy we have. Walking in, you can tell it is independently owned. I personally don't mind but others might. They have 1 cook in the back and the gentlemen that works the counter, I'm assuming he is the owner. Very sweet guy, he chitchats and makes sure you're aware that some items may take a bit of time to make depending on the time of day you come. We came an hour after they opened and had to wait roughly 20 minutes but for those that were on lunch break or in a rush, he tends to pay close attention and get them in and out as quick as possible. Aware of his customers time, I like that. My fiance stayed home sick from work so we were in no rush, our plans were just to go back home and lounge for the rest of the day since he was not feeling his best. I did notice, and was pretty astounded about this fact, that he realized he ended up overcharging a customer, the customer was unaware of this but he stepped up and walked over to the customer and gave him back what he overcharged him for. The guy was confused but the guy working explained to him that he accidentally pushed the wrong size or something on his meal and was due a return in difference. Most other places would have just let it slip. It looked to be around $.50 something so that was sweet of him. Glad we gave it a shot, we'll be back. read more

I ordered one chicken plate and one order of dragon sushi roll. The plate was fine and tasted okay but the sushi was absolutely disgusting. I don't recommend anyone to order any of the sushi. The rice is hard and stale and just doesn't taste right. Taste like a bs sushi, i ended up throwing it in the trash. read more
