Service was awful. Hands down, the worst spot we've visited in our trip to Wolfeboro. Would not recommend Garwoods sadly. We were able to get a seat outside for dinner, and that's where the service ended. Our waitress never said hello/hi/good evening just a lifeless, annoyed "what can I get you?" We got a sense early on service may be bad, so we opted to start with an appetizer and see if the service got better. It didn't. Didn't ask how the chowder was, but asked if we were ready to order more. The chowder was fine, but nothing special. But with the horrible service, I would not recommend this spot. read more

We were very disappointed that we were unable to dine at Garwoods because the ADA lift was broken. A member of our party uses a wheelchair, and without a working lift, there was no accessible way for us to enter the restaurant. We had planned to eat there, but instead had to leave simply because the accessibility equipment was not functioning. When a business relies on a lift as its accessible entrance, keeping that lift operational is incredibly important. Accessibility should not depend on whether a piece of equipment happens to be working that day. Unfortunately, we can't comment on the food or service because we never had the opportunity to get inside. I hope Garwoods addresses the issue promptly and has a backup plan in place so other wheelchair users are not turned away by the same situation. read more

Juan, the manager, was super rude before even seating us. They don't take reservations so we went in, after the lunch rush, knowing that a large group can be hard. The place was half empty when we went, at around 1:30pm. We asked for a table, or two tables next to each other, for 10 people. They said that is fine and would probably take 20 - 30 minutes. I came back in 30 minutes (we had 6 hungry kids!) and asked about the table. I also asked if we can sit at any of the empty tables in the place. They said they weren't seating those sections... ok. But were getting a table ready for us downstairs. I said we prefer two tables to split the group and maybe be easier to set up, but one is fine too. We waited at the front and some man (Juan, the manager, apparantly) rushed over and asked "are you the party of 10?" I said yes. He goes - we have one table for you, take it or leave it. I said sure, we will take it - as we are here trying to have lunch. He huffed off and I said - should we follow you to the table and he goes - you wait for the hostess, thats how this works. I had actually assumed he was the host. As how would I know who is who. Obviously, I know how this works... No idea why he was so rude or in such bad mood. I did ask if there was a problem and he said that we were being "demanding" and the place was "very busy". It was half empty. There was not one person at the bar. 20 minutes into our lunch we were literally the only people in the whole place. Food was ok. The waitress was perfectly nice. We ordered 2 dozen oysters and they came right after our meals, which was strange but whatever. One person ordered a second drink and it took over 20 minutes. But again, we are on vacation so not a big deal. Juan's attitude, rudeness, and aggression was astounding. We were in a restaurant asking for a table and telling him we prefer two tables but one works too. "We have one table for you, take it or leave it" is a strange response. The place was half empty and had many open tables, in every section (outside and inside). Even if it WERE busy, that rudeness and flat out aggression from the start is totally uncalled for. Maybe Juan was having a bad day, no idea. Even the kids were like - whats his problem? Especially as a manager, he can be helping the host instead of being rude to customers. read more

3 stars may seem bad ... but its actually average, which is exactly what Garwoods is. Sub-par food ... great views from the upper deck. If you are in Wolfsboro and are looking for lake views, this place will suit your needs well. There is no parking and the public lot behind is always full. Prepare to circle a lot ... or find creative spaces. Paralell parking on the street is quite a chore as once you go behind the spot and try to back in, its almost impossible. The food here is average ... or slightly below. I had the worst $26 clam strip roll I have ever had. It had 4 clam strips ... yes, only 4!! Basically, it was a mountain of fries, a plain hot dog bun (not even butter toasted) and a small cup of mayonaise covered cole slaw. The fish and chips are okay ... it looks better than it tastes. Appetizers are nothing to write home about, although the seafood chowder was the best dish any of us had, loaded with clams, potatoes and fish. We found ourselves pondering the menu as nothing looked incredibly good. The views are what you come for. On a nice day, the early 2000's 'wooden everything' decorated interior is not where you want to be seated. The upper deck area naturally has a long wait ... but great waterfrobt views. They have a lower deck as well, which is covered. Slightly less remarkabke views as you are at water level. The waiter was great. Lots of good suggestions and wasn't obstrusive. It's hard not to want to give this place 4 stars for the service and the views ... but the food is just so dissapointing, 3 stars is what it really deserves. read more

