We went on a Tuesday and got there around noon or so. It was pretty empty and got in like a breeze. If you're looking for a lesson- sign in on one of the computers and walk towards the computers with helmets hanging. $79 to rent gear and get a 2 hr lesson. You have to show up an hour before the class actually starts and I believe there's only one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Customer service during this whole service was meh- the guy at the register seemed very disorganized and there was no urgency whatsoever. He was only one working this station at the time so it took awhile so if they forget to give you a helmet- you have to walk back and basically interrupt him while he's helping someone else to ask for a helmet. As for the people that were renting out the boots were busy talking amongst themselves. Don't get me wrong, they were nice but I felt like I was interrupting them to ask them for help. They helped my bf get his gear on but I was on my own. Other than getting away from this stage of the game- everything from there on out was fabulous and I'm gonna base it on that experience vs the service inside. Adam- snowboard teacher was awesome!! Had lots of patience and a positive attitude! He made you feel you were the best newbie snowboarder EVER. He'll correct and give you pointers as you try to do down the hill. At the end, he asked if he could take a picture with us because it was his first class he taught! AWwwWw! Don't hang on to the chairlift when getting off because it doesn't stop! It was my first time doing any of this EVER, so of course, I was scared shitless when it came to the chairlift and bunny lifts. My BF was kind enough to try and help me with no success because I managed to fall and follow the chairlift around. It was so bad, they had to stop the chairs while everyone was in line watching me try and get up. They thought I hit my head on one of the metal rods but it was just my helmet falling off and hitting it instead. My BF Talked me into going up the ski lift again after getting down the hill- I did better the second time around but still managed to fall on my ass. The attendant notice and came out and said this time was better! Hahha I'd be open to trying skiing next time just so I can compare the two. read more

The lodge is nice and more modern looking then Timberline and Bachelor. There are a lot of different lifts and runs in the area. The day I was there it was rather warm out (for a ski lodge) and the outside decks were busy. It was great out there. There was live music and great views (I was brought along and didn't ski). I did enjoy watching all the skiers though. The lodge has good wi-fi though, several places to eat (and drink). The whole place had a great energy and every one seemed to be having a good time. read more

Sooooooo windy! If you hit this mountain make sure you are well equipped with some goggles, otherwise you will never make it down a run without having to stop umpteen times to wipe your eyes. Powder powder everywhere! A big mountain with over 80 runs and all kinds of different terrain, from the easy to the double black diamonds. The drive up is amazing (go S-L-O-W please! very icy) and the price is decent (50 bucks-ish) Although pretty narrow at times, they are well marked trails with easy to see signage. The main lodge offers a good variety of food choices. A cute boutique on the bottom floor offers all the needed amenities in case you came ill -prepped (like my-used-to-mammoth-with-no-snow-storms-like-this-self) Wish I could've stayed longer, it really is one of the best I have been on yet -- oh, and I wish I had a good pair of goggles, probably would've made life a lot easier..... read more

While I have gone to Meadows over the past two years, I've grown to love their plot of land. What I don't love is how human infested it is due to overselling ski passes. Today, for example, the main lot is already full and has been since 8:30am, a half hour before it even opens. After hours of driving, if the lots are full upon arrival, you can either wait more hours in a car line with no bathroom or turn back around and go home. To top it off, the meadows lot workers have often been negative. It can be over an hour to get a seat at the bar/restaurant. The cafe coffee is horrid and many of the cafeteria food options are never open (taco shop). Waiting in line to get on the lift can be overwhelmingly long. I really do love so much about meadows. I think they could change easily and improve the experience of pass holders. They just need to stop overselling passes. read more

Meadows is by far the most variable and progressive terrain in Oregon, in my opinion. It has something to offer for everyone from (now) cutting edge and innovative parks to some epic sidecountry and steep inbounds terrain as well as beginner slopes and parks. Meadows is like the Squaw of Oregon this place will turn you into a shredder forsure. From a guest's perspective it is a little bit on the pricier side. A day ticket will run you about $79-$100. Their food is very good and has a variety of places to eat but again it's also leaning into expensive side. If you plan on shredding more than 1.5 total week I would definitely get a season's pass. The pass also gets you access to a good amount of days on Mt Baker in Washington (which is another siiiick place btw). My word of advice, have everything planned at least 3-4 days ahead of time, do not forget anything. You can buy passes, reserve rentals, do all that Willy nilly Online.. on their website. That will save you a lot of time so you can get out on the mountain faster no BS! Lines can get long here as it's an extremely popular resort in Oregon). If you plan ahead of time, Or simply visit on a midweek day you will have a good time. read more

