We enjoyed a wonderful late lunch on the back patio with two good neighbors. The sun was shining, there was a pleasant breeze, and the Canada geese were squawking like crazy out on the man-made pond behind the taproom. Make no mistake, this is a taproom with 32 taps, 36 bottles, and 28 growlers available. Six ciders on tap, one canned hard kombucha and one canned White Claw hard seltzer the day we visited, along with a very nice selection of quality non-alcoholic brews and wines. We tried the the 19 Acres Marionberry fruit cider ($7 for a 13oz draft): semi-dry, fruit forward, using local northwest Marion berries. A must try if you're into hard ciders. We started with two appetizers for the table: Fried Calamari with a tangy pepperoncini citrus aioli ($14) and GIANT hand-dipped Onion Rings with Parmesan cheese, ranch, and chipotle BBQ dipping sauces ($10). Both were GBD (golden brown and delicious) and not greasy. Truthfully, I could have had just the onion rings and cider and been just fine and dandy the rest of the day. For entrees we had the Chicken Caprese Sliders (2 for $16): house made pesto, arugula, tomato, and fresh mozzarella slices, on slider rolls, drizzled with a tasty balsamic reduction. This was served with "sidewinder fries" (kind of a thick, corkscrew shape), that I did not care for at all. I need those crispy, French fries, preferably with the skins still on. But they weren't so bad that I could not eat them. Yep, ate them all but I would not order again if given a choice. Two diners ordered the Caesar salad ($13): romaine lettuce, garlic roasted croutons, grated Parmesan, pine nuts, crispy capers with Caesar dressing and added chicken ($7). I didn't get a taste but both plates were licked clean. Our last entree was the Kale salad ($13): green kale, sliced apples, blueberries, crumbled goat cheese, candied walnuts, and honey mustard dressing with chicken added ($7). My kind of salad! That's what I'm ordering next time. No problem getting a table at 1:30pm on a weekday afternoon. Our waiter was a tad distracted learning the new automated hand-held ordering system but he was friendly enough and attentive. Happy Hour is from 2 to 5, Monday thru Friday with an additional abbreviated, less expensive menu. Brunch is served on weekends from 10am to 2pm. Check out their "Events" calendar too. Along with Cinco de Mayo and Mother's Day, they celebrate National Egg Day, National Cheese Day, National Doughnut Day, National Bourbon Day and many, many more. We will definitely return! read more

We arrived at 5pm on a Saturday night. The placed was packed with a long line waiting to be seated, it was busy the entire time we were there. I like the option to choose 3 different kind of bruschetta's. The calamari and dipping sauce was delicious. Mixed drinks and dessert was tasty as well. We ordered beef nachos, it's a homemade cheese sauce. I was not a fan! The cheese didn't taste like cheese. I'd say the nachos lacked in flavor and toppings. And maybe they are working out the kinks with the menu, this wouldn't prevent me from visiting again, I just wouldn't order the nachos. The staff was courteous and attentive for the level of business they had. Parking is plentiful and shares a lot with Cafe Murray Hill. As with any new business there's always kinks to be worked out. Food was delicious! I had the southwest salad and my husband had the French dip and had the vegetarian street corn nachos for an appetizer. I will definitely be going back for more! Service on the other hand wasn't as great. It wasn't horrible, but could have been much better. My husband made reservations and we got a text that our table was ready so we go inside and we stood there waiting for a host/hostess for a little longer than we probably should have, but no biggie. We were seated, given menus, and told our waiter would be with us in a minute. It took just over 20 minutes for the waiter to come with water. They were a little busy, but not that busy! Everyone else around us was getting service so we were starting to think they forgot about us. We were about 5 minutes from getting up and leaving when he came with the water. We went ahead and placed our order when he brought the water since we had so much time to look at the menu. We ordered an appetizer and he asked if we wanted that out first or all together with our meals. We asked for it to be brought out before our meal, he said he'd have it out soon. He came back almost right away with our drinks we ordered and pretty soon after that we were served our meals (by a different waiter) my husband told him we were supposed to have an appetizer so he said he'd would go check on it. He came back said they were still working on it and it would be out soon. A few minutes pass and they brought out our appetizer. We finished our meal (which was very good) and were waiting for the check. That's when my husband was offered a refill on his drink, as we were waiting to leave. The waiter never came back once we were given our food to see how it was, if we needed anything, other than passing by our table once and tapping on the drink menu saying if we want dessert the dessert menu is inside the drink menu. When we did interact with the waiter he was very pleasant and nice, just didn't see much of him. And when the bill came we were pleasantly surprised at the price. We had expected a higher bill, not really paying attention to the price of what we ordered but it was very reasonable. Especially for the portion sizes. It was a little loud with the music in the background and people conversing. Turning the music down a notch or two would have been ideal, but again, not that big of a deal. I'm hoping the mediocre service is not the norm because their food really is good and their prices are decent. And for that reason I will be going back. We love this tap house, but lately the service has been poor. We visited for a late lunch today and ordered our usual dishes. Both were cooked well but our food sat on the service line for way too long. We ordered drinks along with our food and it took so long that I forgot we had even ordered them. After we received our food, I ordered another drink- this time it took so long that I was waiting for 20 minutes. I only ordered a draft cider which takes less than 2 minutes to pour and deliver. We were seated right behind where the acting manager was having some meetings with staff. We were rarely checked in on and I had to seek out our server to get boxes. The server who delivered my drink inferred that I was not happy and then proceeded to indiscreetly discuss about us to the manager who was seated right behind me. This is the WORST service we have had at this tap house which is unfortunate because we have been here many times, brought guests and usually enjoy the experience. Here are some pointers that the manager should have done- common sense- asked us how our service was and see how they could make it better, or perhaps not discuss within earshot. We were polite, extremely patient and should have said something, but we were trying to give our server the benefit of the doubt. Pretty near to our place and had been planning to go for long. Summer outdoors here will be awesome as it's near small lake. Good place to gather up with family and friends. We were a party of 11 including kids and they arranged a place for ourselves which was super convenient (away from the crowd). We had sweet corn ribs, buffalo shrimp and chicken nachos as appetiser and all those were good. Spicy burger and beef short ribs were excellent. Sidewinder fries were just okay. I got couple of partial cooked Potatoes in there. They do have lot of variety in the menu and definitely gona go back and try more items. read more

