    Cafe de Olla, Money Cat

My friend and I wanted to check out some live music on a weekday evening, and we were not disappointed! Loved the vibes and enjoyed listening to some talented musicians. We were impressed with list of various artists performing at this bar. We tried a few cocktails, and all of them were well-crafted. Their Money Cat had a strong citrus flavor, but I could distinguish its ingredients like the rosemary and villain through multiple sips. Their Cafe de Olla was rich and layered with many flavors that came together well. Finally, their Zobo was refreshing and slightly floral, making it quite easy to drink. Great spot for creative cocktails and a lively yet intimate vibe. Their food menu also seems quite extensive and something I would like to try in the future!

This is a lovely jazz venue in the city. The "music-focused preferred seats" on OpenTable cost $5 extra when reserving online, which advertises best sound and sight lines of the performance on stage. We ended up reserving standard seating for Saturday, and were pleasantly surprised to be seated right next to the stage (side view), allowing for a decent experience while saving a few bucks. The service was super slow at arrival to seat guests, but once we entered the main room, the frustration melted away. Loved the chic atmosphere and vibe, with dim reddish lighting setting the mood. SLUGish Ensemble did a remarkable job entertaining the crowd, playing an hour of live music while we were there (one of two sets by the band on this evening). The sounds of the guitar, saxophone, oboe, drums, acoustic piano, synthesizer (keyboard), and bass... great rhythms and melodies to keep the audience engaged, especially with some of their SF-themed songs. We got the Mister Loveless cocktail, The Tipple's Deluxe Martini w/ gin (which was really strong), and food off the dim sum menu at the Fat Cat. Braised short ribs, spinach seafood dumplings, lamb & carrot dumplings, bok choy & mushroom dumplings, roasted duck & pork belly bao, and pork & shrimp siu mai. Everything was served graduallly to our table, starting 15 minutes after we ordered, except the braised short ribs which was served at the very end of the jazz set. The buns and dumplings were good for americanized versions of these dishes. Don't expect the quality you would get at an authentic dim sum restaurant. Also, they charge a 21% service fee on all checks, so I'm gonna say there's no need for an additional tip.

Love the ambiance in here! I had been wanting to explore more jazz lounges, and Mr. Tipple's did not disappoint. It's located in a non-descript alley and I went on a weekday with a friend - there was a $15 cover. Inside, we got seated pretty quickly. It's relatively small inside, so everyone has a pretty front and center view of the stage -- and the musicians were fantastic! They played for maybe 45 minutes and my friend and I got some small bites to share as a second dinner. The shumai and duck/pork belly bao were decent, about what you'd expect at a jazz club and not a Chinese restaurant lol. Overall on the pricier side given the cover, but a very cozy experience.

Genuinely so impressed with my visit here. I had an 8pm Sunday reservation, and every single table was full. The ambiance was incredible - it felt warm and romantic, with dim lighting and a spotlight on the stage. This seemed to be a popular date night spot, with cozy two-seat tables with a perfect view of the stage. The employees were all friendly and efficient, checking in on us but not drawing attention away from the musicians. The food selection was unique. I've never been to a jazz bar that serves dim sum. The clay pot rice sounded delicious, and the dumplings were solid. I was also impressed by the variety of drinks. There were a whole range of unique cocktails and a few zero alcohol drinks. And the music was just incredible. The musicians were so talented, performing their own compositions and fun renditions of classic holiday tunes. It was genuinely entrancing to watch such skilled performers have fun on stage. I will definitely be coming back for more live music!

I was here with a large group in the semiprivate space for a birthday. It is a beautiful space with kind staff, good food, and tasty drinks. We got a group price where it included a lot of the dishes. Totally worth every cent. We were there at a time to hear two incredible acts. Such a wonderful energy with the live music. Thank you so much to the manager for making it such a great night. Thank you to our server, whose name I didn't catch! He had a cute cap, mustache, and glasses. The staff was nice enough to cut and plate the birthday cake we brought. I will, without a doubt, return again.

What a great club! It's the perfect size (intimate, but not crowded), the music is not over-amplified (because it doesn't have to be), and the ambiance is 'speakeasy'. Asian food seemed an odd choice for a jazz club, but the food was tasty (spinach and seafood dumplings are a standout). Service was good: attentive while unobtrusive. We opted for the $15 tickets because we thought that the $20 might put us too close to the band, hence be too loud. Two conclusions: (1) we had great visibility from our $15 seats and (2) being up front in the $20 seats would have been fine, too, because the sound was not overdone. Food & drink prices were a little high, but not outrageous (let's just say that you'll have no trouble meeting the expected $20pp spend whether you eat or just have a drink.