We loved Meadows. It has been a warm winter this season so the drive up was very easy (road conditions were good). Also, maybe due to the warm weather, it wasn't super crazy busy. Rental lines are organized and well run. You fill out your form on the computer including your name, birth date and other info then print your form and sign. Take your form to the next area to pay (for the rental and lift tickets), next stop is for shoes and next for skis or snowboards. All of the info is recorded on your sheet so if you come back to the next day, they know what gear to give you. Likewise, return is easy and since everything is recorded, there isn't really the need to "check back in", you just return the equipment and they take care of the rest. Food in the lodge is decently good - a nice assortment too. Their homemade soup was better than expected as was their homemade cookies. What really stood out at Mt. Hood Meadows was the ski lessons for my kids. The instructors (Jay and Rocky) were fabulous! Both were very patient and great with the kids. They made a first time experience very memorable and enjoyable for my kids. The full day lift ticket was pricey for an adult, but I'm not sure that is any different than any other ski resort. read more

This resort is meh at best. Runs are short, lines are long and unfortunately now lift tickets have become unaffordable. Be prepared for the mountain to be crowded followed by the likely occurence of a couple main lifts being shut down to further exacerbate the crowding issue. Every other Christmas, a visit to Portland would not be the same without a side trip to the beautiful Mount Hood area. Mount Hood ski resort is my favorite place to ski for the less experienced to more experienced skier. The slopes are well-marked and maintained and prices are very reasonable. It's not really a destination, but if you are in the area, it is as good as it gets. Many lucky Portlanders come here to ski for the day. What I love about this resort is how happy and welcoming the staff are. I always feel happy when I'm here. You are greeted by every staff member you see, wishing you a fun time. If you are waiting in line for too long, there is always compensation in the form of freshly baked cookies or vouchers for free drinks. There are a few good dining options, from cafeteria to sit-down, full service options. The ski school is my favorite part of this ski resort. All day school drop-off for very reasonable prices and the kids love all the instructors. My only wish would be that the kids can have the same instructor if they choose multiple days. I guess that would be a logistical nightmare. The instructors appear to enjoy the kids and their job. Tips: - buy everything online for a 10% discount -drop the kids off before 9AM or it gets really crowded and wait times are long -the rental process is tedious, but the return is very easy Now the bad: -AT&T subscribers get no phone data -The wifi is very weak and during my trip, I was only able to access it in a couple of areas. - The drop off location is horrible. You can't drop off at the entrance, but rather meters away where there is a elongated mound of snow (or ice if it's warm). This is extremely dangerous when you are carrying a bunch of ski equipment. They didn't not clearly have it stated on the website that we had to reserve rentals 48hours in advance. This was not advertised when I went to purchase tickets which I was able to purchase day off online. When we arrived for the night skiing we had to wait an hour in the car because they closed the road to the main parking lot and wanted us to park very far and take a shuttle. Given the covid situation we had absolutely no desire to be packed into a small enclosed space with lots of people. We drove over an hour and waited for ages just for them to tell us we can't rent any equipment. The 48hr policy makes absolutely no sense, how are you willing to pack people into cramped enclosed busses but not willing to rent equipment that could easily be sanitized. By the time we left it was too late to go anywhere else and we didn't get a chance to ski at all that day at all. read more

