I really wanted to try this place with my friends and family after my wedding when we are there next month. There are 15 of us so I figured a reservation would be best for a Saturday. I emailed to make a reservation months ago with no response after the initial e-mail, even after a few follow up e-mails. Finally decided to call, they said they were too busy to take my reservation and will call me back later. Took my phone number, no call 2 weeks later. I finally called them and tried again to make a reservation, in which they said my day was already booked with a concert, and they don't take reservations during concerts? I asked if my party could just come in and order drinks and she said no. So I guess people don't drink during the concerts? I'm sure this place is great but communication is lacking read more

My wife and I have been here 3 times now. We have always loved the food. Our personal favorite is the bangers and mash delicious every time. A close second for me is the corn beef and cabbage. There are nices views of the ocean from the outside seating area. Also live music is played quite often, twice that we have been there, just check with the restaurant. We just had our wedding reception at Mulligan's on March 20 and had an amazing time. What a beautiful venue. We were set up on the front patio and the guests enjoyed the sun setting. My guests and I couldn't say enough good things about the food - I mean the Short Ribs were so delicious. The value compared to a lot of other venues around is excellent. The servers were working hard and were attentive to my guests' needs. The bartenders were also friendly and worked hard at keeping us with drinks in our hand. Kerry, the manager was great and we were able to meet with her a week before and go over everything. My only concern was that the event planner, Julie doesn't live in Maui so she may be a bit out of touch with what is going on at the restaurant and it made me a bit nervous to book with her, but as soon as I was at the venue and met Kerry, we were at ease and able to iron out a few kinks in the contract. My only negative was how hot the place got when we were dancing inside because all the doors had to be closed after 10pm, and the no drinks on the dance floor rule - however, I know this is just the laws on Maui and nothing Mulligan's can do about - but something brides should be aware of when planning their wedding in Maui. DJ Mike was fantastic and played all of my requests. He was also able to help with all of our A/V needs, which was much appreciated. Highly recommend for your reception or for dinner and a drink! My 3rd time in Maui but first time at Mulligans and I regret not going there sooner! We went for happy hour and the Mai tai was seriously the best I've had anywhere- it tasted like it was made with fresh fruit juices. The fish tacos (which were 33% off for happy hour) were delicious and portion size was generous. Mike, I read your response to my review. I called the next day to speak with you but you never returned my call. I have heard from one of your employees that your GREED stood in the way of honesty. You knew that Willy K was not going to perform before we were seated but you chose to not tell the people as they showed up for their reservations. You ended up with a full house and you had to know that some people would have chosen to leave. We would have left and gone somewhere else for dinner. We have seen Willy K perform several times and we understand him canceling if he is not feeling well. Your employees do not think very highly of you and I can understand why. You are dishonest and this reflects on your restaurant. We will never return to Mulligans and I hope, in the future, that other people are not tricked by your dishonesty and end up with a below standard meal. You should be ashamed of yourself and you have given the restaurant a bad name. read more

The location is wonderful. It's on a hill so you get a lovely view of the ocean. Being there during sunset was a treat. The restaurant/bar is pretty big as is the outside area. There's plenty of parking. We were there on July 4th so I don't know if that was the reason for very few people there. Unfortunately, as much as I enjoyed sitting outside and watching the sunset while the kids ran around on the grass all around the restaurant I won't be back. The menu was very limited. There's very few Irish options which is why we came there, it was strange for the bar to only have 3 beers on tap. I ordered Shepard's Pie and my husband got the other Irish dish with Cabbage. Both were pretty bland. If I were the restaurant owner I would provide more menu options. I would also improve the quality/taste of the food to get more repeat clientele. Maybe local clientele is used to it and they don't care but for clientele coming from big cities with abundance of Irish food this restaurant needs to be on par. As tourists if we really like a restaurant on vacation we will go visit it 2-3 times during our trip so you can still get repeat clientele. I suggest the furniture outside is updated as well, it looks quiet beat up and all over the place (a lot of tables/chairs don't match so doesn't make for a nice aesthetic). Our wooden table looked dirty, like the dirt that's been absorbed into the wood with many uses. As a fellow business owner I gave it 4 stars to not ding the ratings. Wow on the Blue twice in one week. We went for Superbowl and also visited on 2/3/2017. The Superbowl day Ernie waited on us and took care of everything perfectly. I have visited several times and Ernie is always upbeat and friendly. My son and I went for the yummy burger and my husband had the fish and chips. All I can say is good food, good waiters, and great football makes for a fun day. My son scoped out all the other bars with TVs between Kihei and Makena and he deemed Mulligans the best place to watch his beloved Superbowl, even it the Patriots did win. ;) On our visit on 2/3, Meabh waited on us. She was equally pleasant, friendly and helpful getting us seated in just the right spot and shared the aloha spirit. Sometimes as a Kamaaina recipient the aloha spirit is not always present, but Mulligans has lots of it. Everyone is friendly and there are plenty of great seats for football and lots of trade winds. We luv this place and frequent the happy hour quite often. I luv the fish and chips. On this occasion My son had the Seafood Trio with Coconut Shrimp, Mahi and Lobster, which he thoroughly enjoyed. read more

