It's actually a 3.5, but no half star options are available. Tbh we visited Murrieta's Well after a visit to Wente Vineyards, and I discovered I like the wines at Wente a lot more. That said, the location is lovely and the outdoor patio is great on a pleasant day when it's not too hot. The server was on her own the day we visited, so she was really having to hustle to cover all the tables, but she did so with humor and friendliness, and everyone seemed content to wait and enjoy the ambience. We tried the seated wine tasting flight, with one of us having just a Pellegrino (second winery, driving over Vasco Rd..right??). We didn't order any of the appetizers but several tables near us did, and they seemed happy with them, despite a fairly steep price for each. It was interesting to learn about Murrieta's speciality--the Cab Franc, and the server was quite knowledgable about the wines and the winery. read more

I can't say enough good things about Murrieta's Well! I've been here many times for wine tasting, as well as attended a wedding here earlier this year (which was absolutely fabulous!) and now hosted our company holiday party here. We decided to host our company holiday party here and it was perfect! Everyone we worked with, from Dominique the catering manager to Brandon the event captain were all wonderful! The venue its self was absolutely gorgeous and decorated beautifully (and tastefully) for the holidays. We didn't have to bring in any additional decorations. The food was fantastic, the apps and mains were all wonderful (also the cookies at the dessert station were incredible!!!) Came for their first Sunday brunch with my good friends! The menu consisted of assorted breads and pastries, charcuterie, frittata and potatoes. It was definitely a carb overload! There were four tastings of wine: three white and one red. The Whip was my favorite. Our server, Holly, was friendly and attentive. She even offered to refill our wine glasses. The only thing missing was some chocolate to go with their Merlot. The grounds are beautiful. I'd love to come back for outdoor tasting on a cooler day. We had an event here, my daughter's graduation party and the space was perfect. Minimal decor was needed since the room was already beautiful. Lighting, decor, and furniture were thoughtfully planned out. Our guests enjoyed the venue and even talked about hosting their own events there. Tami, Roland, Trina, and Niki were the staff assisting us and they were helpful and friendly. I'm not a huge wine drinker but everyone raved about the wine offerings. Murrieta's Well has above-average wine with sky-high prices. Their astronomical $40 tasting fee makes Napa look cheap, and it only includes six pours. The wines themselves are quite good (nothing special), but also prohibitively priced; almost everything we tasted was $50 or more per bottle, except for their "welcome" wine, a cheaper white blend for $35. Everything about how this place operates screams that they're just trying to take your money in every way they can. Our server tried to sell us on not one, not two, but three different wine bundles while we were there, desperate to make a sale. They even have a policy where any purchase of $300 or more automatically signs you up for their wine club, which just felt like another attempt to pressure us into spending more money. Yes, wineries are businesses, and yes, they want to make sales. But I've been wine tasting all over Napa, Sonoma, Russian River, Amador, Livermore, and more at dozens of wineries over the last decade, and I've never had an experience so high-priced and out of touch with their customer base. I read other reviews about how this place went under new management within the last year, and it's honestly shocking to me that they're still open. I live pretty close to Livermore and was looking for great winery experiences to share with my friends, but there's no shot whatsoever that I'll be returning to Murrieta's Well unless they can figure out how to create a more welcome, relaxing environment with reasonable prices. The management should be ashamed of the experience they've created. read more

My wife and I are members of "the well" and just finished up at one of their terroir to table experiences where they pair their amazing wines (seriously, THE BEST in Livermore and a major contender with Napa and French wines) with their amazing food (recently brought back to prominence by their awesome head chef who also oversees the Wente food) and gives you a little insight into the vineyard and a high-level idea of how the operation works. This is the second terroir to table experience we have done and it was amazing both times. My friends and I stopped by Murrieta's well for a 1:30pm tasting appointment. The property was very beautiful especially with its surrounding elements, such as the creek and vineyards. The tasting room was located on the 2nd floor of a gorgeous building. I could see it being a popular spot for weddings. We had the best sommelier. Can't remember her name, but she is British. She was cheery, personable, and such a hoot - one of the reasons why our time at Murrieta's Well was pleasant and enjoyable. The wines were great. Of the two wineries I visited that day, this was the only place I bought wine. I particularly loved the Petit Verdot and a Spanish-Portuguese blend called Zarzuella. We also shared a charcuterie board. Pretty standard board when it came to the selection of cold cuts and cheeses, but presentation was everything. read more