We went here in February for my birthday present. I hadn't been skiing in years! There is definitely some great skiing on these slopes. We didn't go on any of the advanced runs because my husband is still a beginner skier but even sticking with the easier slopes we had a blast. Some of the chairlifts were closed, and they opened one for what felt like only an hour. May have been because of wind? But it was strange that a couple were closed on a Saturday with nice weather. The lines were not bad at all compared to some of the resorts I've been to. The views are wonderful and keep you entertained outside of sporting. Being near the top of Mt. Hood you get some wonderful views of the peak of the mountain. Parking was pretty terrible and we had to park pretty far from the chairlifts. They do have a shuttle, but when we were forced to stand in the van with our skies and poles and the driving going faster than I was comfortable with (seeing how a service car had already flipped earlier that day), I was not too keen to have to take it. Getting back to the car was much faster and easier. Overall, I would recommend coming here as a beginner and/or medium level skier. I can't speak for the more advances parts of the hill though. read more

This has always been my favorite ski resort in the area. I've never had a problem with parking or with any of the staff. Kids ski school is great, my kids loved it. Probably the best deal they have is the night ski. Night ski hours are from 3-9, and if you go later in the ski season you will have daylight until around 8:00pm or later. Best resort in Portland vs the other two options. However Lifts are short, and there's too many damn flat spots. Plus to do the same run sometimes requires you to take two lifts. It's laid out poorly overall. It's not called short and steep for nothing. The people, everyone from the lifties to ski patrol, to bartenders and servers, to shop workers are as nice as nice can get. Ticket prices are on the high side for what you get. It isn't Utah or Colorado type big mountain skiing. Their black runs are barely black vs other mountains. The other negative is the amount of people on peak days. The slopes get dangerous and it's not rare to see people at the bar who have been injured due to colliding with someone else. That and they need to remind people not to sit in the middle of the slopes. It's not a big hill with snow so you can sit there and chat with your buddies. I came out for my second time ever skiing. There was a fair amount of traffic but we still got parking in the main lot. Inside the staff was doing a great job on only their second weekend of the season. I hung out on Meadows' bunny hill all morning. They have a moving sidewalk that takes you up to the top of a small hill. The attendant, Matthew, was super encouraging as I learned through practice how to get on the "ballroom carpet" without falling. I super appreciated how kind, patient, and encouraging Matthew was each time I got back on. Overall, a great experience! read more

This is the best place for a beer while skiing on the mountain. When the sun is out, the outdoor seating and music really makes it so you don't want to leave. The staff works their tail off and somehow keeps everyone in a festive mood, even on days when it rains. The only downfall is the building needs to be bigger and needs a bathroom, but that's all political with the US Forest Service. We have a family that lives in Portland and a friend that works at the ski shop and i was impressed with the size of the mountain, number of quality runs and the overall friendliness of everyone. I do agree with Jay S on One note, it is hard to get to some good runs, the cat walks are slow and then transition up hill!! A huge issue if your boarding. Other than that we went during the week so we avoided all the huge crowds. And even though the lifts seemed busy, everyone disappears when you get on the mountain. Mt Hood features so many natural features to play with it was great, really nice wood skiing and some natural "half pipe" like runs that even novice riders can enjoy. Lacking: the lodge. No fire place and it was hard to find a seat at the bar :( Parking was free when we visited and the bathrooms were great! full dryers, glove dryers, lots of room and changing areas. We had lots and lots of powder during our visit but Mt Hood rarely grooms any runs so come prepared, and enjoy read more

Great snow resort, good terrain for both skiers and snowboarders. The mountain is a little small compared to the huge resorts, you can cover pretty much most of the mountain before lunch, so as long as you can get comfortable and find a few runs/chairs you like and don't have a problem hitting that all day long, then this spot is a pretty chill little place to get your practice in. PRO TIP: buy you tickets online (if you have a card to refill), and you'll save a lot of money, even on same day passes. read more

