I had a very disappointing experience with Marsa, the receptionist at Mt. Helix. I called to confirm my 12:00 PM June 23rd appointment for a termite treatment, but she told me that because I had provided the door code, my appointment had been changed to an "anytime" appointment and could not be changed back. I explained that we no longer live at the property and wanted to be there in person to show the technician exactly where to spray. Instead of trying to help, she repeatedly emphasized that it was my fault because I had given them the door code and insisted there was nothing she could do. I mentioned my boyfriend and I work full-time and couldn't just wait around all day, and asked if the technician could simply call before they arrive so we could meet them there. Her response was that they "might call or might not." I basically was running in circles with her and could not reach any resolution as the entire conversation felt condescending and dismissive, she wasn't interested in helping find a solution. I eventually asked to speak with someone else. Fortunately, Elisia called me back later, clearly explained how the scheduling process works, and was able to resolve everything quickly. ****DISGUSTING ****** We just had our condo fumigated, we left our bathrooms spotless and garbage cans empty to come home to a tagged up, streak marked toilet! One of the workers clearly had to download a brown load, but to throw the evidence of using our wipes.. in the trash can is DISGUSTING!! My poor wife came home to notice these nasty shit wiped wipes of a complete stranger thrown in the trash and a mean brown stripe in the bowl. I cannot say how the fumigation went but the sheer act of dropping a dook, then tossing the evidence in the trash is beyond me. To make this short, on August 27, 2024 through August 30, 2024, our HOA community scheduled a fumigation services from Mount helix pest-control for 3 days when I came home, I found whole coffee beans thrown in my garbage disposal filled all the way to the top. Right away, I knew it was the owners employees that had committed this disgusting act. I tried removing and cleaning the pipes but it was clogged. I had to contact a specialist and they quoted me for $525. I sent the proposal to Stephen (owner) of Mt. helix. I told him to send the check to me and not to the company. He stated I'm not in the business of paying people. Well I'm not in the business of getting my plumbing pipes destroyed. Keep in mind this is all thru email and phone conversation. I told him why didn't your employee throw the coffee beans in the trash he ignored and started to blame me for the coffee beans. Talk about a grown man not taking ownership and accountability. He didn't want to pay me the full amount and was trying to low ball me with a agreement to sign. To add some more insight, I had introduce myself as a homeowner and 1 of the board members of the community. He also stated to me he would cancel any ongoing business. He was positioning himself with retaliation in-directly towards the community. I did not find this termite company via Yelp, but it was the termite company hired by an HOA company for a condo I own. The termite company left small granules -- sand - like -- dust or wood all over my flooring when they went to the attic area in order to exterminate some of the termites. When they had to go through my balcony and treat the roof from the outside, I specifically told them to keep at least the screen doors closed. But the webcams in the condo (nobody was there to supervise them) said differently: When I saw the doors opened, I called the company to have the workers close them. The girl reassured her she would communicate that to the workers at the condo. However, the door remained open the rest of the day as noted by my webcam. I do not recommend using this company for your pest control needs. read more

We requested that Mt. Helix come to spray our apartment for spiders, which have taken over our indoor and outdoor spaces during the hot summer months. The Mt. Helix professional sent to our apartment was very knowledgeable, patient, and happy to answer all questions that we had. He also provided some suggestions on how to reduce spiders in our palm trees (will be falling the gardener next!). While it's too soon to tell if the treatment was effective, we appreciate the service and are hopeful about the results! read more

This company contracts out the termite fumigation to another company and refuses to take responsibility when the fumigation company gets things wrong. None of the emergency numbers worked outside of both companies office hours, which put me in an uncomfortable position on a Friday night. The owner, Steve, and an assistant, kept pointing the finger elsewhere, including back at me. If you use this company, insist on real emergency contact numbers that someone will pick up after hours. be prepared to work out THEIR problem for them. read more

Our HOA contracts with Mt. Helix for the pest control needs of our complex. In the past we have had a decent experience with them - they tented our building and have done basic pest control. About two months ago I called to have them come take care of the spiders that were overrunning our townhome! They recommended fogging instead of spraying. I scheduled an appointment and their tech came out about a week later to do the fogging. I was told that I would only have to be out about 2 hours and that when I came back there should only be a faint smell and no clean up. I re-entered the house about 3 hours after the fogging and there was a stench of chemical smell in the air and a film all over everything! The carpet, tile, counters, furniture... It was horrible to clean up! Later that night we noticed that the film on the wood furniture was not coming off and that it had ruined the finish. I called the owner of Mt. Helix the next day and he gave me a really hard time and a big run around. Eventually they came out and looked at the furniture (amazing how nice he was when he realized my husband was home) and took responsibility and offered to pay to have it fixed. The thing that REALLY bothered me was that after describing the film and stench they realized that their employee had used the wrong chemical to fog the house...even once they realized this there was no apology made to us! Who knows how dangerous this could have been to us or our animals! Fortunately our furniture has been fixed, but I will never, ever use this company again! read more

