I know this is "all you can eat" and there shouldn't be a high expectation for quality but we chose the lower tier option and the selection looked promising but it took a turn. One plate of brisket was great then the ribeye for the shabu came out, cooked it and we at it then spit it out. It was the most gamey, toughest, and old tasting meat I've ever put in my mouth. The weird part is that for the second round it a was great marbled cut and tasted good then the third time we got the same rotten tasting one. My friends wanted seafood in there shabu shabu so we selected that option as well. First you get your meats of like two rounds. Then the server offered to give us shabu shabu hot pot to get going. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. We had a party of seven and chose the $37 per person menu, yet none of us could even finish the first round because the food quality was so poor. The ingredients did not appear fresh. The vegetables looked as though they had been sitting out for days, the sauce station was unclean and poorly maintained despite the restaurant not being busy, and the hand rolls looked nothing like the photos on the menu. They were overwhelmingly filled with rice, with very little of the advertised ingredients. It became easy to understand why the restaurant was nearly empty on a Sunday evening. The one positive aspect of our visit was the service--the staff was attentive, courteous, and did their best throughout our meal. That said, food quality and cleanliness are non-negotiable. Honestly, this was a really disappointing experience. The meats were just okay- the beef belly was probably the best of what we tried, but overall the meat quality felt a bit dry. The real issue was the service. Our waiter was nice, but it was extremely slow and frustrating. We had to wait 20 minutes just to get our grill changed while we were still eating, which completely ruined our appetite. On top of that, it took 15 minutes just to get our stove turned on because the waiter wasn't paying attention to our table. Also, we asked for rice paper and the server said it was at the self service station. It was not, and we didn't have the patience for the server to come back and tell them it's not. They were clearly short-staffed, and while I understand it was a holiday, that doesn't excuse making customers wait around like that. There were multiple times when I had to get up to ask the server for service. Everyone around us seemed frustrated too. even the table next to us was upset about the service. The BBQ grill also tended to char the food quickly, and I wish they provided a little oil or butter to help prevent sticking and burning. Mura Japanese BBQ and Shabu was offering a $21.95 Shabu-only menu and a group of us wanted to check it out last November. I called ahead to reserve a table since it was a Saturday evening and requested 4:30 pm to beat the dinner crowd. We did have a party of 8 after all. After walking in through their little mini market, we were led to the back where a large party would sit. We were technically three different families dining together, so the unusual set up really threw us off. There were two spots for the induction burners for the hot pots, but they were not centered to the table. They were rather off-centered, making it really difficult for those sitting on the outer edge of the table to reach the hot pot. We knew this was going to be an issue, so we decided to move to two separate tables. The hot pots were still not centered, but we made it work. However, this feature alone gave everyone a thumbs down right off the get go. (I'm guessing that their usual menu includes both BBQ and Shabu, so everyone just does both and it would be less of an issue.) Each table put in their orders separately. However, different servers brought out the protein and they could not tell us which protein it was in addition to getting it mixed up within the two tables. We could not tell if we were getting all the things we ordered or not. There were only 6 options of meat for this special menu - Angus Brisket, Angus Beef Toro, Beef Ribeye, Beef Short Rib, Natural Pork Belly, and Lamb Shoulder. Despite this, the staff had no idea what was what, nor did the plates differentiate them. The self service veggie, noodles, and condiments bar was sparse from the get go. It was also never replenished the whole time we were there. For example, they had minimal bok choy when we got there and there was none when we left. It was never refilled. The only highlight was the shaved ice machine. The kids loved it and had a great time with it. The bowls and plates for the self service bar were hidden underneath, so you can tell everyone was looking for them. We also needed other dish ware that wasn't available in the self service area, but was on other empty tables so we had to help ourselves to those. It was pretty busy by the time we left and the place was filling up, so they don't have an issue with a lack of customers. Love that they can easily split checks with no issue. Overall, Mura did not impress us. The table set up didn't work for our party unfortunately. The service was a hot mess and the lack of refilling basic things was a downer too. read more

