This auto repair shop is very shady and dishonest to do any type of repair on your automobile/vehicle. He over charges on parts and labor and then purposely takes apart your engine during his diagnosis and doesn't put back the parts to disable the vehicle completely so that you cannot make a decision to have the work done elsewhere, and forces you to have to get the work done at his shop. When he performed that initial work to replace the radiator and said he tested it but it was still leaking all over the place and needed to charge me more money to check where the problem is at again. And he didn't want to test it again to show me where the leak problem is at, as it was going to waste more fluids. He just wanted to have me pay him another 8 hours of labor at $95.00 per hour to go into my vehicle's engine again to try to find and fix the problem that he couldn't find the first time. And wanted to charge me again for another diagnosis labor of 8 hours? So he is purposely acting stupid and dumb that he didn't diagnose the problem correctly and there is still a leaking problem so I am suppose to pay him more money to keep looking for the problem before he can fix it?????? Well I declined his bullshit immediately and I demanded and requested that he put my engine parts back that he removed to perform his diagnosis and supposedly to replace my radiator and hoses parts back so that I can have his work performed and parts reviewed and diagnosed by a second opinion at my AAA insurance certified mechanics and auto repair center. And the owner/mechanic got upset with me because I declined to have him further work on my truck/vehicle and declined to pay him more for labor to do another diagnosis and repair labor since I already paid him $800.00 for work and claims it is still leaking! Since he didn't put my parts back. I had to have my truck towed out on a flatbed via AAA and take my parts and put into my bed and took it home and parked for 2 months disabled on the street until the complaint I filed to the state BAR investigation was completed. The state BAR of California mandated the owner and MS Auto Gears to completely do the repair and have my truck running and perform as normal. I incurred a great deal of time, and money resource loss in my life caused by this business's dishonest thoughts and action committed by the owner at MS- Auto Gear. I paid rental car cost of $2500 and the multiple towing service that I had paid with my AAA while my truck was disabled that was never reimbursed for that loss of use. THIS BUSINESS AND THE OWNER NEEDS TO BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS. DON'T GO THERE. YOU'LL NEVER HAVE YOUR VEHICLE REPAIRED IN GOOD CONDITION. I came in to Jeep-MS Auto gears when the transmission in our 2012 Toyota Rav4 was making an awful screeching noise when shifting from 1st to 2nd gears. Manjit & Malkit's shop was the only shop open on a Saturday morning that was willing to look at my car immediately. Every other shop was either closed on a Saturday or closing at 1PM. I have a 1988 Toyota pickup with 155,000 miles that I have owned for 19 years. For 2 years I noticed a bearing noise from the transmission, louder when it was in 5th gear. For 2 years I tried to find a local shop that could rebuild my transmission and knew Toyotas. I did not want to buy a rebuilt or used transmission from a wrecking yard. I wanted my original transmission rebuilt. I found Manjit by chance because he is next door to a Porsche shop that was replacing the clutch on my Boxster. I'm picky about who I let work on my Jeep because I use it for commuting and usually take one or two extreme backcountry trips with it each year. My vehicle is a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V8 AWD has been taken impeccable care of over the past 19 years. At 200,000 miles I needed to overhaul expensive components and upgrade the vehicle, as I wanted to keep it and drive it another 200,000 miles. I interviewed the owners and ASE certified Master mechanics at MS Auto Gears, Manjit and Mel, during my search for the most qualified mechanics to do the major overhaul of my Jeep so it will be as reliable for the next 200,000 miles as it was for the first 200,000. Manjit was trained in Germany as a young man to assemble engines at the Mercedes plant, and he and his son Mel have built the kind of automotive shop that you want to take your vehicle to: Deep technical knowledge of the internals of the complex components and systems such as engines, transmissions, transfer cases and differentials. What I really appreciate is Mel's and Manjit's focus on quality, making sure the job is done right. Certain parts like bearings, gears, sensors, etc have to be replaced with specific brands or they simply won't last. They've taken the time to understand the right parts to buy and how to install them and torque them properly so that their repair work is as good as new. I had a transmission replaced by a well-respected shop in the Bay Area at 150,000 miles but the rebuilt one lasted only 70,000 miles. Here's why. When Mel opened up my transmission, he found after-market parts that had been installed, which failed. This is where MS Auto Gears is better than other shops. Mel explained to me that he would be happy to obtain a factory rebuilt transmission and install it for me if that's what I wanted, but he and Manjit could rebuild it for me in their own shop for a much cheaper price, and ensure every part was high quality, and installed properly. These guys know what they're doing so I chose to have them rebuild the transmission for me in their own shop. I trust their work because they did a complete rebuild of my V8 engine, transfer case, and differentials, and they're perfect. I also decided to put a 2" lift on my Jeep which can cause all sorts of vibration and handling issues that can wreak havoc on differentials and transfer cases, and Mel helped me fine tune the suspension geometry to eliminate the vibrations. For instance, using high quality adjustable control arms on the front and back, and adjusting the rear sway bar were key tweaks that Mel nailed for me. I trust Manjit and Mel more than any other shop in the Bay Area to service my Jeep. After MS Auto Gears rebuilt my engine, stripping it