This a decent ski area whose owners are, unfortunately, in it just for the money. Oregon winter conditions can vary. While other resorts cope with this by installing snowmaking machines, Meadows merely asks its customers to pray for snow. I've only seen one snowmaking machine on Meadows, and even that is not operated most days. On the few weekends when there is snow, Meadows closes down areas for school competitions, so lot only can pass holders not ski available terrain, but they have to deal with the additional crowds of kids and parents waiting for the few available lifts. While most ski resorts have expensive food, Meadows is expensive AND terrible. Add to that a long wait time for a table and a long wait time for the food to come out. To give an example, I ordered a burrito, which is a new menu item, and I believe $16. It took 40 minutes to come out. The drinks for my table took 20 minutes to arrive. And the burrito was just meat and cabbage. There was supposed to be some guac thrown in, but I didn't taste any. No salsa was offered for the burrito or the handful of chips on the side. In all, this has got to be one of the dummies and least-comfortable lodges I've ever been in. There aren't even water cups available in the cafeteria! Want to ski a groomed run? Good luck. There must be a gas shortage, because I hardly ever see snowcat-groomed runs on this mountain. How do other resorts manage to keep their runs groomed? Even the Pandora Radio that's played by the lift lines has commercials...Meadows can't afford the $10 to get commercial-free music. Meadows charges a lot of money for a season pass, almost as much as the Colorado local pass (which includes several world-class resorts). Perhaps it's bad management, but more likely it's simply that the money goes toward making the owners rich rather than into improving the mountain for local residents. read more

Can we stop pretending that meadows does anything to improve there resort for season pass holders. No big competitions or sponsor even bother hosting events. Why cause they have been to Colorado and other resorts that know how to have fun. No concerts, no snow guns, let the old lodge on the right rot and build Sahale lodge which is fast food with the slowest bartenders. It's a tailgating resort where the parking lot is cooler than the lodge! Can't even add RV hookups or take there transport cat maybe up the mountain and drop people off in different zones. When you get evacuated off the lift they lie to you about how they will give you food and lift tickets and you have to fight for the free stuff they promise. So sad the people who run meadows they have no vision. read more

I witnessed a cook holding raw beef in one hand while preparing cheeseburger buns, lettuce, and tomato in the other without gloves and at no point washing her hands. The manager said this was unacceptable, but he waited for a break to speak with his staff. The situation warranted more than the manager's semi-serious response. The training shouldn't have been be delayed until a break in service. Food-born illness is a serious issue, especially with ground meats, and customers appeared to be actively receiving cross-contaminated food. I talked with the county health inspector. He didn't seem to be surprised. He knew it was a problem and was sympathetic to Meadows's problems. I would think twice about eating the Schuss grill on a busy day. read more

