Unfortunately the fish from fish and chips had more grease and dough than fish on my meal, my husbands cheeseburger, overcooked and bun was dry, sans any condiments. For a first experience, disappointing. I will say, restaurant was nicely reimagined, and our server was great, and did offer to take fish back or get something else. Well I really wanted this place to be a great place but it's a hit and miss. Today was definitely the worst! It's 5:30pm on a Monday, the restaurant is nearly empty and we went in and stood there waiting for a hostess or someone to help us out but no one came. The bartender saw us and even made eye contact with us but didn't say a word. We waited for about 10 minutes before we decided to leave. Erin was an incredible server. My family and I have lived on Murrayhill for 30+ years. This locations has been every restaurant under the sun but FINALLY it is something worth trying. We started with the zucchini spears. They were nice and crunchy without getting too soggy from the breading. My dad ordered the salmon and was very happy. He would have liked a slightly larger cut but the taste was great. My brother ordered their cheese burger. Nothing too exciting but still good. The potatoes wedge fries were the best part of the plate. The real star of the night was the Oregonian Blackberry BBQ Ribs. I have never had something so unique yet so intrinsically Oregon. When most visitors think Oregon they think strawberries. Real Oregonians know blackberries are our secret sauce. The ribs were a lean but meaty cut. They fell right off the bone. The slaw was traditional but tasty. The entire restaurant was spotless and the newly remodeled style is a perfect fit. I love the mix of tables, bar seats, and casual chairs/couches by the fire. It was raining during dinner or else we would have gone outside to enjoy the patio. We see the fires from the street when we drive by and it was what initially drew us in to give it a try. DISCLAIMER: I've been to the Taphouse once Food: Well-prepped and tasty. Specifically, the Taphouse burger is portioned well and comes with a generous amount of fries (these fries are bigger than the usual bunch). I also sampled (from my accompanying members) macaroni and mahi mahi sliders which were made with the same care as my burger. Although the food is excellently done, I recommend looking at the menu first as the selection is somewhat limited and may not be what you're looking for. Service: The real reason I wanted to write the review is to commemorate how awesome the service is at the Murayhill Taphouse. Riley, our waitress, is phenomenal! Very welcoming, diligent, and attentive; all of our meals were served with care and we always had everything needed to enjoy meals; water and sauce. I can't say that this experience is universal, but I hope everyone shares the same traits as Riley. Ambiance: The Taphouse is located in a scenic area and you have the option of eating inside or outside, both have a nice view. There is music constantly playing at a soft tune, so I always felt relaxed. I think it's a nice place to bring your date to or dine with some friends. Really enjoyed the vibe, cozy but spacious, kind staff, good beers on tap and some of the best bruschetta I've ever had. They had TVs with games on but it wasn't the focal point. Ambiance is really sweet, nice pond and scenery. The beers are probably the only thing worth coming here for. We tried the Mahgerita pizza and it was a flat bread with a slice of tomato and chunk of moz on each slice, presentation was good, taste wasn't very good. We've been meaning to try Murrayhill Taphouse so today was errands in Beaverton with a lunch there. We were seated promptly and service was pretty good. The decor is dated and the chairs were hard but the rooms have natural light and the patio is nice. I love that the menu has tons of vegetarian options. We got a trio of bruschetta and the corn ribs to start, and they were pretty good. The bread for the bruschetta was a bit too hard and way too dry, they really should brush it with olive oil or some kind of sauce or dressing. The toppings were good but not enough to balance the hard dry bread. The corn ribs were well-prepared and tasty, could use a bit more heat but we liked them a lot. I got the harvest salad and hubby tried the French dip sandwich. He loved his sandwich but neither of us loved the fries that came with it. They kind of seemed like they were formed out of mashed potatoes and fried? Too soft interiors with an odd crust on the outside. My salad was fine, nothing special and a bit small for the price but it was fresh and pretty. They were out of one of the two beers we wanted, and have very few options for non-drinkers. But overall a good experience and we'll try it again for sure. read more

I've only had pick-up from here but I have to say it was amazing. We ordered the Margherita Flatbread Pizza, Meat and Cheese board, and the Vegetarian Street Corn Nachos. My husband, daughter, and I shared everything and really enjoyed every bit of it. One thing I couldn't get over was the presentation and packaging for delivery. Everything was presented like we were actually eating at the restuarant. They really could've just slapped it all together in a box but they didn't. Staff was great. I didn't have too much interaction with them but the little I did have they were awesome. My husband is currently recovering from chemo and can't be in public quite yet but I'm excited for the day we get to actually go to the restuarant. Honestly one of the worst meals I have ever had in my life. I ordered the shrimp melt, which consisted of over cooked, rubbery garbage, drowning in mayo, and the cheese was a sad disaster. The fries weren't great either- not sure what they are trying to do here but it's not working. Didn't send food back because I felt physically ill after eating my food, and we just wanted to leave. On a positive, we had onion rings for an appetizer, and I would recommend those. I love where this is located, you get a fantastic view of that beautiful landscape area with a gorgeous