This is lengthy. I really want to give 0 stars but I am giving 1 because Erik works there and he really does his best with what he has to work with. I'm not sure who the old guy that Everyone complains about in the comments name is, that alone says a lot, but he seems to run the shop. I was extremely agitated with my visit here for multiple reasons that I will try to summarize. I walk in as I need a tire replaced and a "free" diagnostic as advertised. The 'free' diagnostic is apparently not free but costs a whopping $130! Apparently they can run the code for 'free' but they can't interpret it without $130. I say okay give me the free code, but don't interpret the diagnostic if it costs that much. I leave my car because it needs to stay overnight. This was unclear as they only asked if I was dropping off and picking back up. But fine, not an issue. By evening, I receive a quote for $850 because in addition to 1 tire, I need to replace another tire, balancing and alignment, replace an air filter and a manifold pressure sensor because they interpreted the diagnostic anyway of course. Okay. I return the next day for pick up and my quote is now $1000. The old guy swears up and down that he told me this on the phone. He was getting frustrated, raising his voice at me. I asked them to remove the tire alignment and air filter which they did to bring my price back down to the original quote. They gave me the actual diagnostic for 'Free'. I actually have a preferred mechanic that works on my car and thought this would be a simple tire replacement. So I stressed that I did not ask for any service other than the replacement of two tires and the manifold pressure sensor was not something that I came in for but they had already put it on, so I paid for it. He tells me I can collect my car at 2 PM same day when I had to come back and give them my wheel lock that he did not check for the day before when it was dropped off. I leave at 12:20 and by 12:40, he calls and says my car is ready. I asked why did he tell me I can come back at 2 PM if I could've just waited there for 20 more minutes and he says he put the car on rush but I already left. Communication is terrible. They need to send people exact quotes in writing, exact services that will be performed in writing, because relying on verbal confirmation for every thing and then arguing over what he thinks he said vs what I heard is insane. I don't recommend unless you walk with a pen and a paper and write down everything he says as he says it. I'm not coming back. read more

I dropped off my 2017 Jeep here on Monday and after just two days, my vehicle is ready for me to pick it up! This place definitely delivered fast and awesome service. My car needed new brakes, new tires, and a front end alignment job. I had been meaning to get this service done since even before the pandemic, and just within the last month, the brakes were beginning to make a screetching noise. This reminded me that I needed to service my Jeep. The Service Manager here is just awesome. We initially spoke on the phone last week, which is when he suggested that I drop it off on Monday. I couldn't go too many days without my vehicle, and I'm glad that they were able to complete these fixes in just two days. I originally came in on Sunday afternoon for an alignment. Called to ask about availability and was told to bring the car in. When I arrived, a short elderly man with long grey hair was at the counter (assuming he is the manager because he was the only one there) Not only was he rude and condescending towards me, but when I told him I had a Groupon, he started laughing and shaking his head.... I should've just left then and there, but it was a good price so I stayed. When it was done and I came to collect my paperwork, the same gentleman tried to get me to pay the difference between the Groupon (84.99$) and a regular alignment (150$) I told him the point of the Groupon was to save money, and that if I had known I had to pay the difference, I would've gone somewhere else. He eventually gave in and honored the Groupon, but was extremely rude through the whole process. When I left, I was glad the situation was over with and never planned to return. When I got home, I parked my car until 3 AM when I had to go to work. When I got in the car, discovered that my rear driver side tire was flat. Of course first I tried to find a nail or puncture, but when I could not find anything, I realized I had to contact the Mr Tire. On Monday morning, unfortunately, the same older man attended to me. He told me that it was impossible that his mechanics made any mistake and that I must've had ran over something- without even looking at the tire. He told me it would be 59$ to repair the tire, so I decided to just take the loss and not bother arguing with a person that had already treated me with so much disrespect. Eventually, four hours later, I got a call from him saying that the tire was not able to be repaired and that I needed to buy a new one. I told him I would pick up the car with the spare tire on it. I picked it up Monday night, happy that I would never have to see that grumpy old guy again. Honestly, I was shocked that my experience was this bad since I've had such good experiences here in the past with Omar and another gentleman (forgot his name) that does inspections. I'm disappointed in this brand as a whole for hiring a person that so obviously hates his job. I understand some people have bad days, but the way that he was talking down to me, and treating me like I was a child was unacceptable. Needless to say, I will never be returning. read more

