Shortly after my dad passed away I brought his Lord Elgin watch in for repair since it was not running and i wanted to wear it for sentimental reasons. They quoted me $100 for cleaning, plus parts if needed with "one year guarantee" which seemed reasonable enough. Over two months later, I finally got the watch back - it ran but only for a few hours after I left the shop. Finally got around to taking it back 1 month ago. They kept the watch for 3 weeks, then called to tell me that it was "ready". Brought it home, stopped running after a couple hours. Wound it some more, still would not run for more than a few hours. Brought it in yesterday only to have the store owner berate me - actually yelled at me. "This is an old watch you can't expect it to run for more than a few hours. Its a wind up watch you need to wind it all the time." She also told me that this was true of Rolex's and other high end watches that they "repair". I advised her that I am old enough to have owned a number of wind up watches to know that you don't have to wind them more than once a day. Bottom line, in spite of the "one year warranty", she REFUSED to attempt further repairs on the watch ("we fix it twice already!!!") and told me that she really didn't care what I wrote on review sites. So, there are at least three reasons, in my opinion based on my experience. to avoid this shop: 1.) They grafitti the inside of your watch - they told me AFTER "repairing" the watch the first time that the "uncle" etches his name inside the watch! 2.) You cannot expect them to fix your watch so that it runs for more than a few hours. The owner acted as if this was the rule not the exception with their "repairs" stating that "even the Rolex's we fix do this". 3.)Very rude when they are unable to perform. I have been bringing watches into this store for relatively minor things like batteries and bands for years and have written 5 star reviews for them in the past but they clearly failed the real test - actually repairing my dad's watch. read more

They said, "It happen naturally, because rubber too old" But, I was already clean my watch and check up the condition. Before I went to there. I have used this place for battery replacement in other watches that I own. They get the job done for a reasonable cost. As far as a watch repair, I would suggest finding someplace else. I have two Citizen watches that I needed repaired. One needed what I thought was just a new battery and the other is a first generation Eco-Drive that would not hold a charge for more than a day. When I explained what the issues with the watches were to the gentleman behind the counter, he told me that the watch that needed the battery had a bad movement in the watch and could not be fixed since it was discontinued. The Eco-Drive watch he explained would "cost more to repair than the watch is worth." He was more than happy to show me a replacement watch that he would be willing to sell me. Really? If I had the money to buy a new watch, I wouldn't be trying to get my watches fixed. Plus, the watches that I was looking to get repaired were gifts from family members. They hold some sentimental value and I really don't want to just replace them because the guy behind the counter says they can't be repaired. I sent my watches directly to Citizen to have them repaired. And much to my amazement, both watches are being repaired for considerably less than the cost of one of the watches this guy at Mr. Time was trying to sell me. I wish I could give zero stars. Was interested in a watch and knew more about it than the owner and her daughter. Next thing they tell me is that they have lay away available. Really? I could pay cash easily at full retail, but I'm not a sucker. If your a shrewd shopper like most now a days with the advent of Amazon and other certified online retailers, forget this place as they would not come off the retail in excess of 700.00 which certified online retailers for Seiko is selling for 440.00. I usually trade at Seymour Jewelers. I was close to Mr. Time and stopped in for a watch battery based on the 4 star reviews. Maybe you have to be an Asian to get that level of service there. I note that some merchants new to business in the U,S. don't understand the American way of customer service. Holiday time is especially advantageous to attract new customers. The female jeweler, likely the owner, didn't waste any time with me, wouldn't allow her partner to look at the minor wristband problem and declined to install my mini-battery in my pocket digital clock, saying it took too much time. I received a beautiful white Marc Jacobs watch for Christmas, by my lovely boyfriend. The fit was very big...I had it resized for free at Macy*s since that's where he bought it. This review based on over the years and multiple visits's experience. I went here couple times for battery replacement; ranging from a little less than $10 for regular inexpensive watch and $17 for a vintage slim/thin watch. Happy with the price because previously had paid ~$30 somewhere else for the same watch. But then I noticed the batteries changed from here dies out pretty quickly, twice of the same watch maybe lasted around few months to 1 year the most, and the last battery changed at this place I noticed few scratches on the side of the case from the attempts to open the back cover; and on the watch dial's shown an obvious speck of dusts on the surface, which weren't there before. Since I was a bit concerned about the sloppiness of the last work, and a bit skeptical on the quality of their batteries, I decided to brought it back to the first store that charged $30 something before when the time battery died again. I explained that I needed to change battery and also wanted to know if they can help clean the speck of dust showing on the dial's surface. The man couldn't promise he can completely clean as the watch is very small and thin, it's not easy to open it; but would do his best to clean it. They managed to clean it thorough enough that I don't see the dust anymore; and the battery is confirmed last much longer since it's been over a year since the replacement, and my watch is still working. The bottom line I learnt the lesson of relationship of price and value. Based on these experiences I probably will still come for a quick and simple service for my watches that require easy maintenance or inexpensive ones; but probably won't be trusting them with my watch that has important value. read more

