Yep I went back for more. Again buying all flavors of their mochi donuts enough to make 2 dozen this time. Still amazed by how inexpensive it is. Service is always friendly and quick. Small little bakery filled with happiness just off the highway.

Mochi donut heaven!! Amazing bakery. ***show up early if you want any selection***. We showed up at 6:40am and already 8-10 people in front of us. Donuts are amazing the butter horn was so good. And all the baked goods look great. The people were super sweet. But struggled with order and using machine to process payment. lol. The line moved slow. But so worth it!! Best bakery on island. At least that we tried so far. Cool little bakery with lots of goodies and prices not bad. 2.50 a donut.

**Get here early if you want croissants. They tend to sell out around 9-10am** A must visit if coming to Big Island or Hilo. We drove here all the way from Kona twice during our 1 week stay. Our fav is the original taro mochi donut. All the other mochi donut flavors, though good, tend to be too sweet for our Asian taste. The donuts have such a pleasant mochi chewy texture and are very dense! If you have an air fryer, toast them for a bit and they get all hot and crispy--delicious! We also love the pastrami croissants. There's so much meat in them!!

We enjoyed ourselves at the bakery today. I grew up in this area, so this bakery is very well known. Coming back here after 10 years, the food only got better. Highly recommend trying the mochi donuts or butter rolls. The butter horns are also very soft and delicious. Always great service here and the employees are very friendly. Support small local businesses, so this is great!

5 stars all the way...first of all driving up to Bakery you stepped back into time, time literally stands still as you approach the bakery. We got there on Saturday morning and they don't open till 7:30am so we had a little wait, but had like 2 other people in front of us and when we left there was a line out the door (mix of local and tourist). Very small bakery with two showcases, one with their every popular Stone Cookies and the other with limited selection of pastries and mini pies (don't let the limited selection fool you, it was all YUMMY). Prices are reasonable for a baked goods (see picture with prices). We went to initially purchase stone cookies for my mom (those are her favoriet) ended up with bags of stone cookies (they now have a soft version) and 2 boxes of baked goods (which didn't make it down the drive to Hilo). A must is their mini pies and pastries, everything was NOT too sweet and just right, don't let the limited selection fool you, its all worth the wait in line and drive up the mountain. Definitely going back when we on the Big Island.

So we went to grab coffee nearby after leaving KMC lodge. We want to try stone cookies since it is famous. The woman who is in the registry is really rude. I am a customer asking why i was being over charged for $42 while the cookies i am trying to purchase is only $18. She also entertained the lady on my back while i am still looking if my card was charged for the $42. I am local in Oahu and active military and i never experienced this in other stores. That's not how you welcome customer. I also told her ma'am with all the respect i am just recommending that she needs to pay attention to customers but she was arguing to me instead.

Their mochi donuts are so good, they have their constant flavors but change up a couple flavors daily.

We tried the Bomboloni and Nutella Coconut croissant during our initial visit. The Bomboloni reminds me of a malasada but I enjoyed the creamy filling of this so much more. We ended up going back on our last day and tried some of the savory options - the goat cheese pesto croissant and then sausage roll were standouts for us. Enjoyed this place so much we hardly took pictures, but everyone should add this as a stop especially if visiting Volcano National Park!

In fact, except Madam Pele does NOT necessarily keep to the same schedule as the bakery, would try to time my Volcano drives to coincide with Friday, Saturday, or Sunday! Hahah. Today got a sampling of Mediterranean scones (savory with olives and delicious seasonings), croissants, danish, and my favorite... the ube cruffin. Holy Moly Batman... that one item was worth the drive alone! Since there really wasn't any real estate in our tummies, we split everything 3 ways... over the course of the next few hours. Two weeks later, still thinking about that ube cruffin! Would definitely do a repeat on that as well as the Medeterranean scones while trying other items. And as the nice couple infront of us in line mentioned, will have to return for the sister deli across the parking lot. Heard it was featured in Guy Hagi's food vlog. And if its good enough for Guy Hagi its where I want to be my next mealtime!

At first glance, it may look like other small, local shops, with locally made products and a few interesting goods to browse. (I ended up buying the last 'I'iwi bird pin they had on display, which I loved!) After reading some other reviews, I realized we may have just gotten lucky because the owner happened to be in that day. Let me say this upfront: they advertise slow black coffee and they mean it! The owner (Brian?) takes his time with each customer, chatting with you to understand what you're looking for and making some suggestions. It's clear he enjoys both his craft and engaging with customers. It was not very busy while we were there, which added to that relaxed, Hawaiian vacation vibe. We really enjoyed the conversation with him and even walked away having learned a few new things. We took our coffee and other purchases to enjoy on the bench outside, along with some stone cookies from nearby. (There were also additional tables and chairs available on a side patio.) Overall, we loved both the experience and the coffee, and we will definitely plan to stop by again the next time we are in the area!

The papaya salad was so fresh and at ($9) for a whole quart so affordable and easy to share with friends. The papaya stand was my favorite one as she makes the salad fresh in front of you. The purple tapioca potato pudding was so dense and interesting, really rich and lovely to try. I was also blown away by the macadamia nut croissant ($6), the croissant itself was fine, flaky and well baked, but the macadamia nut butter frangipane filling for the croissant stole the show. It was so decadent and sweet I savored every bite of the croissant! The marinated goat cheeses from the goat cheese stand were the most delicious goat cheese I've had in my life. Super creamy, luscious, silky and with interesting flavors. I grabbed two spicy goat cheeses I was so obsessed. There is so much to see eat and try! I can understand why the locals like the salted plum sugar as these were very sweet but I still enjoyed them. If I have another opportunity, I'll definitely be trying that other sugar option.

Here they were slightly more crispy on the outside but the soft fluffy insides tasted the same. I was hoping to pair my Malasada with a hot cup of Kona coffee but alas they dod not have any (not their fault, I guess since they are located in Hilo and not Kona). My wife chose to pair hers with a an iced vanilla latte but she said unfortunately it was a swing and a miss. One thing to note, when I read about this place on visitors guides and online nobody mentioned it was just a little food truck on a street corner in Hilo. I was looking for a local shoppe or a store front so we almost missed it. Hopefully the pictures I posted will help with that. If I was in Hilo I would come here again but mainly for the Malasadas.