I was nervous about free,but when he (I think Steve) arrived, on time, and took time to explain everything and answered all my question clearly, I was impressed. he said ours wasn't a very bad problem. He had a hand drawn diagram with problem areas pointed out and options/ recommendations. He explained he would clean up the diagram and sent me a formal estimate. As a homeowner and board member of a large HOA I have received very good service from this organization. Our HOA has brought them in many times for Bee removal from our structures and yesterday, brought them in to remove a very active nest that had started in our Pepper tree. One call to Audrey Grun, Office Manager in the AM brought immediate response for same day service. By 3PM we had the very capable service professional John to our house to uninvited the migrating Bees. Although the Bees were not to happy, I was very happy. The Bees were gone by sundown surfing the waves and looking for some other place. Look I'm a board member for a large condominium complex downtown. We contract with Mt. Helix to do regular treatments and spot treat for termites. They seem to do the job ok at a reasonable cost. But I have to take off a star because the only option they offer for treating termites is tenting! That's right you have to move out, board your pets, move your aquariums all for something that temporarily treats the problem. If your looking for a more natural approach to termites that doesn't involve chemicals that are bad for the environment and doesn't involve moving you out I would look at Xtermite. Don't get me wrong John is a good guy and has tons of experience but as the old saying goes if the only tool you have is a hammer everything starts looking like a nail. I'm going to recommend to my board, and use for my own personal property in El Cajon Xtermite just because its natural and doesn't involve moving out. So in summary Mt. Helix is good for conventional use of poison chemicals, if you want something else, look else where. read more

They showed up 45 minutes AFTER their already very generous 4 hour window scheduling time. After that, they call me saying the treatment was approved. 25 minutes before the appointment they call me saying the appointment was for an inspection and not a treatment, which they (the manager of the office) blamed on the HOA Manager. I contacted the HOA manager and they confirm they did not make a mistake, it was on the company -- MT HELIX pest & termite control. Summary - they will be late if you're lucky, and if you're not lucky, they'll call you 25 minutes before your appointment and tell you it's somebody else fault for why they can't make it to your appointment! They're a cut rate pest control company, I will work to get them replaced at this HOA and the one I am a board member for. read more

One visit solved the problem for the next two years. I don't know what they use, I am sure it is very toxic. If I could give a rating of "0" stars I would. We purchased a home in Point Loma in April of 2012. At the time, the sellers termite report stated, "There is evidence of dry wood termite damage noted at the roof eaves. Replace or reinforce all damaged wood members as necessary." Well, four years later and our house is full of termites, and needs to be tented. We have to replace two French doors which will cost around $2000.00 each, door from the kitchen to outside has to be replaced, and, yes, eaves, on all sides of the house. I could go on, but I think I have said enough. According to three new termite companies, there is no way this damage was not evident in 2012. Please beware. When you purchase a house, ask your agent to write into the contact that you, the buyer, select the termite company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

Mt. Helix has the contract with our HOA to do pest spray in common spaces. We were referred to them when we saw a roach in our drain. They gave us some home remedies over the phone that worked like a charm. They also agreed to schedule a visit to our unit on the HOA contact so we wouldn't be charged. We didn't end up really needing the visit since their tips worked so well, but their technician Rene Vivanco still took the time to take a look and give us more great advise. I would highly recommend Mt. Helix Pest & Termite Control to any of my family members and friends. The exterminators (Agustin and Richard), who came out, carefully inspected my home. More importantly, they acknowledged and understood my concerns. This was very important to me, since the wasps were coming into my home and I am allergic to them. They were patient, informative and ultimately, took care of my wasps problem. In fact, as soon as Richard walked into my backyard, he looked up and immediately spotted a wasp nest - a nest that wasn't visible to my eyes. He eradicated the wasp nest, and even took it one step further by checking out other tile areas (on the roof) to look for other wasps nests. He found 5. He killed the wasps; removed the nests; and sprayed other areas to prevent the wasps from returning. Throughout this ordeal, both exterminators also provided great advice. My HOA has a contract with Mt. Helix, and so they are the company I used to fumigate for termites. Fallon was friendly and answered my questions in a timely manner. The fumigation crew showed up on time and the fumigation was complete and the tent removed before the time they estimated. I give Mt Helix 3 stars because the fumigation crew moved several items in my yard and did not bother to put them back. There was a wood board separating an area of rocks and dirt that they took out and left. They used my hose and did not bother to re-coil it. There were clumps of dirt on one of my rugs inside the house. They pulled up half of a rubber partition at the base of my fence and left it hanging there. They stepped on a patch of brand new grass when there was ample dirt surrounding it that they could have trod on. All of these things are small, I know, but I would have appreciated someone walking me through what would be moved before I left the premises. Instead of a friendly "Hi, here's what we are going to do today," I was alerted that they arrived when one of the crew members began removing a top piece of my fence; they didn't even bother to knock on the door to let me know they were getting started. Next time, I will be sure to ask more questions, but I appreciate a company that talks its customers through the process of a service, which did not happen. I feel like the fumigation crew lacked respect for my property. I understand that not all of this can be blamed on Mt Helix since they outsource the fumigation to San Diego Fume Works; however, it is still a reflection of the former. read more
