I know everyone comes here mostly for the drinks but the food is fantastic! I came here on a Friday night with a reservation with a group of 7. We were seated at a very small round table that barely fit all of us. It was super crowded in the restaurant and almost every table was taken by that time around 7. Huge selection of drinks and fairly priced but the food was a little overpriced for what you get. Gotta say though, everything was delicious! Just wish there was more to go around... after spending about $30 a person, we still left hungry sadly. Japchae was very soft, not as chewy as traditional japchae but very flavorful. There was so much meat in it, that I thought they gave us bulgogi by accident. The shredded egg on top was a nice touch for sure. We paid extra for cheese on top of the ttebbokki but that is a must! They didn't skimp out on the cheese so every bite had a nice cheese pull! My favorite of the night was definitely the tofu kimchi bossam. Mui had the worst customer service. My friends and I went for drinks, and when we arrived, the place was full with a short line. The hostess told us the wait would be two hours. I asked if the wait was the same for food and drinks, and she said yes. Since there wasn't really a line, we decided to wait because two hours seemed unreasonable. Then, we noticed that everyone being seated was Korean, even people who arrived after us. When we asked the hostess why, she claimed they had reservations, but we didn't see her checking anything. A group of Koreans walked in, and I asked if they had a reservation--they said no. Yet, they got seated before us. At that point, it was obvious we were being treated differently. When we confronted the hostess, she changed her excuse, saying it was because we only asked for drinks. But we had also said we were fine with ordering food. I was pleasantly surprised about this place. Really wanted some good KBBQ, but had reservation for seafood on my last night in NY. Walked to Ktown with my wife from Times Square and found this place. Didn't even have to smell like grilled pork belly to enjoy it. The kimchi there is pretty good. According to one of them, they make it there instead of buying it. Seafood pancake was very filling, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Full of squid in there when you take a bite. Clam soup was a light broth and a generous portion of clams were served. Rice dough was a bit thick for my liking, but is a dish that can be easily shared for multiple people. This new raw crab dish was also surprisingly good - very well marinated in a sweet spicy sauce and very generous amount of crab bodies and legs were given. Also had the tofu kimchi bossam, which was also a pretty light dish. The pork bellies were slightly roasted and braised, and didn't feel overly oily or undercooked. Came here for a pre-karaoke dinner. The food and service was excellent. The serving sizes and prices were reasonable for K-town. I especially enjoyed the kimchi fried rice and spicy seafood soup, which we added ramen to. They also ended up giving us a discount code for the karaoke bar in the building and we ended up going there as well. read more

Cute spot with good food and drinks. Came here for dinner on a Monday night around 6pm and we were one of just a few tables occupied. By the time my friend and I left around 8pm the place was pretty packed. Started off with the Tofu Kimchi Bossam, which was great! The Potato Pancake was really good too. My favorite was the Spicy Beef Intestine Stew. So good! For the two of us, those three dishes were more than enough food, we had so many leftovers when we left. The servers were really nice as well. Pretty good bar food, this place is a little bit harder to spot since you have to go upstairs to get to it. My favorite was the chicken gizzard. TLDR: I know this place is meant to be a drinking spot, but I enjoy some of my favorite Korean dishes in the city here. I've been coming frequently since I've moved to the city five years ago and bring friends and family that visit from out of town! Two of my favorite dishes are the chicken poppers with scallion salad and the tofu kimchi bossam. I know these dishes are ubiquitous in Korean restaurants in NYC/NJ but trust me, it's better here. I also enjoy the braised pig feet and any of the pancakes. I have not complained about the food here once in five years. Our temperatures were taken immediately as we walked in, and our table was situated quite far from other tables. I'm writing this review because I read other reviews that said the folks here were not welcoming to non-Koreans. This was not our experience at all!! The crowd is mostly Korean (and young 20s) here but I think that's because the locals are not used to going to buildings with different restaurants on every floor. We had a great time. We made Yelp reservations, however called to push back the time and appreciated the flexibility. Upon arrival, they didn't ask if we had reservations and seated us nearby the neon sign due to other seats being occupied, which was a little odd because we thought it was one of those reservation only spots. We had one