I am coming here for second time now but the food quality is getting bad. I am giving two stars for the service. I ordered chaas, cheese pan bhaji and sev batata puri. Pan bhaji was not served hot so I requested if they can make it hot. The waitress just took my plate and stormed in. I was served with hot bhaji in the same plate where I stared eating in. Moreover they charge 15% service charge by default to all dine ins. I didn't have a good experience with either food quality or service. There are many good indian places in Bay Area. I came here today (5/23/2017) around 11:30. I must be the first customer as the place was empty, but soon the lunch crowd starts arriving. I ordered chicken biryani and samosas. The samosas were decent. You get two and two chutney. The biryani was actually good, until I found the first strand of hair. I didn't want to make a scene so I just scooped it out to the side and kept eating (uncomfortably). Then I got to the next hair. SOB! This place deserve a bad yelp review. The biryani is decent. Vada pav ... nothing could go wrong with this dish. It's a Indian veggi burger and it stands up with a quick fix. The second dish kolhapuri missal wasn't worth the price I paid closer to $10. That would have been alright if the few pieces of chicken had tasted good but ALAS the chicken was bone dry and SMELLY (days past its expiry I would think) The veg Frankie was soggy and the sauce was uncooked. Completely icky to eat. I've come here more than once for chaat and never had a good impression. I would have still been more forgiving if they hadn't served me smelly, spoiled chicken. Everything is so authentic here. From service to food. I was visiting near by town from NYC and craved some real fresh North Indian food and I hit jackpot here. It's a must if you are in Fremont area. My fav was vada pav. My family and I were a mix of vegetarian and non vegetarian in the group and they served us vegetarian food that was made in separate oil so there was no non veg contact, I've never known that degree of genuine service. Love their sodas and dabeli. Kashmiri soda is my favorite. Their punjabi/mughlai sabzis have been below average in multiple occasions, lacking flavor of all. This time we ordered Paneer Sizzler Platter and it was beyond horrible. They literally gave 6 pieces of BBQd paneer with raw onions and Bell peppers which were still crunchy and flavorless. The saddest sizzler I've ever had. It's called a platter but it was hardly anything beyond just the 6 pieces of paneer. I forgot to capture it but I seriously don't recommend that plate here. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE: Food is ok but not a good place to dine in. The lady at the counter is mostly interested in take-out orders and is rude. When you go to dine in, you are looking for a complete experience, not to have to walk to the counter, ask for something as basic as mint chutney/condiments to go with appetizers you ordered, only to hear "it's very busy" with a annoyed face and made to feel you are causing inconvenience, in front other customers. She did give it to me, but ruined my dining experience. They also manage their kitchen by shouting orders loudly to the chefs, audible in the entire restaurant. After several days I stopped by to pick up food, its great they are still doing takeout and delivery during Covid. I have always loved the food here. I have tried their kheema pav, shrimp koliwada, malvani fish curry, and they were all delicious. I really enjoyed their schezwan noodles from a couple of weeks ago. This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the Bay Area, Pakwan coming in second. Reason: They have the most unique Indian non veg curries - their Balti Chicken, Malvani chicken are extraordinary. their Dabeli Pav, Pav Bhaji etc are outstanding and so is their mutton curries. This is the only place where the rotis are made of pure whole wheat and not a mix of white flour and whole wheat. I only hope this place gets busier so they keep serving their awesome curries for us. Possibly the only place in the entire Bay Area to find the iconic dish Bombay Duck (a deliciously misnamed fish). All manner of Indian street food here, as well as the staples. Such an awesome place. Never saw variety of veg dishes in any of the restaurant in bay area. They have different types of veg and non veg curries. I highly recommend vada paav, paavbhaji and rabadi kulfi. we tried malvani chicken and we liked it too. We used their caterin service for function at home. Everyone liked paavbhaji and vadapaav. In almost a year since I've been back in Newark, this has become my main spot for Indian food. I don't generally stray into their Indian street food offerings, or the Indian/Chinese hybrid dishes, but their "regular" Indian food is solid. Random things that I think are awesome here: Chicken tikka masala, all of the various naans, chicken biryani, malai kofta, palak paneer, chicken korma and rogan josh. Of the more unique things here that I've not seen elsewhere, the only one I've really tried is the Dabeli. It almost looks like a slider and it comes stuffed with potatoes, peanuts and something called anar. To the uninitiated, proceed with caution as these little veggie buns are SPICY. I've done both dine-in and delivery from here and I've seen no difference in food quality either way. Service is always friendly and even when the place is packed, they generally do a good job getting everything to your table somewhat quickly. Definitely a solid 4 star spot in my opinion. read more

I am surprised as to how this place has 4 stars to start with ! Hailing from Mumbai, I was excited to see the menu with all the street dishes. We were the first ones to get there around 7pm on Sunday and it still took around 10-15 mins for someone to take our order. Ignoring that, we ordered lamb kheema paav and paav bhaji. Kheema paav was indeed authentic. Feeling excited, a bunch of us ordered the following : Chicken lollipop Kothimbir vadi Chicken kolhapuri To our dismay, everything else other than kheema paav was not as expected. Paav bhaji had great bhaji but the bread was sweet. When the owner / manager walked by our desk to ask how we are doing , I did ask him if they used sweet bread. He mentioned , it's sourdough bread. I asked him again and he says we never use sweet bread. Now as far as my foodie taste buds go, I am sure it was one of those sweet bread loafs one can get at Safeway but he didn't want to agree. Furthermore, kothimbir vadi was half fried (mostly not defrosted properly before the process). Hence, stale ! Again, the owner faked enquiring on the same with his cook and disappeared conveniently :) Chicken lollipop was defintely unique. It was smeared in schezwan sauce ( like how buffalo style wings are smeared) and the sauce was somewhat tangy. Killed it !!! RIP : Mumbai Chicken lollipop. It also had coriander as garnishing (whaaaa?) Needless to say, that was my first and last visit here. read more
