    Regular salmon handroll
    Christina V.

First time here with my lil toddler. Nice open space. Was planing on ordering their udon noodle, but once I sat down I got their galbi short ribs plate instead, and I'm glad I did! It was filling and pretty good! I'd definitely order it again. Their salmon hand roll was just okay, to me. Look forward to trying more items next time tho! & Assuming the lady who helped me/ server was the owner? She's sweet and nice.

We were looking for a place to eat before shopping and just happened to stumble upon this place. For lunch time on a Sunday, they were not busy. We walked in and was greeted by a nice lady who may have been the owner. They have the traditional teriyaki dishes, katsu, udon, ramen, and sushi. We decided to order the teriyaki chicken with CA roll, and crunchy roll, chicken katsu with CA roll and crunchy roll, and the pork katsu bowl. The plates had a ton of food. The chicken katsu was delicious and my Japanese mom thought the pork katsu(tonkatsu) was really good. Service was friendly and the restaurant itself was pretty clean.

Tokyo Bites is a new Japanese restaurant that took over Rice Meats Soup. There are some big shoes to fill. Came here on a weekday evening looking for Rice Meats Soup, but ended up dining here. Decor and furniture look the same. There is a new sign, menu, and posters inside and out. Management seems to be the same as well (we talked with one of the employees.) This spot opened up pretty quickly. Upon entering, we were greeted by a staff member and led to a table. It wasn't too busy. I ordered the Unagi Bowl and a side of Miso Soup. Food came fast and portions are decent. The unagi seemed good quality and was flavorful. It was served with steamed vegetables and rice. The miso soup was served in a paper cup which we thought was odd. It is a pretty standard miso soup. They are giving a discount for the month as part of their grand opening, which is nice. Overall, giving Tokyo Bites a 4/5. Staff are friendly and service is good. Food seems solid. Would come back to try other things on the menu. Would recommend others to visit. Welcome to the neighborhood, Tokyo Bites!

I would like to thank the two ladies who took my order and prepared it, the seafood was soo freaking fresh. The tuna was no regular slice of fish, it seemed kike it had some sort of seasoning and flash grill on it. Definitely one I never had before and will definitely return for. The hand rolls were filled very nicely throughout the roll. Rice was beautifully cooked, every grain separated and perfectly cooked. Try them out if you haven't, didn't get to take a pic but they have a huge selection of ice creams that I'll have to get next time.

Was driving by and figured I'd try it out. Great decision, Very nice place cashier was super friendly. And everything looked great. The inside was very relaxing type of atmosphere saw staff checking in on all the tables often. Right now they had 20% off your bill and it was well worth price! Got a sushi roll and noodles. Noodles were so fresh and bowl was super hot, Sushi roll was the fantastic got spicy tuna so good!! I will be back and with friends so good!!

Came here with a friend today and ordered the salmon no rice roll. It was really good. The salmon tasted fresh and the service was good too. I will be coming back here again.

New ownership and menu but same staff as Rice Meat Soup

I was honestly shocked when I drove by after dropping off my daughter at school and saw that Rice Meat Soup had become Tokyo Bites... I was just here two weeks ago! RMS was one of my favorite food spots in the area, so I was worried about the change. But to my relief, most of the staff is still here, and the new menu looks pretty exciting. Tokyo Bites now focuses on rice bowls, noodles, and a big variety of sushi rolls and dishes. I actually missed having sushi rolls on the menu when RMS removed them, so I'm really glad to see them back. The thing is I really missed the napa cabbage pork belly dishes and soups from RMS (they were so delicious!!!!) but I guess that just means I'll be exploring the new menu more. This time I tried the Tokyo Bites Roll and the Peppered Salmon Roll. Both were excellent and made in very generous portions, which I love because a lot of sushi places give you tiny rolls. The seasoning on the Peppered Salmon Roll had just the right amount of kick to make it interesting. The Tokyo Bites Roll has eel and tempura, and even though I'm not usually a fan of eel, they prepared it so well that I really enjoyed it. Overall, I think Tokyo Bites is a solid replacement for RMS. It's different, but still really good, and I'm excited to come back and try more of the menu.