of those expectations vs. reality situations because from the Yelp photos, MUI seems like a mellow spot to have a date night or play catch up with friends, but realistically it's ratchet with people talking and pop music playing-although I was able to Shazam some songs so I enjoyed the music. We weren't too hungry and just ordered the Mild Mixed Seafood Soup, which was hearty, clean, and a tad spicy due to the jalapeño afloat the liquid, but I wish there was more variety to the ingredients such as the addition of fungus, tofu, and quail eggs. The tofu kimchi bossam just straight tasted off. The kimchi was so sweet and I don't know what the pork was boiled in but it just tasted and smelled very strange. Also the meat was dry and not tender at all the way bossam should be. The spicy beef intestine stew was probably the best dish we had. It had a nice little kick, flavorful and plenty of intestine. They serve it on a little stove burner & cast iron and there's some mozzarella cheese at the bottom... once you let it melt and mix it with the ddeokbokki sauce you're golden. Cute little restaurant hidden in the middle of ktown. You have to take one of those tiny elevators to get here, but the food was good and the drinks were refreshing. You can probably find better food in ktown, but because this place is kind of hidden, you can actually have a conversation with your friends, which is rare in ktown. read more

The last time I visit this spot was a good 5 years ago for drinks with colleagues. This time around, I came for dinner with a large group of friends. Located on the fifth floor, taking the elevator up wasn't the most pleasant experience, as the people that just came out were taking the trash out from another restaurant in the building. Once you get the the restaurant, the atmosphere completely changes. They recently renovated the entire place, and it looks a lot nicer and brighter than it's previous condition. We took up two of the round tables they had and then proceeded to essentially order 1/2 of their menu and a lot of soju. Below is a list of food items we ordered that I could remember (mainly based off the terrible photos I took in the dark space): Tofu Kimchi Bossam - $23 - Braised pork belly with sautéed kimchi and tofu. Braised Pork Feet - $28 - Sliced braised pork feet serve with scallion salad, salted shrimp, and sweet soy paste sauce. Grilled Whole squid - $17 - Grilled whole squid with house made soy sauce. Grilled Pork Belly - $21 - Bite sized grilled pork belly, served with fried aged kimchi and scallion salad. Grilled Beef Intestines - $21 - The name pretty much states what it is. Shrimp Okonomyaki - $18 - Japanese style shrimp pancake topped with bonito and seaweed flakes, mayonnaise and okonomiyaki sauce. Crispy Kimchi Pancake - $18 - Korean style aged kimchi pancake Spicy Oil Rice Cake - $17 - Deep fried rice cake seasoned with spicy chili oil sauce and deep fried stuffed seaweed roll bottom on mozzarella. Personally not a fan of rice cakes. Spciy bai-top shell (Sea Snails) / veggie & noodle - $23 - Cooked bai-top shell & veggie in Gochujang sauce comes with ramen noodle. And the chicken gizzards were just ok...the pieces were cut very small and it seemed that half the dish was just onions and peppers (nothing memorable). Ordered also a lychee fruit soju. I was surprised though the color was pink. I've ordered this in the past at other places and it was white. Just tastes like you are drinking fruit juice. Happy hour is until 8pm! What I did like about the place is that if you pay in cash, you get 30% off your bill and if you pay in credit card, you get 20% off. That's pretty good deal. Mui just renovated and it is sooo cute!! Right when I heard that it was open again I had to go. My friend and I got our usual, the Tofu Kimchi Bossam which I highly recommend. Then we tried their spicy pork feet which came with little tuna rice balls. The pork feet was so tender and had just the right kick of spice. I was a little scared about trying the tuna rice balls because I'm not a big fan of tuna, but I can honestly say it was delicious! The tuna and the seaweed are cut up to little shards and mixed evenly throughout the rice all with corn and rice and it just made it so that every bite was the perfect bite. Another thing we tried was the Snowing Cheese Potato Pancake. This is a dish I do not recommend. I love many of Mui's dishes but this did not hit the spot. It was crispy on the outside and chewy in the inside which sounds delicious, but it was pretty flavorless. The one that was definitely the fan favorite was the seafood udon. Everyone in the table enjoyed it and it was the first dish to go. It had a nice kick of spicies and bold flavor with perfectly cooked udon. I also had their Fish Cake Soup which I loved. The soup was so flavorful and I loved the variety of things that it came with. It had mixed fish tofus, shrimp, crab and udon. It was steamy hot which made it extremely satisfying. Overall, I still love Mui. It is still one of my to go spots in K-Town. It is the place I recommend everyone to visit because the foods, drinks and the service is great. read more
