To start with I'd say Muscoot is a 3+, you have to know what to order and what not to. Topping the list are the burgers, pizza and the Eduardo's salad for 2 is great. (my wife and I order one each as an entree.) The Millionaire Margarita is super, all fresh ingredients and top shelf tequila. I'd say you'd do well ordering anything that qualifies as comfort food, try and stay away from some of the dishes that are more relegated to fine dining restaurants. My wife once ordered scallops and it was a no go. This is an awesome place for lunch or dinner anytime, but be prepared for a bit of a wait as it is not big and due to popularity it can get crowded. Mange, enjoy and yes in the summer the King Cone next door is yummy. PS: No Amex, but I don't mind I have a Visa in my wallet for places I like that don't accept Amex. read more

worst experience and most embarrassing in my life. finally out after just having a baby a month ago. we order and eat our appetizers which were very delicious. but the staff ignored us several times. finally I got up to find someone so we could order our entrees, only to find out the kitchen is closed. we were sat at just before 730pm. the staff just apologized and said to have a good night. read more

My husband and I came here to try something new on a date night and found this to be a charming little spot. The indoor seating space is small, which gives it a nice, intimate feel. My husband order a burger and I ordered seafood paella, along with the calamari appetizer. The calamari was delicious and the paella was fresh. My husband said the burger was decent and in-line with what he would expect of pub food. The staff was attentive and friendly. It was near closing when we left and there was another patron who had become somewhat loud, making rude comments and yelling and the staff ware all very professional about handling that. We look forward to trying their pizza sometimes, and love the takeout option as the restaurant itself is a little too small to comfortably bring all the kids. read more

So, 2.5 stars is a more accurate rating. I've visited enough times to see what is done consistently. The service is great, every time. The food, though, is either great or wrong/bad. There isn't an in between. Overall observations: -Wings are always on point. -Burgers are done only as described in the menu, and only cooked to Medium (so don't request extras like, well done, or no onions). -Other food is as mentioned above, either great or bad. -Servers are wonderful - tip them well even if your food is weird. I'll likely continue to go because the wings are great, but other food items can be found better, elsewhere. read more

Came in tonight with two friends for my birthday. They've never been here before, so I told them to trust me. They are glad they did. The loved their meals! In the past the chef is very willing to adjust to my liking th seafood risotto. Unfortunately tonight, they didn't have my substituted item. HOWEVER, they felt bad and apologized , and cared That was more important to me than anything at that point. They go above and beyond to make things perfect for their guests and that what matters. My family went to dinner at Muscoot Tavern a few weeks ago and had a great experience. The wait staff was warm and attentive and we loved the food. Our first experience of Muscoot was so positive that I gave a five star rating. So I ended up at lunch there on days when I had business in Katonah. That's when the ratings went down. I wrote off the first experience and wrote down the second. Both had overcooked food - even when asked specifically - and less than service. So here's my review. Five Stars at night. Take your chances during the day. We all shared appetizers of calamari salad and shrimp dumplings. I defy you to find better in Westchester. The batter was light and cooked at high temperature and quick enough that we found almost no oil. The squid inside were perfect - pleasant chewiness that can be rubber if not cooked enough and too crunchy if overcooked. The dumplings were in a thin dough and had shrimp and a wonderful flavour - lemon grass? My wife had mussels and cream sauce. I grew up in Montreal and lived in France not far from the Italian border, so, I think, I have been to the best Italian restaurants outside Italy. The Alfredo was the exact Alfredo consistency, creamy without being watery or too thick and pasty. The mussels were fresh, the pasta al dente and delicious, and that's all you need to have a great meal. My son, just shy of 16, had a burger, of course, which is the best I've had in Westchester and maybe farther afield. The meat is fresh enough to have rare without worrying that you might be up all night planning never to eat another burger as long as you walk the earth. Inside was a pile of coronary cataclysms that only a 15 year old can eat safely. But there are burgers on the menu for the feint of heart. I had sea bass that I asked to be cooked lightly - it was perfect. It had a lovely sauce, but the fish itself was all that mattered - the sauce was nice with the sides. I'm not a fan of sauce on fish - it's like tassels on Burlesque performers: flashy but unnecessary. It's a compliment to say that the fish was perfect naked as nature made her. Dessert. Well, we knew to keep room for dessert so took home a lot of the food. My son had cannoli. I know I'm going to anger half of New York or more by saying I've never had a cannoli worthy of the name in New York - and I worked for years on or near Arthur Avenue - but this out-of-the-way dive (and they should use that word with pride as there is no other English description for the funky mishmosh of buildings that houses this tavern) has the perfect filling. I bake and cook and like to think I can recreate anything but I know I can't recreate this: is it creme fraiche? If so, it's better than any I've had, even in France. Before you burn me in effigy or for real, go have a cannoli at Muscoot. You will bury your pitchforks and torches. We also had mango creme brulee, which was great. Creme brulee needs mango as much as fish needs sauce or coffee needs hazelnut, but the mango did not offend. I will try lunch again. I have a colleague who swears by Muscoot at lunch. I will try them again if I'm up in that neck of the woods. I took off a review that described in detail a less-than-perfect experience. I am hoping that the owners have fixed a problem. I will be happy to up the review to five stars if lunch is equal to dinner in the days to come. read more