Eventually we get seated. So the name is confusing. It's a Japanese restaurant but it's actually a Korean AYCE :/ which I'm fine with :) Now to the important stuff. Our grills were burning for such a long time, and we were waiting for such a long time to get them changed/replaced. The salmon and tuna were okay. I thought the crab was pretty decent. But if you look at the picture, it's pretty "meh." KBBQ Also okay. The meat isn't the freshest, so definitely add salt or sauces. The pork belly was good after I cooked it to a crisp. The beef bulgogi was alright too. Hard no on the beef brisket. I ordered two just in case, but it definitely tasted like an older batch. Hot Pot We got the Mala and the Sukiyaki. This was my favorite thing here. Adding your own vegetables from the bar was fun, and both broths had decent flavor. Vegetable / Sauce Bar Here's the unfortunate reality of why the late-night special is so cheap: they don't really restock the bar. Mushrooms, cabbage, and spinach were available. But items like rice cakes, house salad, and other things were empty. That said, it was still an alright selection. Dessert It's self-serve shaved ice. I've never seen that before. There are little mango boba and mochi toppings. I thought it was cute. Would I come again? No. There are plenty of spots in Las Vegas that do more than one concept well. After posting my original review, the store manager reached out a few days later to discuss what happened during our first visit. I genuinely appreciated her taking accountability, explaining what was going on behind the scenes, and acknowledging that the experience we had was not acceptable. She asked us to give the restaurant another try after making changes to her team and operations. My partner and the same two friends returned on 01/11, and the difference was night and day. We were greeted by the store manager herself, who walked us in, spoke with us, and again apologized for our previous experience. That alone set a much better tone. We were served by Sid, and we were honestly relieved to have a different server this time around. Sid was fantastic. He checked on us consistently, communicated clearly, changed our grill promptly when needed, and made sure food came out in a timely manner. Not once did we experience long waits, forgotten items, or the confusion that defined our first visit. Everything flowed the way it should at a JBBQ restaurant. Our group ordered the Wagyu Lover option, exactly the same way we did during our first visit, which made the comparison even more telling. This time, we didn't have to flag anyone down or wait excessively. Sid stayed on top of everything and interacted with us in a way that felt genuine and professional. Because of this visit, we can confidently say the issues we experienced before were not food-related, but operational and staffing-related and it's clear that changes have been made. We had a great time overall and left feeling heard and taken care of. Thank you to the store manager for following up, taking accountability, and making the effort to correct what went wrong. Lots of new stuff on the walls/decorations. The main difference in the restaurant is that now it calls itself a Japanese BBQ place, versus a Korean one. And it now has a hot pot setup, with a DIY section for the veggies/noodles and other add-ons to a hot pot. Pretty neat. We opted for the mid-tier and it was fine. They forgot a couple of our orders (the steamed egg and shumai) so that was disappointing. All the other foods tasted as we remembered them. On a side note... the music was too much, especially for lunch. I understand that people like K-pop (or whatever that was) but it was really irritating at lunchtime. Like thumping loud. When our soup was low in the shabu, they don't offer to fill it for you and you have to ask despite them passing by and being able to see it. The ambiance is terrible. At one point they were singing happy birthday to a colleague in the kitchen and you can hear them in the restaurant. The music choice was so horrible that it was the reason we wanted to be out of there as early as possible. Every song had explicit content and was blasted loudly creating an unpleasant atmosphere. We have come here several times in the past and even brought several friends before always boasting about the food and the fun atmosphere. Recently took my wife for our 8 year anniversary only to find that the menu has changed, and some of our favorite items were no longer available. Some of the items in the toppings bar were empty. The hand roll we ordered was filled mostly with rice and some crab and only one roll had tempura in it. I am not sure if this is only temporary due to economic hardship, but I certainly hope not.