down to bare metal block, and then rebuilding it from scratch, I have four wheeled deep into the desert in 120 degree heat, and gone on an epic 4-wheel adventure deep into Canyonlands in the summer, and the Jeep performed flawlessly. Last winter my Chevy Blazer had heating issues. I went round Santa Clara, Mtn View, Sunnyvale got quotes from high and mighty and the prices was ridiculous. A business in Mtn View actually billed me $80/hr labour excluding diagnosis + parts, ridiculous. I was finally referred to Manjit and I gave him a shot, took my truck in for oil change + the heating issue and guess what Manjit not only had my truck ready in a few hours but also didn't change me for the heating. He found out I only had a clogged heating hose and he was honest enough to unclogged it for free and also fixed my front fenders as icing on the cake. No disrespect to the mechanics but it's hard to find one that won't pick your bone clean at the slightest chance. On the advice of my tech in Santa Cruz, too my truck to Manjit, who just rebuilt the auto tranny in my '01 Toyota 4Runner. Great price, fast service, OEM parts, great result. I like these guys a lot. He's been a transmission / drivetrain guy for 35 years, working all kinds of brands (lots of german-car experience). I'd take my BMW to him if the tranny ever self-destructed too. There's some talk of what he specializes in (Jeeps, Toyotas, Isuzus) -- but this guy is really just a master transmission / TC / differential and transfer case guru. He's seen it all. Don't buy a used tranny. Don't go to the dealer for 2X the cost. Have him tear your failed gearbox down and rebuild it for you for the same price as used and *half* the price of anything the dealer quotes you. Good warranty, straightforward man. I was very impressed with this mechanic. I took my Jeep Wrangler into the dealer and they quoted me $2700+ to replace the rear differential ring & pinion and bearing kit. I found Ms Auto Gear and they charged me $600 for the exact same thing! They were polite and explained everything. It was a pleasure to work with them. As they were fixing my Jeep, they noticed the the clutch disc kit also needed to be replaced. They charged me $90 for the extra part and $0 for extra labor. He said that he was already in the car working on the same parts, so there wouldn't be any extra labor charge!! What mechanic do you know that would actually say this?? I was thrilled. A friend mentioned he needed his 4 X 4 worked on and asked me to follow him to the repair shop. "Left after the dinosaur"? Yep, hard to find, but easy to locate. That was over two years ago. Since then, MS Auto has worked on our family's Expedition, Civic, Buick and Tacoma 4 X 4. The shop is family owned and these gentlemen are expert, talented mechanics. They are honest and kind; they take pride in their work and are completely professional. All charges are discussed upfront and I've never been dissatisfied. Transmissions, A/C, brakes, prior-purchase inspections and oil changes. If I was asked what they do best I'd say Toyota's & transmissions. Worst? Parking. It's a busy, multi business "U" shaped lot and there's not a lot of unassigned spaces. All of my service was done by appointment, so it wasn't a problem. I wish they worked on motorcycles. Best auto repair shop in the bay speciallizing in 4x4 Jeeps and Toyotas. Although, they work on all makes and models. Tuneup prices are very competitive and I like the fact that they use OEM dealer parts. Name another shop that does that. Since they're a gear shop as well, they work on transmissions and rear ends. Most other shops will sublet this work out to another shop leaving the customer with no choice but to trust this "other" shop. MSAG gets this work from dealers where they charge their customers more. You can find cheaper places for oil changes but call MS Auto gears for your next major repair or tune up. They're prices are competitive and they do excellent work. They have low overhead, the appearance of the shop is not about aesthetics, and they're not in the most convenient location but their service and prices is what matters most. I drive down from Yuba City just to have them work on my cars.I started going to MS Auto Gears when they first opened up a few years back. I send everyone that I know who has transmission/clutch issues, to Manjit. He is THE man. When I had my first car, a 2000 Ford Mustang, I purchased a limit slip differential for it but I couldn't find a shop that was able to install it. I searched around Google, around some forums, and the conclusion I came do was this one and another shop, I don't recall the other shop's name however. I decided to give MS Auto Gears a shot because after I had called both shops over the phone, Manjit actually gave me a cheaper average rate. He told me to bring the car in so I said ok. I don't remember the exact conversation we had, as this was well over three years ago, but I brought my mustang in, and it only took a day for them to install. I dropped my car off as soon as they were opened and picked my car up an hour before they closed. It definitely was quicker than I had expected as I thought it would take a few days, seeing as how they were working on numerous cars at the time. Ever since then, with my second car, a 2012 Lexus IS250, I brought it to Manjit without hesitation because him and his son do amazing work, are super quick, and their pricing is unbeatable. I live quite a way from his shop too, as I used to live in Los Gatos so that's about a 20 minute drive from LG. So bottom statement is, if you have a transmission/posi rear end issue, bring it to them. They won't disappoint. Raffi was always so great when I needed things from AutoZone, so helpful and very polite. I trusted his judgement on where to go. We took our 1997 Jeep Cherokee that was having the "Death Wobble" shake, to MS Auto Gears. Our family had spent hundreds & hundreds at another mechanic, trying to fix the problem. Each time, the mechanic was changing this, or that but our jeep was still getting the shake/wobble on the freeway- pretty scary. One trip to MS Auto Gears and our jeep was working fine. We took our 2007 Jeep Commander that had water pump damage, etc, just recently and they did an awesome job.