Stopped here when in the area. We visited a bee infested arboretum prior to and were famished when we arrived. Apparently this joint has been around for about one hundred years. It was an interesting crowd for a Saturday afternoon; I was a little intimidated by a serious looking man sitting at the bar and downing glasses of hard liquor. The ceilings are low (can't really fault them for that) and therefore a bit oppresive. The tables are crowded in a haphazard arrangement forming a maze between settings. I dont love writing this, but the place felt a bit dirty (stickly tables etc). I would have sat outside but it seems Katonah has a lot of bees. Service was friendly and pretty prompt considering the amount of patrons. My daughter's Mac and Cheese was great, my husband loved his Eggplant Parm, my salad with grilled chicken was pretty good, and my son liked his buttered pasta. Took a long while for the food to come out, but as mentioned the place was busy. Wouldn't return; it's far from my home, didnt love the unhygienic feel or the general vibe. Also, in my opinion the bathroom was not at an acceptable level cleanliness. Hoping they ramp up their cleaning efforts. The food was good. read more

When they got it right, they got it right!! When they missed the mark, they really missed it. This place is so unique. Be careful or u might fall when you arrive because of the layout of this place. It is old and has uneven floors and has low ceilings. It's pretty crazy. Very small dining area so you may have to wait quite some time if you don't get there super early. Reservations are only for larger parties of 5 or more. The clam chowder was scrumptious. Great flavor. The crabcake appetizer was delicious and filling! A little salty but good flavor and not fishy like some tend to be. I tried the zucchini noodles and had them in their vodka sauce which was very tasty!! Others had the mussels and enjoyed them a lot. The only disappointment was the burger. There was a very high expectation around their homemade burgers and unfortunately they fell short. They were a little dry and too big to taste the small piece of cheese added. They just seemed bland. The crispy bacon on top was good. The fries were good too. Had lunch here today. Food was very good. My brother-in-law had the clam chowder and said it was the best he's ever had and I'm sure over the course of 70 years he's had a few bowls from Nantucket to New Orleans. My sister-in-law had the Montauk soup and was overwhelmed by how much fish and the flavors. She's very familiar with Montauk as she goes there regularly. So, my wife and I split the mussels ala Muscoot, very good (could have used more, and fresher, garlic bread for dipping into the delicious sauce). We split the Fish and Chips, while my in-laws ordered a serving each. Great fish, perfectly prepared. Terrific, meaty fries. Excellent. Two servers running around inside, outside and doing everything from setting up to busing. Pretty good job considering how busy it was. I grew up less than 10 miles from the place in Yorktown Heights, can't believe I waited seven decades to go there. Will be back. Highly recommend it read more

We have lived in the community for over 28 years. Muscoot used to be our go-to place. Tried it previously, was disappointed with the pizza and salmon burger - used to be favorites. Decided to give it another try for nostalgic reasons. Servers very pleasant but not organized. One came took our drink order, and another came for our drink order and took our food order. A third arrived with our entrees, and we asked, "Where are our Buffalo wings? He said I guess the serve forgot to put it in." Did we want them now - we said no thanks. Original server came back said he was sorry for confusion and desserts would be on them. Drinks Manhattan and one of the special drinks with figs excellent. My husband had the short rib special - one rib came out with about 3 ounces of meat. I told him well you will have room for dessert. I had the swordfish and shrimp special - lacked flavor - disappointing - though mash potatoes and spinach good. Desserts average. $98 for 2 drinks and 2 entrees, not including tip. First time there and it was awesome. No one stared at me weird or gave me stank eye (I read the other reviews) when I walked in. Maybe I just don't give a **** what other people think. Call me crazy. Sat at the bar and was served by Judy. She was great. She made sure to clear our plates when we were done and was very attentive. She worked very clean too. French onion soup was so awesome. My only critique is that there were pieces of bay leaf in the soup. That's an easy fix, wrap the bay leaves with kitchen string. Fish it out when done. Clams casino is for bacon lovers. Yum! Burgers were cooked to the proper temp. Onion rings kicked ass. Not that it mattered, but the burger was supposed to come with BBQ sauce. It came with just ketchup. Overall it was awesome. Go early if you want a table. It was full at 6pm. Lots of families and yes it's loud. So don't bitch about it if you've been warned. This place will def go into my rotation. read more

I don't know why I never made MT a regular stop on my rotation of places to eat but I hope to make it a priority for this year. For a Saturday night in a very crowded restaurant, things ran very smoothly and efficiently. I had the Smokehouse Burger. A notable factor is brioche roll that holds the protein together. Whatever they make it from or do to it, it manages to hold the burger and all the fixins for the entire consumption process, no falling apart leaving you to pick up the pieces with a fork. Outstanding! When ordering, the ladies mentioned they would be sharing the Risotto. Without being asked, dinner arrived with the Risotto already divided in 2 separate dishes. The last meal, some seafood combo, I didn't get to try but my buddy seemed to enjoy it. Bottom line, you can do a lot worse than Muscoot for a meal in these parts! P.S. When I started to write this, I awarded them 4 stars. I just recently moved back from NJ and I must say this place is over the top. The food always delicious and I have dined with the family spoilers. We have eaten the salmon-always delicious..The steaks cooked to perfection with delicious onions and mushrooms. The burgers , OMG! a little bit closer to heaven then Pipers Kilt in the Bronx. I have been living in Brewster for over 30 years and have past this place many times. I always wanted to stop in but always in a rush but today we were at a wake unfortunately in Yorktown and when we left my husband was craving a burger so I said let's finally try this place. When we walked in he said wow this is a very old building I said I know it's 100 years old so we sat and received menus very quickly and was quite impressed with the selection I almost ordered fresh fish because it was so tempting but burgers it was WOW awesome juicy and the onion rings best ever!!!