Murrayhill Taphouse is a beautiful location with a large patio seating area overlooking the Murrayhill Pond. As far as locations go, you can't beat this spot. This particular building has had a long history of failure, as I have lived in the area nearly my entire life. Many different tenants have come and gone with typically pretty poor food quality (though the nostalgia hits hard thinking back about Beaches). This is all to say that it has been a long time coming for a *good* establishment to occupy this space... and Murrayhill Taphouse is very close. I wholeheartedly believe that regardless of the food quality, this is a great spot: perfect for dates, family get-togethers, and so forth. Though, very much recommend the outdoor seating, as indoors is very run-of-the-mill, though still nice. Yet, my gripes mostly start and end with the quality of the food and the price you pay for it. In my two times dining at Murrayhill Taphouse, I have had their Taphouse Burger and a Margherita Pizza Board, both mostly being inoffensive. Both of these dishes fall into the camp of decent pub food that costs more than their punch. Over the years I have become way more of a stickler for pub food that is priced this high, especially when it comes to burgers (Murrayhill's currently sitting at $17). Because of the abundance of local restaurants that are priced lower and generally have equal to better taste, these nicer taphouses/pubs are falling out of my favor. If you have no issue with the price point, then so be it, Murrayhill Taphouse will provide exactly what you'd expect and exactly what you've had before somewhere else. Yes, there are many better spots where you can get pub fare for much cheaper, but Murrayhill Taphouse comes with the added tax of a nice location. This is, to the best of my memory, the best restaurant that has occupied this location, but it did not live up to the expectations and hopes I had in making this my new after-work spot to meet friends and have a beer (White Oak Taphouse across the street frankly fills in as a better option for that). read more

This was my first time visiting the Murrayhill Taphouse and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. First off, our server was not very friendly or helpful when helping us. I believe his name was Adonis, but I don't know because he didn't introduce himself. This was the name on the receipt. No water/silverware/menus were provided to us Eventually, we were given menus after a long wait and having to ask for water. Did not know of QR Code on table for drink menu, when I asked for what's on tap he seemed annoyed and referred me to the QR code (which was fine, I didn't see it). When I asked for recommendation he said, "its a long list" and just seemed annoyed. When we brought our appetizers to share with our table we still had not received any place settings (silverware or napkins) and no sharing plates. We eventually received our food by a food runner. We then asked for placesettings and I kid you not he said, "Oh fuck, I will go grab some." When he returned we realized we have not received Malt Vinegar for our Fish and Chips he responded, "Shit I just got back here." It sounded like he was trying to be funny, but I was not amused. The very last thing and probably the most appalling to me was my dinner. I ordered a salad with chicken and my chicken was completely raw (See Attached). read more