pond! My friends and I meet there occasionally. They don't have much to offer for a happy hour. In fact, it seems like it's a second thought for the restaurant. A good happy hour are usually a big draw, but not here.Their regular menu food is okay.!They do have some pretty good cocktails that the group likes. I had the pastrami sandwich and fries plate which was $15. The pastrami was overwhelmed by the bread and toppings. This is a sandwich in need of balance. The pastrami was somewhat tough and there wasn't enough of it on the sandwich. I think of what I spend at a Jewish deli for a pastrami sandwich where you get a half pound of homemade pastrami piled high that is so tender and tasty where the pastrami is the star and the quantity you get here which is too skimpy and overwhelmed by the topping and bread. I was really excited to come here for a date night with my husband. Every time we drive by the place looks amazing with the water and fire features. It's such a nice location, building & the Japanese Old Fashion was great (well the first one, second was made completely different). The food however was not good (we ordered a lot of different things to share). I'd recommend eating elsewhere and coming here to enjoy drinks by the fire for a night cap. To the restaurant: I would recommend revamping your bruschetta. The bread we received yesterday was stale/dry and impossible to bite, we cut the tops of our mouth' trying to eat it & the flavors were off. Have been here several times before and always had great food & service, but tonight was very disappointing! Back in January we were so excited to see that there was finally a Happy Hour! They had a great happy hour menu! Sunday thru Thursday from 2 to 5 & Friday & Saturday from 8pm to close. Tonight, Sunday, it was about 4:30 and we were excited to go to Happy Hour again. But, sadly were told that they no longer do Happy Hour on Sundays from 2 to 5. It is now 8 to close :( So disappointing! Our server also said we weren't missing much because they made changes to the happy hour menu and the portions were smaller. He even said their Happy Hour times and menu were online. Hmmmm....just found their Happy Hour under food on their website and it shows that Happy Hour is Sunday thru Thursday from 2 to 5.....what the hell?! Wish I saw this while we were there!!! This makes me mad. Ughhh...well anyways we ordered off the regular menu and quickly found out those portion sizes were smaller, too. Really disappointed that portions had been cut back. If I could give negative stars, I would. The food was great, but service was horrible! My family and I had lunch around 1pm, on a Thursday, so it was not busy for the time of day. Our server was relatively prompt in taking our order, but failed to check in on us during the entire stay. We thought we'd give it some time to work out their kinks and try again. Tonight was trying again and were super bummed. Food is just not good. We got the nachos to start and the cheese sauce was NOWHERE to be found. Dry chips no cheese. The pizzas are very underwhelming. They made my margarita very very wrong. From our two visits I can wrap it up by saying - It seems like the problem here is they have a really bad head chef. A good head chef would know you can't serve bruschetta on stale bread (in reading other reviews this is still an issue). A good head chef would know you don't put arugula on a margarita pizza. A good chef would know how to make good pizza dough (Their pizza dough is pita-like). I think the owners should really read these reviews and put some time into finding a good head chef. If the food doesn't change this place isn't going to make it, and that would be very sad! I'm sad to say that it wasn't worth the $ and I'm not sure we'll be back. read more

We came hungry and ordered the wings, southwest salad, 3 for $15 bruschetta plate (Asparagus, prosciutto, Swiss, pinot onions/Roasted portobello, blue cheese, honey/Brie, red apple, fig, chives) and the crispy honey Buffalo chicken sandwich. The bread for the bruschetta was stale on each of the 3 options which kind of ruined the plate for us (great idea but seemingly no quality control). The Buffalo chicken sandwich didn't have chicken throughout the whole bun so the ratios were off for each bite. The salad was the best part of the meal but it truly wasn't notable. Part deux: A marked improvement now that the opening crowds have subsided. Reservations are still recommended and ours was ready and waiting this time around. I couldn't help but notice the $15 bruschetta board dropped from 4 slices to 3. A bit of a hit for one of the best items on a menu that is already rather pricey for pub food. Seriously, $11 for tap wine? I was able to try the French dip this time, the roast beef and horseradish sauce were terrific, but the au jus was a major salt bomb. The sidewinder fries were great, another thing they must have been out of on our first visit. A cross between a wedge and a curly. It isn't every day you have a new french fry experience. We also had the pizza and it was mediocre at best. Unfortunately, the terrific severs are having to carry the weight for some hit or miss cuisine. Its a shame that an establishment with this great of a location, one of the best views and outdoor seating areas on the West Side and all of the renovations that were to create a warm and inviting ambience, that it is such a letdown. Diners should set their expectations low as the food is ordinary, much like going to a Shari's Restaurant in being average (3*'s) to below-average (2*'s). Frankly speaking, I'm not sure how this place survives as it is not an inexpensive place to dine, so you don't leave feeling like you got what you paid for. We diner on three separate occasions and nothing we ordered was memorable enough to make us come back. Asked for medium came well done Steak- Disappointing-$28 for what looks like a 4oz portion just thrown on the plate. Good flavor but a ridiculous amount for the price. Also feels like something I would get at the Murrayhill Cafe Dessert- I wish we could've tried.