After moving to South Kihei a few years ago, my other half and I went to Mulligan's a few times for some date nights. The service was always bad but there were a few menu items we like and the bar had a nice atmosphere. But within the past year EVERYTIME we've gone back the place has been closed for private events, which has been at least five times. It's become a joke with us now to gamble on if they'll be open or not when we go. We started calling ahead of time to make sure they were open to the public that night/day. Maybe they make more money on hosting private events, it seems more like a venue now than a restaurant. The bartenders are rude and act as if they're annoyed you're even there. They always seem to be understaffed with servers. The last time we took a chance at going it we vowed to never go again if the restaurant was closed for a private event, sure enough it was. read more

I am disappointed to write my first ever one-star review. If there was an opportunity to put a half-star I would. Why? 1.) Rude server at 9:00 p.m. 2.) The yelp deal I got was given some attitude before I had to use their computer to prove I had the deal and they then when inside my account to deactivate it. why and kind of weird? 3.) I'm not an Irish Pubber. I don't like bangers nor mash. That being said, a good bar with a very good happy hour and excellent live music is simply something that Maui needs more of. So, Mulligan's succeeds. It is out of the way, with a beautiful view of the Wailea blue course, nice sunsets and ocean. It has excellent $3 drafts from the local Maui brewery. Food is ok, not great. Live music is unexpectedly good, considering I normally find it a nuisance at best. Burger was meh - but cheap. Fish and chips about the same. Beers were excellently $3 each... and $18 of beer later the food tasted great... Hooray for Beer! read more

We came here on a Saturday afternoon to watch a football game on an obscure channel. The staff is unfailingly nice and was very attentive. They have a great selection of beers that we all really enjoyed. That said, come here for a drink and maybe snack but skip the real food. I ordered a chicken sandwich thinking you can't mess it up badly but it was still just a sad sack. Overcooked (frozen) chicken, overcooked bacon, and weird aioli - it was advertised as spicy but was actually a sour mayo/ketchup/mustard mixture. This is a warning to others who are thinking of doing a dinner show there. Do the show only. DO NOT do the dinner show. It is a rip-off. The show only was listed as $30 and the dinner show was $65. We opted for the dinner show to get better seats. However, when the dinner bill came, it included the cost of the show. On the suggested tip %, they calculated for the whole $65 per person, not just the dinner portion. That is outrageous! Also, the dinner was not worth the money; corn beef entree was too salty and the fish entree was dry. If you want to see a show there, have dinner somewhere else first and come for the show after. read more