While in an unsuspecting part of town this bar really was quite the place. The vibes of this place were great! Several seating options from couches, bar, high tops to just normal booth seating! All the options make for great dynamics no matter who or how many you are meeting with. The space is warm with multiple fireplaces which was also a great touch. The beer list was sufficient for a beer drinker such as myself. Options ranging from very dark beers to your NW style IPAs! The food was quite good too. We ordered the bruschetta and had 8 options to choose from. All the ones we picked turned out fantastic. Great flavors from great ingredients. First time checking out the taphouse since it opened. Had to make reservation for a party of 6 at 5:15pm a week before. First impression, cute trendy restaurant. When our server walked us to the table, we were seated in a room away from the main dining area. The restaurant was about 30% filled so there were a ton of empty tables. We were originally only given a small table for a party of 6 so had to ask for another table to connect so there was room for 6 people. One table would have limited one person to one small plate and a drink, at most. A few of us got there early and ordered appetizers right away because of previous reviews that orders can take awhile. To our surprise, the appetizers arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. Calamari was good, not overly battered or oily. Bruschetta was delicious and the options were great. Sweet potato wedges were huge wedges but tasty. Pizza was a perfect size with just the right for someone who loves thin, light wood fired pizzas. Drinks were strong and definitely a hit with the heavier pours. Although our full party of 6 didn't get arrive until 5:30, we were asked to wrap up before 7 because they had a party of 18 coming in and would need to use our table. It caught us all off guard as we weren't really ready to leave because we were still enjoying our party with drinks and appetizers. So we didn't get a chance to try any entrees. Overall, food was decent. Cocktails had strong pours (great for those who prefer more alcohol). Server was nice. However, it did not feel inviting when we were placed in a separate room away from the main dining area despite walking by a ton of empty tables. My husband came in for their soft opening and was hoping to want to love the food experience more this time. He brought me to try it again tonight. Let's just say I wasn't impressed. The only positive thing I can add is the service was great, the bartender was our waiter, the drinks were good. We started with two Appetizers: calamari was dry with no seasoning. Jalapeño appetizer with no seasoning and the dip can't be called lime Crema with no lime or flavor. Just not super excited about the first few bites we had. Probably the most lack luster Cesar salad, not dressed and you can't call that preserved lemons, they were not, burnt pine nuts? Just why? Not impressed at all. We finished with the fish and chips and it was just not great. I think the only positive thing about that part was the tartar sauce. The fish was kind of soggy, the chips, why use fingerling potatoes, they were watery inside and not crispy either. We gave feedback to the manager because it was just not good. Will see if they even listen. For the amount of money we paid for our dinner, I wouldn't waste your time unless they either change their chefs of learn how to properly season their food. read more

Overall: Love to see the place up and running. Awesome location! It is very BUSY so I recommend calling ahead and if you want to go dine during prime hours. Like a lot of the reviews said, when the bruschetta came to the table, the bread was stale, cold and chewy. Not very appealing. I tried six of the flavors and all ranged from great to bad. Overall, I wish some had more toppings. The spread was only a little and only in the middle on some and the meat was only a little on others. They had a pesto that they use a spread on some and that was yummy. I recommend: The white pie. If you love cheese, get this pizza! Includes: White sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, basil pesto, a drizzle of honey. They honey was a great addition to the pesto and cheese. It was cooked great and tasted amazing. Service: New staff, new place, everyone is still learning. The hostess was a young inexperienced girl who we asked two or three questions to which she didn't know two of and gave a ridiculous answer for the third. -The waiter was a good guy. Too quiet. We got a table but it was in an odd spot by the doors where food was being brought out to outside tables. Wasn't great for a date night. Our waiter was however, fantastic. Super personable and attentive. He was training a gal and she was nice as well! The food was good. The potato pizza was VERY greasy and sadly had a hair in it. Thank a is the third restaurant at this location. It has a great outdoor seating area overlooking the pond with fire pits. I'm alone today cooling off from people disrespecting me to frequently. So I'm at the bar where other people can disrespect me more frequently. I just wanted a beer but looked at the menu and ordered the rockfish and chips. The beer menu has about 26 on tap along with 6 ciders. All the beer is local craft offerings which is super cool. The bar is a little busy on a Sunday at 5:30. There are three tv screens that are too high to watch. Probably an after thought. They have a large garage door in the bar the opens onto the patio. The fish and chips were ok. The rockfish was over breaded but that happens everywhere. The fries are a weird fat curly fry. But good. And the coleslaw is coleslaw. This is a big place and properly staffed. Service is good, professional and friendly. Lots of people tonight and they are happy. Good location with enough parking close by or nearby. The piped music is hoppin and helps to creep the chatter noise down. Great selection of music. The story here is that the owner of the buildings in this area wanted to fill this space. It's been closed for over five years. So he contacted a restaurant across the way and ask them to start a restaurant with him. After research, the Murrayhill Taphouse was started. The remodel is much classier than the previous outfit and definitely has a higher scale feel.