They did not rotate my tires even though the online description of an oil change lists tire rotation as part of an oil change. I am a 73 year old woman and I guess they figured I wasn't smart enough to mark my tires before my appointment. I called and complained and they said they do the rotation upon customer request. Of course their online description doesn't say you have to ask for it and who would think I would have to do that when it is listed as part of an oil change. Fast, seemingly reliable and perfectly solid service on a wheel alignment last week. Made the appointment easily online and all went through without a hitch. I haven't driven the car very long since so I can't speak to full quality and longevity of work so far, but seems to be just fine and was completed on time if not a bit early. Price was not amazing but exactly as quoted and on par with several other shops I contacted in my effort to get this work done before a lengthy drive for work the next day Note on that price thing though: THIS place was great and charged the same for all regular vehicle alignments no matter the size. Sedan, suv, minivan, coupe...all sizes cost the same here as far as I could tell (about $110-120ish). This was NOT the case at two other area shops though! Two of the six or so places I contacted quoted me an "SUV upgrade" charge of $20-$50 for "larger alignment work and equipment" in addition to the $120 "standard charge." If this is perfectly legit then I'm just lucky to have avoided it more often than not. But it seems shady and definitely is not the case everywhere. Including here at this nice mr. tire on 29. Just fyi. (I don't feel comfortable naming the two shops that did this extra suv stuff here now, but if I look into it further perhaps I'll write separate notes on their pages...) read more

This has to be the worst experience I've ever had with any business in my life. Mr. Tire in Arlington is a complete and utter disgrace. They ripped me off, lied to my face, and left me with a dangerously defective tire that could have gotten me killed. I paid for "Road Hazard Coverage," and guess what? My tire started losing air right after they "fixed" it. When I called to get it sorted out, they refused to take any responsibility and flat-out LIED about the coverage I paid for! The people running this shop are con artists and thieves. They don't care about you, your safety, or doing an honest day's work. The manager had the audacity to brush me off like my issue didn't matter--like I was just another sucker they had successfully scammed. This place is a joke, and the people who work here are crooks who deserve to be out of business. They took my money, gave me nothing but problems in return, and now they refuse to fix their own screw-up. This is not just incompetence--this is fraud, plain and simple. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy. If you care about your life and your money, STAY FAR AWAY from Mr. Tire. I hope everyone sees this for what it is: a warning. I will make it my mission to tell everyone I can about the scam artists working here until this place is either shut down or forced to change their ways. read more

Brought my car in for a slow leak in one tire and left with a massive scratch right in the middle of the driver's side door. The scratches were fresh enough so that flecks of paint were still peeling off the deeper gouges. When confronted, the staffer I talked to said that it couldn't have been their fault because the service bays are so wide and oh-by-the-way you signed a waiver that absolved them of any damage that might happen in their parking lot. To "reassure" me that this was true, he told me a story about how his $60,000 Dodge charger was scratched that way recently. Reassuring indeed! To be fair, it may indeed be true that another customer is to blame for the scratch, but who knows? Even so, do you want to take your car there? Small claims court will sort out who is and isn't responsible. read more

So much worse of a tire experience than I could have imagined. Mid 2023 I got my tires changed here. In that process the guys broke my rear hatch release. No big deal but what followed was 6 months of lies and idiocy that left me out a couple hundred bucks with no apologies. When my hatch was broken, Josh told me I could swing by any time to have it replaced. I drove 40 minutes there only to be told they couldn't do it without an appointment. So i made an appointment. First appointment they told me they couldn't because the body guy was out. Second time they couldn't because the paint guy was out. Third appointment I drove out again and they gave up and filed an insurance claim ( another hour wasted) and I received guarantee from the then store owner I'd be reimbursed. He "filed a refund claim" which I had to follow up on for weeks, only for him to change jobs and me not receive a refund. Garret took over as store manager and had been nothing but defensive and unhelpful since. The first time I talked to garret he put me on hold for 18 minutes and I hung up. The second time he wouldn't believe my story, insinuated I was lying, told me there's nothing he could do, but changed his mind and said the regional manager was there. Sean, the regional manager, did the exact same thing as the previous store manager. Told me he'd filed a return and it would be in my account. I called back one more time but no one would give me Sean's number and had no record of this situation. Were to call back now it would be about my 20th try calling them post-service. I'm not stupid enough to keep trying, but will forever be impressed by everyone's ineptitude, and will never go to a Mr Tire again. read more

They tried to sell me extra services that I didn't need when I came in for an oil change