Wanted to find a place for live music during our trip to Maui. I had done some research ahead of time and discovered Soul Kitchen was playing here on Friday evening. We decided to give it a go. It was a typical Irish Pub atmosphere with live music and several tv's. We sat right outside of where the band was playing. The band sounded good and the patrons inside the bar were dancing to every song and seemed to be having a great time. We stayed for their first set and it provided nice dinner music. I had the Irish Stew, a lamb stew with a thick Guinness enhanced broth. It was tasty; however, I do wish there were more veggies. I had 1 carrot and maybe 2 onions. Basically it was a bowl of tender lamb, gravy and a scoop of mashed potatoes. It was very flavorful and hearty but I definitely missed more veggies. Service was okay. It wasn't exceptional but I have definitely had much worse. We did have one member of our party that just could not get his water refilled for anything. Others at the table would get refills without asking yet he was somehow always skipped. It became the joke of the evening. Finally we had to ask for him to get more water. Of all the places we ate while on Maui I am not sure this is one that I would choose to return to. Possibly on a Sunday to watch some football, I think it would probably be a great place for that. read more

Why to go here... the Food. Why to not go here, if you're under 30 and here on vacation looking for a bar scene. So about 5, 25 year olds decide on this place for dinner on a Friday night while staying in Kihei. From the reviews I was expecting a fun, lively YOUNG atmosphere around 8pm on a Friday night, right? Wrong. I swear besides the staff, we were the only 20-30 year olds (swear to this). The place was full of families and older retired people. I was really surprised. The bar looked cool but once again, maybe a couple 30 year olds without families but that was it. However, the food was incredible. Large servings, high quality and everything was seasoned very well. I got the fish and chips. Delish. I also tried the BBQ ribs which were AWESOME. So 4 stars for a food restaurant place while on Maui. (but probably 1 star for "nightlife") I would maybe give it another chance later on a friday or saturday night when a bands playing. Because of the distance from Kihei, probably not. read more

Our waitress was very pleasant and soon had pints of Irish beer in our hands. The live music wasn't exactly what we were expecting (local guitar, not Irish band), but was nice just the same. One of our stops on St. Pattys...Huge lively crowd, great live band playing, & awesome bar. The party was actually taking place out on the patio area. The only complaint i had was the fact that they charged a $10 entrance fee. Mind you, this was an OUTSIDE party, and so clearly, if you didn't want to pay the fee, you simply got to enjoy the band from the OTHER side of the railing! wtf?! So what we did was we walked down to another bar across the way and ordered our drinks there instead, and then chilled by the patio area and listened to the band! Ha! read more

Somehow, someway, no matter what city/island my honey and I go to - we always end up in an Irish pub...so it was only fitting we started our vacation in Maui with a lunch at Mulligans. Our room was not ready @ our hotel upon arrival and we were starving after traveling all day and wanted a place close by, the front desk recommended Mulligans which is within walking distance from the Hotel Wailea. Gorgeous view, nice open bar and a really nice crowd there enjoying late afternoon lunch. We sat @ the bar and the bartender was very attentive. The prices on the menu were reasonable by Maui standards and there was a wide selection from traditional Irish fare to Island inspired items. We had the chowder which was very good - it had clams, shrimp, mahi mahi and even some crab in it. Just what my soul needed after being up @ 330am stateside for our long travel day. I ordered the Rock Shrimp and Crab BLT - it was a bit disappointing in terms of seasoning but once I added a little salt, pepper and a squeeze of lemon juice, it perked up. The sourdough bread it was on was very good and nice fresh romaine lettuce and thick cut bacon. The fries were excellent. My husband had the fish and chips which were done with Mahi Mahi...as soon as they set his plate down I was jealous. Amazing! Lightly battered, big pieces, the fish was so fresh...when we go back, I will be getting this - pretty cool thing: they offer a mini version of the fish and chips on their appetizer menu. They also have a good Happy Hour deal going which they post regularly on Facebook. They have live Irish music on Sunday nites, looking forward to checking that our during our stay as well! read more

Currently sitting on the patio listening to Willie K...not watching because my table is behind the stage and I can see their backs...glad I paid $65 seat. Food has been terrible through 2 courses. Got the ahi salad which was coated in Cajun spices...way to kill the fish. Ono felt like I was eating cardboard, painfully dry. Wifes bangers and braised ribs were pretty solid though, but would defiantly avoid this place on my next trip to Maui. Changed to one star after dessert. Piece of cheesecake literally was a piece sliced then cut in half, I got the front half and wife got the other...she had the back crust I had the front point, never seen anything like this in my life. read more

