I had a concern with one of my tires, so after my work training ended, I called the Mr. Tire location in Merrifield to explain the situation and ask whether I should make an appointment or just walk in. The representative I spoke with was incredibly patient and helpful. She answered all my questions and let me know they had a 3:30 PM appointment available--which she kindly reserved for me (just an hour out). I arrived about 30 minutes early and let the front desk staff know there was no need to rush since I was ahead of schedule. Even so, I don't think I was there for more than 45 minutes total! Everyone I interacted with was kind and professional. They even showed me a photo of the damage to my tire and clearly explained the repair process and cost. I had a very disappointing experience at Mr. Tire in Merrifield, VA. I called around 7:00 PM the evening before and scheduled an 8:00 AM appointment for a wheel balance. If there had been an issue with their equipment, the employee who scheduled my appointment could have told me then instead of having me drive there first thing in the morning. When I arrived at 8:00 AM, the manager, Michael, immediately seemed dismissive and told me my appointment wasn't in the system. When I explained I was there for a wheel balance, I was first told their machine couldn't fit my truck. After I explained I only needed the wheels balanced, I was then told the alignment machine was broken--even though an alignment machine isn't used to balance wheels. The explanations kept changing, and it was hard to believe that a machine supposedly "broke" between closing at 7:00 PM and opening at 8:00 AM the next morning. It left me with the impression that they simply didn't want to perform the work and were making excuses instead of being honest. A simple phone call to cancel my appointment or a straightforward explanation would have shown respect for my time. Instead, I wasted a trip and was met with poor customer service and an unprofessional attitude. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this location. read more

Had a nail in my tire. It was around 5pm. Called a number of different tire shops nearby and all of them said they could only take care of it the next day. Called Mr. Tire, Dorr Avenue, and I could bring it right away. They were courteous, helpful and completed the repair in about 30min. while I waited. Next time I need tire work done I will take my car there and ask for C. Hernandez! He even left my car running right by the door so it would be warm when I got in! read more

Paid and left, everything was fine. The next morning, when I started my car the low tire pressure sign came on and I had to call them, when I came they said it's a different tire, and that I have to leave it for another day. I'm not paying another $50 just to get it fixed. I went to a different auto repair shop to fix the other tire and they didn't charge me anything!! And got it don on the same day. I can't say enough about how crummy this shop is. Before you read further, the guy who towed me here said that he tows many, many cars that have been through this shop. I wish I had spoken with this driver years ago before I had invested time and energy into this place. If you don't want to read my personal greviences just take it from the tow guy who said go to anyone else as "they are shit". As for my experiences I have given them multiple chances to redeem themselves, each chance with them falling short. My first experience was when they charged me $800 to change a lock cylinder. I told them this was too much and they said sorry this is the cost and that if I wanted to fight it I'd have to go through corporate. I then had to spend countless hours on their customer service line (note you cannot leave a message, their mailbox is full, so you have to wait until someone answers) before talking with someone. Once I was in contact they said I needed to get a secondary quote that proved the charge was exorbitant from a competitor. I got another quote, and was eventually refunded a $300+ difference about a month later. When I brought it up to the store manager, Victor, he said, "Well that's why we have that policy. I could go anywhere right now and find services and parts for cheaper." So know if you come in here, you are supporting someone who does know there are much better prices around, he is just hoping you don't go to the trouble to check them on their work. The second time I went here, they put an alternator in which ended up being defective 45 days later. Instead of apologizing for this inconvenience, they took it upon themselves to lecture me about how they wish I wasn't there and that this is a loss for them. The next morning when I went to pick up my car, they conveniently left the back window open all night, with my keys in the front seat (not under the mat like they originally told me). The overall lack of care from this shop is honestly hilarious at this point. Third times a charm I guess. These guys are so awesome! They've saved me multiple times this year, and