Let me preface this review by saying the first and only time I've ever stood atop a mountain with a board strapped to my feet, possibly facing peril, was in Vermont at a wimpy elevation of 1,800 ft. Like any first time this can be awkward, so for once I was lucky to be faced with something small. Here at Meadows ski resort Mt. hood is clearly not trying to make up for anything, its size commands intimidation. So what can this ex-Floridian who learned the thrill of snowboarding upon this monster possibly say that's negative? I suppose if you're a seasoned skier you may have higher expectations but Meadows provided this novice an F-ing blast! There are 12 total lifts but unfortunately I have never been when all were open. Maybe it's because I mostly go on weekdays but I don't think they should limit availability to one or two lifts. I'm deducting a star for this because they seem to operate solely on volume rather than safety or weather conditions. Perhaps I would be more sympathetic if I saw their power bill. Most of the runs are long and well groomed between days but I do wish they were marked more clearly. The more time to judge your line the better, especially when you're still learning because speed and steering aren't always in your favor. On more than one occasion I almost took a black diamond which would have shown off my crash and burn abilities! They also offer night skiing and if you're looking to elevate your freestyle experience they have several park courses and a super pipe. All the staff members I have met were personable and friendly, whether on the slopes, in the shops or at the restaurants. Ok, yes the restaurants are expensive and the quality could be better but come on, you're locked down in snow gear. Are you really going to change and drive down the mountain for something cheaper? I say put up and shut up, we all pay for convenience, it comes with the territory. Besides they offer a compromise, allowing you to bring your own food and even beer to drink on the patio outside. Bonus! However if you do arrive sans beer they have a decent tap list, two that rotate and usually something tasty from Dbl Mountain to offer. I guess the only things I could hope for are superficial like skimpier uniforms for the patrol women or toss em out all together in place of bikinis for Spring season. I doubt I'll ever get that little piece of FL here in the NW but I'm fine with trading my childhood roller coasters for all of the great natural thrill rides like Mt. If you have celiac disease or have a gluten sensitivity it is not safe to eat at Mount Hood Meadows​. Even worse, the staff there is not properly trained on food allergies. Yesterday I ordered Deviled Eggs at the Alpenstube Restaurant. They were marked gluten free on the menu and when I ordered them I specifically requested that they be gluten free. They arrived and had what looked to be a hazelnut crumble on top, which is what the menu said. I began to eat and then realized that there were bread crumbs mixed in with the hazelnuts. Because gluten makes me very sick (migraines, neck pain, panic attacks, anxiety, fatigue, and digestive problems) I was very worried. I asked my waiter to check with the chef to make sure the dish was gluten free. The waiter returned saying, yes they are gluten free and walked away. I was still worried. I asked a second waiter to check with the chef. She took my plate from the table, came back and said "Yes, they are gluten free. You are all good." Everyone at my table agreed there was bread on the plate. I asked the waiter again to check with the chef. THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME not counting the original order and the fact it was marked gluten free on the menu. Finally, he admitted there was bread on the dish. I am furious that a restaurant could be so careless and cavalier about food allergies. The food and beverage manager left us waiting for a half hour before speaking to us. The general manager has not returned our calls. This was handled atrociously. Were the waitstaff too lazy to to go and ask the chef? Or worse did they realize they made a mistake and try to deny it to cover it up and think I wouldn't notice? This is a very serious matter and I'm deeply disappointed. The way that Meadows is following COVID guidelines is extremely inconsistent. I've gone up a few times this year, and each time there seems to be an issue with masks. This time up was probably the worst. I had to park in overflow and take the bus up to the lodge and mostly everyone on the bus wore their masks improperly or didn't even wear one at all. The bus driver didn't say anything to them which was pretty alarming. If people don't wear masks, they should be refused to ski or snowboard. At the end of my trip I wanted to get by the fireplace in the Sahale bar to warm my feet up because they were frozen, and was asked to leave the lodge. If I'm wearing a mask, I don't see what the issue is. It's also extremely hypocritical to allow people to not wear masks on a small bus packed with people but then ask people who are wearing masks to leave the lodge because they're staying too long. I understand that people shouldn't be staying in the lodge for long amounts of time, but I was in quite a bit of pain and needed to warm up quickly. Meadows needs to be more consistent with the guidelines. I have a few issues with the price of food, the limited lifts, and the overall lack of grooming on the runs, but the hypocritical COVID restrictions top the rest. Timberline is way better in my opinion. read more

Mt Hood Meadows has long been the resort that the locals love to hate - yet ironically is always packed on weekends and holidays. Hood Meadows tends to be more sheltered from the wind than the other resorts on Mt Hood. Timberline, although well run, has almost no advanced terrain and Ski Bowl, while having some of the best expert terrain on Mt. Hood, sits almost 2,000 feet lower in elevation. To their credit, the new management has recently made great strides in opening up new expert terrain and improving their restaurant. They even have a new Howitzer for avalanche control. Meadows also offers the freestyle rider a few different parks and a superpipe. Mt. Hood in general has a relatively shallow slope therefore there isn't a lot of advanced terrain on the marked trails. The exception to this is the large Heather Canyon area which can be absolutely fantastic when the conditions are right. Unfortunately, if you want to ride Heather Canyon a second time, you have to take two lifts to get back to lower Heather, and three lifts (with lengthy traverses) to get back up to upper Heather. By far, the largest complaint about Meadows is the sheer volume of people that show up during the weekends and holidays. Meadows will fill up all three parking lots with cars, then let additional cars park all along the access roads that go back to the highway. If winds are blowing at 25 mph or higher, you might as well not bother showing up on one of these days because Vista and Cascade won't be running; the remaining three quad lifts will have 20+ minute waits and you'll end up spending half your day standing in line. Hood does get a good amount of snow each year. The snow quality varies from champagne powder to the infamous high-moisture "Cascade concrete." My personal recommendation for those planning a Pacific Northwest ski trip is to skip Mt. Hood entirely and go to Mt Bachelor, Crystal Mountain or Whistler instead. There are plans in the works to expand this ski area and join it up with Timberline, but Meadows has been fighting the USFS for years to obtain permits and land rights. Until they do this, Meadows will never be a destination ski resort (mainly because of the lift layout). Hood Meadows is one of those resorts that an accomplished rider visiting for the first time might think is boring. However, local knowledge goes a long way on this hill - there are many hidden runs, glades and powder stashes. Good luck finding out about them on an online review though - locals don't give up those kind of secrets easily. read more

