Got beef mishkaki. It was supposed to be sirloin, but most of the meat mushy - some even fell off the stick as it was so soft. The taste was ok: sour & spicy (that's the predominant flavour profile of the dishes here). The beef ribs are pretty good though slightly tough (the food's halal). They're slightly sour and slightly spicy. Flame grilled chicken sekela was a pretty big leg+thigh piece. It was rather spicy and quite good - a bit sour but less than the ribs. Peri fries have a wet spice & masala fries have a dry, Indian-African spice. Got the masala fries. They were mostly crispy & had a sour-spicy taste. Mogo (cassava) fries were OK - starchy and not very crispy The salad used cabbage which was a nice change from lettuce. There was not enough dressing though Service is pretty good. read more

I randomly came across this place on Facebook and a few of my friends had gone here and spoke very highly of the food so I thought I would give it a shot. It's in Richmond Hill but I thought it was worth the track. It's not that often that you come across East African food. First impressions, it's not very easyily visible the signage is pretty small, and its tucked away beside a mechanic shop. The place wasn't very busy at all so I was a little concerned. That being said I thought I would so give it a shot. Here's where the saying don't judge a book by it's cover comes into play. We were greeted by one of the co-owners, Kabir who is very helpful and made great suggestions on what to order. The service is definitely on point. Now to the most important part, the food: We ordered beef mishkaki, chicken mishkaki, beef ribs, chicken wings, cheeseburgers, piri piri fries, and Mogo (we definitely over ordered) Everything came with a side of their special Salim sauce. The ribs were excellent, nicely marinated and very flavorful, mogo crispy and fantastic, chicken mishkaki was tender, well seasoned and marinated (excellent). Cheeseburgers were surprisingly delicious, and they had a special 2 for $10 which was really nice. The chicken wings were very crispy and well flavored, we got the barbecue flavor. The beef mishkaki was good but not outstanding, a little tough unfortunately. I really wanted to try the kebabs but they were all out. Overall I would say that this place is 4 out of 5 stars because of the service and very good food! Prices are reasonable, serving sizes are average, a little smaller than I would have hoped but not bad. Would I go back? Definitely! If you're in the area and you're looking for a delicious African restaurant give this a try! They've just opened up 6 months ago, and are working on their signage so hopefully you'll have an easier time finding it than I did! read more

Sirloin mishkaki - really tender and flavorful and cooked just about right. Came with a side of tangy sauce 2. Cheeseburger - juicy burger with soft insides. 3. peri fries - I feel like the seasoning could have been more but it wasn't bad. 4. Poutine - comes with gravy and cheese curds. We came for lunch on a Saturday, and the place was pretty empty. Check in for 10% off. We got the burger and the ribs, as there were a lot of raving reviews on these items here. The ribs were pretty good - good char and taste on the meat. The burger was SO good! I really enjoyed it, it was very flavourful and filling. This is likely our fault, but the servers came by our table and asked if we wanted sauces to dip the ribs in which we said yes, but we weren't aware that we were being charged for it until we went to pay. We had heard about this place through friends and despite having already eaten, still decided to take-out some of our favourite East-African appetizers as a midnight snack. As the previous reviewer mentioned, we too could not see any indication of the restaurant from the street and were wondering if we were in the wrong place. The exterior looks a little run-down, next to a garage/mechanic and another small restaurant. We were there on a Friday night around 10pm and the place was buzzing with more people coming in! They have two rooms for seating, one being the kitchen area where you would order/take away that has about 2 tables and the other being a larger room with many tables. It is simple but clean and cosy. We were greeted by one of the owners himself, Kabir, who was very friendly and hospitable despite us only taking some appetizers to go. We ordered the Meat Samosas, Kababs and Zanzibar Mix which were all packaged very well along with two of their special house sauces! Everything was delicious, the samosa filling was perfect and brought back memories. It would have been even better if the samosa pastry itself was homemade as they had used spring-roll sheets. The kababs were outstanding and went really well with the spicy sauce and tamarind chutney. I feel the Zanzibar Mix could have been better as it lacked some flavour and it was mainly sauce with not much fillings/toppings. Overall, great unique new addition to Richmond Hill - a cuisine worth trying out! Prices were a little steep considering portion-sizes are on the smaller side but delicious flavours and top service! Intrigued by the menu, I ordered their Chicken Mishkaki, Jamaican Muchaichan Burger, and Ribs, and these options surpassed my expectations. At first, Muchachos Grill is a small location where the kitchen and dinning area are in the same room. But their culinary creations are indescribable. Their combination of sauces provided an excellent start to my Saturday afternoon. Their Mishkaki (East African dish) provided a refreshing experience compared to my daily life of kababs and burgers. Finally, their RIBS. O.M.G. Their ribs were some of the best I have had in Canada. Their East African sauce made this creation absolutely delectable. Worst food ever. We ordered takeout - beef kebab (or whatever it is called) and fries. Meat was not fresh - it was obviously heated leftovers and sprinkled with even more spices to mask odour. Fries was also spicy (why would you do that) and even added cabbages from the jar were incredibly spicy and also looked not fresh.. The worst experience ever. I don't understand why this place even gets good reviews. Maybe when you dine in it's different, but takeout sucks. That's weird, because we pay same money! read more