I've been wanting to go to a jazz club for years and last night I finally did just that. Our reservation was at 7 but we got there at 7:10. They explain the process when you check in. You open a tab before you're even seated and then they take you to your table. You have 90 minutes at that table and if you want to stay longer you can you'll just be moved to the bar area in the back. We got seated right in front of the stage. Everyone's talking amongst themselves but when the music starts you need to keep the noise to a minimum so everyone can enjoy the music. When you're seated they give you a drink and food menu and a stamp you use to pick out what you want. They have dim sum type food, cocktails, mocktails with CBD and sodas. You can also order the mocktails without CBD. We ordered the Shanghai XLB soup dumplings, chicken wontons and crispy potstickers as well as the zobo mocktail and a ginger beer. They brought us a cucumber salad that we didn't order and when we asked the waitress about it she said it was on the house. When we got our bill we were charged for it. It's fine it was good but if they tell you something is on the house you would think it meant free lol. Other than that the service was great. There were 2 bands while we were there. They play for about an hour each with a 20 minute or so break in between to set up. There's a tip jar that goes directly to the musicians and I was happy many patrons including ourselves left something in the jar. Throughout the set I was drawn to a different instrument each song which was cool. There's free street parking. At least it was free when we got there (7pm). The place is easy to find. It's bigger than I thought it'd be but still has that intimate feeling. Gender neutral bathroom with individual stalls and communal sink area. Would come back again!

We came here for date night and I really loved it. Excellent service, attentive waitress, great bartender who made me a low ABV spritz after I had the Money Cat (tasty but too strong for me). We got spicy dumplings and it was surprisingly quality dim sum. No pics of the dumpling but we also ordered 2 desserts to share - the chocolate mousse with pineapple - such an odd combination but it works - and a mochi waffle with black sesame and earl grey ice cream. I really liked the black sesame and my partner liked the earl grey so it was a good combo. We saw the Sonia Cuenca Jazz Quartet and stayed for both sets since it wasn't crowded. The seating area is pretty large and there is also an alcove to host larger parties in the back. Will definitely come back!

I came to Mr. Tipple's Jazz Club on a Thursday night for the 7 pm show and caught Charged Particles, who were excellent. Tight, engaging, and clearly having fun with the set. I sat in the standard section rather than the music-focused seating, which I'd actually recommend if you want to be able to talk. You still get a great sense of the music, but you don't feel self-conscious having a conversation with your friend. The overall vibe really hit a sweet spot. It felt like a proper jazz club without being stuffy or overly hushed. You could listen closely when you wanted to and relax into the evening when you didn't. I came in expecting strong music, which Mr. Tipple's delivers on, but what genuinely surprised me was the food. We ordered the soup dumplings and the chicken wontons, and both were impressive. Super juicy, well-seasoned, and surprisingly authentic for a jazz bar. Not an afterthought at all. The cocktails were also solid, balanced and well-made, and paired nicely with the music rather than competing with it. All around, a really enjoyable night that felt thoughtfully put together from start to finish.

The space is small but perfectly handled. They have the tables arranged just right to fit everyone and they time the reservations to turn the tables. We got to see two bands and both were great. We started with drinks at the bar then ordered food from our table. You stamp what you want on a card then it shows up fast. We tried lots of different items. Everything was good except the dumplings which barely had any filling.

Wow! I came here to celebrate my partner's birthday and it was such a delight. The hostess Dejanae and the servers were incredibly sweet and the place was a VIBE! The musicians are truly talented and gave a great performance every time. As for the food, we tried the spinach dumplings, chicken wontons, and roasted duck and pork baos. The spinach dumplings were OK- the dough was thick and had a bite like al dente pasta. They also only gave us 4 pieces rather than 5. But the chicken wontons were great and we ended up ordering them a second time. The bao buns were so pillowy soft but the meat was rather a bit dry. I would come here again for the music, vibes, and drinks! $50 for a 2 person reservation + $120 for the food (including a 21% gratuity)

Such a cute jazz club. Came around 10pm with a reservation and got sat right away. We needed to put a card down and have min spend. We ordered 2 mocktails and desserts and stayed for a few songs. Loved every moment of it.

Dim Sum, cocktails, acoustic panels, live jazz. Everything was perfect. The Maple Miso old fashioned was our favorite. Mochi waffle is huge.

I was craving a refreshing craft cocktail and got one with the Green Emmanuelle. I liked the cardamom in the Beauty Mark as well that my partner ordered. We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.
