    Super filling meal!
    Jen I.

Do I have a new local favorite spot? I think so... I saw a friend post about this spot, and the photos got my mouth watering. I immediately bookmarked this place and planned on going as soon as I was in the area. Well, that day came this week. I was advised that there is usually a line up, so I gave myself some time and sure enough, there was a line in front of me of about 5-6 people. To me, that's a good sign. This place was the real deal, it was simple and to the point. People made their order, paid cash, and left - the wait wasn't bad at all. This was my first time trying Chinese BBQ, so I was playing it safe by trying the BBQ pork, but when I mentioned it was my first time, the lady at the counter said I could mix and match meats so I also got the roast pork. Holy moly...I don't know which one was better? They were both amazing in their own ways....cooked perfectly, not dry, the rice was even amazing. For $12, I was able to have lunch for 2 days, and everyone at my work was jealous of the amazing aroma wafting from my office.. Needless to say...I will be back! It will be hard not to return too often!

Food, love the Crispy Pork, especially when it just came out fresh, don't like how the BBQ pork make my rice red, maybe too much food colouring Service is fast but always line up out the door Ambiance, it's mostly take out but they do have couple seats for you to finish the lunch box real quick **Closed on Sunday** what I hate the most about them

I must change my review and previous 4 star to a 1 star now. I will say their bbq is still good but this review is more for service and attitude. I'll explain my 1 star change and why I won't be coming ever again. I'm not sure if others have experienced this, I would like to know so leave a comment. Since returning regularly, I noticed some bias. Some serious bias towards me. Now, maybe the lady owner doesn't like me so be it. That is ok. But I have been there in 3-4 occasions and upon paying I noticed some people ahead of me paying cash just like me and getting a total of $16 or $15 or $14 even. But When I pay the lady owner calculates my total on a separated calculator and gives me an uneven total like $17.40 or $18.65 Now I don't mind them avoiding tax for paying the government But Why the bias and charging the customers ahead of me - obviously NO TAX and then charging me tax on a separate calculator. For this reason I won't ever frequent this place. Please let me know if others have had a similar experience.

The best bbq meats in the city. There's usually a wait. For holidays I recommend ordering a day early to avoid the queues. There's a few standing tables if you want to dine in.

BBQ items like Charsui, Suiyuk, and Roasted Duck are the best in town. Crispy skin, great portion rice box, reasonably priced. Simply unbeatable in Richmond Hill. This time, the cashier sold me to try their braised pigtail. She kept telling me it was incredibly tasty and took them hours to cook. "We don't have these pigtails every day!" I have never heard of that before. Is that really edible? I was skeptical but she sounded with great passionate about it. So, after going back and forth in my mind about buying it or not, I finally bought a small box of braised pigtails and tried it! Verdict: it's just too exotic for me. All I can tell you is that it's very oily with not much meat. It's almost like a very fatty version of ham hocks but with way less meat on it. And the pigtail tip was just unbearable. Once and for all having this. I did not even bother to post any picture of that "dish". Still shivering from it. LOL! Not a cool experience. Go for ordinary BBQ items are all fine but stay away from ANY intriguingly unusual stuff.

Okay, so if you plan on picking up food from you, be sure to not be on a tight schedule because they do take quite some time to chop up the barbecued meats! I promise you though, the wait is always SO worth it :D I have been eating barbecue pork from this place for as long as I can remember. It is always the right amount of sweet, and salty, super tender in terms of meat quality, and I never find the cuts of meat to be too fatty, or too lean. Another thing to make note of is if you really like ginger, and scallion oil normally with your bbq, they sell their version here in little containers because it truly is that good. I always buy one to pair with my barbecue pork because I like the combination of flavors it makes! *Remember to bring cash as I think they don't take card payments at all * You order their barbecue meats by the pound or half pound (in case you've never ordered from a barbecue place before)

About a 7-10 minute wait. Worth it.

Just look at the picture. People don't lineup out the door if your food is not good. I started going here about 30 years ago. I'm still going here. Enough said.

Amazing BBQ place! They have a super freshly made selection and everything is cooked to perfection! In my experience, meat is always tender and juicy. They make batches throughout the day, so fresh batches vary. However, even when you get some of the meat at the end of the day, the meat is still not too dry or tough! Their prices are also amazing. Very reasonable meal and meat prices, with generous portions! You'll definitely be getting great value if you come here. All transactions are cash only though! Service is a bit slower than you may expect. They cut the meat per order so it could take some time to get through orders, so don't come if you're in a rush! I think it's worth the wait. Definitely recommend coming by for BBQ meats, you will not be disappointed! I always get the char siu (BBQ pork) because it's a classic and delicious. Ask for half fat for that extra juicy flavour!

Awesome and authentic Chinese food. They took pride in what they served their food (basically to go only). Each piece was carefully cut in front of you at the counter and every piece was excellent quality and nothing you'd have to cut yourself. Small restaurant but line moved quickly and service was VERY nice. Awesome job ladies!!!!

Returned to Kum Hong after eating at HKS BBQ in First Markham, and HKS wins on flavor; however, staff at Kum Hong are friendly and very accommodating.

As delicious as ever, it is getting particularly busy during lunch hours. People are now more inclined to wait indoors rather than line up outdoors due to the cold weather. Since there isn't much room, it may get packed at times as indoor capacity is not being enforced. A small rice box is now $10.50 and a large is $11.50. Pro-tip: You can actually call ahead to place an order during the day. Just be mindful that since it's so busy, they may not always be able to pick up the call.

BBQ Pork (char siew) is pretty good. The meat is tender enough, but it lacks char & a little fat. Jian Hong BBQ House and H K S BBQ & Noodle do this dish better. Roast pork (siew yoke) is good. The meat is tender and the skin is light and crispy. It's on the lean side though.

The roast pork and duck were juicy and tender and the skin were crispy. However, I did notice I drank a lot of water afterwards but honestly it's really good food

    Mixed duck and pork. Awesome!