I am forever grateful. I had gotten stuck in Maryland a few months ago with not one, but TWO flat tires. I don't know the area well, so I ended up going to Roll by Goodyear to replace the tires and get an alignment. When I left, I thought my car drove differently, but assumed I was just overthinking it. I took it to Mr. Tire 2 days later and guess what? Turns out they didn't align my car, AT ALL! The gentlemen at Mr. Tire did a proper alignment, and gave me a printout showing the measurements before and after the service. I took this paper back to Roll by Goodyear and was able to get a full refund for their faulty work. During that same appointment, Mr. Tire noticed that my tail light was out, and replaced it free of charge. I had literally just paid someone at Sunoco to replace it a few days prior. Turns out it was never done. What the hell?! Very grateful for the honesty and customer service from Mr. Tire, because obviously other places are just there to take your money. Today I went in to get my tires checked again, because my light was on and I was afraid I had a flat. They graciously took my car in, scanned it, and filled it with air (no punctures or nails - woohoo!) without charging me. Now obviously I'm not trying to say to go there and expect things for free, especially since my problems were probably a lot more minor than most. I got a flat tire Friday night and made an appointment at Mr. Tire to take a look at it and see what they thought Saturday morning May 18,2024. I told Eric Scott what happened, that I had bought the brand new tire 4 months ago and treat my fair like I thought he did last time. I told him I scanned the QR code before I left last time and posted a great review.That's the reason I returned to this location. He said the tire was not able to be fixed and I knew that. There was a large slice in the tire. He had the same tire in stock and the cost would be $211.00 out the door. 4 months ago the tire was 172.53 out the door and I decided to get the Virginia state inspection for 20.00 bringing the cost to 192.53.He mistakenly told me it was only 15.00 more this time around and I'm not saying this to throw Eric under the bus. Just stating facts.I declined the 22.00 road hazard assistance when I bought the tire in January otherwise the tire would be free. I asked if I could get any discount at all for my predicament. 5% off, 2% off, managers discount. Nothing. I then told him I would be buying 2 new tires within the next 2-3 months and he said he could only give discounts on four tires. I look for relationships when I do business with someone. Based on objectivity and fairness. Mr. Tires corporate structure and the intent to make money at all costs regardless of the situation is not what I'm looking for and I quickly decided to take my business elsewhere.The tire was 39.00 more than 4 months ago there was no other alternatives and even if they gave me 5.00 coupon to Subway or .50 off for a valve stem cap I probably would have went ahead and did the work even though it was against my best judgment. Luckily I had a chance encounter 3 days earlier with a tire manager close to my home. I called him and even though he was slammed packed with business he worked me in. He ordered a tire with a well known tire brand with the exact rating of the one being offered by Mr. Tire and the same one I bought in January laccording to simpletire.com and other sites and I paid 167.25 out the door with road hazard protection included. The road hazard at Mr. Tire was 22.00 I believe is what Eric stated. So that 211.00 tire would cost me 233.00 out the door. I saved 66.00 for the tire today and unless the price jumps forty dollars per tire in 2-3months I will buy two more at the same price for a savings of 188.00.I'm not made of money like other people in Virginia and that savings will go a lot towards repaying this unexpected expense. Eric wasn't rude he just flat out told me here is the price, it is the only option available, costs forty dollars more than what you paid 4 months ago and there is no discount or special rate that I can give you for getting another tire 4 months later than the last one. Basically his hands were tied. So if you were the customer in this situation would you buy the exact same rated tire from what some reviews say is a better tire manufacturer for 66.00 less including hazard protection without taking into consideration that I had bought a brand new tire from Mr Tire 4 months ago and even though it was my fault for not getting road hazard protection I felt they could have done something for me or would you pay 233.00 for the same rated tire at Mr Tire. Almost 40.00 more than what you paid four months ago? Eric and the gentleman helping me seemed like decent people that's why i returned but the lack of empathy for my ordeal, not giving me options and increasing the price by 40.00 four months later and whatever corporate policy they seem to be following I quickly decided to end this relationship. I got a same rated tire that better suited my driving habits, a