September 3, 2024 Food was okay I had the salmon with vegetables and rice. Rice was wet soggy but I didn't really want it anyway. Salmon was bland as could be just added a hair of sauce so I had to season it. Soup was good forget exactly which one. Ambience is ok. Music every night. Parking was easy but full - no valet on a Tuesday like everyone else is complaining about. Music was not amazing but ok at least it wasn't annoying country music or some other junk. Crowd outside not so great. A weird strange mix of adult couples and super young couples. Both adult and young rude and self absorbed really unfriendly crowd. Some random cowboy looking guy walking around weirded me out gives off that stink vibe. Servers not so great. The hostess seated us very quickly at an outdoor table which we requested. Unfortunately, we didn't realize until it was too late that people at the bar could smoke, and we were hit with cigarette smoke for our entire meal. The people seated at the bar were some of the most obnoxious people we have had the misfortune of sitting next to in a while. In hindsight, I wish we had asked to move to a table farther from the outdoor bar. The wait staff was friendly but slow to take our order and it took a really long time to get our food and the place was far from packed. I would however come back because we were all very happy with the food that we got. The service was incredible and I forgot the guy who was singing but he could sing!!! Irish pubs have always been one of our favorite go to places and Murphy's pub was way above average. Nice down to earth local spot. We were warmly greeted and and found a booth in a quieter corner (there were several TVs going ). It was restaurant week and we decided on the $15 lunch special which included a filet mignon with garlic herb butter and baked potato and fresh green beans. The soup of the day was cream of broccoli which was thick,rich and delicious. The filet mignon's were cooked exactly as ordered and they were thick and juicy with a nice texture. The herbed, garlic butter was a perfect complement to the steak. The green beans were crisp and not overcooked. The baked potato had some kind of coating on it which was a really nice touch. We really enjoyed the friendly service and I can guarantee that we will be back to sample the extensive menu it in the future. read more

Came here for dinner on a Monday night and sat at the bar. This is definitely a solid place to go for locals and for visitors. It was unseasonably cold so they had the fireplace on which makes it so cozy!!! Plenty of seating inside, bar or outside at the bar or firepits. Happy hour until 7. I ordered the soup and salad and added on the sliders which was a special. My husband had the bangers and mash with green beans. My husband "let" me taste the green beans but that was all I got. Delicious! They were so good! He liked his meal too....that's what he told me. Salad and soup were good. Shrimp and corn chowder. More corn than shrimp but still good. The sliders were just ok. Bland. No flavor that made you go "These are soooo good." But good enough to eat. There is something for everyone on the menu. Staff is always friendly and they seem to enjoy working with each other. read more

Murphy's will forever have a special spot in my heart. I've spent countless Saturday mornings and Thursday nights here with my old running group. When I moved to the Oceanfront neighborhood I also made this my go to spot to just have an affordable drink and quick eats with friends. They are home to a $2 32oz mimosa which has made me useless on several Saturday afternoons. I'd describe their breakfast food as "pretty good." It's really affordable- especially compared to nearby spots. Service can be hit or miss. They have a few servers who are some of the best at the beach and then a few others who just.... aren't. But just keep drinking and you'll have a great time. I haven't had too much of their dinner menu, but I've gotta give a shoutout to their oysters. They get them locally which I would have never known since it's an Irish pub. Seafood just isn't something I'd think to order, but I love that they take their location by the beach into consideration when building their menu. They have one of my favorite patios- it's pup friendly! Two of the tables have a built in firepit. It may not be overlooking the beach, but you can still get some great people watching in during the summer. During COVID they also have a big outdoor tent for semi-outdoor seating. They have parking in their lot, obey the no parking signs from the business next door. They'll tow you in a heartbeat. If their lot is full there metered street parking and a parking garage diagonal from Murphy's. Overall one of my favorite spots at the beach. The price is right, the atmosphere is relaxed, locally owned and operated. read more

First time my husband said, I'd give them 5 Stars! We enjoyed everything. The food was delicious and came out hot and fresh. The wings were tasty and on special so we got plenty to bring some home. We both enjoyed the cottage fries. At most places they are too thick but these were crispy and thin. Outstanding according to my husband! His Rueben was hot, crispy and delicious, too! My shrimp tacos were stuffed with plenty of shrimp and toppings as well. Very tasty, and the chips were crispy and fresh. I really enjoyed the extra kick the salsa had. I decided to try the Irish egg rolls, and what a treat. You could really taste the corned beef and all the extras, and the dipping mustard was a nice dip to go with them. Our waitress was wonderful. Very friendly, helpful and attentive. And, from PA just like us! For those who want to watch sports, plenty of TVs with games on. Darts, corn hole, as well. Indoor and outdoor seating, too! Excellent bartender named Evan. This bar was the liveliest, busiest, friendliest and most fun bar we went to in Virginia Beach. There was a happy hour til 7 pm and trivia games going on while we were there. We were here in February, other places we went to were quiet - however this place was full of life - service was prompt, and our bartender approachable, down to earth and informative. I had a nacho plattter w some nice, tasty chili on top, as well as the usual cheese, tomatoes, peppers, sour cream. Good value for the price. read more

We had an Irish wake for my grandmother the other day at Murphy's pub. They accommodated our group without issues. Their Irish eggroll is amazing! I had the fish and chips and they were very good. We stopped in here after failing to properly plan for date night at 9pm at the oceanfront on a weeknight. There weren't many places open, so we decided to check out Murphy's as a sort of "last resort" since we figured it was more of a bar scene. We were given the option of indoor or outdoor seating. We chose outdoor, but the only open tables were in the back section. This ended up being in our favor since there weren't any other guests seated here, but we weren't able to hear the live music. Our server was very nice and on top of things throughout our meal. I got the nachos and my boyfriend got the salmon entree. The nachos were nothing special. I paid extra for the salsa which was called homemade, but it didn't pack any flavor for me. The chips were nice and salty, but the cheese tasted a bit saucy and artificial. We both liked his salmon. Overall, this wasn't a bad meal, but I wouldn't go back if I had other options. read more

I ordered the fish and chips and they were cooked perfectly. The cottage fries are a nice touch. We had Shepard's pie and wolfed it down before we touched our fish. I overheard the servings for mimosas that they make during brunch are fire so of course, I had to come to see what that was about. Well, there was no lie about it! The breakfast we ordered was pretty basic, nothing to rave about. Add to that, every other time we show up the servers seem so annoyed about having to serve anyone. Don't get me wrong, I understand that most people in the service industry are burnt out at this point, however, it is a little bit of an uncomfortable feeling when you can tell before the waitresses walk up to your table. On a very, busy, busy St Patrick,s evening which is the Super Bowl for Irish Pub,s about 7PM the inside seating was going to be over 2 hour wait, so the hostess helped to seat Deborah and I outside on the patio, it was rather cold due to the wind which is understandable, we didn,t get our server,s name, but did meet another young man named Tom who was very helpful in taking our picture for us. We shared Fish & Chips also Spinach and Artichock dip app.Deborah had a white zinendal wine,and I had Michelob Ultra beer. The meal and app were huge and delicious enough for us to share and left overs to take back to our room. Also, with Deborah and I beingand senior ladies dressed for the St Patrick,s day holiday the other patrons and staff truly showed genuine love and respect for both of us, which we appreciate very,much. We chose Murphy's because it was close to our hotel and had overed outdoor seating. When we arrived we found a tent with additional outdoor seating- and a TV (for sports, of course)! Mid week for an early dinner we found no problem getting a table. We were pleasantly surprised to find baked chicken and vegetables on the kids menu!!! I had an Irish Reuben sandwich and loved it!