The biggest problem is a PDX customer base who ski/board 5 times a year and expect to have their ass kissed at every turn. And cry when it is not. I am writing this review mid-way in to a VERY low tide season. That being said. What the MHM grooming crew has done to make this place skiable is something to be proud of. With the lack of snowmaking, they have thought outside the box, and hauled snow around the mountain to get trails open. Some of the preferable terrain is of course not open. But I am happy for what we have. MHM and other ski areas in the NW are not resorts. They are set up to ski, and have a warm place for you to eat some lunch. So they base lodge is small, and has minimal amenities, but I think they make good use of their space. But if you are looking for a Vail type experience, then go to Vail. This is the NW. The groomed terrain at MHM is relatively tame. Where it shines is off the trail. It may take a little bit of work to get in the special spots, but that is where MHM shines. if arrive early on a powder day, and work ahead of the crowds, and in the tree's, then you will be rewarded with some great skiing. Show up late, and you may be complaining. The main areas ski out pretty fast on a pow day. Honestly, mid-week storm skiing is the real ticket. Parking could be an issue. But if you get up at a decent time. Skip stopping for breakfast, and arrive BEFORE 9, then you should be fine with close in parking at either main lot or HRM. I am on my 5th year being a MHM season pass holder. The price being pretty damn good for what is generally a 6 month ski season. If you can't be bothered buying a season pass. The spring pass in the neighborhood of 130 dollars is a tremendous bargain. It usually is valid March 1. Some of the best storms usually hit in March/April. And then may can be some gorgeous spring skiing. Meadows will stay open as long as the crowds keep up. Another thing is that night skiing during a storm can be one of the most sublime experiences. I have lapped deep pow for hours with tracks being filled in, and no crowds. If you can definitely try it. read more

If I lived in Portland, I'd be a much better snowboarder. Having a mountain to ride on just an hour out of town beats the hell out of the four-hour trek from San Francisco to Tahoe. It's incomparable, really. This is also an excuse for why I ate it so many times at Mt. Hood. I ate it. A lot. I'm not sure how good this mountain is for people who fit in that awkward beginner-intermediate category. A lot of the runs were a little to narrow and steep for my tastes, and a few runs had an annoying dip between where you got off the ski lift and the beginning of the run. On skis that's not such a big deal. On a board, that's a pain in the ass. Despite all my bitching, I still had a good time. Made it down a few runs. And found my helmet to be one of my best investments ever. And for my friends who live in Portland, who can easily make one-day trips whenever they feel like it, I can see how this resort was great for them. As for me, nursing my aches, bruises and pains, I was at least thankful that the ride back home was only an hour. Not so thankful about $70 lift tickets, though. ***Edit*** The company has reached out and resolved the dispute. Thank you! Im giving one star back for following through. I love the mountain, the bars, food, and people at this mountain. My BIGGEST complaint is Outer Limits Sports. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM, if you do use cash. I Bought a pair of earbuds, my card was scanned once it's a credit card so no pin is needed. The person who checked me out asked if I wanted to put points on my season pass I said yes but I don't have it yet, asked if I could bring it back later to get the points. He said yes. But I didn't realize that meant I had to wait to get the buds. So, I said no I'll just take it now. He said okay I'll have to run your card again because I cancelled the last transaction. He then double charged me for the same earbuds. I said hey you double charged me here is the transaction on my credit card app. He said it takes up to two weeks to show if both went through, the first swipe should go away. Two weeks later I called because both charges were now posted. Left a voicemail. Nothing. I was going up to the mountain to board that weekend so I decided to go in show the double charge and dispute it again. They said, oh hmm that's never happened before. Your going to have to dispute it with the cc company...so not only have you wasted my time but now I have to waste more time calling my credit card company to dispute the charge with them. The right thing to do would have been to put that 39.95 charge back on my card, or at least offer me a store credit at that price. Guaranteed, I would have bought another thing that price had it been taken care of then and there. Instead, I will never buy from there again and ensure my friends don't either but also I have to waste more time writing this review on every platform because I don't want another customer to have to deal with this as well. My review is strictly for the pro-shop at the Lodge. I took my son in to look at purchasing a new snowboard and the employees (all of them!!) were very slow, glassy eyed and in no real hurry to answer our questions or sell us anything. After finally getting one of them to get us a demo snowboard, the guy who needed to install the bindings was just not present mentally. He asked us the same questions many times before getting the bindings installed (took over 25 miutes) and then we had to wait to pay for the demo fee. We were in the pro shop for more than and hour and a half!! My son has had a season pass to Meadows for 3 years (he is 13) and loves to snowboard. I love the facilities, the location and even the food - but I will NEVER spend money at the "pro shop" again. read more