lower price than Mr. Tire. In two months I will buy two more tires from this store save 188.00 and Mr Tire will have lost out on the tire today and the two tires I told him I was buying in 2-3 months. Nothing personal Eric. This past visit I was told that my brakes and rotors needed to be fixed at the tune of 800+ dollars. I started going to Mr. Tire around 3 years ago, and I have not gone to another Auto Service Center ever since. Victor always provides the best service and his honest assessments. Last year, with the intention of spending more money than necessary, I got my regular oil change, but I asked Victor if I can get my car serviced for anything additional. Victor and his staff took a look at my car and informed me that any type of additional service would be a waste of money and advised against it until another mileage milestone was met. Today, I got my oil change, and Victor provided a discount without me inquiring about one. It's not everyday you can find a Mechanic Shop that you can trust, and in Victor I Trust! I made an appointment one week ago to have two tires replaced. The appointment specified which tires were needed. The business confirmed my appointment. When I arrived, they told me they didn't have the tires. Evidently they didn't bother to order them. The person at the front desk, by his own admission, noted that they should've caught this. I came here about 3 months ago. My Dodge charger had a flat tire and decided to replace all 4 anyway. I called Mr tires at about 10am and I spoke to a man to get pricing and details and he was polite and promised to have all 4 tires installed before the end of business. So I had my car towed to the shop, went to work and waited. 7pm came around and I was off work. I called the shop to follow up and they said the car was on the lift. I decided just to walk there since I worked at Xsport Fitness just a block away. I got to the shop in less than 10 minutes after the follow up call, only to see my car in the parking lot still, not on the lift as stated on the phone. Finally, they got the car on the lift only through pressure of my own. It took them nearly 3 hours for them to get the tires installed because there were caps on the lug nuts which only expanded the process. Also the plastic wheel rotator cup which protects the rim when tires are being wrapped on the rim broke so they had to go to another location to get the replacement part, added another 45 mins to the job. I didn't exit the shop until $700 later, at 10pm and no apology in the horrific delay, no discount or anything for the poor service. Never going back again. read more

just an update; several months later i went to do a brake job and replace a front wheel bearing and much to my chagrin i found BOTH tie rods were never tightened down...the nuts were loose. BOTH SIDES! not just one... on top of that both managers still never contacted me back and i also submitted the same review (or complaints) to corporate via their website and it was never addressed. i will be sure never to user Mr tire or their affiliated shops again as well as steer all my friends away. sometimes you get less than quality service and the company makes up for it later but this was all around terrible service from multiple managers and corporate. top that off with damage to brand new items and leaving tie rods loose which could have started a bad wear pattern on some more expensive 33 inch tires and would been dangerous, and possibly fatal if the tie rod had separated at highway speeds and rim came off vehicle. Towing a 4,000 lb trailer on a regular basis would have only expounded that dangers to myself and other drivers present at the time. STEER CLEAR OF MR TIRE (no pun intended) read more

I took my car in for a standard oil change and to have my AC checked out because it was blowing hot. They came back with $800 in recommended repairs, none of which had anything to do with the AC, and that included $80 alone to replace a "stripped" stud. When the mechanic took me back to the car to show me said stud, he couldn't even specify which one was stripped, he just pointed at a tire and said, "one of those." Hmm. Upon closer inspection, it's still a mystery. Another $400 of the charge was my "cracked" radiator. Again, when he showed me the car, there was corrosion I was already aware of, but no sign a of a crack. I'll mention now the car has been serviced regularly by other, more trusted, mechanics, and everything under the hood has been getting excellent marks, including the admittedly corroded radiator. I'm surprised these guys didn't try to tell me my belts needed replacing. As to the AC itself, they refilled the Freon in my AC unit and it began to blow cold. They seemed very disappointed that they couldn't actually find a leak anywhere and that the flush and refill seemed to do the trick, but definitely took the time to warn me about how many more hundreds of dollars I could end up spending. Even if there is a slow or hidden leak, I will NOT be taking my car back to this shop. Whether or not they're competent, I certainly felt like they were trying to gouge me. If you're going to tell me there are things wrong with my car, if you're going to go so far as to take me back into the garage to point these "problems" out to me, make sure they are actually visible! And try not to make your labor charges so noticeably outrageous. So beware - read your estimates carefully and don't make any major repairs without at least getting a second opinion. Or just stay away completely. read more

