When you walk into the shop you are enveloped in the sweet smell of whatever they are baking. We were encircled in the sweet smell of sugar. You can see the baker's making each cookie and just like wine tasting, you can cookie taste. We had a sample of each and bought the lemon and ginger. I love homemade and this is truly homemade. OMG. I love me some Moravian Cookies. To me they are the best. Some of my favorites are: Sugar Crisp, and Ginger. I like the Chocolate Chip also. In my younger years I toured the factory and that was when I got my first taste of the cookies and from there I have like them since. My father-in-law has had Mrs. Hanes Moravian Cookies for over 10 years now. This year he was set in sharing these treasures with the whole family. We live in Charlotte and he asked for my husband and I to pick up some cookies on our way to visit them in Greenville, NC. I was glad I encouraged him to place the order last week for his 15 bags of cookies. When we arrived we were greeted and told all cookies were sold out. After sharing with them we had an order to pick-up the ladies said joke and said they were glad we had the order to pick-up. Inside the store every was label and marked 6ft apart, extremely clean and had such a lovely cookie baked smelled. Our family will start a tradition to pick some ginger snap cookies every Christmas and probably throughout the year too. So happy to had found this gem. read more

The production is so artistic and skilled, that it feels like buying cookies from a bake sale at your grandmother's church. The Ginger cookies stand up to a 2-3 sec dip in coffee or cocoa and then totally dissolve in your mother. The lemon cookies are my second favorite. read more

This is such a cool place. We picked up a brochure in our hotel, and made this a stop - something to do while killing time until the next BBQ gorging. We got a little personalized tour - watched ladies roll out the dough and cut cookies, all by hand. The dough has to be rolled out very thin, and the cookies are baked for 10 or 11 minutes, resulting in nice, thin, crispy wafers. They mix dough in 500-700 pound increments, and it can be stored as long as a week, depending on the dough. Available in 6 delicious flavors, they have a special place in my heart for having black walnut flavor. Since black walnuts aren't native to this area, nor are they native to Moravia, I don't know where they would have come from, but they are awesome. And probably something most Americans have no taste for. BTW - the chocolate are also really really good. Everyone is super friendly - they pulled someone off the hand production line to show us around on a Tuesday morning, and you can buy their wares in the little lobby area - you probably aren't going to leave without some. read more

During COVID I am not sure how that might work but hands down this is a very interesting place. We get these at the Bradford store in Huntersville North Carolina. We love to support small business, and the cookies are delicious. Unfortunately we noticed there's PALM OIL in the ingredients, which philosophically/ethically our family will not buy or consume, due to the wiping out of species from harvesting of this product. This is a pretty well-known phenomenon and it's easy to avoid palm oil and products, so our wish is that this company shifts or ingredients a bit to reflect the knowledge we have of was healthful for all of us. Why not you use butter instead of "natural butter flavor", and palm oil? Usually the Bradford store carries well vetted community products and hopefully the owners can encourage this company to use better choices also. read more

This must see hidden treasure is located way out in the country in the town of Clemmons NC. You will enjoy the drive there. The cookies are still made by hand and there is a huge viewing window into the factory. Flavors include ginger, lemon, butterscotch, chocolate and some amazing black walnut ones. They are paper thin and literally melty in your mouth. Be sure to ask if any bags of "seconds" are available that day, irregularly shaped or broken cookies at a reduced price. I just got home and found a package on my step sent from my daughter in NJ. I was shocked to see the contents of the package , a trio of Moravian cookies. WOW ! I havent had them since we stayed with friends in Clemmons NC just down the road from the bakery.It's been since 1971maybe 1973 that I had one of these delightful thin crispy cookies. My daughter gave me more than cookies for my birthday ,she gave me some great memories of those wonderful people we stayed with in Clemmons.