Went there the other day w a party of 4 and it was great. Tried to plan to have a casual tasting of 12-16 people come and enjoy tasting and food and it's as if I was asking to rent the whole property. I started six weeks earlier and trying to plan the day. I was shuffled around multiple times by many different people in order to make this reservation. I emailed the manager, Cory multiple times who never got back to me. Went to the winery to set the reservation and they told me I needed approval and that somebody would get back to me, whom never did. My friend who is a wine club member could not even get approval to have 3 to 4 tables, because she waited, what was supposed to be three days, over a week until she finally called again and they still hadn't given her the approval. Then someone very nice finally told us it would be $40/head on top of what we are paying for wine and food, plus gratuity to have a larger group. I was literally trying to give them my business and it was so difficult and such a hassle that they completely lost my business. A word of advice from one business owner to another, when people are trying to give you their money make it as easy as possible to get it. At the bare minimum call the back. read more

A beautiful afternoon with friends and a few bottles of wine! I've been here before but not for a few years, and I was thrilled to re-visit such a gorgeous winery with lush greenery, tiled stairs up to a private tasting area, and kind wine pourers who steered us in the right direction as we enjoyed trying out the wines. We sampled the sauv blanc and rose before moving on, but, had we had more time, I would have loved to stay through another bottle of one of their reds. Paid $95 for Kentucky Derby event I was 1 of the first 10 people there, never offered a full glass of wine or ticket for raffle. Went to purchase a glass of wine since I never received the welcome glass, due to event you can only purchase bottles, glasses of wine aren't being sold. Total bull crap, purchasing a bottle wasn't feasible due to there wine isn't good and I would have been pissed off purchasing a red wine for $65.00 and it's not good. I was offered a glass of white wine and champagne from a large party and it wasn't good. Will never do this winery again. Try Rios, Mitchell Katz. Concannon for better wines. Way too expensive for what they offer and poor service. $40 wine tasting per person. None of it goes toward their $70 wine purchases like most other wineries. Add a cheese board and some other things, we ended up paying $360 in the end. Since my husband drives, we always share one tasting, but our server refused to let us share. No other wineries had any issues like this. Are they working on commission? Our server forgot our water orders until we asked. She brought 1. We still were charged for 2 waters. My girlfriend took me here for my first wine tasting to celebrate me finishing school and it was an amazing first time! The venue is beautiful. Our guide was Rob and he was very knowledgeable about the history of Murrieta's Well and the different stages of wine making. We started off with the whip (a soft white wine) and Rob took us on a little walk to see and try the grapes before having us sit down and try the other different types of wines. We had two whites (dry orange and Chardonnay) and two reds (merlot and petit verdot) and a few different small bites of food to pair with our wines. The merlot was my favorite! Our friend is a member so he introduced us to Murietta's Well a few years ago, and we haven't found another winery we love as much as here. Every time we come here, we're greeted with such a warm smile and a glass of wine. They always pour a generous amount of wine and really take care of their members. They have yummy food to pair with the wine and amazing entertainment. 2016 Limited Release Blanc de Blanc (100% Chardonnay): My and my girlfriend loved this drink the most. It's like a better tasting and less bubbly version of champagne. 2019 Cabernet Franc: I thought the first glass was really good so I came back for a second one but it didn't taste as amazing for some reason. Roasted Red Pepper Dip With Fresh Herbs Crostini: This was so good and went well with the red wine. 2021 Rose: I didn't like it but my husband really liked it. It did go nicely with the feta spinach mint tartlelette. 2019 Winemaker Red: Nothing about it really stood out to me. Braised Beef Flautas: It was packed full of meat but the meat was dry. 2018 Tempranillo: This red was very bold and pairs really well with the cajun-cranberry ganache square chocolate. After several visits to area wineries I was about to give up on finding wines I enjoyed without having to go to Napa or Sonoma counties. Murrieta's Well changed that. Most importantly, their wine is delicious. Their Cab Franc and Petite Verdot being big standouts. Murrieta's setting and hospitable wine ambassadors, though, put my experience over the top. Our server Eileen was engaging, knowledgeable and fun, while being sensitive to giving us time to focus our attention on the guests that we brought. Joining their wine club was an easy decision. The atmosphere, the scenery, the WINE are all fabulous... but the most special of all is the service you receive when you are there. We have been there on planned visits - as well as unplanned - and every time we are greeted as if we are family. My daughter was in town recently and we popped in for a quick look at the sunset; we were greeted by Gillian who treated us with tastings (their sauvignon blanc remains one of my favorites) and stories... and service like we were their most treasured guests. We had a delightful experience with Jillian for the $75/pp food wine tasting activity at this high-end boutique winery owned by Wente. To be honest, when I booked I had no idea it was part of the large and dominant Wente group and had I known I might not have booked given my general preferences for small, family owned wineries but this place totally won me over. Jillian was a great hostess and very generous with her pours of the fabulous rose, delicious Sauvignon blanc, refreshing Chardonnay and the luscious Spanish blend and the Petite Verdot. Each of the wines was paired with a small food course which included cassoulet, beef tenderloin, scallops and mor. While not tons of food, it turned out to be a great lunch. We were part of the 11:00 group and started by visiting the vineyard before learning about the history of the winery and region. Given the generous pours, and refills it turned out to be a decent value and given the pretty setting with gleaming chandeliers, a wonderful spot to spend a couple of hours. Definitely worth a visit especially given the superb quality of the wines. Definitely on par with the experiences one can have in Napa. I ended up buying a case of wine here I liked it so much. read more

