I'm not sure why the IHOP in Springfield went out of business, but my guess is Mundy's might have had a hand in it. Biscuits and gravy are top notch, It's ok to lick the bowl, when the gravy is this good. Hash browns are supper crispy on the outside, hand cut potatoes are put on grill then dipped in the fryer, supper brown and delicious. Mundy's diner has the look and feel of your small town diner, and it delivers just that. It's a small dining room, we were able to still find a table at the lunch hour and service was prompt and friendly. The menu is typical diner food, don't expect an upscale meal based on the reviews, but the food is hot and fresh - if not mostly fried, or sandwiches, but being a health nut I was able to find an item or two that fit the bill for me. My picky tween declared Mundy's the best breakfast she'd ever had and repeatedly asked to return... all the way from Indiana. From the kids pancakes to the Truckers breakfast special, all the breakfast dishes were a hit. I ordered a deluxe cheeseburger, which was a humongous portion of exactly what you'd expect at a diner. Service staff was on top of everything. The only (insignificant) disappointment is that the coke is canned, not fountain. Small place with nice size portions. The decor inside is cute 50's diner with about 8or do tables. We sat at the booth by the door. Loved our biscuit sandwiches with potatoes, French toast, and breakfast combo. The gravy was a generous portion enough for two other people to try. read more

Stop here on a road trip to have lunch and they were busy so seemed to be a popular place. We ate out side in a yard setting which was very nice. They even had a small play area for kids, we ordered the small version of pancakes and they were as big as the plate . We could of shared if we had known. Stopped at this little place on our way through looking for some hometown cooking. Loved it! The decor was cute and the service was great. DH had biscuits and gravy and a side of bacon. First thing he noticed was lots of sausage chunks in the gravy. The flavor however was meh. Bacon was crisp and good. I had a BLT with a side of hashbrowns that was great. I forgot to ask for crispy hashbrowns, but that's the way they came. Best I have ever had in a restaurant. The place is very small so there is rarely an empty table. I'm so glad we stopped there. Oh, our waitress mentioned that everybody else in the place was related. I think they were Mundy's kids and relations. read more

Bottom line: The nicest people serving the best breakfast food. No matter where you are staying in the Springfield, Ohio area, it is worth the drive to eat at Mundy's. Watch out for the LARGE pancakes, they truly are large. Two cakes could serve a table of four! They are delicious, exactly as pancakes should be. The same is true of the made to order omlettes. We love to try local business and were camping nearby. Stopped at 9:30 on a Sunday morning with 7 people. The place is small but the staff bent over backward to get us a table next to each other. There is nothing more satisfying than trying a place out on a whim and being completely blown away by it. This little diner is exactly just that! We were seated right away, and the staff were super friendly. I ordered a typical egg combo breakfast, that came with a little bit of everything and wow, the portions were huge and absolutely delicious. parking can be a bit sketchy as there are literally no parking spaces, only street parking, but that is not the restaurants fault. If you just want good ol greasy spoon guilty pleasure breakfast food, this is a great place. I don't normally indulge in this kind of food, frequently eat vegetarian and dairy free ect for health reasons. but when I do want a nostalgic breakfast I come here because it's simple and made right. This place is famous for their biscuits and gravy. I think it's an acquired taste, but a touch of the gravy with the fried potatoes is perfect! I've never like bacon much, but theirs is good. Not gummy. I always get French toast loaded with FRESH strawberries! Nobody does that anymore!!! Coffee is that standard diner tar that Vietnam vet grandpas like if you understand my meaning, but when it's what your expecting and you just want some caffeine you, it's kind of comforting lol. And it's always piping hot! This was the only place I'd risked getting a meal out during the pandemic because it's not got 89 people in there at once, and the booths have this plastic sheet between them to keep you safe. Oh, and the booths are big and comfy! Only, only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because the last time I was here, my sister was served moldy cake. So maybe steer away from that. But every thing you get made hot is fresh. So definitely come eat at a small business! I come from a German immigrant family, and while we've never acclimated to a lot of America's customs, diners are one we love. Outstanding find in Springfield. Our party of 5 ordered various breakfast and lunch meals. 3 of us ordered burgers and fries (The Frisco, Deluxe Cheeseburger, and the Mushroom Swiss.) All were cooked perfectly and the fries were fresh cut and hot when served. One person ordered the Truck Driver special. Huge breakfast combo served hot and fresh. Highly recommend. A cute little place. The hubs and I were checking out some houses in the area and found this place for brunch. He had the hash (which was homemade!), eggs, potatoes, and toast. I had eggs, potatoes, a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and gravy could have been a meal all on its own - I don't think the flour was cooked out - but it was tasty enough to warrant a second trip. A hidden little gem near Springfield Ohio! It was almost 1:00 pm in the afternoon and my husband wanted breakfast... went on yelp and saw this diner but wasn't too sure what to expect. You get a lot of homemade style food for a more than reasonable amount of money. The sausage gravy was the best I've ever had. Fresh fruit with very well made pancakes and French toast with the right egg mixture. I sampled quite a few things there. The bacon was a good quality and thickness, not the paper thin, over cooked bacon you get at a Denny's or IHOP. Pancakes are good without syrup so and just fresh fruit. Coffee could be a little bit stronger, but it was still good. It's just personal preference. Parking is limited because of the lot size, so you may want to park across the street. read more
