First let me start by saying I really like Muse. Been there a bunch of times and always had good food and service. On this Thursday night around 6:30 when we walked in it was fairly quiet. Sat at a high top in the bar area so Ivan, the bartender started out as our server. That rapidly changed as the crowds started arriving. We understood that they were not prepared for this many people and were overwhelmed. To say things went downhill fast was an understatement. Orders mixed up, arriving at different times, etc. Wife ordered the 1 1/2lb lobster (which was no more than 1 1/4 at best) which was overcooked. Ok, she can manage but no drawn butter with it to revive it. We thought it was an oversight and had to ask 3 different servers as well as the manager, since it was taking 15 minutes to get the butter, by which time the lobster was cold. No one asked how we were doing, no smiles (except from Ivan), just servers running around trying to keep up. We were glad they were having a great business night and if we had not been there before and really liked Muse we would never return, but the icing on the cake was when we received the check and saw that they charge $3.00 for drawn butter with an undersized $58.00 lobster! When leaving I asked the manager how they could charge $3.00 for drawn butter with a lobster, which as far as I know has been coming with whole lobsters since the beginning of time, his response was "yes, I don't know why they do that". I almost didn't post my half eaten food because it doesn't do the original presentation justice, but it was so good. I got the scallops with risotto. My husband got the clam linguini. Both absolutely amazing. Our waiter was so knowledgable and any staff member we encountered was so polite and helpful. Honestly, we were going to Harvest originally but the wait was too long. Service was prompt and efficient for a table of four. Out waitperson was very good but had some difficulty with English but still amazed to get the full order in without single mistake. She also check on us at least two times during the meal to ensure we were happy. The menu was pretty extensive and I had the full lobster I'd been waiting for a year. It was delectable and served with baked potato and corn on the Cobb. Drinks were great. Overall quite nice but the volume in room was pretty high despite the relative paucity of full tables. Sure, playing music loud adds something but also makes conversation quite difficult. Overall a lovely experience and regret not getting crème brûlée for dessert but I was simply to full after the crab cake appetizer. This is the one reason I left 4 stars: these were among the worst crab cakes I have ever had. Even in the Midwest they make more of an effort. These crabcakes sucked. The place is pretty loud so if you're looking for a quiet romantic spot, this may not be for you, but we enjoyed the lively atmosphere. The maitre'd was rude and wouldn't change our table in the bar area to the main dining room even though there were plenty of tables in the main dining area. He said that they were reserved, but still weren't ocuupied for th2 hours we were there. The service was fair because the waiter never checked with us to see how we were doing. What's the best way to spend a Saturday at Montauk? Awesome day at the beach, a cute through town, and a super tasty high-end dinner all within walking distance! My favorite appetizer were the mussels and scallop Mac and cheese. First off, the Parmesan cheese and artichokes with the mussels was a lot better than I had anticipated. The charred octopus had a bunch of yummy sauces that went well together. The Scallop Mac and Cheese, maybe could've used more scallops, but it was a super tasty cheese sauce with a crispy bread crumb topping! For dinner I got the Sea Bass, which had a perfectly crispy skin. It was cooked well, nice and flaky and soft. The New York Strip had a crispy onions on top that paired nicely with that medium rare steak juice. The Teriyaki Glazed Porkchop was WOW! The polenta fries were a great side, and the apple sauce was *chef's kiss* on top of the pork chop. The banana bread pudding could have been softer, maybe a little more moist, BUT man that caramel miso glaze was on the money!! The char on the steak was perfect and it was quite flavorful, but at the same time it was a bit too chewy. Couldn't stomach the fish. It was just too fishy for my tastebuds. The restaurant is beautiful inside. The drink was good after it was remade and the appetizers were delicious. Our entrees took about 40 minutes to come out while half of the restaurant was empty. The potatoes were burnt and the Chicken Parm was bland. We asked to speak to the manager and our server Becky said "why don't you tell me what the problem is". We explained our complaints to her and she replied with " the manager is an 80 year old man that needs to retire, he will tell you to go F yourself". This was the most shocking part of the experience. The manager came over, we explained the situation including what the server said. He replied with I wouldn't say that. He was dismissive and didn't seem to care much about our dining experience. We paid for our drinks and appetizers and left. The standards, professionalism and food is definitely lacking in this place. It was the worst experience I have ever had. We escalated the situation to Larry but he made excuses about the server must have had a long day. This level of disrespect and lack of customer service seems to be the norm there. read more

