This cute store is our dog Simba's favorite place to visit on our walks downtown, for good reason. They are always so happy to see him, and he loves picking out his favorite treat or toy! They have a surprisingly diverse amount of items available. Treats, toys, and accessories can be expensive, but it's pretty expected of a local pet store like this, featuring a lot of small brands. Only complaint I have is that we paid a lot of money (I think $5--10) for a small frozen yogurt cup for our pup. There was no creaminess at all and it ended up all just being a giant chunk of ice -- unfortunately it was a waste of an already expensive treat. When we rescued a dog in January, some thoughtful friends gave us a generous bag of goodies from Murphy's Paw. I knew this store existed, but I never had a reason to go in until now. It's a small pet boutique, perfect for popping in while shopping in downtown Ptown. Some items are a little pricey, but most treats are reasonable. The pricier gear and accessories are high quality and unique in comparison to the selection at your standard pet store chain. We were so pleased that they had great customer service AND water for our thirsty rhinoceros-dog. I also want to add, that the fleece vest we were gifted from here, is so easy to put on, it Velcros around his cement brick staffy bod! It kept him warm all winter, and held up in the washer. He seems to enjoy wearing it, maybe it feels like a swaddle wrap? This is one we'll purchase again for sure. We won't hesitate to stop back in very soon for thoughtful gifts, tasty treats, and needed wardrobe additions. The air fresheners are very effective to battle tough pet orders in the home or car. I got the Holiday scent and it was a warm, spicy, and lovely fragrance. Ps sorry to talk sh%t, BUTT (haha) their green earth friendly dog poop bags, are definitely better than the others we've tried. Cute little pet store in downtown Pleasanton full of adorable toys and yummy (through the eyes and nose of my dog) treats. Saw some really pretty raincoats and vests but wished they had the more sizes (M) as many of the available sizes left were either for small or large dogs. I picked up a stuffed gnome doll and I'm so in love - obviously it's for me more so than my dog son. Reasonable prices and friendly service - love it. read more

What's not to love? Kimchi enjoyed exploring, Dean and Jay were the dream team and they had lots of treats, toys, leashes, harnesses, bowls and of course the Bark Potty I came for. The selection was great and the prices are competitively priced. Dean was kind enough to help us find a no pull harness for Kimchi and fitted him for us. He was very patient with our wiggle worm. Dean genuinely loves his customers and store. It was very apparent that he takes pride in his shop and employees, he proudly shared that all of the baked goods are created by one of his employees. One of the things that I found refreshing was super simple but no one has ever offered to close his shop doors so Kimchi didn't run out while he was off leash. Every since i got my fourlegged child (which was 4yrs ago) i always come here every month of May to get his "birthday" cake and let him pick a toy as well for his gift. Lol! Besides having a clever name, Murphy's Paw is a cute space, with lots of nicely displayed cat and dog stuff. That includes food and other treats in the back. Some of it was a bit "much" like the small dog version of Baby Bjorn. What's next, a Inglesina Stroller for Gayle's yappy chihuahua mix?. At the same time, what really impressed me was the practically and value pricing of their goods, and the kind staff in the store making the sale. I came in here about a month ago in need of an emergency 49ers jersey for my new dog (he was begging for it). I called ahead of time to make sure they had some in stock and the attendant was very nice! It was about 5 minutes to closing-and I arrived right when they should have locked the doors. There was a girl standing there staring at me but she didn't say anything. Decided on some cat treats but again when I went to pay, there was no hello or greeting. The cashier took my item to be purchased and rang me up. I paid and there was no thank you from the cashier. Irritated by the lack of simple communication in a retail store. This is my sisters favorite little pet boutique store. I can see why. They have a ton of selection of varied treats for dogs and cats. They carry good foods to. To bad my dog is on a prescription dog food because this would be a good place to get some. I also noticed that they cater to cats. I never usually pay attention to that but their cat stuff was plentiful. The bad thing for boutique stores like this is, my mom and I are pretty crafty. There were these soft felt blankets that my dog would turn puppy over again. They were over the $15.00 mark. I know full well I can go to the fabric store and buy the same fabric and hand sew the same blanket for my dog for at least $6. I really like the crocheted sweaters though. They had a black one with a scull and cross bones on it. If it had come in my wiener dogs size she would be sporting it right now. I definitely cant crochet. This is a fun store. I really enjoy perusing through locally owned pet stores and specifically finding toys for Beckett that he enjoys. He really likes toys with appendages (and that was before he lost one of his own) and we are always on the lookout for some new toy he can play with. They had some freakishly cute pet Halloween costumes but at too high of a price for my taste and aside from some of those lets make our dog look like a baby type of fare, this store had a special quality to it. This place is the most adorable pet store in the area....five starts for carrying tasteful plaid leash and collar!!! Please extend the selection!!!! I have a plaid obsession! Melanie the owner was so helpful and gave me a sample of Happytails shampoo (Canine Spa Line located in So. Ca) since they didn't have the whitening powder I was looking for for my Westie. One cavet to the 5 star review, the items are high-end which does translate to pricey. That said, I'm told they are bring in a selection of less expensive, yet still stylish items. So we moved to downtown Pleasanton last year. We moved here with our beloved Weimreiner, Chloe. We used to walk her downtown and would stroll in for a free treat (she loved treats!) whenever we could. I wouldn't say we were fans quite yet. So Chloe is no longer with us, but we spent some time and finally decided on a new member of the family. We are getting a Bergamasco. These dogs have dreadlocks - really. Check out http://bergamascos.net for some great pictures of these rastafarian Italian sheepdogs. We are calling ours Burgie (short for Burgermonster, which sounds like Bergamasco). Anyway, we have been getting excited and looking for dog things again. So we went in there to pick out a new bed, buy a collar and matching leash, and pick up some dog bowls and random toys. The owner (Melanie, I think she said her name was) was fantastic in helping us. She was extremely friendly, very helpful when making recommendations, and took time to talk with us about our purchases, even when there were people in the store (her other clerk helped them out). And then she mentioned they have a Yappy Hour, where people bring their dogs in and everyone sits around and drinks wine. This kind of friendly service is exactly why we like to shop local. To top it all off, she is active in the downtown community. We say that you should shop local and support these types of businesses, those that bring more than just a few products to the area. read more