Awesome terrain --- worst customer service imaginable. Lift operators, restaurant people, the management, the rental people ... all horrible. BUT, awesome Instructors! Their instructors are incredible and they are out to make you have a good time and learn a great sport. The rest of the people there ? Well, lets see, guy at the register screwed up our rentals and passes, it took 25 minutes for the manager to respond ... so we missed our class ... 1 person in our group was a complete newbie ... so yeah, 4 hours of driving, all for nothing, because the register guy is incompetent. Do we get even a hot chocolate for my buddy ? NOPE!!! How about an apology ? NOPE!!! Can we take a shorter class ? NOPE! Just come back another day after driving another 4 hours! Have great day guys! Come back next time ... my wife is on her FIRST ever snowboarding lesson. 45 minutes into the class, her bindings break! She falls hard! We take the bindings back after the trip to the onsite doctor, expecting an apology ... what do we get ? A demand to pay $100 because we broke the binding! Are you kidding me?! Bindings don't have catastrophic failure ... its plastic! By nature, they break due to stress over time. Stress over time on the same place ... namely where people put pressure when leaning forward ... causes the plastic there to stretch, and as it stretches, the water gets in, freezes, pushes it apart. Repeat this over and over, and one day, the bindings will break! So anyway ... yeah, we paid $100 for my wife breaking her wrist because of their OLD CRAPPY RENTALS! Have a great day guys! IF there was ANY other viable way of hitting the slope, trust me, I would NEVER USE THIS PLACE! But there isnt, and since I own my gear, and pack a lunch ... I dont have to deal with this crap. Awesome place for kids during winter to learn skiing . The pass is insanely cheap 30$ up to 5 years of age for entire season . My son enjoyed learning to ski and had hours of fun . The only complaint is food in the cafe can be better .soggy fries ,dry chicken strips and tasteless dry sandwich. read more

This review is for the pro shop, too. And ski patrol, sort of. At the end of last season they were having a sale, and offering 40% off for pass holders. I was trying to make up my mind between a couple of boards, and since I couldn't demo first I took the shop guys' advice and bought a Lib Tech Skunk Ape BTX with reverse camber and Magnetraction serrated edges. Wow, what a board! In 26 years of snowboarding and probably seven different boards, this is easily the best I've ever had! I'm glad I took their advice. So, early in the 2010-2011 season, I was eating lunch on a windy day, when I saw my board outside get blown over and slide past the ski school and down into the creek! We had just gotten at least 14 inches, so the last 10-15 feet into the creek was straight down, and my poor board (which I had only ridden about six times by then) hit its nose on the rocks hard. I scoped it out but it was far too dangerous for me to scramble down into the creek, but luckily, an extremely helpful and patient ski patroller took the time to ski down there, rope up to a tree, belay down into the creek, and claw his way back out with my board. Hooray for ski patrol! I brought the board into the shop feeling bummed and pessimistic because the nose was split and splintered pretty bad. But I left it with them for about a week and their best/most experienced guy did an amazing job fixing it up. It was almost good as new. Huge thanks to the master repairman there!!