WOW!! This whole place is amazing! The place is so pretty, the staff was friendly, the food was delicious & the drinks were strong!!! Definitely recommend going here when in Montauk! We ate cauliflower tempura, corn poppers, scrimp scampi, arugula salad & the strip steak. Everything was 10/10!!! Drinks we got was a watermelon margarita & rum punch. Worst restaurant experience in montauk!!! We waited for over 40 minutes for the meals which we were somewhat ok with since it was busy. They offered us a Cesar salad while we waited. Finally when the meals came out 2 came at the same time a 3rd meal came a few minutes later & the 4th about 10 minutes later. I expressed my displeasure with management & was offered free dessert to which 2 of the choices were out of stock. We had a reservation, but decided to get there to have a few drinks by the bar. The 2 girls at the bar were very personable. The drinks were good. We went to our table, sat outside. It was nice. They started us out with some bread, butter and oil. The bread was so good. We had some picking food to share! We ordered the mussels, that were so good! Loved the fact they were small! The crunchy bread they served was so good, with the artichoke in there! A must! Then we had the Tuna Poke and the Ahi Tuna! Everything was good! Came back August 2020! Food was still excellent! Had a good ol fashioned Italian inspired, seafood heavy , cute small beach town fine dining extravaganza 5/5 on the mussels a la muse Top notch service too I almost feel bad giving this 4, not 5 stars but the overall effect of the meal was just a tad underwhelming after showfish, which admittedly are some snooty shoes to fill to take all this with a. Pinch of lobster kimchi. The tuna poke was a bit heavy, the dessert with the " fresh peach" cake was also heavy and not super fresh or appetizing but other than that, the avocado fries, and sea bass hit the spot along with the above average shrimp scampi and amazing mussels with grilled artichokes. What an amazing experience for a Saturday night dinner. Single-handedly the best prepared scallops we have ever enjoyed. The décor was splendid, drinks were done quite well. Their take on the BLT salad was surprising but, in the end, was quite memorable. We had to stay for dessert after scallops melting in our mouths. The chimichanga cheesecake was good but next time I will go for the tiramisu. Definitely a must-eat place next time we're in Montauk. read more

Blond lady , who then started talking with a high ponytail lady who I will assume was a sever and talked about us right there . We had a great meal at Muse. The decor is very inviting and the food was very good. The feta watermelon salad was delicious. Nice fresh watermelon and perfectly dressed greens. The creamy shrimp scampi had a wonderful creamy Parmesan sauce that amazingly was not all that heavy. My husband enjoyed his steak and my son said the scallops were delicious. The sear in them was perfect and they were huge!! The drinks were okay, nothing special but not bad at all. Will most definitely be back again when in Montauk. read more

Was there Friday night for our anniversary - very disappointed. Sat at a high top by the bar. Service not good, some of staff didn't speak English and was difficult to get help to get dirty plates replaced and food was mediocre and expensive. I had clam chowder and fluke franchise with mashed potatoes and spinach. Don't recommend either. My Husband had cauliflower tempura and ny strip with asparagus wrapped with bacon. We also loved the polenta fries -- these should be a lock when you eat here. Service: Waitstaff were pleasant, but not very attentive. It's a beautiful place with friendly service. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre. We ordered the shrimp scampi and we're disappointed to find it was actually macaroni and cheese with some shrimp on top. Definitely not scampi. Service was spot on, great entertainment ( Manny) at night. The Happy hour 3-7 was awesome with the buck a shuck that were some of best oysters we have had in a while. The older man at the door denied my partner who has a certified service animal entrance to the restaurant stating Suffolk County does not allow animals in restaurants. We identified that the dog was certified and had a vest and papers indicating such He denied us entry! Terrible. Very very disappointed with the staff. We are a family of five with reservations. Upon arriving on time we were taken to a table for seven in the bar area. There was moderately loud bar conversations with music and besides our table a large screen T V. When we said we did not want to sit there we were informed by the hostess and the manager that there were no other available tables. The same exact table for seven was available in the adjacent room. There was 2 other tables for four that could have been put together as well. The hostess and manager were both adamant that it was not possible to make the move. After much going back and forth they both were apathetic And arrogant and they let us leave without any accommodation. I know it's a holiday weekend but no one should be treated this way at any time. The prices are very high and in this climate they really shouldn't be turning people away. I will be sure to make all my friends and relatives know how this place should be overlooked and go elsewhere where your patronage is welcomed and appreciated. read more

Beautiful space inside. Upscale beach theme which screams Montauk (in a good way). Ordered a bottle of Chardonnay to share at the bar with my wife. She and I were chatting and the bartender (lovely woman) begins to pour but it's not the one we picked. Not wanting to waste anything I said it's fine, thinking I would be charged for what I originally ordered and not for the mistake one but I was wrong. Only $4 more so not a huge hardship but just the thought right? I felt I was doing the bar a favor by not wasting an open bottle. Oh well. Ordered the cauliflower app and asked for the feta on the side. Came out with feta on top. Let the runner know and she took it back and then brought out a bunch of fried cauliflower with no sriracha aioli or the lemon yuzu sauce. $18 for simple fried cauliflower and I had to ask for the sauces that were supposed to be on it. Just wanted the cheese on the side. Again, not a huge deal There was an older gentleman who appeared to be in a manager or owner role walking around looking like someone kicked his dog: scowl on his face, barking at the staff...definitely brought the vibe down. On the plus side the salmon tartare tacos were tasty. Maybe next time the wonton can be cut a little thinner/more delicate for the dish. Would eat better. We ended up out for a late bike ride and still hungry so we stopped in and scored a seat at the bar! We split an entree (ahi tuna stir fry- was SO GOOD!) and we each got dessert. Forced to actually put a number on this place. I have never had to speak with the manager about a meal until last night. Shrimp scampi was inedible as it was a gooey mix of overcooked pasta and some really bad cheese sauce. Halibut was overcooked and had no flavor. Both meals were taken off of the bill . Skip the appetizer salmon wantons. Absolutely tasteless and wrong fish to use. Salad was mediocre at best. Thirty minutes after placing our order the waitress comes back to confirm the order, obviously never submitting it. Finally, th a/c unit kept dripping on our table. Don't go here. I had recommended this place many times. No more. So overpriced for a miserable meal and had to stop for pizza on the way back. read more
