    4. Vegetable jal friji and 2. Garlic Naan
    Rishi J.

We visited this restaurant for lunch on Sunday afternoon. We ordered Jalfrazi and garlic naan. The food was good. We also ordered Masala chai ( tea) , tea was not as expected and not boiled enough. when we reported that tea was not good. They said they boiled it and other guests like it. They didn't charge for tea but i would still not recommend getting tea here.

Wonderful local gem for your Indian cuisine cravings. Came here with 2 girlfriends and 2 entrees and 2 naans were more than enough for us. Service was quick and food was delicious, not salty at all. We even had leftovers to take back home. We ordered their classic chicken masala and palak paneer which came with rice.

Channa masala could use more spice and salt but good

I love this place. For vegetarians they offer a variety of dishes and appetizers. Good quality paneer which is hard to find. Naan is good also and rice including vegetable beriyani which did have too much pepper or chili for both my boyfriend and I. One day we will try the desserts. Definitely recommend.

    1. Vegetable Samosa
    Sharila S.

I ordered takeout from Mumbai Palace. My order arrived promptly and everything was included. For the appetizer, I ordered the vegetable samosa. It came with two samosas as well as chutneys and pickles (the pickle was tasty!). The samosa was crispy and the filling was good. 4/5 For the main, I ordered lamb vindaloo, which came with a side of rice. The vindaloo was spicy (which I love), but the flavor was a bit one note and too tomatoey for my tastes. 3/5 I ordered garlic naan on the side. It was okay, a little dry. 3/5 All in all, it was a solid meal.

Nothing crazy about the ambiance - it has the feel of a local neighborhood place. Looked like they were short staffed on a late Sunday night as well since many tables were left uncleared. But the waiter, who was also running the host stand and in/out of the kitchen, quickly cleared one for us. Very friendly and apologetic. Standard prices for an Indian restaurant, expect around $15 for a Chicken entree. It does come with rice, which is nice. The chicken tikka masala flavor was a little underwhelming - it was creamy but didn't pack much flavor. Samosa ($6) - this comes with two big samosas and lots of sauces! Honestly pretty impressed with this appetizer. Plating was great - it had fresh cucumbers as well. Perfectly crispy, savory interior.

It made such a strong impression on my friend that she demanded we eat at this restaurant. The restaurant was packed, but we managed to get a spot at the bar and watch the Mets game. The food was immaculate, and we ordered the Hot Crab Dip, Garlic Biscuits, and I ordered "The Connecticut." All of this arrived in no time, and we will be returning soon, this time with a reservation. Hehehe.

It's got a solid, nautical feel that gives you enough brass and wood to feel like a real lobster shack. They've got a generous stretch of outdoor seating for when the weather is nice, and inside, the music sits at a good volume. Then comes the food. I started with the clam chowder. It's good ...comforting, rich, well-made ......even if it's a little light on the minced clams. I caught myself digging around with my spoon, searching for a few more chunks of clam in the creamy broth, but I forgave it because the flavor was fantastic. Main event: the Maine lobster roll. Now look, I've eaten lobster rolls all over the Northeast..and a few other places. When you order a lobster roll, you're looking for flavor and simplicity. Red Hook's roll is good. The lobster is fresh. But here's the thing: at an overall tab running around $80 a head, you expect a top-tier entry into the culinary lobster roll pantheon. Instead, it lands on the smaller side of the spectrum. Worse, the kitchen holds back on the seasoning. Lobster is sweet and rich, sure, but it needs a little help...... a hint of herbs, or just a generous hand with the salt/pepper to elevate it from good to great. It's a good roll, but when the check landed, I couldn't help feeling a bit let down. To finish, I looked at the dessert choices. Options were slim, but I ordered the flourless chocolate cake and it did the job. I'll definitely give this place a second visit and possibly try some of the other items on their menu. It was the $252.86 plus a TIP of $45.20! I immediately returned to discuss the discrepancies. The tip that was supposed to be $38 was now $45.20! The waitress then said she would credit my account. My question was how did this happen! All three waitresses stated it was not them and that the machine did this! How was this possible? Not one of them took responsibility for the discrepancies! Had I not looked at my bank statement then I would never have known that I would be tipping her twice! I then decided to leave to explain to my mom! Then the short Indian (I think) than sarcastically stated "Oh so now you're not going to tip us" Really! I drove 10 blocks and I NEVER ONCE STATED THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO TIP HER! I merely was going to let my mom know what happened and then TIP her! Note* I was going to give her a $100 cash TIP! Had she given me the REAL receipt with the $45 TIP then I would have given her $50 CASH but since she only produced the REAL receipt after I came back (how ironic) and told her she charged the wrong amount, she would have received $100 TIP. But since the short Indian waitress made that slick remark, she did not receive anything! After the disrespect and blaming the machine and giving me a fake receipt? I decided to leave! SD put together a really nice menu and I already knew what I wanted, which usually takes me a lot of time to decide, but the Sweet Baddies decided to order everything on the restaurant week menu for us to share! So, I am going to give a brief (real brief) of each. I'm going to start with the drinks because they were superior. I ordered a French 76, which was sublime. Raw oysters with a mignonette- good for a first time eating a raw oyster; Steamed shrimp- big, fresh and delicious; Grilled oysters- yummy but a little skimpy; Smoked trout Fish dip- my favorite and because we all loved it, we discussed replicating it at home and which brand of tinned fish was best Chinese broccoli salad- was okay; Hush puppies- the aunts liked. I'm not a fan so I skipped; Fry basket- delicious; Shrimp loaf- delicious, but not $25 delicious; There were some more dishes that were not as memorable but good. For return visit, I would definitely order drinks and smoked trout dip. Because they seem to update their menu, who knows what the main would be... Nevertheless, service was impeccable, the ambience was really chill and had a sexy vibe. although the place was full and really busy, it didn't seem that loud.