Was a member for a few years. Wine is nice for the area, wine pick up parties were well done, it was nice to go taste and enjoy the ambiance. As many have said, they changed things in terms of no longer serving food, and made us sit at a long table where we were talked at by the wine server. Everyone was seated at tables, and it felt cramped at these communal tables. Appears they feel that if there is more 1:1 time with the wine server you'll feel more obliged to buy. We just wanted to relax and not be shoved into the barn and treated to a sales pitch about the wines we're already versed on as members. Canceled our membership. Going to see if there are any other wineries in the area with a less stuffy approach. Plus, their wines are nice, but overpriced. read more

Murietta's Well is an amazing winery. The venue itself wonderful. This review is specifically for the event I attended, everything was perfectly crafted to perfection! We walked in and was welcome with a glass of their Blanc to Blanc bubbly. The event was very classy, live music was playing while we were served with 8 different passed small bites each paired with Murietta's wine. We were served with their 2022 Rose, 2020 Chardonnay, 2020 Sauvignon Blanc , 2017 Petit Verdot, 2017 Merlot, 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2018 Cab Franc and their Blanc to Blanc. My favorites were the Rose, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Overall, service, appetizers, wine, and ambiance is amazing. Who needs to go to Napa when you have this fabulous winery in the Tri-Valley area. I also like that their wine prices are very affordable. read more

Super scenic, and so much history! Murrieta's Well is one of 4 original wineries in the Livermore area, and were founded in 1884!! They are now owned by the Wente family. I hadn't heard of Murrieta's Well before, and am lucky that this was on my friend's list of wineries to check out. They are currently open for reservations only- make sure you book in advance since it seems like their slots are filling up quickly. We made reservations for a party of 2 on Sunday at 2:30pm, and they were busy but not crowded at the time. They had both outdoor and indoor seating available, and their indoor seating looked very safe since they have high ceilings and a breeze throughout, in addition to social distancing the tables. Hello-Sitting here currently on a Thursday afternoon. There are maybe 4 other tables here as well. The service has been less than satisfactory. The pours are the smallest I have ever seen. I frequent Napa and Sonoma often, and this is a weak comparison to what I am used to. We have waiting 15 minutes in between pours. The one star is for the fact the wine is good (what I could taste of the small pours), the charcuterie options were good, and the water kept us hydrated. It almost feels like a H20 vs a wine tasting with the amount of water we had vs wine. This is my second time here, and what a difference two years makes in the experience. Never again! read more
