When we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the guy at the podium in the rear. There was a woman sitting up farther by the trays doing a puzzle book, and she really could hardly be bothered. I was trying to understand, at that point, if the menu had changed to fully à la carte, and she just wouldn't answer me and kept directing me to the counters. Well how do I know what I want if I don't understand how it's offered? The fried chicken tender dinner of old is no more. On its way out, they switched from the homemade ones to standard frozen tenders, and now they aren't available at all. We asked at the counters and looked at most of the food. They still did offer a kale salad we like. It has pickled onions and peanuts in a vinaigrette and is a fresh, healthy complement to some heavier fare. It comes in both individual and family size, and I recommend the larger as it's a much better value. They offer a jambalaya entree, but it looked to be mostly just rice! The gumbo soup was very good, as well as a healthy option. The Mac & cheese looked popular, but we didn't try it. Our single serving of sweet potato fries were dry and even a bit burnt, and just 8 smaller fries. I saw other tables getting fresh ones, but we got the lame bottom of the pan. The baked potato with cheese and broccoli was generously sized and got a good review, though I didn't try it. Overall, my impression was that the food was generally made from inexpensive ingredients, and marked up to quite a premium. I think management needs to look at the specifics of what is being served and see if that's as they intended. They offer the same delicious artisan sodas as the newer eatery near the market pavilion. We've tried food there, as well, and the sandwich was very good! What you might prefer is purely based on personal preference. There is good food here if you choose wisely.

It tasted fine, but at $11.95 with no sides is a bit expensive. My friends got the pulled pork plus the potato with pulled pork. Their kids got the "hobo lunches" which were cute, and a bargain at $9.95 - you get your choice of a hot dog, turkey and cheese sandwich, or I think one other entree, with bottled water or juice/soda, and a dessert, and it's packed in this cute handkerchief thing. Soft drinks are about $3.95 but I'd recommend the reusable souvenir cup, for $5.50, which offers free refills. The best thing we got here were actually the buckeyes for dessert - they're $1.95 each but HUGE, and because we ate outside they were melting a bit, and delicious. I'd come back here again but probably would try the grilled chicken with a side, for $12.95, instead of the pulled pork sandwich.

We also had chips and bottles of pop, I got the Coke and it was so good and refreshing. I do not love sugar Coke unless it is from the glass bottle (this was cane sugar from Mexico, and really good, not too sweet). The other child got pastrami and cheese with mayo, also very tasty. I love a good old fashion sandwich that I do not need to make myself, it tastes like old school elementary school lunch from my childhood. We also got pies a la mode. One got pumpkin and two got mixed berry, all very good. Looking to get tables close to each other". I told her that the reason why we stuck around was to get seated and was fine with splitting, as already discussed. I really enjoyed talking to the kids about how everything they used and were served was compostable. Farm to table type places are one of my absolute favorites. There is something special about supporting local businesses while running yours. Obviously there are pricing hurdles with the local businesses.