Service was good. Food was subpar. I had the shrimp tacos, about 4 baby shrimp was in in each. A few of the potato chips had sugar on them. My friend had the fried fish sandwich. It was pollock, which was fine, but 2 fish sticks do not make a sandwich. There are better options in the Wolfeboro downtown area. read more

The man from the bookstore across the street recommended this spot for us when we asked him about a "good bite on the water". He did not steer us wrong. We weren't starving but licked our plates clean anyway. We started with the French onion soup (even though it was probably 80° with the sun beating down on us). The soup was phenomenal. My boyfriend got the fish tacos and said they were awesome, he just wished they came with 3 instead of 2. The homemade potato chips were a nice touch on the side. I got the butternut ravioli salad and added grilled chicken to it. This was SO good. The salad was refreshing but also hearty, perfect amount of dressing, fresh ingredients, and seasonal with the ravioli on top. The outdoor seating overlooking the lake was so relaxing and we overheard the tables next to us talking about how much they and their families love the restaurant as well. Hannah was our server and was super attentive and nice. One thing to note is we overheard them talking about the restaurant closing after Halloween and reopening in July (I believe). Seems like this is the first time they're doing a lengthy closing, and the locals next to us had no idea, so just call to check that they're open if you're looking to visit! read more

Went with the girls and it was great! The server was amazing! The machines went down twice when we needed to pay but she quickly got it through before it happened again! Perfect outdoor setting on the lake made for a wonderful setting to have lunch. I had the cheesesteak and it was so delicious! Others had the quesadillas, which looked amazing as well, and the chicken entree which was super tender and delicious! Would definitely visit again! read more

Service was horrible. I have been coming here for a long time, food and service was terrible. Some people at the table did not get there meals. Those that did get the meals food was cold. When we spoke the to the Manager, he completely dismissed our complaints. He actually said he had no time for my complaining. They were short staffed and doing the best they could. Then he walked a way. My husband took offense at the way he spoke to me and did let him know that it's not acceptable to speak to anyone that way. The manager then came to our table and demanded we leave. He called us assholes and said he was going to call the police if we didn't leave. It was an experience we have not ever had. It's a shame that a customer would ever be treated in that manner. If you want slow cold food, this is the place. Rudeness is just an added bonus. read more

Went for lunch today. No tap beers, the taps weren't working. The Dirty Martinis were great! Fish and chips were good, burgers were good, but if you want cheese it's $1 extra, linguine with clam sauce was ok, but way too much black pepper. $14 Caesar salad, but to add steak was an extra $18! It was 4 small slices! The kids meal haddock bites were old and hard. We had mussels appetizer which were okay but only came with 2 slices of bread, when we asked for more, they charged us $5! Our total check was $275 and I think it's not good business to nickel and dime your customers. Our server Mack was excellent! read more

Oh Garwoods! Best location in town. Beautiful restaurant. Nice addition to the decks. Good service, acceptable (not great) food. My problem right now is they cut back of a third (or more) of their menu. Which means a lot less options for folks. Last time there I got chowder and potstickers. Not that great. My wife got a salad that she could get at the Market Basket togo counter. My daughter said the Caesar Salad was very good. The burger is good but it's not on the menu. 5 spice salmon is also decent. read more

What a beautiful place with a yummy menu! We stopped here on our way home from our Lake Winnipesaukee weekend and weren't disappointed. We ate outside and it was a little windy and chilly (Labor Day weekend ) but the view was really pretty. We ate some oysters, a steak and cheese sandwich and fish and chips - everything was delicious! We felt clean and safe during covid and our waiter was kind. Definitely recommend!! read more

Very pleased with their food! I believe the best calamari I've ever had and their Cod was cooked perfectly with their fish and chips. Tasted like the freshest of these items I've had anywhere. Topped off with a couple of Guinness and I'm very satisfied. It's a bit on the pricey side, but I'd say worth every bite! read more

We went tonight, party of 5. Service was really off. The waitress was training someone but drink refills never came, items were forgotten. It wasn't busy at all. Items we ordered 1. French Onion Soup - it was just ok. The broth was not flavorful at all, there was nothing much of a crouton and just barely a floater of cheese. 2. Two burgers were good, no issues 3. Fish tacos were good no issue 4. Two orders of fish and chips - fish want fresh, and the cuts were weird cylindrical pieces which were very firm and not flaky. All diners complained the fries were limp, underdone and a couple of dishes as well as the fries were just not hot at all. read more