This place is awful. I brought my car in a few weeks ago because one of my tires needed checking out. I was constantly filling it with air. I figured there was a nail or a leaky valve or something that needed to be fixed. Brought it to this location and was told they found a small nail and they patched the tire up. Charged 50$ for this. I've gotten tires patched up for 15$ in the past. I thought okay rip off but thats because you pay for the name "Mr. Tire". Anyway-fast forward to today. That same tire is completely flat this morning. I was able to drive up the street and fill it with air just to get it to the nearest auto repair that would check it out on a Sunday. This guy took the tire off, and sprayed all around the tire to show me where the air bubbles were, meaning the air is escaping. I told him I brought it to Mr. Tire a few weeks ago and they patched it. He sprayed the whole tire and showed me that the tire was absolutely fine, NO PATCH OR PLUG at all!!! MR. TIRE CHARGED ME 50$ FOR NOTHING!!! This nice many sprayed around the rim and showed me that there was air escaping from by the rim where it just needed to be cleaned! He cleaned it up with some Wd50 and sprayed again to show me no more air bubbles(no more air escaping). So, no nail ever and no patch. I am waiting to hear back from the manager of Mr. Tire regarding this matter. Absolutely unacceptable. I am outraged. I will never go here or to any other Mr. Tire again. Gosh, it's been nearly 7 years since I got my tires balanced & rotated, and wheels aligned there on my Hyundai Sonata in Nov or Dec. 2017. I was told that it will take about an hour, and when it took more than that, they apologized to me and were kind enough to not charge me a penny. BEWARE- this shop apparently doesnt work on anything not stock. Went to another Mr. Tire location that told me when I showed up for my appt. that they didn't have the equipment to mount my tires on my wheels because they weren't stock size. They call this location in front of me and speak to the manager, telling him what I needed, he says to bring my car in. I drive over a half hour in traffic to this location just to be told sorry can't help you, we don't have the equipment for that and could damage your wheels even if we tried. One would think the manager and staff would be on the same page and not waste customers time- we are all busy enough as it is. Dropped in here on a Saturday to get my VA Emissions and Safety inspections done. The parking lot was full and they said it would be a 2-3 hour wait. I went ahead and took my chances and waited. Do NOT go here. Go anywhere else. Last month I brought my Escape in for a safety inspection, and they tried telling me that the brake hose was broken and that it would be around $500 to repair. They failed me on the inspection, and I took the car down the road to Westover Service Center where they confirmed that there were no breaks in the hose and passed me on the inspection. This week we had a flat tire and brought in our minivan for 4 new tires (the tires were all old). They charged us twice for the tires and insisted that it only showed one charge on their end and that they'd have to talk to corporate. Fortunately our bank is disputing the second charge for us no problem. Three months ago my sister brought in her car for an oil change, and they messed up the oil pan and took all day to fix it. read more

And yet, another home run delivered by Garrett and Charlie at this location! I cannot express how wonderful the service here was. We are out of state, and had a vehicle that needed work done. We spoke to Garrett twice with our concerns for the car. Both times he listened, repeated back to me what I was asking, asked questions of his own and put me at ease as to how we would be communicating. Charlie went over the car and took pictures to show the need of various repairs, these were sent to me via email to look over. Garrett also phoned me with explanations for each repair needed, and which repair needed to be completed in an ASAP matter. The turnaround time was fast, the service was exceptional. I will return, as well as let others know how well we were treated. With that being said, here's a tip people-I don't care where you go, for any service, car related or not-PLEASE be aware that if you choose to schedule service on a weekend, or a holiday-the service may not be what you expect. Don't use this place for any big repairs you want done. I had dropped my 2004 Honda pilot off here to get the wheel hub and bearing replaced as well as a new tire. They ended up quoting me up for the bearing and hub which was a combined $1200! As well as some other things I didn't need done, I simply told them all I want done is a new tire and alignment, as I was going to get the hub and bearing replaced down the street for way cheaper, once I told them I didn't want the repairs done anymore, they said they couldn't even put on a new tire for me because "it wasn't safe" even after the manager had told me they would! This place doesn't care about you and is only looking for money. read more

After watching a report on Mr. Tire in Arlington by one of the local TV stations. They went in for a "Free" tire repair too. There was another charge they were told about, some sort of shop fee or something. Well once you look up the cost of either a single tire balance or a shop fee, it is the same price as the tire repair. It would appear this may be how they are recouping their cost of the repair. The TV piece was done on WJLA TV by reporter KIMBERLY SUITERS, ABC7 NEWS Wednesday, November 11th 2015 after a personal encounter she had with this location. I made an appointment for a wheel alignment at the arlington VA location on Franklin Rd, for 1 pm, arrived 15 minutes early and told them I was dropping it off, was hoping to pick it up around 3. Staff was nice enough, told me it would take about an hour, and they would call when done. By 4:30, I went back and as I walked up saw my car being driven into the service bay. Three and a half hours and they hadn't even started! I waited in the waiting area, after some time the service technician came out to tell me my car wouldn't fit in their alignment and they couldn't do the service. He recommended I try another Mr. Tire near by which had a different alignment system. I asked him to call the other store and explain I had now waited 4 hours, to see if they could take my car ASAP. The other store refused. So, to summarize, nice guys, thoroughly uncommitted to customer service. Kept me waiting for four hours before figuring out they couldn't do the promised service, their other store wouldn't correct the error. I won't be back. read more