This place is pitiful. I went Friday at 11:46am to get an oil change on my SUV plus balance and rotate tires. The employee told me that the wait was a few hours because it was busy. He offered to make me an appointment for another day. I agreed and set it for Monday at 7am. The employee made the appointment and I left. I returned on Monday around 645am. I waited until 705am when the manager(Victor) showed up to open the store. He seemed annoyed that I was there that early. He has never heard of the words "Good morning" "May I help you" or any form of customer service behavior. He asked me if my name was Mr Vazquez and I said "yes". He said "we don't have any technician in yet they start to come in around 730pm. I was shocked! Why bother making an appointment for 7am when you don't have any employees until 730am it's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I was so upset. I told victor that I had just worked a 12 hour shift and wanted to get to bed soon. He then said that I should wait around until 730am. As soon as he finished that sentence I was out the door. These people don't know the meaning of customer service. I don't know how this place keeps the lights on. In summary If you have tons of time to waste and love poor customer service this is the place you want to take your car to. Run for the hills!!!! Avoid this place like the plague. read more

In all honesty, it's easier than tire rack and when you buy the tires from them you have more bargaining power. I took my car in because it was pulling to the right pretty hard. I expected the tires needed to be aligned, so when I dropped it off I said it was "pulling to the right, so I'm guessing it needs a tire alignment or something." Apparently they interpreted that as "do a tire alignment and don't check if it still pulls to the right", because all they said when I picked it up and asked what was wrong was that they realigned the tires. I took my Suzuki Kizashi in to get new tires but wanted to make sure the pulsation I was feeling in the drive was really because of the uneven wear on my existing tires. Victor and the tech really did a thorough job of ruling out other issues. They put it on the lift and test drove it a couple times to diagnose the problem. It did turn out to be the tires. They didn't have the tires I wanted in stock, but rotated my tires and reduced the problem I was experiencing significantly, free of charge. Recently had an oil change but have used the place a few times. I also had the battery changed. The work they do is fine and relatively reasonable priced. One thing I liked is that they quoted the correct oil weight for my car. One thing I didn't like is that when they were done, they tried to up my $150 or so charge up to $900 with recommended fixes. I consider that a big warning sign when I go in for basic service and they come back with remarkably higher recommended charges. One, they said my muffler had a hole. I'm not Mr. FixIt but I'm relatively handy... when I got home, I looked real close at the muffler and even used a flashlight the second time and I didn't see any hole at all. By look I mean I got myself under the car... I didn't just look at the back of the muffler. Now, it's possible I just didn't see it but if there is a hole, it's pin-size. Second thing that raised a warning flag is the receipt they gave me only listed a portion of their recommended fixes. That just told me they didn't want me to check with another mechanic on their recommendations. The work they do is fine and fairly quick which is why I gave three stars. But, I'm not sure I'd recommend the place to someone that can just get talked into spending more money because they will (and possibly for things they don't need). read more

I had been going to Mr. Tire for the past year or so to get my tire rotations and oil changes. The good news is that they do it for cheap, especially if you apply for their "Drive Card" (even though they seem to have lots of extra "fees" added to their base oil change price). The problem with this place is that they don't have very good (or friendly) customer service. No big deal about the friendly part...I can get over that if they do good work on my car. However, it's really annoying when they always call me to tell me my car has "issues" I need to address....you NEVER get out of there with just an oil change....they constantly try to upsell you. But the straw that finally broke the camel's back was when I took my car in a couple of months ago to get an oil change and tire rotation. A few days after