We had lunch on the patio today.. The good news is our food was good and our server did a good job. The bad news is there was an unleashed dog named Rico wandering around on the patio. We overheard one of the servers telling customers it was her families dog. We saw him poop on the wood-chipped area on the patio, nobody cleaned it up. The dog went from table to table and the owners response was to just shove him away. While he was a very nice dog, and we are dog owners ourselves, we don't enjoy eating out and having to deal with somebody else's dog. read more

He said it was a large order and they were larger than the other options. When I received my order it has 4 onion rings total. With that said, we had a choice between here and Applebee's. We opted for the former. We walked in the door at 10:57. A server rushed over and asked us if we were there for food or drinks. Indicating food, she told us we had three minutes because the kitchen closes at eleven. Both members of my party opted for boneless wings. My personal selection was the traditional buffalo, well done. The wings are closer to being tenders, but boy were they large. The ranch dressing tasted homemade. I believe we got five tenders apiece. The server was friendly and continuously checked back on us. She was able to get us additional dipping sauces even after the kitchen was closed and kept our water glasses refilled. A+ to her. I was skeptical to come here, as the yelp reviews were a bit shady at best. I have to say, what a pleasant surprise! Drinks were great, fresh, and cold. The waitress even took her time to bring us samples of various beers to try out, without us even asking. Food was really outstanding! Pros: when the food is good (that night), it's really good. Cons: the food is not consistent from night to night. We have visited 8 or 10 times. Our very first visit, I ordered the avocado BLT and it was divine. Lots of avocado, thick candied bacon strips, just perfect. I declared that I would never order another sandwich every again. But I ordered it twice after that, and it was just mountains of lettuce, 2 tiny slices of avocado, hardly any bacon. It was just bread and lettuce. I've had the salmon salad and it's been fantastic. My husband has had a couple of so-so sandwiches. The wait has never been too long - even when it's busy. Staff are nice. We've been put in a back room a few times, to accommodate a larger party, which I appreciate. Prices are okay - just your normal "Chili's" prices. I wish it was more consistent. Then we got to our table and it took another 10 minutes for anyone to greet us or bring us water. Our waitress was very apologetic and kind and did whatever she could to help save our dinner. Everyone else working there looked miserable and like they wanted to be anywhere else. The kid who dropped off our food was like enjoy your food with a scowl. it was borderline SNL skit material. Food review: Burgers were good. The fries were really good. Chicken cranberry salad with tequila dressing -- just ok. The cherry tomatoes they put on the salad had been sitting in the fridge too long or were old. Kids meal was ok -- good portions. They have a pack of Oreos for the cookie like we were at sam's club so that was entertaining. French dip was lovely and good, au juis was basically salt water and someone messed that up bigtime. I've been here twice while in Shakopee from out of town. Both times the resturant wasn't busy but the wait sure makes you think it's busy. If you have time to wait over 30 minutes just to get a drink and well over a hour to receive mediocre food than this is the place for you. Pros: -Nice looking bar -Nice burger selection -Good prices -Best waffle fries I've ever had -The mac n cheese in the burger was good -Good daily specials -Lots of TVs -Good hamburger bun Cons: -Poor customer service, specifically bad server and host attitudes, ignored by host when tying to get a table, waitress seemed annoyed to be at work -Lots of of missing items, i.e plates, napkins, side sauces -Burger was very dry overall, the amount of seracha sauce was less then adequate. The patty was overcooked, juiceless, and without much flavor Recommendations for Management: Put your Cottage Grove staff through adequate training before opening up the new store. Having lived next to CG in Saint Paul Park my entire life, I have literally seen dozens of restaurants come and go in Cottage Grove and you'll need to bring your A game in both customer service and food quality to survive that city as word spreads quickly in a large-ish city with a small town mentality which can work in your favor or against you. I know when Junction 70 in CG opened last year they did a "soft opening" for a little while with only a limited menu, I believe that served them well as this gave them a proclaimed grace period for both service and food quality/timeliness. Dinner 2: Chicken Caesar Salad - good lettuce, chicken and dressing were completely tasteless. Asked for more croutons... that didn't help. The bright spot was the complimentary cheese balls and peanuts (in the shell); it's mostly downhill from there. All drinks are 2 for 1 all the time, but not shots; order those on the rocks and you get 2-1. Diet Coke was great, sometimes it comes across as a little watered down - not here, it was great! We have tried them four times. The food is served luke warm, it does taste good, but would be so much better hot. We always sit at the bar. On our last visit, the bartenders changed shifts at about 5:00. After the new shift started, it was a struggle to get any service at all. I don't know if they were so concerned about who was getting the tip or what the issue was. When we could get someone's attention, we were met with eye rolls or other expression that they should not be helping us. Everything here is just ok. I had such high hopes! I held off reviewing until I had given this place 3 shots. I'm really not a fan of the remodel job. There was so much potential & I feel they completely missed the mark. It seems so cold & uninviting. I think they were going for the industrial look with stainless steel everywhere. It's just not a place I want to take family or friends to eat, watch a game or hang out. It might help if they dimmed the lights a bit at night... I feel like I should be grocery shopping or something when I'm in there cuz the lights are so bright! It just feels odd. The food is pretty mediocre! The cheese curds were sitting in a pool of grease... nachos are decent. My husband's burger was over cooked & dry but mine was pretty good & not overdone. Fries were good. I wish instead of bogo they would do half price drinks. I get it they just doubled their income BUT I hate that they serve me both drinks at the same time. Watered down by the time I drink it... maybe I need to drink faster but sometimes I like to just take my time & enjoy. Maybe they could figure out a system to do bogo but u can get one drink at a time. Just a thought! I'll still check this place out periodically but, unfortunately it's not one of our go to restaurants! The Muddy Cow used to be a place where my friends and I have always enjoyed going to for drinks and dinner. In the last few months or so the management and staff suck at customer service. Their food isn't even enough to rant about anymore. Tonight was a complete disaster and it wasn't even busy enough to be "overwhelming". Took an hour an half to feed 10 people, two of them leaving without food as it never showed up due to the kitchen supposedly being behind in orders according to our server. The server couldn't even manage to get the checks or food correctly! After confronting management, management then proceeded to just throw the employee under the bus. 10 people will not be returning after this night due to awful service. Muddy Cow has definitely gone down hill since they've opened. read more

A friend suggested I try the Muddy Cow. Upon arrival, I was impressed on the changed look from the prior business. This was the end of my fascination. It was approximately 3pm on a Saturday. It was quite slow, only about 1/4 of the tables occupied. I ordered a salad and steak, medium. My friend did the same. While waiting for our dinners, we were noticing that this place was lacking in cleanliness. I could understand this if we were there during a busy time however, it was not busy at all. Our salads and main courses were delivered to the table at the same time. Both our steaks were most definitely well done. Not even close to medium. If the server would have stayed at our table for a minute, I would have had time to cut into my steak and politely ask for a medium done one as requested. Actually, if she would have revisited our table at any point of the meal, I would have mentioned this. I was anticipating the arrival of the tab and the opportunity to comment on my meal. Again, if the server had stayed at our table for a minute or even asked, "How was everything? How was your meal?" I could have commented. I snapped a photo of a common area as I left. The bartender that was working yesterday around 5pm is trash! Horrible customer service! She tells me its drinks before pull tabs. But yet goes around and serves everyone else even if its pull tabs. I sat there for 15 mins waiting n being patient. Mind you im ordering drinks too. Felt discriminated smh .