So glad we tried this new spot near our house. Solid choice for Katsu and teriyaki plates. It came with a lot of food and it was all tasty. No complaints. Service was quick and friendly for our Togo order. We will definitely be back

    To-go menu

I was on my way home one day and saw that the name had changed on the business from Rice Meats Soup to Tokyo Bites, and there was a 20% off sale going for the grand opening. I like sushi and eat it often, so I decided to stop in and see what was offered. The interior was very clean inside and BTS was playing on the TV. There was only one other customer inside eating a meal. I was greeted and handed a menu and I selected two items to go: the eel bowl and a dynamite roll. Didn't have to wait long for my food, and I took it to go. When I brought it home to eat, I noticed a couple of things wrong/questionable: With my bowl, the eel tasted abnormally chewy, like chewing on chicken skin, while the bones were not as soft as they should be. The taste was fine , but the texture I couldn't get over. Also, there were a number of black spots on my avocado slices in the bowl, and not small ones, but large ones as if the slices had sat out a bit or the avocado was starting to turn. My dynamite roll had the issue of dry Bay scallops that were stuck together and tasteless. The sauces tasted OK, but the main California rolls had hardly any flavor and were exceptionally sticky. Not long after eating, I started having stomach/intestinal issues. These issues and bathroom trips are still ongoing three days later. Needless to say I was likely food poisoned, and so I caution anyone that goes to this place and if the food doesn't taste quite right, stop eating it immediately. I paid around $30 for the two items and that's with the sale--not worth it in my opinion. I'm only rating higher than 1 star because of the clean dining area and promptness of service. If you want a good sushi place, I suggest Crazy Rock'n Sushi in Stanton, Poki Roll in Cypress, or Uroko Cafe/Uroko Poke in Cypress if you lean more towards poke bowls and hand rolls to go.

I think that this place is pretty good, I've been coming here a few times now and I believe that the service is great, the order was given at a good time and service does not take that long. The food is great, I thought that it tasted really good personally and I would recommend other people I know to come here, I would say that it is worth it. The overall atmosphere of the place is good too, it is very quiet but it is maintained well and clean, there is nothing really that I can say that is negative over this place, I would recommend it

Wish the store shows on google maps bc I dont live in the area and barely remembered where it was bc it was close to the Cypress campus For take out, I got a Philly roll and spicy tuna roll, and they were delicious they were bigger and fuller than I expected. Each roll is ab 8 pcs ranging from 10-15$! Will def come again after classes

    Salmon plate

Customer service is a 10/10 nice server!! I got the salmon plate both dressing sauce and salmon are to die for I also got the gyozas!! I WILL be going again to try the noodles

We returned a few weeks later and when ordering, he mentioned again he was vegan. The server took our order and mentioned the veggie miso uses veggie broth, no mention of the noodles. Since it was our 2nd visit here, we didn't remember the egg noodles until my bowl came out. We flagged the server down and once again mentioned his dietary restriction and asked if it's too late to sub out the noodles. He mentioned the ramen was already done but could ask the kitchen. We offered to pay for that bowl and taking it to go while they just made a new one for us that was 100% vegan. He said it was fine and they would just remake it. When his food came out, the server lectured us about next time to let him know of any "special requests" that we had ahead of time even though he did mention he was VEGAN when ordering. I nicely informed him we had only been there 1 other time so didn't remember that the noodles were egg noodles. My boyfriend also chimed in saying that we knew it was our mistake and was why we offered to pay for that bowl to go and have them make another one. The server said it wasn't a big deal but continued lecturing us and stating they had to waste an entire bowl of ramen. When my boyfriend received his bowl it was clear to see that they didn't throw it away as the server claimed since his bowl was extremely messy. It looked like the kitchen was upset with us and made the bowl with anger as the toppings were all over the place. While we really enjoyed our first visit, we'll never come back.

After we walked right in front of Omusubi Gonbei, we both decided to get some onigiri. We were greeted by a smiling and friendly employee behind the counter when we approached this little eatery. We ended up purchasing: Spicy Tuna, $2.70 prior to tax- My husband decided to order this and really enjoyed it. I didn't have any because I am not much of a spicy eater. But my husband enjoyed it. Grilled Eel, $3.60 prior to tax- My husband and I split this one. I really liked the eel and also the sauce that was used on top of the eel. My husband also really liked this one. Fried Oyster, $3.60 prior to tax- I decided to order this one but it was topped with a spicy mayonnaise that I thought was a little too spicy for me (again, I am not a spicy eater). But the fried oyster itself was good. ---------------------------------- (Total= $10.67 after tax) Wait time for our items was pretty much non existent, since the girl helping us boxed up our items before I even had the chance to finish paying (I always struggle to pay via tap on the first try... I always seem to have the credit card somewhere else, instead of wherever the sensor is to pay for it...D'oh). This was a great snack for us since we had lunch 3 hours before (I had a light lunch of a tofu salad so the 1.5 onigiri that I had was perfect for me). I like that the onigiri was fresh and the filling. But there is a significant amount of rice and very little of the filling. But I still liked it regardless and would definitely come back to try the other flavors in the future.

