Okay...if your in Cherry Grove and want a bar on the beach with music this is your only choice. And it just happens to be great choice. They open early and serve a kick ass breakfast. Great mostly local dive bar. Few Harley guys. Decent drinks for a decent price. Open are back patio that allows smoking but no smoking inside. Nice clean restrooms. Now the staff, they make the joint. Nice, helpful and a "pinch of sass" and humor! Pretty decent live music. All in all - they serve you without a shirt and shoes - think "vacation". read more

Can't comment on the food or service bc we never made it in. We were between this place and Snooky's (right next door to each other) and were going to look at the menu for both. Pulled up into a space (BTW parking is a pain in the arse). Just got out of the car and an employee sitting on the corner of Murphy's says "you going to Murphy's?". I barely got "Snookys or...." out of my mouth and he quickly responded "can't you read the sign?". Moved to the pay lot and enjoyed a great meal @ Snooky's. read more

Great music on a Friday night, and the place is crowded even in the off season. The place is definitely for those who are younger and need a cozy loud bar for young adults. I ignored the political views for the sake of my own sanity here, but the food was delicious and simple . The drinks were great but the bartender didn't know how to make a melon ball so I was slightly disappointed but when told how to make it, it was amazing! read more

I must say that I have enjoyed reading these other comments and wish I had read them before going. We saw the Trump flag flying when we came into town and decided to check out the place while we were here. The F**k off tshirts worn by the staff was a bit much. We both were tired and only had one beer and both of us had steak philly sandwiches and fries. I got food poisoning and my husband had something but not as bad as what I dealt with. I think I will be trying the nice new place next door next time I come. If you want good service and a good place to eat, try Hurricanes nearby instead. read more

The 35-year-old Justin Bieber wannabe bartender was so unpleasant and hammered that I will never be back. Asked for my friends ID 5 times, forgot to ask for payment 3 times, and spilled cups over the entire bar. He was so drunk and rude that my entire group will be going somewhere else tomorrow. Just wanted to write a little review on one of my favorite places at the beach Murphy's. Since new management the menu has changed and the food is great and much better quality. Yes there may be days when they are very crowded and it may take you a little bit to get a beer or a drink but they have 2 bars one outside and the other inside and they have just updated all TVs and recently deep cleaned. Live music on most nights and sometimes during the day. One of the locals favorite spots. read more

Stayed at the hotel next door and walked over here both nights. It's a great local bar! Drinks were reasonably priced and the food was good. They had pool tables, a dart board and golden tee. Lots of things to do. The Carolina burger was delicious and we also ordered bacon cheese fries. The only recommendation I would have is to change the ranch dressing. We were not a fan of it, but other than that it was great! Can't wait to come back! read more

Bartenders are great but waitress staff is rude and ignore unless you are a local.

First time there & it's a pretty cool place. Just walk in and seat yourself wherever was out of the ordinary for me but it was fine once you were noticed. Food was awesome and super fresh. Prices are great. Queso is unlike any I've ever had!! read more

My boyfriend and I have been once. We had a great time... the drinks were great and the service was quick and friendly. We only had nachos and they were good so I can't say much about the food. Nachos are pretty easy to fix. It was refreshing to be in a conservative atmosphere for a change. I get sick of always having to be "politically correct" because the values of so many people have gone down the tubes. We are supposed to be comfortable around people who do things we think are WRONG, or too bad for us. How about you go where your kind is and let us have a good time where our kind is for a change? read more

What to say...what to say... I have been visiting this very bar and restaurant since it was HOTOs (Harold's On The Ocean, for you old timers) --hadn't been back to Myrtle Beach for a few years and this week had my family vacation here only to see it had turned into MOTOs (Murphy's On The Ocean). We decided to give it a shot. The first night, my father brought all of us (*very* grown adults) to play pool. We've recently learned that SC has a very strict ID-ing policy, but the bartender ID'd us all once for our first drink, as bartenders typically do. I went to get another round during our pool game and they said (different guy than the bartender) that he needed 3 IDs. I collected my ID, my boyfriend's, and then brought our father who is SIXTY ONE YEARS OLD to the bar. They would not serve him. After a bit of a back and forth, the bartender decided he looked over 21 ;) but she was in an awkward situation because this other bartender (the man making the hassle) was making her nervous....needless to say, we didn't stay much longer. Second day, my father goes to get us some pina coladas, $8 per drink. Completely rude service. He tips $5 to not even get a thank you. Third day. I *know* we shouldn't do it, but we decided to give MOTOs a THIRD and FINAL chance. My boyfriend and I go in to order a beer and food. We tell her our order. We wait about 40 minutes and then my boyfriend and I begin to realize she never went to the computer to put our order in and is now drunk and has left the bar to go dance around. We inquire about the food and she plays dumb, going to look for the ticket but ultimately admits she never put the food in. I'm a waiter as well, I still tip on the beer hoping this place will turn around for...the NEXT TIME. Yes, I think now I am considered foolish--but we are at the beach and I am with my little brother and boyfriend and we are *so* hungry. I go to order $10 chicken tenders and fries. Firstly, another 20 minutes wait for food which was the *most* bearable thing that has happened, but served with no sauce (getting ranch there is quite the trip, I'll have you know) but also the smallest portion--most rubbery--clearly frozen grocery store food I have ever had. Utterly disgusting, even my 8 year old brother hated it. All in all, a bunch of Southern drunks who overcharge are running a mess of a bar. We are locals and stop there for lunch every weekend and tip very well. We walked in and sat 10 minutes nobody came over to serve and walked past us repeatedly like we were invisible. Never going back easy enough to cross the street and eat elsewhere. One waitress decided to install new umbrellas instead of customer service. read more

Have a place in Cherry Grove that I've been coming to for years and always loved the walk down to the former Hoto's. Used to be a great local dive with good food and good service. If you want to be completely ignored and served not so great food...this is the place for you! We gave this place two chances since it was within walking distance of our resort and not many other options nearby, but next time we'll Uber elsewhere! The 1st visit the server was friendly but a little slow to get to us during lunch. Brought very overdone fried pickles and a somewhat tasteless chicken club wrap. Hubby thought the Philly cheesesteak was decent. The next time we went during happy hour. Nice deck overlooking the ocean and they had a DJ so the place seemed like it was happening. BUT, we sat at a high table right by the bar and not one of the wait staff even attempted to greet us. All the tables weren't even full...not that busy! My husband finally went inside to get a couple drinks. After we finished those he was able to flag down a waitress. About 10 minutes later she came back to say we'd get our drinks quicker if we went inside to get them ourselves! We looked at each other like "are you kidding me?!?!" as we witnessed bar maids taking shots and dancing with patrons we walked out because they were obviously too busy to serve us. read more

Horrible service. The worst I've had in a long time. The reason I gave this two stars is because the food was good. Our waitress was rude and was hardly ever found when we needed something. When she brought the check she dropped it off and walked away before we could say we needed it separated. I asked the boss to help and when the boss gave the check to her and said to separate it she said "are you f***ing serious?" I guess she didn't know I was watching and saw this.