You may be hesitating to come to Mulligan's on the Blue, for one, because it is on a golf course and because it is an Irish bar in the middle of Hawaii. But don't let that scare you away. What this place has that many other places in the Kihei/Wailea area don't have, is quality food at very affordable prices. I asked myself countless times how they offer all their entrees for $9.00 on Tuesdays. Additionally, a live band is present everyday from 7:00 - 10:00 PM. During our visit, we were able to listen to Murray Thorne, who is a part of Mulligan's house band. And Murray sure does play some exceptional music. The layout is pretty large, with a square shaped bar that can seat 10-15 people, an indoor seating area that is covered in white tablecloths during the evening hours, and an outside lanai (balcony) that runs along the perimeter of the restaurant on two sides. The outside lanai holds another 30-40 tables, and is catered more towards the clientele who want to casually kick back and relax. The food is exceptional here, which I have to recommend if you're in the Kihei/Wailea area. Again, quality food at affordable prices. Come on Tuesdays, and it's a steal with their $9.00 entrees!! Our party of 2 ordered: - Paddy Malone's Ocean Chowder (Cup $5.00) which includes clams, mahimahi and rock shrimp New England style chowder, topped with crab meat. This chowder was the real deal with hearty pieces of clam bits, just how I like it. Creamy, and very tasty with enough seafood and pieces of potato to make you giggle with joy. - Pan Seared Fresh Catch of the Day ($24.00) - Pan seared catch of the day topped with pineapple salsa and lemon beurre blanc served with jasmine rice and seasonal vegetables. The catch of the day was opa, which is a thicker fish. The opa was well-prepared: moist and flaky. The lemon beurre blanc added a nice touch of citrus flavor to the fish, as lemon always does with seafood. The pineapple salsa accentuate the fish even more, adding a layer of refreshing pineapple bits. Even the seasoned vegetables, which included broccoli, zucchini, and carrots was a big hit. - I also had the chance to try the Four Cheese Ravioli ($22.00) which included 4 large ravioli, and 5-6 large pieces of grilled breast of chicken, organic tomato sauce, mushrooms, zucchini and fresh herbs. The chicken breast was amazing, grilled to perfection, tender and moist, and marinated with a lemon pepper based sauce. - Jimmy's Flanagan Pie ($8.00) which is a layered Ice Cream Pie with Oreo Cookie Crust, Peanut Butter, and Fudge Topping. Abosolutely divine and not heavy at all. This was an excellent way to end our meal. We found ourselves in a state of bliss, and I have to say that I absolutely adore this dessert. Service was top notch. Our waitress, Stephania, who recently moved from Santa Cruz, California, treated us like ohana. She is very laid back and personable. Sort of a surfer-chick that was the perfect addition to Mulligan's. She was a prime example of how people in Hawaii should be, carefree and laid back, yet with a warming personality. She always came by to check up on us, always enthusiastic and attentive to whatever our needs were. Dave, the manager, was also very accomodating. If you're ever interested in planning an event, bachelor party, greeting party, rehearsal dinner, reception, group dinners. You name it, he'll make sure to get what you need at a moment's notice and make sure it is exactly how you want it. That is service and the true Hawaiian aloha, where everyone is ohana. I really wish my stay in Maui was longer, because I absolutely would love to come back, especially for the Paddy Malone's Ocean Chowder and Jimmy's Flanagan Pie. Mulligan's on the Blue is AMAZING! The service is ALWAYS friendly and fun to joke around with while ordering drinks. The bartenders are even more fun to talk to. My dad and I come in here all the time and I HAVE YET TO FIND A BETTER BAR. Period. On quiet nights (Monday-Thursday) Mulligan's is nothing too special but on Friday, Saturday, and surprisingly Sunday, Mulligans is always the spot to be. The live music is unbelievable and always gets people up and dancing. Their food is also wonderful. The late night menu has killer ahi, ribs, and fish and chips. I do not have a single complaint about this place. It is THE BEST BAR I have every been to. When leaving this place, I always get a sad feeling and question whether I really have to go. If you happen to be on Maui on a Sunday night, you MUST go to Mulligan's for at least one drink. You will not be let down. read more