Hands down the best meal we have had in a while. They really cannot go wrong with any item on their menu! I tried the portobello mushroom sandwich- hearty flavorful filling, lovely naan bread and perfect portions. Husband loved their surf and turf-came with a good sized crab cake, steak, mashed potatoes and veggies. Do try their crab cakes! Their tiramisu was perfect! I'll start with the good. The servers were friendly and timely. The drinks were good and strong. However not strong enough to make the food edible. My baked cod came out of a bag in the frozen food isle and was microwaved for sure. The capers were grey and the sauce was, well I'm not sure what that was supposed to be. Everything was completely dry. I only took half a bite and still my stomach hurt on the way home. And I was the lucky one. My daughter's chicken tasted like fish and she got a nosebleed on the ride home. My mother in law ate some of her French onion soup, my wife ate half of an oddly shaped piece of fish that was atop of her taco. The guacamole came out a bag, there was some dry cabbage, no cilantro, no salsa. It was pretty god awful. The pot stickers were slimy and tasted rubbery. They both had to run into the bathroom of gas station twenty minute later. I've never written a review in my life and I am very easy going and forgiving when it comes to bars and restaurants. But whatever is going on this kitchen is making people sick and you are charging real prices for frozen food and fish while overlooking a lake. It felt very ironic. read more

We hadn't been here for a few years, but went recently for lunch on a sunny July day. The hostess was pleasant and accommodated our request to sit outside on the water. Our server was prompt, thorough and helpful ("be careful not to step on duck poop"). And yes, we enjoyed the hen duck that was visiting tables. Tonight was a lets try somewhere we haven't eaten before night, and as we love dining on Lake Winnipausaukee, we chose Garwoods. When we arrived, we were surprised that there were tables on the deck available, as it is a friday night around 6:30. To say the views here were better than expected, is an understatement My wife started with their lobster bisque and I chose the clam chowder. It was just a typical chowder to me, but thats not really a bad thing, as most restaurants in this area have better than average chowders. My wife loved her bisque though, and said she'd order it again. As we aren't big eaters these days, we both had salads for dinner. My wife had the butternut squash ravioli salad and she thoroughly enjoyed it. I chose the Shrimp and Avocado salad and although this dish was not something I'd normally order, I loved it. I see other reviews mention the prices and yes it was a bit pricey, but the whole experience here was well worth it. read more

There are certain dishes for which we come back again and again to Garwoods, and this trip was no exception. Our meals were excellent as usual. However, the noise at the bar was incredibly loud and the diners near the windows, not just us, were having a hard time hearing each other in our own conversations. Why can't you put a glass partition between the bar and the dining room to cut the noise factor? Clear glass, nautical theme, would look just fine. On another note, we love that you are increasing the outdoor space by building a deck. That will be a big plus. read more

Garwoods rocks. They have 3 slips in the back where you can pull in, step off and roll into the restaurant. They added a second upper deck which provides just about the nicest view from any restaurant on the lake. The food is consistently very good. My wife and I will be heading over for our last order of fish and chips before we take the boat out for the winter. Thier F & C's is the best anywhere. I can't believe those who complain about the abreviated menu. It is a miracle the place survived the pandemic closures. I have been a huge fan of this place for 20 years. It consistently delivers an excellent meal. Not perfect. But damn good. read more

Love this place - great ambience, view, and really solid food! If you're seated inside, feels like you're in a ship. Really cute spot in Wolfboro. I will say the buffalo chicken tenders were probably the best I've ever had in my life!!! Everything is great - the ahi tuna tacos were tasty (obviously not the most authentic tacos I've ever had in my life but healthy and very satiating). Two stars because the best thing about this place is the view. the food was terrible. Fried fish sandwich that was so overcooked it was like a eating a brick. Butternut ravioli that were obviously frozen on a bed of wilted lettuce. I've had better Potstickers out of the freezer aisle at Walmart. They did have a tasty fruit infused tequila we enjoyed, and the bartender was pleasant enough. Go here for drinks and the view, save your money and don't order food. read more