I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years but my last visit was below unexceptionable I needed my watchband repaired and left it I was told it needs to be sent to the factory for repairs I went to pick it up two of the pieces were missing (the lock latch & the one half of the pin) they could not find them and then the Mom starts to get an attitude about it saying I know what you're trying to do like I'm trying to scam them or rip them off or something ????. I am sure the part time kid was the one who started this whole mess because he removed the latch from the band and the pin ended up being seized in the link, so while trying to remove the pin they ruined it and told me that they could not repair it and i would have to send it to the factory for repairs. I didn't see any reason to remove the latch from the band, that was not the reason I brought the watch in for in the first place. I ended up leaving without the lost parts and no apologies or anything but if we can find them will call you. I'm not going to hold my breath. When I got home i drilled out the seized pin so I think I can still repair the watch, but I don't have the lock latch. I will never recommend anyone to take there watch there for any reason. read more

I came to Mr. Time to replace the batteries for three different watches. The staff that works here is very friendly, attentive and helpful. They did it for us right then and there and only took maybe 15 minutes tops. But what I really liked about this place was that my watch had a very loose clasp and the lady immediately realized this and offered to fix it for $2 more, where if I would have come back another time then she would have charged me more but since I was already getting the batteries changed it would only cost me $2 more dollars, which I definitely went ahead and did. Do not go here if you want pleasant service! Older lady and younger one treat you like dirt. I replaced my own watch battery and needed the back cover pressed on tightly with their machine they use. However, after explaining that I just replaced it with a new battery, they took the watch came back saying I needed to put their battery since mine didn't fit. I used the same exact battery that the watch came with! So instead of arguing, I said ok fine. Use your battery and close the back please. When she came back, the plate was still not flush with the back of the watch, so I pointed it out by flicking it open with my finger. If they did a proper job, the back of the watch would not pop open by flicking it! So I asked for my battery and watch back. Don't trust them at this point. Then when I got home, I opened the watch to check, but they gave me the wrong battery!! They kept the one I bought and gave me the wrong one back!! Now I need to buy another battery and find someone else who can close the back for me What cheaters! read more

I received 2 battery replacements 8.95 and 12.95 (apparently G-shock cases are especially hard to open) and a band resized for 7 dollars. Not the cheapest I have found but they seemed professional. Hard to judge technical skill as I asked for pretty basic services, but I liked the fact that they set the date and time on both watches. I think little touches like that show that someone is taking pride in customer service. At first I was annoyed that although my digital watch showed the correct date (April 30th), my analog watch was incorrectly set to the 31st. Then I realized that if they had set it to 30 the date would be wrong within 10 hrs, but by setting the date ahead I would not have to adjust it for 2 months. Well done Mr Time. read more