the service was done, I noticed that the 2 side moldings on the bottom of the driver and passenger side door were coming off in the same spots. I immediately suspected that Mr. Tire did it because my car was in good shape and I would've known if I had caused that myself. However, before blaming Mr. Tire, I took my car to the Nissan dealership to have their collision guys take a look at it. They immediately agreed that it appeared Mr. Tire did it by not lifting the car correctly on their car lift. I then went to the store manager at Mr. Tire, Victor, and told him what happened. He looked at my car and said he highly doubted they did it as they do double checks of their work and their master mechanic actually did my oil change. I told him I was pretty sure they did it and so was the Nissan guy. Victor told me to fax him the repair estimate and that he'd forward it to his boss. After faxing the estimate to Victor, I didn't hear from him for a few days so I called him. He told me he passed it along to his boss and that it was out of his hands at this point. He acted like I was inconveniencing him and he had no further instructions for me...he was very dismissive. I asked him who I needed to speak with now and he said I can call the 800 Mr. Tire number. Again, terrible customer service as Victor was pretty rude. I called Mr. Tire's 800 # and after finding the right person to speak with, I faxed her my estimate directly (because she apparently never received it from Victor or his boss). After speaking with Mr. Tire's customer service division, their insurance company (Traveler's) called me and they sent someone out to look at my car. The insurance company apparently agreed that it was Mr. Tire's fault as the guy said he could see some damage to the undercarriage where the lift is supposed to go and could tell the moldings had not been detached for very long. I just received a check for the damage from Traveler's yesterday. So I'm giving 2 stars because once I got past Victor (who provided absolutely no help), Mr. Tire's national customer service people were very nice to deal with, and they eventually solved my problem. Because of that, I'll probably still go to other Mr. Tires....just not the Merrifield location that Victor manages. read more

I needed a routine oil change, so I contacted Mr. Tire strictly out of convenience. They are close enough that I can walk home if I needed to. I requested an appointment online Thursday afternoon around 2:45, and once I submitted, the site prompted I would receive a call to confirm. That call never came... until Friday morning around 8AM. The manager instructed me to bring the car by around my appointment time, and they will be able to take care of the oil change. My appointment was scheduled for 5:30, but I was able to leave work a little early and I had it to the shop by 4:45. I was told by the front desk that there was one other person in front of me, and he asked if I was going to leave or wait around. I told him I would prefer to have it tonight, so I would head over to a local restaurant and hang out until it was done. He assured me the car would be ready by 7, when they close. By the time 6:45 rolled around, I was getting antsy so I called them, and I was told that the car would not be ready tonight after all. I would have had no issue with this if they would have called me and been straight up, but instead, I wasted 2 hours of my Friday night waiting on a call that probably never would have come if I didn't take the initiative. Fast forward to Saturday morning, I receive a call from them stating that they noticed some issues with my brakes when they were completing the oil change, and I would need to replace my rear brake pads, rotors, and do a brake system flush all for $705.00. And with the oil change, it would come out to around $760.00. I declined and was then put on hold. Once the gentleman was back on the phone, he said the manager offered to give me 20% off, which would bring the total down to roughly $600. Again, I declined, as I have another place I can bring this for a much better price. Once I turned that down, he offered to take care of the brake system flush for free and my total would be near $500 for all of the work. Again, I declined and they FINALLY said they would just complete the oil change and my car would be ready in 30 minutes. The way Mr. Tire conducted their business was very shady and completely turned me off. I will not be back. I would much rather do business with a company who is honest up front and not out to steal people's money. I was quoted a few hundred dollars less (the price Mr. Tire eventually got to, but not before trying to make an extra buck) by another shop for the work that needed to be done. The negotiating for the final price was silly and hopefully they will learn. My recommendation would be to avoid this location at all costs. P.S. They add on a $9.99 service fee to every transaction, which they do not disclose. But they do have coupons online which can usually cancel that out. Beware! read more
