I was so nervous about getting my wedding dress altered. It was the most expensive piece of clothing I'd ever purchased and I didn't really understand the process for alterations. She was so friendly and knowledgeable. She happily accommodated all of my requests. She even did more complicated and minor things that made a world of difference in how I felt in the dress. She minimized the bust size (which required her to purchase new cups and rebuild that section of the dress). She also added additional lace to the bust section to make the dress what I had in my mind when shopping but never found. She also had suggestions of her own that really saved the day like trimming internal layers down to length while still leaving the outermost layer as a train. That change really made my wedding day so much more comfortable (and my ability to fluff the train out for photos so much easier) while still letting me feel so beautiful all day. I was recommended to get my wedding dress tailored here by Elegant Lace Bridal. At first, I was a bit skeptical because of how small the shop was and how I could barely fit my wedding dress inside the changing room, but Muia was very knowledgeable and helpful with the whole process. The one hiccup I would say is that when I was told a date to come pick up the dress, it was actually a second appointment to try the dress on after hemming to start the process on the bustle. Either way, it only took another week before my dress was ready for pick up. The bustle was also done so beautifully and I got so many compliments on it during my reception. Muia had excellent service, timing, and affordable pricing. My husband and my mom also got their garments tailored before the wedding and it took less than two weeks! Most recently, I brought my wedding dress in to be hemmed, and she honestly saved my wedding day by asking if I would be dancing in my dress. Since I answered yes, she suggested to add a bustle for the reception. The bustle was so well-done, it looked like the dress had been made that way! Everything was done with incredible attention to detail, exactly on schedule, and was well worth the price paid. Credit card fraud!? DO NOT PAY WITH CREDIT CARD! I paid with a new credit card that barely got used and this was the ONLY place I handed my card over (as opposed to me tapping or inserting the card myself). A few days later I got multiple fraudulent charges on my new card. My card is securely stored in my wallet right now and no one else has access to it ... so I'll let you draw your own conclusion. I don't know if the store owner is aware of this but that card reader is most certainly rigged. Otherwise ok workmanship, a classic example of you get what you pay for (the rates here are lower than others). read more

Quyen is an amazing seamstress! She tailored my wedding dress in about 4 weeks. After the first fitting, there were some additional tweaks needed and she completed those in 2 weeks. Her pricing is very competitive, but don't think any less of her skill. She only charged me $170 for taking the bust, waist, and hips in and hemming. Other places quoted me $400-700+, but they admitted to me that they weren't sure how to address certain parts of the dress since it was "complicated". Quyen took a quick look over and said it was very simple and I trusted her expertise. My fiancé also got his suit tailored here with great results. I came back with my wedding dress years later and had another great experience at Muia's! I shortened my dress, added cups, adjusted the arms a bit, and added a simple bustle for the back. The alterations process was easy and affordable. For pricing, you will need to take your dress in to get a quote as each dress differs based on the fabric and how much work you need done. Wow, she is the best! I dropped off my wedding dress in March for my April 2020 wedding. Sh assured me she'd have it ready on time, no problem. Then COVID hit and the wedding was cancelled. Then my first baby was stillborn in June 2020. Then I lost my second baby in February 2021. That's when I realized I needed something positive in my life, something good to loo forward to so in July 2021 I went back to pick up my wedding dress, 1.5 years after I dropped it off, and I was terrified she would no longer have it. I mean, it had been a year and a half. But of course, she had it, it fit perfectly, and she only charged me $80. Other tailors had quoted me up to $500! She even gave me tips about how to get the wrinkles out before my October 2021 wedding. I will take every single thing I need to get altered here in the future because she does such an excellent job for such a reasonable price. And she didn't get rid of my beautiful dress! I was told that my item was going to be ready at 12:30. I showed up at 3 o'clock and she told me to come back in an hour. This is after she looked for my item for at least 15 minutes because she couldn't find it. When I came back after an hour, she still expected me to pay full price. I highly recommend Muia's for any of your tailoring needs! I have never been to a tailor before and wasn't sure what to expect. When I came in, she was very friendly and worked with me to figure out what alterations to do. Originally I was going to get the straps shortened and waist taken in for my bridesmaid dress, but when we shortened the straps, we she pointed out that my waist didn't need to be taken in when it was up a little higher. She could've made a bit more money with me if she took the waist in, but she was fair and helped me realize other ways! She is fair, quick, and her prices are great. Muia has fixed 4 Afghan dresses for me which ranged from: - 3 dresses making them smaller in the bust, waist, and arms including adding a belt which is pretty complicating in itself to alter but she did a fantastic job! So, I first went to Muia's when I wanted to recreate a fancy women's tuxedo coat from the 1990's for a Dickens Fair over 10 years ago. Originally, I went to another alterations place but worried that they wouldn't do the original design justice (w/a fancy wool crepe material & feminine & flattering cut). My hunch was correct b/c Muia recommended I go to SF for a similar fabric that I wouldn't be able to find in San Jose. She did a wonderful job & as I aged & grew wider, I went back to her to let out the same piece. From now on any work that requires extra finesse, I reserve for her. Just left this place, pretty disappointed! I don't live in SJ, and stopped by on Sunday or Monday to drop off my jacket for what I thought would be a pretty straightforward alteration (I just needed the sleeves shortened). The lady told me to come back on Thursday, which was fine - plenty of time I thought! I was leaving on Thursday to fly back to NYC. So I stop by today, Thursday, after 2pm, right before my flight back to New York, and it turns out she totally forgot about my jacket. She literally had no clue what I was talking about. Once she found it, she kept telling me to come back in 30 minutes - WHY would I come back in 30 minutes for an $18 alteration, when you literally had almost a week to do it? Also, if I know this is a 30 minute job, why not offer some kind of discount for wasting my time? I took my money and left. Not recommended, and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The lady is out to lunch, and there are LITERALLY tons of other places. I'm sorry I took a chance on this bootsy ass strip mall shop. read more