Had a screw in tire tread. Mr Tire said couldn't fix needed a new tire! All tires were only several months old- they quoted over double the price ($600+) for the tire. We declined. Instead took it to discount tire where they said it was completely fixable and didn't need a new one. Mr Tire is not honest- take your business else where! read more

Just had new tires installed. I made the appt online so they could order the tires I wanted. Waited for the work to be done. Installation, alignment, oil change and some free checkups took only an hour. Reasonable price. Also, reasonably comfortable waiting area, clean facilities and free WiFi. My car needed an inspection so I found a near by shop and tried it out. Mr. Tire failed my inspection due to my brakes needing to be replaced (rotors and brake pads) and offered to do it for me. I declined, bought all the parts and replaced them myself to find that the brake pads were not even at the indicator and there was nothing wrong with the rotors. if they recommend any fixes... I would look into it yourself and not give any extra money to them. Poor experience. read more

First, it's a huge location with floor to ceiling windows across the front, next to a new Wendy's and just west of N George Mason Dr in 22207. The waiting area is huge, 3 plush couches you could nap on! I'm hear on a Sunday; Josh is skilled at explaining, showing me with the mechanic where and why my brake problems need attention; and cut the cost a little,(as I NEED IT!) Prior, Mngr Garrett(red hair) also clearly cared that job was done well, so I'd come back yet again! This compares with NTB/Fmrly Merchants that for 5 months said, "I'll take care of you!", never did, so even though it invested more in my P440P441 P446 code problems multiple times, refunded $1120 that I went elsewhere to resolve! I had an appointment for an inspection on Thursday. On Wednesday, the manager calls me and asks if I can postpone until Monday as they are booked solid for Thursday. Fine by me. I show up Monday, give them my name and why I am there. The guy tells me that not only am I not in the system, but the inspector is on vacation this week. So, I motor over to Bob and Edith's and have a great breakfast. Bob and Edith's still great! These guys? Not so much. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews and hate doing so but, I was left with no choice after my most recent oil change. There's absolutely no reason to charge $45 OVER the price of the oil they used. After my husband got home with the car, I looked at the invoice and gave the shop a call to ask why it was more than double what it actually cost. I was told they have a $20 rebate on the oil, however no one in the office bothered to offer that. I then asked if they perform oil changes using oil that a customer brings in for future changes and I was told they don't. Not surprised when you consider they are doubling their money by price gouging their customers. When asked why they charged so much, I was given no explanation and just told "I understand." This was after they tried getting us to pay $130 for a wheel alignment. While the actual service itself is satisfactory, I can not excuse senseless price gouging with no explanation to back it up and left with no choice but to have my car serviced elsewhere in the future. Absolutely awful 1) we went back to re-inspect, and they charged my wife (who rarely deals with this) for a full inspection even though it had a rejection sticker, and their own records would show that they had already inspected. 2) when she went back, they could not refund the money, had to go through "corporate", they admitted that we would probably have to follow up and hound corporate to get our money. I talked to them on the phone when she was there. They offered a free oil change instead of a refund, basically telling me that the refund would be nothing but hassle (and time) for us. I could not get a refund FOR THEIR OWN ERROR! 3) inspected my car and failed for tires when they ABSOLUTELY passed based on Virginia's published specifications (I checked with a depth guage good for another year for sure). It is one thing to recommend tires, or tell me that I will need some soon, but the state standards are not subjective, and these tires should not have failed. I can afford new tires (and bought some elsewhere), but for some people a set of tires is a stretch, and tire shops failing a car that should pass is just wrong 3) Did not document the inspection, no form filled out with pass fail on each item, I have driven in VA for 40 years, never had an inspection this shoddy NO paperwork other than a quote for tires. I asked for their own inspection report, and they said, "sure, but it's blank". NTB next time, have had particularly good experience with the Tyson's location. OH MY GOD! their response to a bad yelp review is to give you a number that then connects you to phone tree h**l. So for those of you reading the review they might look responsive "look at that they are offering help" but when you call, MORE TIME wasted. I am posting this edit so you know the score. Do not mistake their response for an actual concern over their shoddy customer service. Their own store staff told me that I would have to "follow up" to get the refund I am due. The guys here found a serious problem with our car that would require such extensive work they had to suggest we start looking for a new car instead of paying for such an expensive repair. When I came to pick up the car Josh let me know that he did some research and found that there is a class action lawsuit in effect for our car pertaining to this particular problem.