I definitely enjoyed the omusubi I have had from here if I compare it to the refrigerated ones…read moreavailable inside the Mitsuwa itself. But I must agree with other reviewers on certain aspects. The nori is very soft and chewy. It's not separated from the warm gohan itself. So if you're accustomed to onigiri with crisp nori, you will be disappointed. Depending on which kind of omusubi you're getting, I also agree that it may definitely feel like there's a lot more rice than the filling. I usually get the mentaiko, ebiten, and oyster musubis. I feel as though those are actually consistently good. The saltiness of the fillings really offsets the amount of rice included and makes it work. My other favorite flavors are takana and shiso. The two goes perfectly well with the karaage they sell separately. Another thing is that the rice itself is actually seasoned and not plain, which helps. Chashu and other fillings like eel has been a miss at this location. Same with their tuna and salmon offerings. I must admit I'm especially not a huge fan of their tuna offerings. It uses too much katsuobushi flavor in my opinion. I like mine more mayo forward. The service here can be a hit or a miss. It really depends on who is working there and what time/day of the week it is. Same goes with the availability of seatings. Parking is free but can be a hassle to find a close spot because of the proximity to the gym, superchargers, and other businesses.

This sushi place seems to just keep getting better…read more Not sure if they had oysters before but I recently saw it on the menu. It is so good we get at least two orders everytime we come I also love all the nigiri they have. We usually pick the ones from Japan and it is delicious. The service is really good. I usually get my food without sesame and I noticed the other day they accidentally out a little sesame on it and instead of just picking it off and giving it to me the remade the whole order. I was very very impressed by it. The ambiance is nice. It can feel casual but the food you taste is very Delicious and feel high end.

Quick dinner on a Friday after work. The staff is always welcoming and made sure to check in on us…read moreregularly. Our first time here was last. It was happy hour before 5pm. Prices are affordable and sushi was flavorful. Today, we ordered almost the same items but unfortunately there was barely any taste. It did not taste bad more like freshly unfrozen with only some flavor and little sweetness. Spicy edamame - tasted like it was just sate'd in chili oil and salt Yellow tail belly Albacore belly Jumbo Scallop Ankimo Spanish Makeral Red Snapper We really enjoyed this place and wanted to give it another try but if you do try; definitely come before 5pm for their Makeral hour prices. Again, the staff was very nice nice welcoming. It is a place for family and quick get together but the food has been hit n miss.

I was craving some cold soba and saw that Echizen offered Zaru Soba! We waited about 15 minutes or…read moreso for a table for 2. Under their Light Dinner section, they offer a Zarusoba for $12.00 and a Tempura Udon/Soba with Shrimp Tempura for $13.00. However, if you want Zarusoba with Tempura, they charge an extra dollar. The Zarusoba was good, but it would be nice if they gave a bit more sauce for dipping. I also got a Sashimi Salad, which had a lot of sashimi! It had salmon, tuna, and a white fish. Pretty good, but it could have used a little more dressing as well. The Combination Plate with Salmon and Tempura was enjoyable. It comes with a piece of salmon, a variety of tempura (shrimp, broccoli, sweet potato, onion), side salad, miso soup, rice, tempura sauce, and teriyaki sauce. Salmon was cooked well, and I liked all of the tempura! Their Lunch Specials are originally what caught my eye, but it seems like they don't have anything similar for dinner. Instead, everything is a la carte with the exception of a few combination plates. I wish they would do dinner specials similar to their lunch specials! Parking here is pretty difficult. The lot gets packed with several cars circling around hunting for a spot. They're also going some construction right now which doesn't help. There is a large parking lot where the Home Depot is next door, but they specifically have signs posted to say you can't park there.

Been coming here since 2014…read more Started as a broke Cypress College student now working in corporate. Authentic Japanese-owned, mostly Japanese staff, with a couple of long-timers who have clearly found their forever workplace - over a decade and counting. New owner took over when the original retired, a few small changes here and there, but the food and service? Barely touched. That is the highest compliment a ownership transition can get. Check IG for their lunch specials from M-F. I am leaving this review purely out of self-interest. This place cannot close.
